As your wedding day approaches, there are many details to think about and with over 1100 happy brides, I know how to make your day special. Our hair and makeup artists create a hairstyle that is most flattering for you and/or your wedding party. We make sure that you have picture perfect makeup for your special day for memories to last a lifetime. All of this is done at the location of your choice. Prior to your wedding day, we will meet to discuss your wishes and try different hairstyles and makeup colors to see what is best suited for you. The day of your wedding, we’ll meet at your location to style your hair, affix your headpiece and apply your makeup.
We’re also available to help with your dress and always happy to provide last-minute hair and makeup assistance to your wedding party.

he would be out to my hotel after a wedding session and she ghosted me, left me high and dry! If she would have told me she wasn't coming I could have made other arrangements but NO! of my wedding because they kept pushing back the time they would show up. This was concerning because they only had one person to do hair (Joy) and another to do makeup for me, my mother and the bridal part. Every time I questioned what time we should start hair and makeup, I was assured we’d have plenty of time. And maybe we would have it they hadn’t shown up late. Hair was at least 45 mins late and make up was at least an hour late. As a result, everyone was rushing and one of the bridesmaids was burned on her face with a curling iron. In addition, we ended up starting the wedding late, and had to rush pictures.
Joy seemed nice and was very willing to do whatever was needed to make sure I loved my hair and makeup. Unfortunately, by the time it was my turn, I just wanted it done so I could get dressed and get to the wedding. If you are going to use her, I’d strongly suggest building in extra time for hair and makeup if you have multiple people getting hair and make up done.

es, so I cannot write a review regarding her work. However, I will write a review as to what led to making my decision to cancel our contract with only 13 weeks before my wedding.
Joy has fair reviews and her price range is decent, which is why I made the decision to book her. Shortly after booking her in September 2018, I noticed a few red flags that I tried to ignore over the months.
I want to preface this with reiterating that I did not receive services for her work, but I am writing this review in order to warn future brides and maybe provide Joy with some ways to improve her business.
In short, her communication is not prompt, and her organization and use of technology is not up to par in order to run a business to serve clients.
The first red flag: We communicated at first via TheKnot, apparently her account is not up to date and she cannot receive documents. Not a problem, email is much easier for me anyway. However, I didn't know this. She sent me the documents via TheKnot, so I assumed this is her preferred method of communication. She replied requesting that I send them to her via email, but didn't provide an email. I had to follow up on it.
Second red flag: She got my name wrong in an email... (It's in the email...)
Third red flag: Kathryn P's review.
At this point, I pushed all of these aside because these were minor mistakes, and the review was done in 2011. She could have improved since.
Fourth red flag: Her response to Sheree E's review in 2017. This is when I began to have major concerns, but at this point I had already signed the contract. In her response to this client, Joy never apologizes. I have worked in customer service and even if the client/customer is wrong, a professional handles it with much more grace than what she displayed. Joy's comment seemed defensive and unprofessional. A better way to handle a situation like this would have been to apologize at minimum. "I am so sorry you were not happy with the services you received..." would be a great start.
The final strike: I contacted Joy a little over a week ago to schedule a trial run for my wedding. I had to follow up with her a week later on my request. At that point, she emailed me back saying she did not have my contract, but knew that my wedding was in Bluffton (not even close). I had emailed my contract to her September 10, 2018 and it is now February 2019. Because of her lack of basic tech skills and organization, I did not feel comfortable trusting her to provide adequate services.
Her response was unprofessional and excused herself with the fact that her phone crashed back in December and was only able to retrieve the basic spreadsheet. No professional strictly uses their phone to run their business. Regardless, it was via email. A simple search on ANY device would have turned up the contract as I did in order to confirm that I sent it Sept. 10, 2018.

ble when she was finished and I cancelled her for my wedding day. Also be aware of signing a contract with her because you may be stuck with a bad updo. She was only supposed to charge $275 per our signed contract. She took advantage of my mother in law and charged her $350. Then when I requested my money back she did not inform me that my mother in law had paid $350 and made us believe that she was being kind enough to give us $150 back out of the $275 originally agreed upon amount. Eleven days following cancelling her services, she still has not refunded any of the $150 she stated she would refund and actually increased her total amount refusing to refund anything. I allowed her two opportunities during the trial run to provide an acceptable result, she could not. I would love to share pictures, but this site will not allow it in comments. If you are planning on having your wedding at Fripp Island or any where around there I would not recommend using her. Don't waste your money!!!! In fact you would be better off doing your hair and makeup yourself.

She was able to come to Edisto to complete my look and also completed our bridesmaids hair and makeup!
On the day of the event, Joy arrived when she said she was going to and got everyone done when she said she would. My hair looks AMAZING and my makeup was perfect and exactly how I described!
I am so thankful to have gone with Joy and her daughter for my big day as she listened and make sure myself and my bridesmaids were 100% happy!

Joy a picture of my hair and we decided she was just going to do a simple make up. I don’t usually wear makeup and was obviously very nervous about everything. Joy and I spoke on the phone and she was very reassuring and supportive.

ne who could do make up. Joy Ross was an obvious suggestion from many of my local co-workers. She includes a hair trial in all of her pricing, and when I went for mine, she actually did my hair 3 separate times to make sure it was what I had in mind. We discussed what I was going for in the makeup, and tried several different lashes to achieve the eyes I had in mind. Throughout the trial she took notes and photos for the day of. On wedding day, Joy was prompt and prepared; she set up very quickly and made everyone feel at ease. My sister is very opinionated, my maid of honor has short thin hair, my other bridesmaid has the worst split ends known to man-kind and I have A LOT of long thick wavy hair, Joy was able to make all our styles look cohesive and beautiful. My mother is very picky about her makeup and looked and felt amazing when Joy was done with her. All of our hair stayed in all night and the makeup was still flawless after the hours of tears and sweat. When you are working with Joy, she is relaxed, interested and fun loving, but don’t get me wrong, she likes people to be ready. For my trial, I had pictures of my dress, hair piece and ideas of what I wanted going in, and on the day of, I had my bridesmaids do the same. If you or your bridesmaids are notoriously late, plan ahead or it will cost you. Fortunately, that is not in my personality and we were ready to go. I would highly recommend Joy to anyone looking for a professional at-home experience where you don’t have to worry about the results.

my dry run! She also did my makeup for the dry run, but brought her assistant to do my makeup for the ceremony. Her assistant was 16 years old...not what I was expecting. My MOH ended up blending my foundation in, because her assistant did not, aand Joy didn't notice before she left. She did provide a nice kit for touch ups and emergencies, which was nice. Definitely overpriced for a 16 year old to do my and my bridal party's makeup.
