We contracted with Straton Hall in April 2022 for our daughter's October 2022 wedding.. The venue highly recommended Straton Hall and had photos of previous events they had done at the venue to share with us. We also reached out to friends in the area who had used them for their large events and they highly recommended them. We came down in April, May and July to meet with Jay and our venue coordination team. I thought we were all on the same page and the event would be amazing.
We had a spectacular tasting in July to run through our menu. For passed appetizers we had mini crab cakes, cocktail corn cakes with mango sauce and signature mocktails. For the main course we had an pear salad with dried cranberries and goat cheese fritters, Prime Rib, Shrimp and Grits, a mac and cheese bar, grilled roasted vegetables, and rolls as well as the bride and groom's cakes. The tasting was fabulous and we felt great about having them as a our caterer.
We had planned for 150 guests and added 50 more guests 4 weeks prior to the wedding to be prepared and not run out of food for a total of 200 guest.
Stacy and I spoke in September after the final floral wasn't correct and got on the same the page with bridal bouquet, arch decor, waterfall arrangement, and confirmed that he had seen the photos we has emailed to Jay in the Spring. The bridal bouquet wasn't included in the quote and we caught that mistake as well.
We did not the get the quality of florals we paid for and arrangements that were paid for were missing from the event including the flower girl halo, candles missing from center pieces, a missing arrangement on one of the beverage tables, and the waterfall arrangement that we had planned for wasn't what we had anticipated. It was pretty but not what we had expressed in design meetings.
The day of the wedding... We did not get 200 chargers for the tables. The reserved tables had chargers on them, the other tables did not. We paid for 9 staff members, we received 4-5 for the event. I can't speak to the appetizers because the wedding party didn't get any. The mocktails were white grape juice and apple juice with sliced apple as garnish. The salad was plated as promised and guests enjoyed it. The main food was cold and the order of guests being served was nothing like we talked about or planned for which cut time off of the dancing segment of the evening. We were told a sous chef would be there to saute the shrimp and that didn't happen. The shrimp and gits were all mixed together and served.
The bride's wedding cake did not have the amount or quality of florals we discussed nor paid for. We were told the cakes would be cut by the bride and groom and taken to the back to be plated and served. The venue staff cut the brides cake leaving the groom's cake uncut until the groom's sister began cutting it with her dinner knife and serving it. embarrassing We ran out of sweet tea before dinner began. A floral arrangement was missing from the container on that table.
We have reached out to Straton Hall several times since the event and have nothing back. It is my understanding that Straton Hall has been sold but Stacy Bass, the owner at the time of the event, has made no attempt to make this right with us.
Sadly, our daughter's wedding was not the caliber of florals, food, or service that we expected, were promised, and paid for a month before the event. Straton Hall dropped the ball and we certainly didn't get $21,000 of service, florals, or food.
I really do not have enough words to thank Stacy, Jay, and the team at Straton Hall for making all of my dreams come true. From the first time we met at the loft to saying "goodbye" after our wedding, they truly felt like a family to us. Stacy took my vision and went beyond what I could have ever imagined- when I look at my pictures I truly cannot believe that was MY wedding. It was SO BEAUTFUL. All of our guests continue to tell us it was the most beautiful and wonderful wedding they have ever been to and I owe so much of that to Stacy. The food was phenomenal. The design, the rentals, the cake, and oh my LORD the flowers were unbelievable. The staff that day went above and beyond to take care of our guests, it was seamless in the middle of a thunderstorm and nobody would have known. I could go on and on about Straton Hall but all you need to know is if you are getting married in St. Simons or really anywhere- call Stacy Bass.
WOW. It's hard to find words for how great Stacy and his team are. Usually, when someone wears a lot of hats, they do each task "okay". Somehow, Straton Hall runs venues, does florals, catering, and event planning, and does each with extreme excellence. We have done countless weddings with the Straton Hall team and they never lack in any area. Food is SPOT ON and creative (request the three types of mac n cheese), the set up is on time and organized, they are super responsive leading up to events, florals are impeccable, events are fun and unique. THEY DO IT ALL!!!
Straton Hall catered our wedding on December 8th and we were beyond amazed at their friendly staff and incredible food! Everything was delicious and our guests kept telling us after the wedding, how great everything was! Stacy was so kind and communicated with me throughout the year leading up to the big day. Thank you so much for helping make our big day so perfect!
It seems to me that you will only have a good experience working with Straton Hall Events if you use them to perform your entire wedding planning process. Unfortunately, they were a preferred contracted wedding vendor with my wedding venue. As they were the only vendor with a functional website at the time that I was choosing them, I made them my first selection. I was assured that they were the best in the state, that being said, I feel that I received subpar service because I wasn't one of their all-inclusive wedding brides, but just a client for a smaller project. It was impossibly hard to receive any e-mails and responses from them. I went months without ever hearing from them, and they were not proactive in the least bit in working with me. I supplied as many photos, examples, and descriptions of what I was looking for, however, they repeatedly refused up until the week of my wedding to supply any sort of photographs or confirmation that they "understood" what I wanted. Stacy, the owner, also called my husband, and aggressively and unprofessionally berated him, saying that he had never been so micromanaged before and that we needed to just "trust them to do their job". That being said, the wedding day came, and I had never been so sorely disappointed in my life at my wedding florals. I repeatedly vocalized my concern to the florist and the wedding venue that I was concerned that they didn't truly understand my vision of what I wanted and what they were going to do on the day of if they did not deliver. Well, it turns out, they didn't deliver what I had asked for, not even close, and nothing was done. So now, I will for the rest of my life have wedding photos that I do not want because of the flowers that I never asked for that they told me to just "trust them because I'll love them". The long and short of it is, even thinking back to all of the e-mails and conversations, the flowers don't look anything like the examples I submitted or the descriptions that I provided to them. I wanted them to submit representative examples of everything that I asked, and even then, they said that they took "inspiration" from those photos, and their "inspiration" and "interpretation" wasn't anything that I wanted in the end. It was so shocking to me that we had to have the wedding venue and other vendors that knew them to get involved before they would even respond to any e-mails or messages, and that when they finally did, they thought it was appropriate to speak so rudely to their clients. Overall, a shockingly dismal day.
If you are looking for someone to make your daughters dream wedding come true, Stacy and his team at Straton Hall will make that happen. As we started planning the wedding In July of 2017 I would hear this many times, “no worries, we got this” and they truly did. My favorite day was Thursday before the wedding. Meg and Stacy had sooooo much fun picking out her flowers and making her bouquet and head piece. How many people would climb a tree for the perfect piece of stag horn fern??? Stacy Bass would. I knew Meg and Brad’s day would be magic and IT was. ❤️
There is nothing bad I can say about Stacy and the Straton Hall team! :) They are AWESOME! The first time I met Stacy, I knew I was going to LOVE working with him! He made wedding planning stress free and enjoyable. Every time we met with them, he made me feel at ease and helped in the decision making process (which I tend to struggle with).
We used Straton Hall for the rehearsal dinner, flowers, catering for the wedding, venue/wedding decor, and the bride's cake. I gave him very basic descriptions on how I wanted my flowers to look and they turned out amazing. The colors were beautiful together and everyone keeps talking about them! The food was great for both the rehearsal dinner and wedding reception. The appetizers during cocktail hour were a huge hit! Our destination wedding was a huge success and a party we will never forget! You can't go wrong choosing Straton Hall Events!
Once we met with Stacy and his incredible staff, we knew right away that they understood our vision and were excited to help take our ideas to the next level.
Since this was a destination wedding for us, it was very important that our planning partners were experienced in the Golden Isles, and knew the ins and outs of event planning in the area. With over 20 years producing and coordinating countless stylish events, the choice to work with Stacy and Straton Hall was a no brainer.
Stacy and his team are available at any moment to consult, advise, and collaborate to make sure every detail is perfect. From the unique and delicious food and beverage options, to the wide variety of floral and style accents available from Straton, they truly have the tools to bring your ideas to life!
It was a delight working with Stacy. His calm and creative energy made planning a dream! He is beyond talented, and will truly wow you with his expertise and keen eye! Stacy and his team are incredible, passionate, and nothing less then fabulous! We are over the moon with how our wedding turned out! The day was everything thing we wanted, and more! Not only did we end up with the most magical celebration, we made memories and forged loving, lasting friendships with Stacy and his team.
Love, Brad and Meg
My Husband and I got married May 11th on Jekyll Island. Planning a destination wedding it is important to hire someone you can trust. Jay went above and beyond. He was a joy to work with, was always prompt to respond and we benefited from his local knowledge. He put us at ease, made my mom happy (which is hard to do) and created a beautiful memorable wedding. We will be forever grateful to him and his team! And the grits really are amazing.
Much Love,
Erica & Chris
My husband and I were married on March 31, 2018 in St. Simons Island with the ceremony at Lovely Lane Chapel and our reception at Village Creek Landing. Straton Hall did an incredible job of organizing and planning out every detail from the time we got off the trolleys from the ceremony venue to the sparkler send off at the finale of the night. Jay Anderson and his team are amazing! Jay was in communication with us throughout the months of planning from taste-testing to approving reception site set-ups. The decorations were perfect, food and beverages were incredible, and the cake was absolutely beautiful. We would not have had our wedding weekend any other way!
My husband and I got married this past weekend at the Crane Cottage and truly could not have dreamed of a more perfect day. Thanks to Stacy and his team, all of my dreams became a reality and the entire venue was absolutely breathtaking. I am eternally grateful for Straton Hall's wonderful work and would highly recommend them!
Stacey and the rest of his team at Straton Hall made our wedding day an absolute fairy tale. From the start of planning all the way up until the big day, he made every decision and detail as stress free as possible. I highly recommend Straton Hall Events to any newly engaged couple!
Straton Hall Events did an indescribably amazing job with my wedding this past November. Their staff was friendly and efficient and they were a pleasure to work with...I didn't have to worry about anything because they took care of it all!!!! They really made my big day so incredibly BEAUTIFUL from the cake, to the flowers and of course, the delicious food. Straton Hall Events EXCEEDED my expectations and I highly recommend them for your next event!!!
Me and my husband got married October 14, 2017 on Jekyll Island and utilized Straton Hall as our florist.
If I was rating the beauty of the flowers and how perfect they were I would easily give the highest rating!
We were on a limited budget with flowers, and Stacy really did work with us. However, the excel sheets he sends with "updated" prices are often confusing and not completely updated. I will say that this made me nervous in the planning process, but once I saw the outcome I can say that he most certainly is paying attention to what you want.
**I will also note that the majority of our planning happened right after Hurricane Irma hit Georgia, so this may have had an affect on Stratons Halls catching up on missed work.
Jay & Straton Hall,
We cannot say thank you enough for our perfect wedding weekend. Straton Hall coordinated our rehearsal dinner at the Village Creek Landing and the wedding reception at the Lighthouse on St. Simons. Every detail was absolutely perfect.
Jay was so helpful throughout the planning process, from suggesting the perfect menus for our wedding reception and rehearsal dinner, to designing the perfect flower arrangements, bouquets, and table settings.
Thank you Straton Hall for your creativity, responsiveness, and execution. We will be sure to recommend you to every bride and groom considering a wedding in the coastal Georgia area!
Best,
Mary Emily & Chad
Amazing!!!! Went above and beyond to ensure I had a beautiful day. They responded promptly whenever I called or emailed, and met with me many times before the wedding. They were great at coordinating everything and gave the perfect recommendations. The food was so good too! I received so many compliments. There is no way I could've pulled everything off without them. Everything was great, especially the food and cake. Big thanks to them!
Everything was absolutely perfect! Stacy and Jay made all of my wedding day dreams come true. They had all of the details covered and I didn't have to worry about anything. I can't thank them enough!!
FIVE STARS doesn't do Straton Hall Events justice! Our wedding day was happy and carefree, and everything I had ever dreamed. We chose them for our dream day! They exceeded our expectations from start to finish! Jay was my first contact with Straton. His proactive nature, unparalleled attention to detail, genuine caring and FUN personality made the planning enjoyable. We hired them for the design and rentals, FOOD, cake, FLOWERS... They took care of it all! Even though I emailed him numerous times with questions and changes, he promptly got back to me with suggestions and solid solutions. We chose the Historic City Hall in downtown Brunswick for both the ceremony AND reception. I fell in love with all of the wood and marble, the romantic feel of the place. I was very pleased with Jay's flexibility and creativity with our menu. We had a Tasting that Jay made so fun, especially for my fiancé. The menu was fresh, in season and as local as possible. I talked with Stacy and Lulu about flowers and that I wanted mostly greenery, succulents, and candles and that's exactly what we got, PLUS. There were CANDLES everywhere, along both sides of the aisle and at the front, even floating in big glass containers. There were soft purple flowers, delicate blush ones, different shades of succulents, and huge flowers called African Proteas. Gorgeous! Carla Pryor of St Simons Elopements was our officiant and she was awesome! Things went so smoothly and her words were very meaningful and perfect for us as a couple. After the ceremony, guests were asked to go downstairs for cocktails. Drinks were passed and there was a beautiful display of domestic and imported cheeses accented with flatbreads along with seasonal melons, garden fresh berries paired with fresh cream for dipping. We had a lot of moving pieces the day of the wedding and everything went off without a hitch. Jay and bartender Margo even brought us drinks and reminded us to eat. While we were mingling downstairs, the Straton team had obviously been busy upstairs. Dividing walls had been opened up and the now huge space had been turned into our reception. Tables with flowers, greenery garlands, CANDLES and food stations. The main ones had tender Chicken breasts with creamy sauce and Mushrooms, and a nice garden selection of grilled and roasted Vegetables. The Deluxe Mac and Cheese Station drew a crowd! It included what they called Delilah's Mac (a Southern seven cheese wonder!) and White Mac (Monterey Jack, White Cheddar, Mozzarella and Gruyere gooey goodness!) that you could then top with your choice of Pesto Chicken, Oven Roasted Tomatoes, Pulled Pork, Chives, Jambalaya Sauce, Bacon Bits, Andouille Sausage and Roasted Baby Sweet Peppers. Definitely DELUXE! Jay suggested Coastal Shrimp and Grits, one of Straton's signature recipes. Turned out to be THE culinary hit of the evening paired with a combination of Andouille Sausage Cream and stone ground Grits. We had so many compliments about the food that night, and our family and friends are STILL raving about how delicious everything was! The cake looked just like the photo Jay had shown his pastry chef. And tasted divine, LEMON! At the end of the evening, Stacy escorted us downstairs where our guests were waving sparklers and a sleek 1940s Cadillac was waiting for us. Mr. Martin, our chauffeur, was so kind! Another referral from Straton, Martin's Wedding Transportation. Thank you so much Straton Hall Events for making our special day perfect!
Straton Hall Events produced my daughter's wedding this past Saturday. Although I'm indirectly in the business, when it's your "little girl" a mama wants everything perfect AND on a budget. Jay took over and told us to leave it to him... and we pretty much did. He made her feel SO special, and the ceremony and reception could not have been more dreamy! She was beaming the whole time, SO happy! Family and friends loved the food, especially the shrimp & grits. And the wedding cake was both delicious and beautiful! Thanks to Stacy and Lulu, her flowers and decor were just what she envisioned! Purple, green, ivory silks, flowers, candles! Gorgeous! Thanks for making my daughter's day PERFECT!
Straton Hall Events is ABSOLUTELY amazing. A 5 star rating is not high enough for Jay and Stacy. Their creativity and attention to detail cannot be matched. You will not go wrong choosing Straton Hall Events. We used Straton Hall for our Rehearsal Dinner at the picturesque Village Creek Landing and for our wedding ceremony and reception flowers. Everything was out of this world. Finally, I cannot thank Stacy enough for not only the time and energy he put into my wedding, but also the friendship and honesty he provided. Great vendor. Great people. You cannot go wrong.
Stratton Hall FAR exceeded any expectations I ever had. From the beginning Jay Anderson was amazing. He put my mind at ease every time I started to worry. They did an amazing job for our rehearsal dinner and reception. The food, flowers and decorations were absolutely perfect!
My husband and I eloped in a private ceremony in front of our immediate family but still planned on holding a small reception a year later for family and friends on St. Simons Island in Georgia. Catering was our #1 priority for the reception and we came across Straton Hall Events (thanks to our coordinator at Design South Studios) and I couldn't have been happier with the selection! I worked with Jay from the beginning and he was knowledgeable of our venue (Casino Building/Atrium) and put together a fantastic menu for our Low Country Boil theme. He worked with our budget, was quick to respond, and coordinated a beautiful rustic layout with props and wildflowers! We continue to receive compliments on the meal (especially the tomato&cucumber salad, mac&cheese, and cornbread) in addition to a spread of southern deserts (pecan pie, banana pudding, and carrot cake). Everything were incredible! Furthermore - huge compliments to the Chef, Bartender, & Wait staff for a wonderful reception/evening!
My daughter was married on March 19, 2016 and we used Straton Hall for the bridesmaids' luncheon, they made the dessert for the Rehearsal Dinner, they made the wedding cake, and did all the flowers for the church, wedding party, and the reception. They were all absolutely amazing!!!! The luncheon was done in their loft and the girls all had wonderful food, drinks and made their own bouquets with Stacy's help. It was so unique and fun! The loft is a beautiful area and the experience was top notch. The wedding cake and the cannoli tower that they made was absolutely delicious and so beautiful. What talent they possess! As if all of that wasn't enough, the venue was decorated to the hilt by their team and looked so lovely! They absolutely take care of every little detail and are true professionals in every way. Book them and then don't give anything another thought. They have it all under control!!!
We used Straton Hall's downtown loft and their catering for our rehearsal dinner. Could not have been more pleased. They handled every detail and remembered our requests from a quick meeting at a crowded bridal show! They listen, anticipate your needs and go well beyond in the execution of the event. We were very pleased and highly recommend them for ALL your event needs.
I showed him one picture of the wedding cake I wanted. It looked exactly like it. It was delicious.
All of the food was delicious.
You have to try their restaurant in downtown Brunswick, GA called The Southern Table and Bar.
We were running behind a bit, so our food for our reception got cold. It wasn't on burners or anything to keep it warm, so even if we weren't late, it would have gotten cold. Our cake was absolutely fantastic through them. Also, they didn't tell me until a couple weeks before that there was a $3000 minimum for our wedding date. We might have gone somewhere else had we known since we only had 30 guests.
We hired Starton Hall for our catering, without having tried the food because our wedding planner suggested them based on past experiences and their ability to add decor to catering tables. We were originally quoted for just food with the decor for cocktail hour and through the entire reception (5 hours), then a month to go before the wedding Stacy Bass (owner) changed it to only being there for 2 hours because we were using another vendor for plates (because he only ever told me that he had gold rimmed plates, which did not match the theme for the wedding). He refused to touch the plates from the other vendor or serve my cake because it was purchased from another vendor. It caused so many headaches, including me almost having to use my family to cut/serve the cake and wash the dishes at the end of the night. I'm sure if you want to use Straton Hall for everything (food, drinks, cake, dishes, silverware, etc) it would be fine but the second you add another vendor to the event he will screw you over.
