I originally booked Sprinkles Custom Cakes to make a wedding cake and grooms cake for my February 2022 wedding. I was notified in early January 2022 that Sprinkles was changing to ...
Tru Cakes. I was promised I would still receive the same level of service, the same flavors, etc. Tru Cakes did do a decent job communicating with me in the days leading up to the wedding. It was the day of that left me disappointed.
When my wedding cake arrived, it was crooked. It was not sitting not the stand perfectly upright. Tru Cakes refused to fix it so thankfully my wedding planner did what she could to remedy the issue and shift the cake around from different angles.
For my grooms cake, I had arranged for them to make fondant version of our dogs to sit on top of the cake. The cake was almost perfect except for the dogs being labeled with the wrong names - i.e. their collars were switched. I asked them to fix it. Originally they refused. Again, thankfully my wedding planner was awesome and came up with a quick, simple solution so Tru Cakes could fix their mistake.
After my honeymoon, I reached out to Tru Cakes as advised by my wedding planner. I did not receive any compensation for their mistakes and to be honest received a very rude email back. The cakes tasted great and were pretty but due to the poor customer service, I would not recommend Tru Cakes to anyone.
Okay, so here are the positives-
There's no doubt that Julie is passionate about cakes and Martha is a great balance to Julie's energy. The cake that we received for our wedding lo...
oked exactly like the design we sent; it was stunning. Some of our guests got good cake. That's where the positives end, unfortunately.
Here's what ultimately happened:
Our wedding date was originally for May 2020. We had a contract with Sprinkles, the previous bakery. Like many weddings, Covid led us to postpone until May 7, 2022. In that time, Sprinkles was bought out by Tru~Cakes. We were having a destination wedding so we drove from Miami to Orlando for a second cake tasting and to meet the new owners. Even after emailing them, the flavors we asked to try for the tasting were wrong. They went into the back and made some fresh flavors to try, it happens.
They were very confident that they weren't like other bakers and were able to supply a cake was delicious as much as it was beautiful, difficult but not impossible. We wanted the top tier for our anniversary and additionally, we ordered popcorn for all our guests as favors.
They then said "we don't offer this service to just anyone but we love you guys and we want to offer our concierge cake cutting service! We'll even make sampler plates for your guests to try all your flavors." We figured, "Hey, it's our wedding day, we'll never order a cake like this for ourselves again, plus our guests have been waiting over 2 years to celebrate with us, let's make it special."
Two days before the wedding, we dropped by for one last meeting. We were excited to keep the top tier for our anniversary, and they agreed with us.
The day of wedding:
-they were an hour and 15 minutes late
-they didn't call or text us to inform us that they were running late
-when my coordinator called, they denied providing a measurable ETA
-upon arrival and throughout the night, they were frazzled installing the cake. Some guests who arrived early to help in the setup even noticed.
-they were short on the popcorn order
-they (two days later) admitted to putting the wrong cake in one of our tiers
-the third flavor we chose was missing a key ingredient
-they cut and served our top tier because they admitted that they never wrote down that they were supposed to keep the top tier (which isn't true, I saw Martha write it down at the tasting)
-one of the popcorn flavors were wrong
-they told me in the middle of my wedding night that Julie felt sick and they were just going to deliver the cake and not serve it, and by the time I had resolved it with the venue they agreed to cut it, so I lost 10-15 of my wedding unnecessarily stressing out and solving problems
-none of this was properly communicated at the end of the night
-and since they cut the top tier, we took home two boxes of cakes that went to waste
After a talk on the phone, they accepted responsibility, offered to make us three cakes, which we denied because our guests were already gone. The wedding was over. It was a missed opportunity on their part, and I can't get my time back either. They agreed to a 50% refund on the entire order.
The cake as a whole looked beautiful. They've been in the industry for decades so I expected more from them. We worked hard on preventing this type of thing from happening at our wedding. Unfortunately this was the case for us with Tru~Cakes. If you still want to work with them for your special event, good luck!
Sprinkles were introduced to us by our wedding venue and we could not be happier with them.

Thank you so much Sprinkles for our delicious wedding cake!!! We knew the moment we met with Richard that we wanted them to be a part of our big day! Our cake was beautiful and we ...

ff we helpful, kind and professional. The home tasting kit (due to covid) was so much fun! The instructions and guide were helpful. It was great to do it at home with other family members. We had a wonderful time and picked the perfect combinations of flavors. Everyone loved the cake. We are anxiously awaiting the year to go by to eat it again compliments of Sprinkles for the first anniversary cake. Thank you for helping make the wedding perfect!
The cake was great! They delivered on my vision.
Sprinkles Custom Cakes not only delivered such a gorgeous wedding cake, but a delicious one as well! We were deciding between two bakers, Sprinkles and another when we were decidin...
g on a wedding cake vendor. We brought home tasting plates from both companies the same day to make our decision. We had high hopes for the other baker, but when we tasted their cake, the buttercream had a heavy film and the actual cake was dry at best. We were also given a smaller selection of cakes and frosting. When we turned to Sprinkles, our hopes had been dimmed as we thought that perhaps all wedding cakes were simply all show and no flavor. Sprinkles changed our minds. They had a wide selection of cake mixes and frostings for us to mix-and-match and even included a sheet with popular combinations on it. They even included an extra tasting plate for my mother when they asked who would be doing the tasting with us at home. Everything was divine! The owner makes fresh, home-made amaretto for the fillings and frosting. We had such a difficult time deciding on flavors since they were all so delicious and fresh. When we decided on a two-tier cake and got down to pricing, we were pleasantly surprised to discover that this beautiful, gold-foil cake was over $100 less than the other less savory baker we had tried. Additionally, our purchase also includes a free anniversary cake a year from our wedding day! Everything from Sprinkles was spectacular from their customer service to the gorgeous presentation the day of. Thank you Sprinkles!

Covid restrictions. They made sure we still had a great time with our tasting and a beautiful cake despite a change in our original guest count. We can't wait to have more cake for our 1 year anniversary!

ed soooooooo good!!! We highly recommend.
From the very beginning Richard and Naomi were super professional & easy to communicate with.
I sent Richard 3 sample cake photos and he told me honestly what he could achieve and gave insight on how much cake we really needed based on our guest count. He asked detailed questions about my budget, overall vision, and planning was easy.
Since we were planning our wedding during a pandemic, we were able to enjoy a cake tasting plate at home. This was fun for us and we could be totally honest about the flavors we liked.
On the wedding day our cake was beautiful and tasted great. At weddings the cake can be hit or miss but our cake looked great and tasted great.
Our family had leftovers the day after and were raving about the flavors.
I can't wait to celebrate our 1 year anniversary for more cake from Sprinkles Custom Cakes.
My husband wants more of the cake now š so we may have to order a mini cake "just because".
Thanks so much for our beautiful cake.

new we would hire them (we did by the end) lol. He really has a passion for what he does and thatās what made us confident in the decision to go with Sprinkles Custom Cakes, I was supposed to get married on 4/26/2020 but 3 weeks before the pandemic hit, and when I called sprinkles to reschedule and they were very, very accommodating, understanding and empathetic which meant a lot to us. Fast forward to our wedding day 4/18/21 . From the moment we did the room reveal and walked up to the cake display my mouth was to the floor, I was in complete awe on how beautiful the cake looked , from the details, to the design, to the flowers. It was everything I envisioned it to be on our special day. I couldnāt have picked a better place to get my cake from because all my guest were saying how amazing the cake tasted. I had 4 flavors and every single one didnāt come to disappoint! I really canāt thank you guys enough for making my wedding cake a dream come true :)

a tight budget due to covid as many couples are now and Naomi offered us many options that would fit our budget . Even though we weren't spending a few grand on a wedding cake you certainly could not tell with how great we were treated! Richard truly knows how to run a professional business. We can't thank you enough for the beautiful wedding cake that tasted absolutely amazing ! Thank you Richard and Naomi for helping make our day so special!
During a crazy time like the present, Sprinkles did not disappoint! Helpful, professional and a pleasure. They did exactly what I wanted and more! Highly recommend them!

g process was doing a virtual cake tasting with Richard, who walked us through many different cake and filling flavor combinations so we could find the right flavors for our wedding! Two of our three layers was a fan favorite, the Classic Vanilla Cake perfumed with Italian Amaretto. It was gobbled up completely on our wedding day, and we received so many compliments on how wonderful it tasted! We actually ordered a cake meant to feed 75 guests because we wanted leftover cake to take home afterward, but our party of 26 loved the cake so much that they ate the majority of it! The enthusiastic response from our guests is probably the highest compliment we can give to Sprinkles Custom Cakes!
One of the reasons we selected this bakery, aside from the great reviews, is that we will receive a free tier for our first anniversary, so I guess itās ok that we didnāt have any of the Amaretto cake left over to bring home! Also, Sprinkles uses their own vendor to provide any live floral for your cake dĆ©cor, which saves a lot of time and money so you donāt need to involve your florist!
We 100% recommend Sprinkles Custom Cakes for your wedding cake! Ours was delicious and wonderful and even more amazing than we ever could have imagined!

I had heard amazing things about Sprinkles and Richard even before my initial consultation, so I was very excited for the meeting. Everyone raves about how delicious the cake taste...
s and the gorgeous designs (and itās true!). I had always imagined my wedding cake would be part carrot cake, so upon making my consultation appointment, I inquired about it. I was saddened to find out carrot cake was not a wedding cake option.
Upon arriving to Sprinkles for my consultation, we were joyfully greeted by Richard. He was very personable. He showed us around the shop, and within 5 minutes, he let me know that he surprised me and made some sample carrot cake for me for the tasting. It brought me to tears, because again, Sprinkles doesnāt normally do carrot cake for their wedding cakes (at least not the contracted cakes for Alfond Inn), but Richard wants his customers happy.
After showing us some cakes he makes, we sat down to try the flavors. It was quite an experience, as Richard took my fork and created delicious cake bites, mixing the different flavored cakes with a filling, and giving us an idea of all of the possibilities.
It was an amazing experience, as so many of the flavors worked well together. The carrot cake Richard made special for me was very good, but ironically we didnāt end up choosing it because the vanilla raspberry swirl cake with raspberry filling and the chocolate cake with coconut filling stole our stomachs. Collectively, as a group (my parents, myself and my now husband) all liked those two flavors best and felt like our wedding guests would as well.
Richard then asked me how I envisioned the cake to look. He showed me designs that were included in my package and gave me ideas on what would work well together. After about 10 minutes brainstorming, we came up with the most gorgeous design. I walked out of Sprinkles that day knowing it would be the most beautiful wedding cake. And I was not disappointed on my wedding day! The cake was so gorgeous. The design was flawless, classy, elegant, and of course delicious. Thank you Richard for making all of my dreams come true!

nestly- if you want delicious cake, go to Sprinkles!
We chose three types of cake/filling pairs: Marble cake with canolli and chocolate filling, almond cake with cream cheese and strawberry filling, and amaretto cake with amaretto filling. All of our guests were raving about the cake and going for extra slices! Not only are their cakes delicious, but they are also gorgeous! During our tasting, we were able to take a tour of the bakery and their cakes are truly works of art!
Also, everyone who works there is incredibly professional. It was so easy to get in touch with them via phone, email, or in person. They went above and beyond to work closely with our florist (based out of Tampa) to incorporate the flowers and accents. It turned out beautifully! We were so happy to have the cake as the centerpiece of our alfresco dinner!
Sprinkles made our dream cake come to life. We can't wait to work with them again in the future!
Our cake was amazing! Everyone was talking about how delicious it was. We made sure the venue packed up the leftovers and we can't wait to eat it all week.

h our vintage style of the wedding. Richard did not disappoint! He created the most beautiful cake! My family and friends are still talking about it a month later. Besides the look of the cake it was important for us to have a cake that tasted great as well. At the tasting it was so hard to pick between all of the flavors with icing and filling options. We selected their amaretto cake with buttercream frosting. Their amaretto cake is made with his own house made amaretto which is to die for! We even bought an extra cake for our families to eat later in the week since they were staying in Florida for an extra week. We picked a chocolate cake with raspberry filling and chocolate frosting. I continue to follow Sprinkles Custom Cakes on social media and I love all of his work! We are planning to continue to get cakes from Sprinkles Custom Cakes for all future special occasions.
Sprinkles cake is hands down the best Iāve tasted. We met with a few wedding cake vendors, and Sprinkles beat them out by fair. Since I was a kid I always wanted an almond cake wit...
h buttercream for my wedding and itās just what I got! Itās really cool because Sprinkles will do a different filling for every layer. We had a three-tiered cake and chose amaretto cake throughout with cream cheese, coconut and raspberry fillings. It was amazing!! I also wanted a semi-naked cake with soft pinks, greens, and ivory flowers. The vision that I had came to life and it was exactly as I imagined! The cake was so beautiful I didnāt want to cut it! Another plus about going with Sprinkles is they will order and place the flowers all in house! This way I didnāt have to go through my florist and have another step of coordination. Overall, I loved my experience with Sprinkles. Richard and his team are so talented and we are very grateful that they are in Orlando! Canāt wait for my anniversary cake in 1 year!
Words canāt express just how amazing our experience was working with Richard and his team at Sprinkles. From the moment we walked in to his studio we were embraced and felt reassur...
ed that our dream cake would be a reality. Richard took his time to get to know our preferences, designed a beautiful cake with just a few key words from our vision, and was so patient with us every step of the way. The team is truly talented and the best at what they do. The taste of their cakes is so uniquely delicious, the flavors are magical, and the design is remarkably awe inspiring. The best part is that they use BUTTERCREAM!!! We got to pick different flavor combinations for each tier of our wedding cake which was the highlight of our big day. We had my bridal shower, wedding and grooms cake all made by Sprinkles and I canāt wait for many more cakes in years to come. I canāt explain how surprised we were on our wedding day when we saw our cake for the first time. Thank you Sprinkles for helping make our wedding a true fairy tale come true!
Overall amazing experience. When my husband and I went to the cake tasting, we began with a tour of the bakery...and it was so much fun! We got our wedding cake from Sprinkles. It ...
tasted amazing, looked great, and was perfect for our wedding day.
Don't even bother looking at another baker because Sprinkles is the best in Orlando!
I was very particular about the cake for our wedding as we had my grandparents cake topper to ...
use. However, after five minutes (seriously) Richard had drawn out the perfect cake to match our vintage cake topper and our style. Richard made planning and tasting our cake SUCH a fun experience that we could have stayed there all day! Our guests loved our cake and I cannot wait for our first anniversary just so I can eat it again. Hands down, booking Sprinkles was one of the best decisions we made regarding our wedding and we can't thank them enough!
Honestly, I want to have a party every weekend so that I can order more Sprinkles. Even before our initial consultation, I knew we were in good hands with Sprinkles- their past rev...
iews say it all. But once we got there, I just knew my vision was going to come to life. The cake designer sat down with us and my planner to sketch out the cake and take inspiration I liked to make the cake perfect. Then on the wedding day, I was blown away! Not only was the cake INCREDIBLE, but it was so beautiful! So many people asked if it was fake because it looked so pretty and perfect! The amount of flavors and fillings create endless combinations and I don't think I had a bad one. I'm not a big "fruit in cake" person, but their raspberry jam is SOOO good. I'm now strictly a "Sprinkles Cake" lady.
Sprinkles Custom Cakes is always a pleasure to work with and we highly recommend them to our couples & anyone looking for a memorable cake for a special event. Richard and his team...
are so detailed and communicative from the initial conversation to delivery on event day. Even their cake sketches include specifics such as flavors, icing design details, colors, number of servings, and floral placement, which is so helpful to us as wedding planners!

s first caught my attention on Instagram. I was beyond impressed by all the cakes that were being completed in their shop that were not wedding cakes. We wanted a cake that was not only moist and flavorful but also simple and classy. When flying to Orlando and sitting down and meeting with Richard, we knew that he could provide the quality of wedding cake that we wanted. Richard is very professional and answered all of our questions and did a sketch of our cake with all of the details that we had envisioned in the matter of minutes. We received many compliments from our guests on how beautiful and delicious the cake was. Our cake was everything we expected and more. Thank you in helping to make our special day so memorable. We wished we lived in Orlando so we can order cake from you more often but we are looking forward to celebrating our 1-year anniversary with the anniversary cake they will prepare for us!
