re as a couple, and the wedding we wanted. Firstly, Heather understood my vision from day 1 to have a not-quite-normal wedding. I reached out to a number of caterers to compare, and she was the only one that I really felt like "got me" and the toned-down-but-not-totally-casual event I wanted. From there she went on to offer wonderfully personalized food and beverage options that made our day feel truly unique. Leading up to the event her communications were clear and concise, she was happy to fit my vision but also helpfully offered her expertise to help guide decision making. Day-of the staff was wonderful and friendly, the food was hot and plentiful, and really, everything went off without a hitch!

There was an extensive food selection available to us, and everything sounded amazing! Not only that, if what we wanted was not on their list, the chef was extremely talented and could adapt what they have to what we wanted. My husband and I are foodies, and it was so difficult to narrow down the options for our event. We brought my parents to the tasting; they're extremely picky eaters, and they enjoyed everything we chose! Even during the tasting, we saw what great care Spilled Milk placed in their food and their service. We asked for a slight adjustment to a dish, and it was no problem. We couldn't decide on the passed bites and the desserts, and Heather was patient and gave us recommendations. During the wedding, the presentation of the food was beautiful, and the food tasted divine. Everyone, and I mean every single guest, raved about the food! There was plenty to eat, and every single item exceeded expectation. And yes, my husband and I found time to eat! Several other vendors commented what a great experience it was to work alongside Spilled Milk. Fan favorites were the Asian duck hors d'oeurvres, mini grilled cheese, agrodolce short ribs, goat cheese and mushroom polenta, and mixed berry parfaits. Yum! My husband actually said, "Let's have another wedding so we can get Spilled Milk to cater again!" Maybe not another wedding, but I'm already searching for another event for Spilled Milk to cater!

There are some really fun options for the appetizers, and they did a great job communicating with us as a couple, the venue directly, and other family members. Although we pre-selected some of our options beforehand, Amit included an extra option that I had initially overlooked, and it ended up being one of our favorite things on the menu! The thoughtful gesture, amazing food and hospitality really made a strong impression on us and we signed our contract the very next day. PLANNING: Spilled Milk also went above and beyond by offering guidance and recommendations throughout the (sometimes overwhelming) planning process and I don’t know what I would have done without them! I would share my thoughts on what I envisioned and they offered ideas and suggestions on how to make it come to life. From selecting tables, linens, chairs, etc to helping us determine and draw up the best layout for our venue and where to place the bar, to where to set up the stage, dance floor and guest tables (which was a huge, huge help) EVENT: The day itself was more than I could have imagined. The food was incredible (and we’ve heard from multiple guests that it was the best wedding meal they have ever had). The service was also on-point, every guest was greeted by a friendly face and their glasses were always full. Between the apps, the entrees and the cake there was always food available and guests were never left hungry. My husband and I even had a dedicated waitress who helped make sure we always had a drink, water and food in hand to make sure we were taken care of. All in all we were so happy to have Spilled Milk on our team and cannot sing them enough praises. They are worth every penny!

We were sold from the tasting we did. The staff even recommended Australian dishes (groom is Australian) and it was so well presented and delicious. Still today, we are amazed at the service and food we got and the price we paid. They are mid tier priced with 7 star service. 100% recommend, 100% would use over and over again for another event. ried at the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, VA, which is not a traditional venue, and the caterers have to move fast to set up (and then flip) the space and make everything work. Spilled Milk pulled it off without a hitch and helped create a gorgeous wedding. Also, several of my family members and I have celiac's disease--I was really concerned about having a completely gluten free menu. Amit created such an amazing menu that most of our guests didn't even realize they were eating (home made that day!) gluten free breads and crackers. Anyone who suffers from a gluten allergy or sensitivity knows that's hard to find! They were also flexible in working within our budget and accommodating last minute menu change requests. We wouldn't want to work with any other caterer--you can't go wrong with Spilled Milk!

The food was delicious, crispy, and stunningly presented, with the waitstaff serving each table as a unit, professionally and quickly. The value of the package and the quality of the meal far exceeded expectations and even my wedding-caterer aunt praised the entire operation. A fantastic choice for our wedding that I would recommend to any couple getting married in the DC area.

We walked out of the tasting and both said this is perfect. They provided several recommendations for other vendors which were all great and very helpful. They'll keep you on the right track as you make a lot of decisions. I highly recommend and were very happy with our decision.

Responsiveness was very, very high on our list for what we were looking for in wedding vendors in general, and Erin didn't disappoint; we were always able to reach her in a timely fashion by email or phone, and she really stepped up in helping us figure out the layouts for everything from our ceremony to bar and cake placement during the reception. (Ask her to hook you up with the layout software they use, it's the best.) Having her experience with our venue was invaluable. We even got better light for pictures during our ceremony because of a suggestion she made! We also love to eat and love to cook, and Spilled Milk was far and away the best food we had at our tastings. Nothing felt bland or reheated. Everything was well-spiced, well-cooked, and portioned generously. The range of finger food for our cocktail hour was impressive and similarly delicious. Get the fried chicken. And the crab cakes. And the miniature samosas. Really, just get everything. And finally, Spilled Milk's service was lovely. They made sure we had snacks and drinks in our toasting flutes during our yichud. The waiter assigned to us was attentive without being at all pushy. The staff as a whole took care of some fairly complicated room flips for us in a timely and totally unobtrusive fashion. Spilled Milk was far more than a catering company for us on our wedding day. I don't know how we would have done it without them, and we'd hire them again in an instant.

However, it would be weeks, and on some occasions, MONTHS, before even receiving a response. When we did receive one, Erin would only respond to half of the email contents, leaving the remainder of my questions and concerns, unanswered. 2 weeks prior to our wedding, we still had not heard from Erin on key aspects that needed to be addressed. Even our wedding planner had expressed shock in this type of customer service, or lack thereof. On the day of our wedding, it was evident that there had not been enough communication on Spilled Milk's end. During our cocktail hour, I was embarrassed to find that many of our guests were not served food. This was because they had run out within the first 20 minutes. How could this have happened? Is it not the job of a catering company to anticipate the supplies needed, with a designated head count for an event? I assume that the term cocktail "HOUR" was not self explanatory enough. Our guests ended up having to buy their own food from the bar of our venue. We had planned for a dessert bar consisting of assorted mini cupcakes, macarons, and milk and cookie shooters. I had made it very clear at our pre-event tasting that there should be absolutely NO peanuts in any of the food served, as a several of our guests had severe allergies. We had also asked that the dessert bar be properly labeled (e.g. item contains nuts). Not only did the captain completely forget to serve the milk and cookie shooters, none of the desserts that were present were labeled as requested, AND, the worst part? The macarons were PEANUT BUTTER flavored. Why did Spilled Milk ever think this was acceptable? I cannot stress enough - "We have guests that are highly allergic." Most upsetting: My husband and I had requested to keep the top layer of our wedding cake, so that we could enjoy it on our one year anniversary. At the end of the night, there had been specific instructions to load up all remaining inventory, cake included, into a car of one of our family members. However, after inquiring on the whereabouts of our cake, our family told us that it was never in the car when they got home. I immediately reached out to Spilled Milk. Their response: "It was left out after the event, and we threw it out." 1) When did Spilled Milk intend on reaching out to us to tell us this had happened, and 2) Why were instructions not followed to ensure that the cake was among items loaded up into the car? It was not the responsibility of the bride and groom, nor their families, to ensure that this would be done. After some back and forth, Spilled Milk had agreed to refund us for the cost of milk and cookie shooters, and for the top layer of our cake. Even so, Spilled Milk offered absolutely no apology for the series of unfortunate events, nor did they make any attempt to reconcile the situation OR our relationship with the company. I will NEVER recommend Spilled Milk to any of our family or friends, and I would not recommend Spilled Milk to anyone else looking for a catering company. This is hands down, the worst customer service I have ever received.

d set out beautifully at five stations. The servers and staff at our wedding were warm, friendly and easy to work with, adding to the festive feeling of the day. (Which is truly to their credit; it's no easy job!) But we were very frustrated and disappointed with the lack of communication from SMC management in the weeks leading up to our wedding, including the week of. A family emergency among the SMC management may have distracted them, and when we learned about it, we expected our account just to be passed to someone else. Instead, we didn't receive our final budget and floor plans until 5 days before our wedding and a number of day-of items fell through the cracks (including: tip jars were set out at the bars, although we'd asked that they not be since we were tipping by envelope at the end of the night; during pre-ceremony cocktails, the bartenders inexplicably decided to combine the sparkling wine we wanted to serve with orange Italian soda we'd set aside for pregnant guests and kids, making a very sweet mystery cocktail; during set-up of the venue, significant problems with placement of tables and chairs, which were solved only when a close friend of ours intervened, and it became apparent that much of what we had discussed with Amit had not been conveyed to the day-of staff). None of this was in any way a disaster, but - particularly the lack of communication - made for a needlessly stressful experience during an already busy time. That said, we have high hopes for SMC as they grow as a business, and encourage other couples to look hard at them as an option.

, owner and our contact person at Spilled Milk, met our budget requirements with no questions or hesitations, and still got us everything we wanted. Spilled Milk was less expensive than the other vendors we were inquiring with and also offered more dishes and options at more competitive price (more stuff for less money, yes please!) Not only that but Amit worked with us to ensure we could have our food tasting and initial chat before I had to move out of state. (Omg.. their food…you have to try it... it will convince you to work with them from the first bite) Amit was extremely accommodating, exceptionally professional, always timely with his replies, and all around the perfect fun and charismatic fit for us. On the day of, our guests were blown away with the food presentation and taste as well as the exceptional crew. They were on time, always smiling and ready to help, and made sure that the day flowed with no interruptions. We had a unique set up (our ceremony, cocktail and reception were all in the same location) and they did a phenomenal job at making every moment beautiful and flawless. All of our guests were comfortable, happy, and had a fantastic time. The day turned out better than I had imagined and it could not have happened without the help of Spilled Milk. Thank you guys for making our wedding day spot on perfect!!! A+++

me of the best food, in some of the best places. That said, weddings are rarely where one finds outstanding food combined with stellar service. Lucky for me, mine was that rare occasion. As the type-A, super controlling and organized person that I am, I canvased the guests during the reception. I look at their plates. 95% of them were completely empty. I had a restaurateur attend my wedding; a 30-year veteran in the Washington, DC, upscale restaurant business. He too, cleaned his plate and noted that the food was fantastic and the servers were very attentive. Everything tasted wonderful, fresh and flavorful. I hate bulk food, catered food and especially wedding food. It never tastes like what you get during the tastings. What I had at my tasting was of the same quality of what my guests received on my wedding day, if not better. I can't say enough about Amit, who dealt with my very specific needs and constant questions. He and his team will work within your budget, let you know honestly what will work and what won't. They are super trustworthy and will make you shine like a star at your special event.
