Omg words can't describe the amazing hospitality we received from this venue!! From day 1 of planning till we checked out was just magical. Sofia was outstanding in every aspect and went above and beyond all expectations.. Micklos words can't describe this manager he blew my mind with everything and made us feel like family. We got married on Friday the 13th Halloween theme and the entire resort was involved every staff member we encountered was so nice and amazing and genuine!! Def something you will never find in another resort. The rooms the food the staff I can't complement enuff. It definitely was hard to leave but this will now be our weekend get away trips..
Went to meet with wedding coordinator, Sofia on a pre scheduled date that was confirmed by email only to be told she is off for the next month and the person covering for her is not there. Drove all the way there only to not even meet with anyone. Not even a phone call or email. I would not recommend at all. As we were there we overheard people complaining about air conditioning and microwaves almost catching on fire.
So last Saturday was my dearest friends wedding... let me say she made the most beautiful bride. Despite the 85 degree room we were provided to get ready in.. oh with no bathroom, and staff walking by lurking in the room while we got dressed and undressed... also NO AC on the record breaking temperature which was known for 2 weeks prior.. believe me as the matron of honor you stalk the weather for weeks wanting the best of the best for the bride and groom, family and guests... The outdoor ceremony was beautiful..... now onto the reception... the room the HARMONY room also had NO AC!!!! the temperature on the thermostat read 84 degrees.. the staff did their best by avoiding the situation... salads wilted before anyone got their forks to the plate.. the staff were to bring in fans but they were never brought.. luckily the DJ had some in his van and brought them in... after about 2 hours in almost 90 degree room the bride and groom decided to pack everything up and finish their day at their home.
Ohhhhhh and the wedding planner that the resort hired for them.... never showed up...
the resort itself is nice for pictures and ceremony but don’t have the reception there...
My husband and I booked Split Rock as our wedding venue about a year in advance. At the time, our wedding coordinator was Kara, but she ended up leaving Split Rock a few months after we booked. When she emailed me, I was so petrified that I wasn't going to have a coordinator for our wedding, but after a few days, I received an email from our new coordinator, Miriam. The transition between coordinators was so much easier than I expected! Miriam got in contact with us quickly, and she was such a great help throughout our planning process! She listened and replied to my excessive amount of emails, and she was always glad to help and support us! She helped make our wedding planning process very easy and smooth! When it was time for our taste testing, we were treated like royalty by the staff and head chef! The food was absolutely delicious, and because we went with a plated dinner option, it was very difficult to choose between 2 meal options when we were presented with so many great options! Miriam was there during our wedding rehearsal and helped me and my bridal party rehearse and go through our day of responsibilities and line up. On the day of my wedding, we were supposed to have our ceremony outside near the pergola, but it ended up raining, and we had to have our ceremony under the deck of the Thirsty Moose. Even though it rained, our ceremony with about 75 guests was beautiful. The guests' seats were lined up so that everyone was able to see and watch the ceremony. We had our cocktail hour in the same location, and the staff transitioned from ceremony to cocktail hour very smoothly! After cocktail hour, we had our reception in a tent on the patio. The tent kept us all dry, and it was such a magical day! Our guests complimented us on how beautiful the location and resort was. Thank you Miriam and Split Rock's staff for making our wedding day magical. Despite the rain, our wedding day was perfect, and we will always cherish our wedding!
Absolutely perfect location for our wedding!! Our wedding was Dec 2 so I was a little apprehensive about having the ceremony indoors. However the day of the wedding I was completely blown away by how beautiful everything looked. It was exactly what I envisioned. The reception was set up exactly how I had in mind and was also so beautiful. The staff was extremely accommodating from start to finish. They were very helpful Fri night when we set up a few decorations. Sat they completely blew me away. Meals were served promptly, food was delicious. They made sure my husband and I always had a drink. At the end of the night they boxed up our left overs and gave us a bottle of champagne. They also helped pack everything up and take it to our room. I could not have asked for better people that day! They made our entire experience perfect. Plus they were able to accommodate our dogs with a pet friendly room. Miriam is the wedding coordinator and always emailed me back quickly and helped calm my nerves. Overall I would absolutely recommend Split Rock Resort to anyone having a wedding ceremony or reception there. You will not be disappointed!!
We cannot say enough amazing things about this venue! The views were gorgeous for all of our pictures and the staff was amazing! Miriam handled everything and went wayyyyy above and beyond to make our day perfect! The food at the reception was delicious and we were to glad to get some to take home with us and have the next day! Everything about our day was perfect and Split Rock was the perfect place!
Absolutely amazing!!! We absolutely loved everything about our wedding at split rock! Miriam was fantastic and helped us with everything and every question every step of the way!! She was there from the beginning to the very end and I could not imagine having a better experience! They set up the ceremony space and the reception so beautifully! The ceremony on the lake is gorgeous and all my guests raved about the view! The food was amazing and the service was unbelievable! We enjoyed all the personalized things and the complimentary room was an add on! If you are looking for a beautiful wedding out side in the poconos I definitely recommend! Split rock just had so much to offer and it's at a really great price!!!
We just got married this past weekend at Split Rock Resort. When we started wedding planning, we decided that we wanted to get married in the Poconos because of the beautiful mountains and lakes. We went on tours at 4 different venues and Split Rock was the most flexible and accommodating of all the ones we viewed. We really liked the wedding coordinator and knew that she would be a delight to work with for our year of engagement. Things went very smoothly leading up to the wedding, including our wonderful tasting that gave us a wonderful meal and the resort even let us stay in our bridal suite the night of our tasting for free which was wonderful!! The resort provides so many discounts and freebies for having your wedding there, it is a hard deal to pass up! 3 weeks before our wedding, we found out that our wedding coordinator had left and wasn't going to be there for our wedding day. This was very distressing and we couldn't believe that something that we had been expecting all year would be completely different. However, the person who took over, Miriam, was extremely organized and helpful. I cannot say enough about how wonderful she was. She was able to give us comfort that everything would work out just as we had planned and she was so responsive. On the weekend of the wedding, Miriam met with us and was there throughout the weekend to make sure everything went perfectly. She seriously went above and beyond to make sure that we were happy and everything was the way we wanted it to be. The waitstaff that were working during the wedding were so amazing in making sure that we had appetizers during cocktail hour when we were taking pictures, making sure we had drinks, and making sure that we got to eat dinner and cake (that's right, we had dinner AND cake at our wedding!!). Even the bartenders at the bars were wonderful in always trying to make sure we had drinks in hand and making us feel like stars of the show. The ceremony spot is absolutely beautiful and we had our reception under a tent on the patio outside the lodge which was gorgeous as well. I cannot say enough about how beautiful the grounds are there for a wedding and how much it was exactly what we wanted.
My only complaints about the venue, are unrelated to the actual wedding experience, but more about the lodging accommodations. We did like that the resort has multiple options for lodging (suites, hotel rooms, cottages, etc). However, a lot of people struggled with getting their rooms on time (including my bridal suite which luckily we got the day before the actual wedding, wasn't ready at 4:30 when check in is supposed to be at 4pm). There were also several problems with room keys and we weren't able to get into our room after our wedding because the lock was broken and had to be fixed! This wasn't super pleasant to deal with after being exhausted from getting married all day. The lodge rooms are quite outdated, which we wouldn't have minded as much but one of the radiators actually started to spark and caught on fire in one of our guest rooms, and a sink broke when a friend leaned on it after slipping getting out of the shower causing him to be rushed to the ER to get several stitches. The resort was willing to compensate us with dinner and breakfast due to these issues which was very appreciated. There were some tough times with some of the staff, but overall I would say that most of the employees were very pleasant and accommodating.
This place is terrible. Please don't waste your time and money on It. We got married here and we had problems since the very first second. We waited for ever to check in, was promised a 2pm check in and wasn't checked in until 530! This place has rooms that have missing door knobs, blood on mirrors and the air conditioning doesn't go below 74. Our honeymoon suite was FILTHY! Our jacuzzi tub had a film on the water, the jets didn't work and the tub didn't drain, the front desk said it would get right on it....hahha yea that's a good one. Finally. the straw that broke the camel's back. We added an extra night onto our stay and they double booked our room for that night and kicked us out. You couldn't pay me to stay at this dumpster ever again. The good things about the place was the wedding coordinator Miriam and the second we pulled out of the parking lot. Don't waste your time, you will be 100 % disappointed
We just got married on 7/15/17 at Split Rock Resort. Our wedding was wonderful and just what we wanted. I can't thank Kara enough for her guidance leading up to this special day. She worked with us on the actual wedding day to make sure everything went off with out an issue. Everything was set up just as requested at both the ceremony site and reception. She arranged transportation to the split rock so we could take pictures there that were amazing. If you are considering Split Rock for your wedding, you won't be disappointed. We would definitely choose it again.
We had our wedding August 1 2015 at Split Rock resort and could not have chosen a more perfect location. Gladys the wedding coordinator was absolutely amazing from start to finish, and made every guests as well as ours perfect. Gladys and her team were so thorough and on point throughout the process it made everything so easy for us. If you are looking for the perfect location with the perfect wedding coordinator than look no further as Gladys will make your day amazing. The food was fantastic, and the room was set up amazingly.
What a perfect weekend wedding we had for our family and friends.
Thank You Gladys and team for all you did
We got married at Split Rock at the end of May and everything was amazing. After going through a few wedding specialists since the time that we booked, I have to say that we were a little bit skeptical, but we were pleasantly surprised with how everything turned out. Gladys is amazing at her job and was incredibly organized from the first time that we met her. She truly made our day special and was on top of all of the details that we had discussed. The food was good and the guests all enjoyed hanging out around the resort. The resort has a much different look to it since renovations started and I highly recommend checking it out for your wedding!
Alyssa and the staff at Split Rock made our day perfect! The wedding site in front of the lake is just magnificent! The food was absolutely amazing.. Our reception room was decorated as requested and there's not one thing we'd change!! The day was filled with love and happiness and was exactly what we wanted!!
My Daughter and Son In Law were married at Split Rock this past Summer. We were absolutely thrilled with everything. From the beautiful ceremony with the lake behind them, to the exceptional service, amazing food and attention to detail- every single aspect of this event was wonderful! Their wedding took place during a change in the resort's wedding coordinator, however no one missed a beat, and the Chef (Manny I believe his name was) was fabulous! The rooms need some upgrading (guest rooms), but they are apparently in the process of doing that and truthfully, the fact that everything was so wonderful made that seem insignificant. If you are looking for reasonable pricing, amazing staff, out of this world food and gorgeous scenery, Split Rock Resort is the place for you! We would have events there in the future without a doubt! Do yourself a five and go see everything, I guarantee you will fall in love with it!
We had the most beautiful and amazing wedding day at Split Rock! We picked this venue because it had everything we were looking for. An outdoor wedding ceremony location with a beautiful view, accomidations on site, great food and all for a very reasonable price. We did go through a change of wedding coordinators just months before our big day which made us nervous at first but from the minute I sat down with Alyssa she calmed all our nerves. Alyssa has taken over the wedding coordinator position and is doing an amazing job!! She is very thorough, hard working, cares about every small detail that you want for your wedding and gets it all done in a timely manner which is great for reducing some stress for the bride! She will make sure your wedding is YOUR wedding and not just another wedding!! And Tony the maitre d was also amazing! He was super polite and even packed up some dinner and desert for us at the end of the night which was very thoughtful. Overall I cant imagine having had our wedding anywhere else and I wish the coordinator change would have happened sooner just so I could have had the pleasure of working with Alyssa more! I highly recommend Split Rock Resort and Alyssa to help you plan your dream wedding!!
My wedding occurred during a turnover of the wedding coordinator, but the director of wedding services took over the planning of my wedding, which initially had me feeling very confident in Split Rock.
However, this turned out to be totally wrong, they made so many mistakes throughout the rehearsal and the reception. I was reassured numerous times that all of my details were all set and ready to go for my wedding.
They did not have our hor d'ouerves during cocktail hour that we had discussed and paid for. We were even told later that they had it on the BEO on the computer but they printed the wrong one. Our children's meals were delivered to the children long after the adults meals. The maitre d was incredibly rude to my husband when we were trying to figure out all of the mistakes and where we had to go for the night after the reception.
The only good thing I can say is the ceremony was absolutely beautiful, but that is because of my other outstanding vendors.
I recommend staying far away from this venue until they learn how to host a wedding.
1.At the gate, I was told there was a $1 fee. Some guests had a dollar, and were told at the gate to just go in, and he didn't take their dollar.I’m the bride and I paid the fee on Friday AND my wedding day. This is strange to me since we agreed I'd be billed for those who didn’t have a dollar.
2.At the ceremony, no one directed my guests to the programs in the basket that I designed and made myself.Almost all of them were still there Sunday morning.I thought the guys would have been reminded to make sure they were taken/passed out since they were at the ceremony site waiting, but no one directed them.
3.My #chrisette photo frame was hung on a tree by the wedding arch.No one knew about it until I used it myself at the reception.I assumed that people would be directed to these things for me since I wouldn’t be around to tell them myself until after the ceremony when it was too late.
4.I planned a unity painting for my ceremony. The pastor and I completely forgot about it until I had walked down the aisle. It actually makes me really sad that we didn’t get to do that because it was such a unique aspect of our ceremony.I thought the wedding coordinator was supposed to make sure it got done since we discussed it before.
5.At the reception, only about 3 people filled out an advice sheet, and maybe 8 people signed the guest book puzzle.I assumed the coordinator would have directed guests to it; but when I asked people about it after the reception, they didn’t know about it.
6.My mother had ordered a Banner that was supposed to be hung by the escort table, and we had showed it to the coordinator Friday night. It was still under the table and never hung up.
7.The Tilapia was TOTALLY different than what I tasted and chose. It was also probably half of the portion size we were shown. The potatoes were very different as well. They looked pre-cut at the reception, but at the tasting, they were cut into mushroom shapes. It was actually VERY embarrassing for me since I talked up the fish so much to my guests before the wedding.I went around and apologized to those who chose it because it wasn’t what I said it was.At the tasting it had a creamy white sauce on it; at the wedding, it looked like some crushed tomatoes were thrown on it.Mine was also very dry and flavorless. Tony (I think that was his name) went back to the kitchen and had the Chef re-make mine differently to try and make what I described to him it was supposed to be.Even after the re-make, It was still not what I tasted.Tony then explained to me that there had been more than one staff change for the Chef, but I don’t see how that explains a completely different fish. It should have been made the same because wouldn’t the recipe have been written down?
8.The chocolate covered strawberries were not constant/unlimited like I was told. We were given 1 with our piece of cake, and I never saw more of them out on the dessert table in the back.
9.People were thirsty for water from dancing, and many times the servers were not always available/around.
Bottom line, don't rely on the wedding coordinator to take care of & remember everything.Designate family/friends to remember the important things for you.I thought I didn't have to worry about anything, but a LOT was forgotten, and I can't ever redo it.
Kristen was great to work with, her prompt responses actually lead me to picking Split Rock. Once meeting her I knew we made the correct choice! She was very easy to work with, gave us lists of all wonderful local vendors, since we're from out of the area, and our day turned out amazing! Everyone was so impressed with how beautiful our little wedding on the lake was!
We got so many compliments on how good the food was, and how much there is to do at the resort and in the surrounding area! I wouldn't have changed a single thing at our wedding! The flowers and cake, recommended by Kristen, were beyond perfect! We also used the salon for wedding day hair, and it was a great experience as well!
Totally recommend Split Rock for your wedding destination, it's beautiful, a great value, and has an awesome wedding planner!
Kristen Rock in group sales was great at helping with everything before hand. The day of went great, there is a hair salon at the resort so we were able to do all the wedding stuff at Split Rock (they even brought us mimosa's while we were getting done). I'm not into micromanagement and they were very helpful with arranging time lines and getting us where we needed to go. Had an absolutely wonderful day! Split Rock Was perfect for our outdoor wedding with the ability to move indoors if weather had not cooperated. All the guest loved the food. The staff was very helpful and the fact everything was on site and guest didn't have to drive was one of the main reasons we chose Split Rock. We were very satisfied and would definitely recommend going here. We had a large number of guest and they were able to accommodate us and we were also able to discuss options to reduce cost of some things. I just can't say enough how happy I am that we chose Split Rock. There are also numerous places for great outdoor pics if you are interested and explore the resort a little:)
Our wedding at Split Rock Resort was amazing! We were expecting 150 guests. The service as great and everything you need (Salon/spa, accommodations, food, entertainment) is in one place so it's super convenient. And in the fall the scenery is beautiful! We got married outside by the lake, and we had a perfect fall day! We had the reception there as well and the food was wonderful. The staff took care of all the decorating and all the clean-up, so we didn't have to do anything but enjoy our special day. And the package included the cake, some decorations, a concierge service, the nights accommodations for me and my husband, and a complimentary breakfast the next morning! It was a wonderful place to get married! A special thanks to Kristen (the wedding coordinator) and Jason (my concierge). They were great and with us every step of the way! Jason even delivered cake to my great aunt and uncles room because they had to leave before we cut it! Exceptional service! Thank you!
My husband and I just got married September 7, 2013. Our day honestly couldn't have been more perfect. We got married by the beautiful lake and had our reception in the Governor's Ballroom. The per plate price is so reasonable and the food was great. Kristen Rock is the wedding coordinator for the resort and she was so amazing at her job. She made sure that my Fiancé and I were well taken care of. She helped me with planning and took so much stress off my plate. Anything you need, even decorations, she was there to help. This was such a great choice for us just with the prices alone, but having Kristen Rock and her team there to help us was the cherry on top! I would recommend getting married and Split Rock to ANYONE! Such a perfect and memorable day. Thanks to my family, friends, and the awesome staff at the resort.
I was a happy and stress-free Bride. :)
I live in Ct so I was quite nervous about everything turning out nicely for our wedding. However, our wedding day couldn't have been any more perfect. The guests said that it was the most breathtaking wedding they've ever been to. Kristen, the wedding coordinator was excellent from the time we arrived right through my wedding reception on Saturday. She made everything go so smoothly. The entire wedding staff was great. The good was fantastic. The pricing was more than reasonable. We were completely satisfied with our wedding venue at split rock resort.
From the moment I first sat down with Kristen at Split Rock I was in love! They were the first place that didn't try to fit me into their little box of how a wedding is supposed to be, but did everything possible to accommodate what I wanted. They let me do a day wedding and night reception with no complaints! Throughout the whole process Kristen made it easy on me. She was so on top of everything I was so relaxed! The wedding weekend was absolutely perfect and there was someone there to help me the entire time.
The ceremony was beautiful and ran so smoothly even though we had to move inside. I didn't have to worry a out anything! Food was delicious though there were a few things that were different than what I thought they were going to be. Everyone loved it any way!
I really can't say enough thankyou's to Kristen, my maitre de( Chris I think?) and everyone at split rock for an amazing day
Just two tips to brides when u block rooms make sure you get the proper phone number to call as it is a special group reservation not the front desk! I didn't know this and had some issues before we realized it. Second stay on top of the cake lady that split rock uses. Not split rocks fault but she really messed up m order. It was delicious but lots of mistakes!
Thanks again split rock!!
