I never write reviews or complain about people but I feel that everyone should be warned about this vendor. Brett was nice and enthusiastic at first then did not say a word to us after we paid our nonrefundable deposit. I totally understand that there isn't a need for DJs to gather information until closer to the wedding but a thank you or confirmation email or something of that sort would've been nice. I contacted him months later asking about photo booth pricing and he had forgotten that we booked him and paid the retainer which I thought was unprofessional. I decided to look at his new reviews before adding anything else to my package and to my surprise saw the horrible recent reviews here. I decided to not add the photo booth, however Brett proceeded to send an invoice for our remaining balance, unannounced, way before it was due. I told him we did not plan on paying the remaining balance at this time and asked if he could send back our contract with his signature on it since he never signed it. He did not respond and never sent it. We were then told he sold his business which confused us even more. After further consideration we decided to cancel and go with another DJ because we did not want to take the risk of him cancelling last minute like he did to others. He is now threatening to take me to court if I don't pay him $400 more, even though he already gets to keep $500 for doing literally nothing for me besides sending us invoices. Ironic since it appears that he owes multiple people refunds. Please beware of this vendor and find a DJ who actually cares about your special day and isn't just greedy for money.

I would be aware if you hired Brett. He was very professional and always checking in until this year. Giving different information to my friend and I. Never once was notified that he is in the process of selling his business, learned from my venue. When emailing him about update he was unprofessional and only asked about the remainder of payment- wedding is 11/17/23.

DO NOT USE! We booked this vendor for our wedding so the week of I checked in emailing to see if he has everything he needed from me. Proceeded to text as I got no response. Still no luck. The day if he tells our coordinator that we canceled the event a month ago through his website. (Which we absolutely did not) his excuse was our account got hacked but judging from reviews, this has happened to too many people to be true. I call him to ask for some money back and question him on all the things that happened. He had an excuse for every single thing. He proceeded to block me on his Facebook page before I even wrote a single review. I could go into so much detail. He has no intentions of returning our money. Him and his wife are professional scammers. If you want to avoid a headache and waste of money, don’t book them.

DO NOT USE Southern Style! We booked Brett months in advance and paid for everything. Three months before our wedding my coordinator is trying to reach out to him and heard nothing. I look at my account and it says my wedding was canceled- we never canceled (strike 1) Brett finally gets back to us and tells us his associate made the mistake- this was all with our coordinator, not once did he reach out to me to apologize (strike 2) Two weeks before our wedding, our coordinator still has not heard anything from Brett- over 20+ emails and countless calls. 3 days before the wedding we get a text from a brand new DJ, turns out he subcontracted this DJ the day before for our wedding. We made the decision to hire another DJ, so my mind could be at ease. Our coordinator emails Brett that we are canceling our contract and surprise surprise he responds. Again no apology or anything just excuses as to why he wasn't able to get in contact with us for the last three months. We haven't received a refund and honestly don't expect to. Just save yourself the headache and hire someone who actually cares about your day and no trying to scam you.

DO NOT USE THIS VENDOR! I booked with and paid Brett months I’m advance. The week before wedding coordinator and my daughter tried by email and phone to confirm time line. He never returned calls or emails. Day of wedding coordinator gets a hold of him. He says we cancelled wedding and we did not cancel. But he sent a picture were it said I did. I told him that was not us and I wanted the URL address where that came from. He said he would have to look and call me back. And he has not called me back. And why would be trying to confirm a time line if we cancelled. He’s a scam please don’t lose your money.

Stay clear of this vendor if you like your money. He canceled the day of the wedding like mentioned in other reviews, but had no issue keeping our $1000. He ghosted us and coordinator and has no intention to give a refund. We had to find a backup DJ last minute and also pay for two DJs instead of one.

After being the DJ at a friend’s wedding we approached Brett about doing ours. We (my Husband) were mainly drawn in because he had two wacky inflatable tube men that were a bride and groom. We recommended him also to a family friend. A few weeks after my family friend’s wedding we were chatting, and she brought up how a lot of the songs that were on her playlist were not played and several songs that were not on her playlist were played. As someone who has a very specific taste in music, I emailed Brett twice about this and he assured me that he would in fact stick to our playlist. Que two days before our wedding. He calls and tells me that the inflatables were not his but were rented through some contact from the first wedding we attended that we originally booked him through, and he didn’t have that contact information (we had already paid to have the inflatables) and would try to have them at our wedding but he was not making any promises. Day of rolls around our ceremony goes off perfectly and there’s no problems with cocktail hour. While we were eating our meal SEVERAL songs that were not on our approved playlist were played. Including songs from the movie 365 (while I enjoyed the movie myself, I wouldn’t want music from that movie being played at my wedding). We had a guest appearance by Orbit (Houston Astros Mascot) and when Brett announced that he was coming in no one could tell what he was saying because he was yelling so loudly into the mic and held the mic so close to his mouth no one could tell what he was saying. Furthermore, he left his DJ booth several times and during those time a few people wanted to make requests and could not. I am not unreasonable either I totally understand needing a bathroom break, needing to eat for a second, and leaving to get water but he was out of the booth VERY often and for LONG amounts of time. When orbit came out instead of staying in the booth and DJing he left to go wait in line to take photos… On his portal there is a ‘Do not play’ section, a guest had made a request for a song that was in the ‘Do not play’ list and Brett came up to my husband and I while we were dancing and asked if we still did not want to play the song… Several VERY sentimental songs were missed, and they were in our ‘Must play’ list, and Bret called us out into the middle of the floor and did the whole ‘look into the eyes of your new spouse, this is the person who is statistically most likely to kill you’ bit which just did not need to be done and just didn’t fit in at the time he did it. Overall, my wedding was amazing and when he was actually in the booth and when he stuck to the songs we requested there were no problems. However due to waiting until the last second to tell us about the inflatables, not sticking to our playlist, and leaving the booth multiple times I would not recommend Southern Style Entertainment.

Brett and his team are amazing! They pulled off my Sunday evening wedding without any issues. Brett is intuitive, knowledgeable, and responsive. I loved the music selection so much, he even helped my brother with surprising us with a wedding song sung by him! I would highly recommend this team to anyone!

I am so disappointed to leave a negative vendor review but I feel the need to warn people against Brett with Southern Style Entertainment. Here is a list of my major complaints from the day: 1. Started the day by forgetting a speaker system at home — consequently, there wasn’t music during cocktail hour. He came into my bridal suite and told me 20 mins before I walked down the aisle. I previously gave him the coordinator and venue manager’s numbers with instructions to not contact me during the day 2. PLAYED THE WRONG SONG for me to walk down the aisle to even though I was very specific and communicative of which song and specific part of the song I wanted (gave time to fade in , what time the doors will open, what time I will walk down the aisle, and what time to fade out so music was still playing when my dad returned to his seat). He stopped the song very abruptly and awkwardly before I even reached the end of the aisle 3. Gave specific instructions on when to begin our recessional song (queue from the officiant and part of song). Did not follow this preference 4. We specifically asked the DJ to announce for our guests to please gather around the dance floor for our first dance. He didn’t and our dance was choreographed for a crowd to be around us 5. I was also very specific and communicative on the timing I wanted for our first dance song. After his mistake with me walking down the aisle, I had my coordinator double check that he was going to play the correct portion. He claimed he “didn’t know” and was going to play whatever he wanted if we didn’t double check at the last minute. 6. Had us step to the front of our reception hall after the toasts and made a very awkward, unscripted speech about us, a couple he never met before our wedding day. We and our guests were very uncomfortable 7. Didn’t play more than 5 songs on our must-play list for the dance portion of the night. Played 4 slow dances in a row even though the dance floor was completely empty by the end of the second song 8. I asked for some songs to be played at a specific time during the night (birthday song for my husband and a drinking game). I communicated the specific times of when these songs were supposed to be played… you can imagine the awkwardness and my disappointment when these instructions weren’t followed 9. Made several of my underage sisters/bridesmaids very uncomfortable. He was overwhelmingly described as “creepy” and rude by our guests 10. Interrupted me several times while I was on the dance floor to ask how he was doing. While I appreciate the opportunity to give feedback, this was inappropriate especially given my request to not contact me during the day 11. Didn’t bring an extension cord for the cold sparklers for our exit. He interrupted me on the dance floor before the last song of the night to ask me what I wanted him to do 12. I decided not to tip him due to his poor execution and communicated this to my coordinator. Brett followed my dad around after the wedding asking 3+ times if my dad had anything for him. Eventually, my dad was so fed up with the rude interruptions that he ended up tipping Brett I do not recommend Southern Style Entertainment to anyone. Please reconsider if you already booked Brett. We would have been much better off playing a Spotify playlist.

Extremely disappointed with this business. The owner/operator canceled 3 days before my wedding. No replacement offered and complete lack of communication. We were promised a refund on Nov 3rd that we have yet to receive. The owner did finally answer one of the many attempts to reach him and claimed he already issued the refund but was unable to provide any proof of this alleged transaction. I feel this business may be a scam.

Initially, I booked Brett & SSE, LLC for the package deal having everything I wanted and in my price range. He gave me $400 off since I booked within a day of contacting him & paid in full. My wedding was on 12.17.22. We booked Brett in April/May after finding him on here. It was a ways out, so I didn't expect a whole lot of communication until the 3-6 weeks out from the wedding. I reached out MANY times with no response. My venue was family property so the lay out was a little different and I wanted to review with him - crickets. 2-3 weeks before the wedding, I happened to look at his portal (where you enter the timeline, songs, wedding party names, etc) and my event said cancelled! I immediately called him - no answer. texted him - got limited response because it was 7p on a Monday and he was busy - of course I'm panicking, and it didn't seem like a priority. He informed me that I "submitted a request to cancel a few days prior & he approved it, so it was cancelled." WITHOUT EVER CHECKING WITH ME before approving it. My event was NOT CANCELLED & I never submitted a request to cancel. Apparently, once Brett approved, it automatically told the DJ That the event was cancelled. Brett stated that due to the holiday weekend, he didn't reach out to me sooner - I fussed at him for this because that's just not right. Ultimately, he told me that he got it figured out and that he would be my DJ. Had I not pestered him to have a pre-wedding call/meeting, I truly don't think that I would have received one. On my big day, he was supposed to arrive at 12-1230pm, but he did not arrive until closer to 215pm. All the above was definitely stressful and not something I needed leading up to the big day. However, he did get everything set up in time for 315p arrival of guests. He did play all the songs I requested and checked in with me multiple times thru out the afternoon & evening. The LOVE letters, dancing on a cloud, and monogram all were great. He also added sparklers without me knowing ahead of time - which was a good surprise. Of course, my stars would be lower if the day of did not go well. Lastly, his photo booth supposedly was broken at an event the night before my wedding so he had to find someone to fill in.. which he did. Unfortunately, I was told I would get a guest book so my guests could take the printed pictures and write a note for us to have... in addition to the digital photos that everyone took that night. I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY OF THIS as of 12/27/22.

Found this company through recommendations from fellow brides. Was impressed with the knowledge and professionalism of the owner. A week before the wedding when we had not heard anything from him, we finally got ahold of him. Allegedly he was going through a terrible illness (which no one blames him for). However, he left us hanging and on the hook last minute to find an alternative option with no communication, no suggestions, and odd texts that seemed fraudulent. I am not entirely positive this is a legitimate business. We paid in full months prior and when we reasonably asked about a refund for the services we were never going to receive, he completely ghosted us. I would never use or recommend this vendor. Beware.

Had to find someone else to DJ our wedding 8 days out because of Brett Martin, the owner’s, lack of communication. Initially he was very enthusiastic which was why I booked him with a large non-refundable deposit. very quickly turned into taking weeks, several text messages, emails, and a phone call to get any sort of response out of him. I do not recommend this vendor. Also in his contract he states no refunds so once you’re stuck with him, you are stuuuuck with him. SO glad we found someone else! Also his insurance company won’t issue a COI until a week out, which might be fine, if he would have communicated that sooner as insurance is a requirement of most venues. BRIDES BEWARE.

Brett was AWESOME to work with and followed the timeline perfectly. He made sure to play all of the songs we requested and then would come check with us if any song was requested that wasn’t on our list which I appreciated. He checked on us several times throughout the night to make sure everything was going well (which it was), and made sure he had the crowd dancing, he was funny when making announcements to the guests. My husband and I also liked having the monogram it added a nice element to the reception. He arrived to the venue early and I had absolutely no issues at all. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a DJ!

This guy was awful. He was rude and couldn’t play any songs we requested. He was dressed horribly and was full of excuses. Brides Beware!!!!

I am extremely disappointed in the services I received. I was able to witness Brett in action at another wedding, and I knew I had to have him. I’m not sure what happened between then and now, but this is not the service I was expecting. I understand technology issues - I’m a theatre director. I was MORE THAN understanding in terms of his technology not working correctly. I never fussed once, and I continued to reassure Brett that he was fine. The things I can’t deal with are the rudeness to my guests and vendors, the lack of materials that I paid for in the ULTIMATE entertainment package, the constant excuses for why the job wasn’t done correctly, and the lies. Not to mention he ghosted me after I realized he never set up our guest book. I was very excited to have Brett since he is a friend of a friend, but I will never recommend him or his company to anyone ever.

8 days out and we cancelled (paid in full) due to lack of trust. He requires payment 10 days from event but can’t or didn’t provide insurance to venue. Bad juju even if he would have come through. Not raining on our parade.

Brett was awesome to work with. Very responsive and easy to communicate with. He has an online portal where you can plug in what songs you want for every part of the wedding. As a DJ, he kept the party going and people were on the dance floor all night; great MC. The marquee letters and cold sparks were awesome touches to our wedding, and the photobooth was user-friendly! The ONLY downside was it seemed there was something wrong with the microphones during the best man + MOH speeches. It sounded “echo-y” and it was difficult to understand what they were saying… I did give this feedback on another review so hopefully it’s better for other brides. Otherwise, I’d definitely recommend SSE!

We had the best experience with Brett as our DJ. We got “LOVE” letters for decor, a photo booth, dj services, and a monogram! He was so affordable, and definitely makes sure you have the best time on your wedding night. The dance floor was constantly being used.

Brett was amazing PERIOD. I loved that he checked in every three months prior to the wedding. He was easy to work it and helpful. He made our wedding fun and memorable. I highly recommend him, if anybody is still looking for a DJ for their BIG DAY.

Southern Style Entertainment was AWESOME! They followed the timeline perfectly. They played songs that were on our personalized playlist as well as guest requests. Brett even took the time to make sure we were enjoying what he was doing during the ceremony and was open to suggestions. He arrived promptly with no issues. Would definitely recommend to anyone for their next event!

Brett has been absolutely amazing since the moment we reached out to get a quote. He has been so helpful with all my questions throughout the process. The company’s website was super user friendly to either build your own playlist or use one that has already been created. The night went super smoothly and people were on the dance floor ALL night. Thank you Brett, I’ll recommend you to everyone I meet!

Despite not being able to be there himself due to a family emergency, Brett was awesome at helping us get everything ready for our wedding reception and selected a great DJ to cover our wedding reception. The music choices were great and family-friendly, keeping the party going the entire night! The sparkler fountains they provided us for our exit were also awesome too and just the cherry on top of an awesome wedding day!

Southern Style was AMAZING. They went above and beyond my expectations and were perfect for our big day. Brett was awesome every step of the way, he even had to call and let me know that he had a family emergency and would not be able to make it but he had already made other arrangements for his partner Victor to be at the wedding for us. I couldn't have been happier with Victor as well, he called me and went over everything with me and made sure that the day was going to be perfect and it was. Highly recommend Southern Style to ANYONE!!

Brett was very accommodating, able to adapt and incredibly personable. Then, his professionalism and ability to blend in to the venue but keep people entertained is probably his best trait. When our "DJ" plans fell thru he was willing to take care of us on really short notice. His website says and planning aides are tops. Makes it easy and helps to not overlook the details.

Very helpful, professional, and was very sweet. We had a few last minute changes and he handled them flawlessly. He checked on us numerous times through the day, before during and after the wedding.

Brett did a good job on some parts of our wedding - our ceremony was flawless and we were very happy with how it went. However, communication was hit or miss - sometimes we heard back right away and other times it would be over a week. I also received several calls from him in one night within three hours (while I was at work no less as I work night shift) which was somewhat unprofessional as it was not an urgent issue whatsoever. We also were extremely unhappy as he played a song we specifically sent him a text message asking him not to play. He realized later and explained he "didn't read the message carefully" but you cannot unplay a song that makes some people very uncomfortable once you have played it. Overall, he would still be a good choice for your wedding but just make sure that you are very very clear on what you would like.

Brett was super kind and enthusiastic when we hired him, so we felt like he was the perfect DJ and photo booth service to hire. Our original wedding date was in July 2020 and he was so generous to allow us to postpone to the next year while honoring our original contract. Just a few things that could've been improved: lack of communication (Brett didn't respond to emails well, but was good with phone calls), wireless mics weren't cooperative during the reception, and there weren't enough sheets in the photo booth album they provided for us. Overall, he did a really great job being our DJ, the uplighting he provided for the cake and the banquet hall were beautiful, and our guests had an excellent time on the dance floor with the music selection! We were very pleased with Brett and his services. :)

Feedback from our wedding: In our contract there were some key items that were essential in making our day memorable, but Brett did not bring them, which is why we are writing this review. We did not receive : 1.30 Channel Mixer 2.Extra Sound Technician for both ceremony and reception As a result, the band was not able to perform to their full capability and because of the small mixer, the XLR cables were almost unusable. Thus, the sound was not clear and this was evident as we received the same complaint from our guests and those who watched us live. In addition, my brother in law had to go to the store just to get extra extensions since Brett's cables were not long enough. Overall, the band had a difficult time in setting up everything due to the incorrect mixer and the required cables were not brought Brett. Also, Brett's promised to bring a sound technician, but there was nobody helping him so my guests had to help you out in setting up the sound and media. Now for the reception, the speakers were right by each other, I am not a sound person but I know that speakers are to be placed in the corners of the room. Due to this, what was said through the mic was not audible and unclear to those who sat in the middle and back portion of the room. Also, Brett failed to play the music which was given to you on the USB, and embarrassed us for our grand entrance to the reception. In addition, for our first dance you did not even bring the clouds until my MC had to remind you about it, thus it was displayed only half way through our dance. Lastly, our end of the night dance was atrocious, we had given Brett the Youtube link on his website, as per your instruction through our phone conversation and he said he would download the playlist. However, he did not and then he proceeded to play random music which was first of all slow and you played the entire song, which does not keep the crowd engaged. The thing that upset us the most was that our guests had a negative experience at our wedding because of all these reasons and our wedding was not memorable. Due to that, many of our friends, family, and guests were very disappointed and in fact they left early on. As a result of not meeting all of the items on the contract and for the reasons mentioned above. you did not meet our expectations, and also made our family and guests upset, and it still brings us bad memories!

Brett and his team were so great and easy to work with! Answered any questions that I had. Our DJ was absolutely wonderful. Knew exactly the style music we wanted played. I have ZERO complaints. I will be using them for future clients.

Brett is great. Checked in a lot and I loved that he doesn’t play explicit music, he finds the vibe and what will bring people to the dance floor and checked in to ensure we were happy and really stuck to what we requested.

Brett is a great DJ and does really try to read the room well to see what people are interested in. He checked on us throughout the reception and was a great guy to work with. His price is great and he throws in a lot of extra items when you pay early, so the cloud and the sparklers were definitely a hit at our wedding!! I am happy I booked with him.

We had the pleasure of working with Brett from Southern Style Entertainment to use as the DJ at our wedding. Brett was easy to communicate with, professional, and fun to work with. He was supportive and helpful when we decided to postpone our wedding due to COVID, and willing to work with us while setting up our new date. Brett was receptive to our ideas, and supported the choices we made for our big day. Before the wedding, he called to confirm our song choices and make sure we were good to go. At the wedding, Brett played all of our requested songs while choosing a fun mix of others that kept our guests dancing and happy. I would highly recommend Brett for your next event- his fun personality and professionalism will make your big day even better!

Our review is very mixed here, so I will start with our positive: price. Brett offered us a great deal, throwing in the LOVE letters and Dancing on a Cloud for free. We were excited about the cloud, and this did end up giving us great photos, so we were happy with this. A couple months before our last payment was due, Brett offered us the cold sparklers for our exit thrown in for free if we went ahead and paid our balance early. We complied, but requested a new contract showing this change before we paid. We didn't hear back at first (which was suspicious) but after another prompt, he sent a new contract over. The cold sparklers were great for our exit, and again, we were happy with this addition. Now for the drawbacks. One was unreliable communication. There would be times I would get replies via email within 5-10 minutes, and other times where it would be days. More than one of these times, I was having major issues with the website and needed him to fix something because my 'deadline' to submit our music choices was approaching. The website itself was okay, though I didn't find it to be the best. There were also some issues with the music choices I could add to my list [I wanted a couple of different Queen songs to be played, but they were not the original versions (Adam Lambert instead of Freddie). It was so weird.] After having issues with both communication and the website, I opted not to request these songs in the correct version because I didn't want the wrong version to still be played. However, I ultimately still had this problem, because the wrong version of the song was played when my husband and bridesmaids were supposed to walk down the aisle. It was not a song that Brett had preloaded into his database, so I had to write it out in my form. I'm still not sure how it happened, but maybe I should have specified "acoustic" in my notes? Either way, the issue could've been solved by either a) Brett asking for confirmation on which version because it was one of the most important songs of the wedding or b) having a more user-friendly database that links the song correctly. Also, Brett was late getting set up for our ceremony because he was busy setting up our LOVE letters for the reception, so hardly any of our "pre-ceremony" songs were played, and the ones that were weren't even the most important ones (I had given him an order of increasing importance/order in which I wanted the music to be played). The LOVE letters easily could have waited to be set up during cocktail hour. Lastly, when dinner started, we were supposed to have a transition into different music, and again Brett was late on this; only a few of my songs for the hour were played. I had taken so much time labeling EVERY SONG as either “ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and reception.” Bummer. Overall, our guests were entertained after dinner, so that was good. Some of our “must play” songs were played, not all. Brett did come up to us in the middle of us talking to our guests to make sure "we were satisfied". I obviously had some problems, but I wasn't going to have a confrontation with him on our wedding day (who would want that memory?), so I didn’t say anything negative. He did a good job with the small crowd we had, so that was appreciated! All of the “special effects” went perfectly…which is great, but not 100% why we hired him. Hopefully he can correct these errors for future brides.

We booked Southern Style Entertainment for our wedding in November 2020. Unfortunately we did not have a good experience AT ALL. We originally booked with Brett because he promised us we could choose as many songs as we wanted for him to play, as this was a very important thing for my husband! We spent hours making a playlist and uploading each song to our account under our portal for the wedding day. There was almost NO communication up until a few weeks before the wedding and this was after calling Brett multiple times, emailing, and texting. He finally was able to call us back and we talked about specific things we wanted. My husband wrote the song on piano that I walked down the aisle too, and in case it wasn’t long enough we asked Brett to loop it out until I got to the alter. Well, it just so happens as I am walking down the aisle the music stops and there is an awkward silence right before I get to my husband... it was our ONE request for the ceremony and he failed at doing it. He ended up playing his own songs 90% of the time and almost none that were on our playlist, or he would cut the song short! He didn’t know how to read the crowd well!! Please spend time doing research and book with another DJ/company who actually cares about your song requests and making your wedding a good time.

We had to move our wedding from May to November due to COVID and Brett was so accommodating and understanding. He did a wonderful job on keeping the dance floor full and everybody engaged during the reception. I highly recommend you check ou Brett for your DJ needs!

I'm so happy to have had Southern Style Entertainment as the DJ service for my wedding. DJ Brett gave great, honest advice during the planning of my ceremony and reception. He executed my preferred ceremony music so well, down to the second! He communicated with me and my groom during our reception to make sure everything was to our liking. He truly wanted to make sure we had everything we asked for. The guests were really impressed with the "dancing on a cloud" feature during our first dance. The uplights Brett uses were a great feature, as they can be changed to any color at a moment's notice, and can also coordinate with the music being played. DJ Brett really picks up on what music our guests liked, and everyone ended up having a good time! The service was a really great value for what we got. Would definitely recommend!

Brett was super accommodating during our wedding! He made it a night to remember with the cloud effect, something I will never forget! Checked on us during the whole process from start to finish!

Southern Style Entertainment provided fabulous music and entertainment for our wedding on August 1! Brett was wonderful to work with, entertaining, had a huge music collection and was open to our ideas. He provided laughs and smiles the whole reception. I especially appreciated his understanding and accommodations when we had to reschedule our wedding from May 29 to August 1 due to the COVID pandemic. He was timely, fun and professional! Two thumbs up from this bride! Southern Style will always be my top choice for DJ/MC services for any event I have!

We loved having Brett from Southern Style Entertainment DJ for our wedding! Leading up to the event, they communicate with you very well to make sure you will get exactly what you want on the day of. During our wedding and reception, everything ran very smoothly. You could tell he could read a room really well and knew exactly what to play to keep the party going and make sure everyone got on the dance floor at some point. They have a very good mix of songs and playlists that fit every style and they played a bit of everything for us and our guests- which is great because we had a good mix of styles of people who attended our wedding. He checked on us and our family during the reception to make sure that we were happy with how it was going which was really appreciated. I would highly recommend using Southern Style Entertainment for you DJing needs! Great quality for a great price!

Brett and his wife were so personable. Our wedding was postponed due to COVID-19 & our original DJ just didn’t live up to our expectations. Brett was available and so willing to step in at the very last minute to take care of us. He took the time to drive an hour and a half to our venue on the evening of our rehearsal just to give us peace of mind and make sure everything was perfect for our special day. Throughout the duration of the wedding reception, he was very conscientious and mindful to ensure that we felt he was doing a great job. I highly recommend his services. He was amazing, and his attention to detail was second to none. Brett made our first dance, family dances, and the rest of our reception a masterpiece, and we couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out!

TERRIBLE. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. He didn’t seem to remember anything we talked about the multiple times we spoke on the phone. He messed up our first dance and he didn’t bleep out the world “weed” from the mother/son song. I told him multiple times to bleep It or cut it and and I put it on his website he makes you fill out. The day of his excuse was “he didn’t hear it”. He played random songs and disregarded the songs I put on his website “as must plays”. We spoke about my parents first dace song being a must play and he didn’t play that. He had every excuse in the book we we talked to him after about the situation. He said he was playing the “genre“ of what we picked And I was confused why he even had a spot on his website tiled must plays if he wasn’t going to play what we picked. We discussed on the phone and on his website about him playing closing time as all the people filtered out of the venue and he forgot that. I had to run up to him and demand he play it because he didn’t want to at first even though we spoke about it. Just a huge disappointment. Very unprofessional. I had a usb drive of my grandfather playing the Lord’s Prayer and at the end of the night instead of giving it to my mom or the wedding planner he gave it the my drunkest bridesmaid. We are lucky I even got it back. I think he didn’t want to face us at that point for the amount of mistakes there were. I would not use this dj again and would suggest if you care about the music at all to steer clear. He literally did not remember one thing we talked about on the phone.

I hired Southern Style Entertainment to DJ my wedding. They were great to work with however the owner would call me out of the blue while I was at work with no warning. They also unfortunately played the wrong version of the song we chose for our first dance even though they had been the ones to pick the version we wanted. In the end everyone enjoyed the evening and we were satisfied with their work.

I cannot day enough great things about Brett and the team! They were all simply amazing. Brett definitely made the whole wedding magical, from helping other vendors, to constantly checking on myself and my bow husband. Brett helped us through every step of the wedding planning process, as he was the first vendor I booked. He was a life saver!! We chose the all inclusive package, which made the reception so much fun! Everyone loved the photo booth, and we loved seeing all the pictures from it! The First Dance on a Cloud was so fun, and such a fun surprise the guests! Plus, the pictures are amazing!! Both the pictures Brett took, and the photographer. It’s simply amazing! If you’re on the fence, don’t be. Simply Southern is 100000000% the team to book!!
