OCTOBER 2022 BRIDE
I’m going to address this first. Get EVERYTHING in writing. Do not trust them to hold to any verbal discussions. There is hardly anything in their contract to hold them to after the fact, and to much was told to me verbally that I had to fight them on a week before my venue when everything was brought up along with addressing what happened after to the owner and Tori. This venue gets 5 stars when it comes to outdoor beauty in Lubbock, I’ll give it that. The food was also really good and our rehearsal dinner was perfect. Although, the kids buffet was never served during the reception.
But wedding venue staff 0/1 star.
Hopefully they have changed their documents since dealing with me but let me address my experience. The bridal suite Mimosa bar is not complimentary like I was told and the brochure made it out to be. (Had a video thankfully catching that a Mimosa bar would be provided day of) Were only given 2 bottles after sending that video to them. It was asked while touring if food prices would change when it came close to the wedding. We were told no and what food/alcohol prices we had in our brochure was final. Well boom, fight begins 2 weeks before the wedding about price changes in the invoice but we were never notified. Thank goodness for emails, it was discovered nothing was ever sent to us regarding a change in price. Even though we were told verbally this wouldn’t take place.
Do not expect Tori to be present the day of the wedding like they tell you she will be. Couldn’t even tell you what she was wearing that day because I never saw her and my dad only saw her twice within the 8am-11pm time frame. GET A WEDDING PLANNER.
Water ran out for over an hour during the reception, she was no where to be found. For 100+ people, they only had 3 people working that wedding. The bar tender was extremely rude to our guests, Tori was no where to be found to address it so my family had to step in and address the attitude. They started serving the food before me and my husband even did our reception entrance and before the set serving time. Tori was never to be found for that either. The day of, rain happened out of no where. We were told the seats would be wiped down. One guy went out there right before the ceremony with only 2 towels for 115 chairs, guest still ended up soaked. If you choose champagne as an alcohol option for the bar, make sure to note that you actually want that served through the night. Other wise, you’re going to pay for champagne that will not be offered because they automatically assume you are only using it for a toast even though it was never once discussed that it was to be used for that when we had a bar full of other selections as well.
Make sure parking is addressed because we had the pavilion package but other people rented out the house across the water that was apart of a funeral service. People were parking by our bridal suite and walking across the waterway DURING the ceremony. Lovely right?!
As for the bar cups, I highly recommend supplying your own because what they provided, Dollar Tree could have had better quality. They crumbled just with a light touch.
Last, do not plan to get a good nights sleep in the bed in the bridal suite. One small wiggle and that whole bed shakes and creeks.
The Spirit Ranch was great! Jessica, the events coordinator, was very helpful, flexible, and patient. Everyone was very LGBTQ+ friendly. They will do the set-up, break-down, decorations, food, and more. It was a one-stop-shop experience, which eased the stress. We were planning to use them for our wedding reception. They were very understanding with COVID-19. We had to cancel our reception, but they allowed us to move our deposit to a smaller family dinner in an event room in their restaurant at our request. We hope to reschedule our reception at a later date, and we would still use this venue.
It is hard to believe the experience I/we had this weekend. I had the joy of helping my friend prepare for her son's rehearsal dinner in the pavilion. Jessica was there when we arrived. As I was bringing stuff in to decorate, she never introduced herself to me. She never even smiled or acknowledged what a happy day this was for us. The projector was not ready when promised. In fact, the groomsmen had to set it up with the cords we had brought "just in case". The bar was not set up on time and then was set up incorrectly. The appetizers were not presented until after the buffet line had begun. And only then because the mother-of-the-groom had to ask about them. The buffet line consisted of several BBQ meats, but no BBQ sauce! Again, the MOG had to ask for it. Once it arrived, in pitchers, I walked to each table and offered sauce to the guests. (There was no staff to help us.)
At no time during the event did we see or hear from Jessica. The attention to detail was nonexistent. There was no effort to insure our experience was what it should be on such a special occasion.
RUN!!!! Don’t even consider this venue unless you want to deal with the highly incompetent event planner Jessica. Price changing, lies, blaming staff and owner for last minute changes, promises made and not kept, late setup, start and ONE wait staff for 50 people. Detail after detail dropped on rehearsal dinner. Jessica did not show up to oversee or check on event. She was verbally rude to friends delivering flowers. Horsdoeuvres were missing and after asking were brought out after dinner was starting (20 minutes late). NOTHING was as promised nor was it the waiter or bartenders fault. Sent picante sauce verses bbq sauce, left potato salad sitting out room temp for hours, dirty plates, no ice for drinks. Restrooms filthy and had to ask to be cleaned and stocked. Projector was 2 hours later than promised and delayed start time. Jessica even misspelled brides name on welcome sign. Nightmare!!! Go somewhere professional for less the price. Sad to see a legacy venue be run into the ground by poor management and incompetent staff.
It was a wonderful venue, and I had dreamed of getting married here for years. But due to certain rules, I couldn’t fully have my dream wedding. You had use THEIR catering and there was NO BYOB, you had to buy alcohol from the facility to be served. But over all it was a very good experience.
I have dreamed of having my wedding at Spirit Ranch since I was 15! My day was nothing short of perfect, but it wasn’t because of the help of the events coordinator. I was very unimpressed with her. First, I had to keep reminding her at EVERY single meeting what we had previously discussed. Secondly, she kept trying to get me to move my wedding to a different section of the venue. That was annoying. Thirdly, she was hardly to be seen while setting up the day before and the day of. I was also unimpressed that the time of my rehearsal/set up she was showing someone else the venue. It was unprofessional in my opinion. My MOH had to call her more than once for various things that were not done the day of. Great place, just be wary of what you are getting yourself into.
They were so nice and the venue was beautiful! Keep in mind though that during summer months mosquitos can be an issue. They spray weekly but with all the rain they are still a problem. The peacocks really add a lot to the setting too!
Very beautiful place! Loved it! Service could be a little better on the day of, but overall great experience!
Even though Spirit Ranch is more expensive than some other venues you may find, the staff if wonderful and went above and beyond on the day of our wedding. They set up all the tables and chairs and help with the clean up after the wedding. They were very helpful in planning and helping us find items such as coolers and ladders that we had forgotten to bring with us. There areas for getting ready before the wedding are on the smaller side; however, they have a ranch house that can be rented with plenty of extra room. We found this facility to be very useful for family and friends, as well as myself, when preparing for our big day! If you have looked in to this location, you know that it is truly beautiful and all our guests loved the peacocks that rome around.
I loved them! It wasn't the cheapest place we found, but they provide tables, table cloths, and chairs (which other venues didn't). They also had handicap accessible buildings. We really appreciated the staff. The have an optional house you can rent to get ready or for the honeymoon night (or both).
Downside: you can't set us till 8am the day of.
Plus: Everything else
Beautiful place!! Pretty expensive though and if a wedding is going
on at the other building/venue they have you might be "sharing" your
space with another bride and their guests. All in all a great place if
your willing to foot the bill.
The staff at Spirit Ranch helped to make my wedding day perfect! There was always someone around to answer question and help in any way possible. They also refunded us half of our money when the air conditioner went our that afternoon before the wedding. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. I would recommend them to everyone!
The Spirit Ranch is only a few minutes out of town, but still out in the country enough to provide a beautiful backdrop for a wedding of any type. They work hard on their landscaping to keep it lush and green most of the year, which is hard to do in West Texas droughts! They have a three "mini-venues" to choose from on their land. They have ducks and gorgeous peacocks on the property which are very friendly and add a nice touch to any event. (The peacocks try to stick around weddings, they like eating the rose petals!)
The service was amazing, they did EVERYTHING. I didn't have to worry about a single thing, and I had quite a few aspects to my wedding. We rented the Meadow section, so we had room to rent a horse-and-carraige to bring me (the bride) in for the ceremony. The morning before, they set up all the chairs and tables as we had discussed the week before. There was a rep there during the whole day to make sure things went smoothly. They were very accommodating for every request I had.
I have ZERO complaints! Not a single one! I loved it any they made my day beautiful. I'd recommend for anyone; it was a great price considering!
