My (new) husband and I were recently married at Spicewood Vineyards. The day itself was a perfect whirlwind of family, friends, food, and dancing. Spicewood was an incredible venue and the employees went out of their way to ensure that we had a... perfect day.
When we were searching for a wedding venue, we (or I) had several stipulations: 1) it had to be beautiful; 2) it had to allow dogs (our dog was our flower girl/ring bearer); 3) it had to fit within our budget, and 4) it had to have an outdoor ceremony space. Spicewood gave us all of these and more.
From a cost standpoint, Spicewood initially seems to be quite expensive, especially for a Saturday wedding. However, the items/services that are included in the cost - from tables/chairs/linens to day-of planning, make it an incredible value. If you price out renting all of the service items (tables and chairs) + the cost of event planning, Spicewood is a steal.
The venue itself is absolutely beautiful. They have an indoor event space on site that is the perfect blend of rustic and elegant. We did decorate, but it wasn't necessary given the natural beauty of the space and the surrounding grounds. Inside, there is a beautiful, all-wood bar and amazing wood rafters. Outside, there is a wide open patio which is perfect for cocktail hour and a creek surrounded by trees which served as the perfect backdrop for our ceremony. The pictures of our wedding are stunning in large part due to the beautiful surroundings. (You could probably play a drinking game based on the number of times that I have used the word "beautiful," but really, there is no other way to describe it).
Before and during the wedding, Marie, Spicewood's day-of coordinator, was an amazing source of knowledge, experience, and organization. I have seen several friends try to organize weddings without the help of a day-of planner. More often than not, the day-of coordination would fall to the mother-of-the-bride or the bride herself. I did not want my (amazing) mom (or me) to have to deal with the organization of the event itself (e.g. ensuring that everything ran smoothly and on-schedule) and so had planned to hire a day-of planner for our day. Luckily for us (and our budget), Marie's services are included in the cost of the venue, but even if this hadn't been the case, we would have hired her to organize our day. She met with us about two weeks before the wedding to discuss seating, the event timeline, etc. Her expertise and knowledge was invaluable - she brought up several potential issues that we had not considered and offered us simple but brilliant solutions. On the wedding day, she and her staff helped organize the various vendors and deliveries and had already set up most of the chairs/tables by the time we arrived (at 1:00 pm), enabling us to quickly decorate and then retire to the bride and groom rooms to get ready/celebrate with our wedding party. She ensured that everything - from the ceremony to the cocktail hour to the reception - went smoothly and coordinated with the DJ/photographer for all of the important moments (our entry, bouquet toss, etc.). We truly had the perfect, stress-free, problem-free wedding and it was all because of Marie's experience and expertise.
This had turned into a long post and so I will end here: Spicewood is a beautiful setting for a wedding and the staff ensure that your day is perfect. We could not have found a better venue for our day.
