They were there on time. Cut and served the cake. Very clean neat. The reception food was delicious We would use them again.

I could not recommend Sugar and Spice more! We used them for heavy appetizers and desserts at our wedding of 500 guests. We had so many compliments on how “this was the best wedding food we have ever tasted”! I totally agree. Their food is not only amazing, but they are so kind and accommodating. Oreo is my husband’s favorite dessert and they created a whole new oreo brownie and oreo cookie recipe to have for him at our wedding! They also got brand new serving dishes to match the style of our wedding. I will be using them for every party ever!

I cannot get over this food!! We did the pasta bar and it was sooo good. People keep bringing up how yummy the food and cake were!! I would recommend them and give their name to anyone looking for a caterer!!

*The pasta bar was AMAZING!! Two types of pasta, 2 sauces, salad, bread, and vegetables. Just the right amount of food. *We also had them make the cake & cupcakes. We had 6 different flavors of cupcakes. Each one was delicious and moist. *They provided the plates, silverware, napkins, cups, drinks, tablecloths, and servers. *Highly recommend this vendor. Very easy to work with; great communication; great serve; and most importantly, great food!

From the beginning, Sugar and Spice Catering was excellent to work with. We worked with Katrina and Rebecca who always responded in a very timely manner and were very easy to reach if any changes or questions arose. They are very well priced, especially considering how amazing their food, cake, and overall service was. We chose to serve the white wine chicken, brisket, all the sides, and a white almond single-tier wedding cake. Our guests just raved about how delicious the white wine chicken, brisket, and loaded potatoes were! Our head chef (Jason) was amazing! We had a family friend bake the sheet cakes for our guests, but Jason cut, plated, served the cake on top of all the other tasks he was doing. I would recommend Sugar and Spice Catering for any and all events!

Sugar and Spice made our cake for our wedding. We did a small 2 tiered cake for cutting and decorative, with two sheet cakes to be cut and placed out for guests. The cake looked exactly as we agreed on at our final meeting and we had tons of compliments from guests on how good the cake was. The almond cake is amazing!

This family owned business is truly AMAZING!!! Rebecca and Katrina were wonderful to work with and answered all of our questions. The food was delicious and our wedding cake was incredible!!! We also did hor dourves and cupcakes, which again were SO good!! They also decorated our cake with the flowers that the florist brought. The staff was so nice and respectful. I would highly recommend!!!

Sugar and spice catered my rehearsal dinner and did an INCREDIBLE job. The food was so good, the cupcakes were talked about all night, and the service is wonderful! We had quite a bit of leftovers and they packaged it up and donated it for us. I can’t recommend them more!

These ladies are absolutely AMAZING!!! From the moment we met them we just fell in love, we love the family business. Their cake and cupcakes are the best I have ever tasted, the frosting reminded us of my grandmas and it made that even more special! They truly put their whole heart and energy into everything they do, they always have a smile on their face and give off such happy energy! They have become our friends, not just who made our cake and cupcakes! They made our wedding cake look stunning, they had 5 different flavors of cupcakes and made our rehearsal dinner cake. Their food is amazing as well, I will always recommend them for any catering needs because they are just so good. For them it is not all about the food and desserts, it is truly making the couples happy, giving them what they really want and building a friendship. Thank you all for everything you have done for us, all night I got compliments on that wedding cake flavor! You guys are the best!!

Sugar & Spice did our catering for our wedding on 8/29/2021. They were the first and only caterer that we went for a food demo - we were blown away with the quality, value, and how welcome we felt. They supported us through two reschedules and were communicative the entire time and helpful with our modifications. We had chicken diane, roast beef with au jus, loaded mashed potatoes, southern green beans, corn, salad, and rolls. If you give them an accurate guest count, you will have PLENTY of food. At least a third of our guests went back for seconds and there was still a ton of leftovers. We trusted S&S with our cake cutting and they did an amazing job. They also helped us by making sure our top layer was safely moved to our cake saver. MUCH APPRECIATED! The crew that served at our wedding were on time, answered all of our questions, were dressed professionally, and made sure our guests had everything they needed. I cannot imagine doing our wedding without S&S and we look forward to having them cater any events we hold in the future. THANK YOU!!

We had a taco bar and everyone loved it! The cake was delicious even though we only got one bite everyone else said it was the best. Katrina was really helpful with discussing costs and lowering our guest count significantly due to Covid.

S&S has the softest, fluffiest, delicious cake in the KC metro. I can only best describe their cake as “a cloud” - it literally melts in your mouth. I am picky about wedding cake and had 5 different tastings, and S&S was my favorite hands down. They did my sister’s wedding 8 years ago and their cake is just as good now as it was then. My wedding guests raved about the cake and had multiple pieces! ALL of the flavors they offer are to die for. We had 4 different flavors because we just couldn’t decide on 1! We will be getting an anniversary cake from S&S because it’s just that memorable!

Although our wedding was ultimately canceled due to Covid, our catering was to be from Sugar and Spice in Parkville. They were really sweet to work with, and their food is wonderful. They let us sample their taco bar and pasta bar, both were amazing. We were also looking forward to that delicious cake, so we are going to order a small cake to eat on what would be our reception date. Flexible with changing the date, understanding with canceling, open communication throughout. These ladies were incredibly sweet to work with, and we would definitely recommend them!

We booked Sugar and Spice as our food caterer and cake/cupcake maker. Everyone loved the food (the potatoes are to die for!) and everyone especially loved the cakes! So moist and delicious! They brought linens and set everything up very nicely. They did a great job! Thank you!!

Sugar and Spice did great with our wedding. Leading up to our wedding, they were so good about meeting with us and making sure that we got what we wanted on our menu... even a last minute addition of a sheet cake! Their staff was professional and efficient at our reception too.

First off, the cakes they make are absolutely delicious! The only reason for the 3 stars was due to miscommunication. I mentioned exactly what I wanted our cupcakes to be decorated like at our in person meeting and they gave me a quote. It wasn't until a couple of weeks before the wedding that I sent them some ideas of what I was thinking and she informed me that they would have to up charge for what I wanted even though we had already discussed in the meeting. Other than that, all was well.

We used sugar and spice for our cake! We discovered them at a bridal expo and their cake stood out among all the different cakes we tried that day! It was hard to choose a flavor, everything we tried was delicious! All of our guests raved about how our cake was the best wedding cake they’ve ever had. Not too sweet, moist, and great flavor! We are extremely happy and can’t wait to eat it again in a year!

Out of all of my vendors, I was the happiest with Sugar & Spice! I originally went with them because they were minutes from my venue, but I’m SO glad I did. Rachel made TONS of substitutions for me, especially since my venue didn’t allow outside water/lemonade/etc. that the caterer usually provides. I rented my tablecloths through her, and even though her normal supplier didn’t have the right color she found someone who did! Everyone raved about the food! The mashed potatoes were out of this world. The crew even stayed until the end of the night and took the tablecloths so I wouldn’t have to worry about returning them to her! And the cake was BEAUTIFUL and DELICIOUS. It was exactly what I wanted. The S&S team was all around fantastic, and I’d recommend them to anyone!!

We were very happy to have worked with sugar and spice for our wedding! Their appetizers and desserts were very delicious, and they did a great job of helping us execute our vision for our reception. They gave us a lot of advice, but were also open to new ideas to make the meal perfect. For example: I had always wanted to have mini pies as a wedding cake alternative and sugar and spice experimented with their pie recipe and made the mini pies work perfectly!

The groom is the pickiest person when it came to cake. He likes only traditional white cake but the flavor and moisture have to be there and this was the best white cake we found in the KC area! Had so many compliments on how good the cake was afterwards and we simply did sheet cakes for our guests and a small tier cake for ourselves

THE BEST WEDDING CAKE EVER! We first taste tested Sugar and Spice's wedding cake at a wedding expo, and immediately knew it was something special. It was amazing! We then called them and booked a real taste testing session, and the cake was just as good as the sampler we tried at the expo. We booked them immediately for the cake. We had the white cake with the sweet icing, and then the red velvet with the cream cheese icing. Both were absolutely delicious! Our guests had many compliments about the cake too. Rebecca, the new owner of Sugar and Spice, was kind enough to let us borrow a cake stand as well. She was really easy to work with, and was able to provide us with the perfect cake. I highly recommend getting your wedding cake from Sugar and Spice!

Sugar and Spice catered our wedding reception on 10/13/17 and we couldn't be more pleased with their services! The food and cake were all amazing and we had tons of compliments on the food from guests. Rebecca (owner) went out of her way to make sure everything was perfect for us, and the value for what we received was the best around! We highly recommend!

Great food and amazing cake

So thankful that we used Sugar and Spice as our wedding caterer and for our cake! The food was delicious and the process throughout the year was smooth. The pricing was also very good! The great thing is that my parents used Sugar and Spice 30 Years ago and now I was able to use them. They have been around for so long for a reason and that is because of the delicious food and amazing customer service. I would recommend them to anyone!

Sugar and Spice catering was great! I had 4 different kinds of cupcakes and a 6-inch cake for my wedding, and every single of them was perfect. From the beginning they were incredibly fast to respond to emails and phone calls. Once we decided to use their services, they were always available to answer any questions we had and helped to guide us through the process. At the wedding the food and cake were incredible! Our guests commented on how delicious everything was! Their team helped make sure the bridal party got enough food, which was amazing as we all know how hard it is for the bride and groom to eat on their wedding day. Well, we ate, and it was amazing! My daughter used Sugar and Spice Catering for her wedding on Memorial Day weekend 2015. I was a bit worried about the distance between the venue and Sugar and Spice's kitchen (a little over an hour away) but Larry assured me it was not an issue and they showed up timely and ready to go to work. The food was excellent, the cake was beautiful and the service was top notch! Also the presentation and staff was very professional. i HIGHLY recommend Sugar and Spice for your wedding reception. You will be in good hands.

I am a meat and potatoes girl and thats exactly what I wanted for our first meal as husband and wife. Their brisket and smoked turkey are to die for. Also, the loaded mashed potatoes are off the charts! (real potatoes, not instant.) Loved the owner too.

This company was recommended to us by The Weston Red Barn Farm and the food was fantastic! We had BBQ which fit the venue perfectly. They were in and out like absolute ninjas and set the Buffet up in awesome old school silver catering dishes that I loved. Professionals, easy to work with, and most importantly, Amazing food.

The food was really good which is all that mattered. You can get everything needed for a reception from these guys. They do appetizers, food, cake & table cloths. The only thing that was frustrating was the guy who owns the business is really bad at calling you back after you have left a message for him.

Sugar & Spice did a great job catering my April 2014 wedding. We received several compliments from our guests on how fresh and delicious the food/cake was! Jennifer did an amazing job on my cake. She listened to my “vision” and turned it into reality. Since we didn’t need full-service due to our small guest list, Larry and Jennifer delivered and set up the food at our home while we were still at the chapel getting married. When we arrived at home, everything was beautifully displayed and ready to go! Pricing was also very reasonable. I would definitely recommend Sugar & Spice to anyone who needs a caterer for ANY occasion. Thanks Larry and Jennifer for taking care of us!

We met with Jennifer of S&S and we immediately liked her. She seemed like she'd be very easy to work with, organized, etc. If only. I understand she is also doing their cakes & therefore busy but maybe that means she shouldn't be our point of contact. We booked them and put a deposit down, we contacted them about getting tasting options. When we first met with them we were told to give them a list of things to try. We looked over some of the typ. menu items and ones we wanted to try and sent them a list. We waited a week or two and heard nothing back... Finally I called and got the main cook who took down the items we wanted & he told us when we could come get them. We showed up that day (to Jennifer’s surprise) and they put together a group of to go boxes for us. They were not at all what we asked for. I'm certain they were just whatever they were preparing that day for other events. So we tried the things they gave us & we found some things we liked & thought we were making progress. We emailed them a list of the things we liked & some other things we might want to try but more or less had a menu figured out. No response. More emails… phone calls. Nothing. Finally a full month & a half of emails & calls with no response, we found a new caterer. We called to fire them and lo & behold, a response! We were given some excuse like our file never got switched over from prospective to client or something but this was MONTHS after hiring them, emailing them & having talked to the on the phone, gotten food from them & oh yeah, paying them a deposit. We promptly demanded our deposit back, which we received & went on our merry way with another caterer. Working with Sugar and Spice gave us huge headaches. They clearly need to hire someone who simply deals with communications because they are more than just terrible at it.

I was extremely lucky when choosing a caterer for our wedding. I found Sugar and Spice online and loved their pricing. When I went and met with them and tasted the food I was sold! They did an amazing job of setting everything up, food tasted good and the cake was AMAZING! We got a lot of complements on our food choices. They have great prices and very tasty food! I would definantly recommend Sugar and Spice!

The food and cake was exactly as promised - delicious. Their service was a huge plus and they were so much fun to work with for almost a year before our wedding. Jennifer especially has a great sense of humor; I ended up sending her a small gift after the wedding as a special thanks. The whole team was professional looking and I still have people talking about their mashed potatoes. We plan on ordering to take to our family Thanksgiving meal this year if Larry will let us! My wedding was over 4 months ago and I'm still receiving compliments on the cake and food. I send everyone to them - in fact, 3 other teachers at my school have either booked them for their upcoming weddings or have an appointment set up with them. We had a prime rib carving station and Boursin chicken, both were excellent -and the cake was to die for - we picked one of the designs that Jennifer had featured in KC Star Weddings magazine and weren't disappointed one bit. Larry and Jennifer were a great team to work with, as I could always get ahold of one of them and both of them could answer any question I had. We fell in love with Jennifer as soon as we met her....then we tried the food and cake and were sold. The garlic mashed potatoes that the owner makes are the best potatoes I've ever eaten and their cake almost tastes like angel food cake, it is so moist. I've seen a lot of reviewers remark about the cake but you just can't tell how great it is until you try it. Our wedding day went off without a hitch - Jennifer even snuck us out a plate of appetizers while we were taking pictures and saved us a piece of each flavor of wedding cake too. I'd recommend them to anyone - and their prices are really reasonable too. Beth & Nate Edwards

More than a month later, we still have people raving over our cake. It looked great and was the best tasting cake we found in the Kansas City area. They have great choices and were dedicated to making sure we were happy with our cake.

We used them for food and cake, food was good and cake was amazing!!!! Plan on ordering a small version of their cake every year for our anniversary because it is that good!

We had sugar and spice catering for our wedding. They seemed to be the best food for the cost that we found in KC. The food at the wedding was good and we also got a few compliments on the brisket. The service was decent but we did feel that they were somewhat unorganaized. I felt that I had to hassle them a bit to get the total cost of the catering and to get details lined up.

Sugar and Spice Catering offered good food options for the guests I knew I would have and their prices were straightforward and fit my budget. My only criticism is that it sometimes took two emails to get a response in the weeks before the wedding as I was trying to make sure my ducks were all in a row. The event itself went perfectly. They were on time. They had a nice set up. They constantly cleared food and trash from guest table without even being noticeable, and as the night came to an end, I looked over and saw that they had completely cleaned their area and had leftovers perfectly wrapped up for taking home.

We catered our wedding reception through Sugar and Spice and were very happy with them. We got their Pasta Bar. It was delicious food, and our guests loved it. They are very reasonably priced. The owner, Larry, is very helpful and easy to work with.

Jennifer is a true artist, and her cakes TASTE AMAZING! My husband didn't even really want cake, but after he tasted Jennifer's, he was glad I insisted on cake. She does not use fondant, but she can create most any look you want. My cake turned out exactly as I wanted--and it was so beautiful. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because when I needed to give Jennifer updated info about the size of cake and style we wanted, several of my phone calls and e-mails were not responded to, and if I hadn't taken several days off work just prior to the wedding, it would have been extremely difficult to get the final plan worked out. Everything came together in the end, but it was rather last-minute and stressful for me. From what I understand, there were extenuating circumstances, so this is probably not typical for Jennifer.

This caterer was very easy to work with. The only thing that was a little frustrating was getting the final bill all put together...for me this didn't happen until 4 days before the wedding only adding to my stress level. However, once everything was added correctly and accounted for, the buffet-style dinner was delicious and we got many compliments. The servers did more than they were asked making our reception go very smooth.

Worst decision that we could have ever made was to use this caterer! They are absolutely unresponsive to phone calls and it appears by the last review to emails as well. I called initially to set up a meeting with them and no response-my fiancee had to contact Jennifer directly on Facebook. We finally had a meeting with Larry and we put a deposit down for our date. A few weeks out from the wedding we decided we might want them to also do the cake and we wanted to finalize the wedding menu-I called and left messages twice so did my fiancee-you guessed it no return calls! My fiancee stopped into their office and had one of Larrys employees leave a note and said we need a call back or we are going to find another caterer-no call! I called one more time and low and behold he answered! I told him we had been trying to call and no apology just "I guess I am hard to get ahold of" so we begrudgingly made another appt with him to taste cake and finalize our menu and guess what he was late! With NO apology. He sits down and acts like he is doing us a favor by being there and we voiced out concerns and instead of apologizing and admitting their faults he asked if we wanted our money back-my fiancee said yes and he gave us a check made out the wrong person! Do yourself a favor and DO NOT USE THEM. It will just add more stress and frustration on your big day. Now we are left with 2 weeks out and no caterer. I think he thought there would be no way we would cancel this late but we did not want to pay him one cent!

They were a dream to work with and I have had multiple people say how good the food was at our wedding.

Working with Sugar and Spice was the worst decision we made in the wedding process and was the single most frustrating and stressful aspect to the planning process. We often waited weeks before hearing responses to our emails and many times had to follow up with multiple emails and calls before hearing a response. We worked for ovre a month to get a formal contract signed and were treated as though they were doing us a favor as that is not normally something they do. Two weeks prior to the wedding, we waited over 10 days before hearing a response back on several outstanding questions. When we voiced our frustrations, we were met with curt responses and treated as though our event was not important enough and that we were unreasonable to expect a faster response time as they were "very busy." During the setup, we asked the caterer to place the cake topper we had purchased on top of the cake. 25 minutes prior to the ceremony the head caterer stormed up to the groom and said "You're killing me! If this falls off I will NOT be held responsible." The food was fine, the presentation was fine, the cost was low. They handled the contact with the rental company which was helpful. The stress and frustration was not worth it. We would strongly NOT recommend using Sugar and Spice and we have asked our venue to remove them from the preferred caterer list.

We didn't look far beyond Sugar and Spice when booking our caterer. We were sold at our first appointment. Larry was an absolute pleasure to sit and chat with while tasting items from the menu. Unfortunately, we had some trouble arranging things through his daughter along the way which really caused us to question their service. However, Jennifer pulled through for us in the end and everything went exactly as we hoped for at the reception. Many of our guests enjoyed the food selection and service.
