Sugarplum Tent Company

We didn't really have a choice of which tent company to use as our venue (Decatur House) only allowed SugarPlum Tents. However, with that said because they work there so often they knew everything about the space. We rented the Tent, lighting, uplights, dance floor, and stage from them and there wasn't much we had to do besides pick out what options we wanted! They have multiple different types of tents along with a wide range of "add-ons" to make it more "us". The same goes for the dance floor. A few weeks before the wedding we were trying to layout the space and they knew all the venue dimensions and what would fit. They also came a day before our wedding to set up meaning that out band and caterers didn't have to work around them! They were super responsive throughout the whole process and we're glad we used (or were forced to use) them!

Would never utilize this vendor. Charged 900.00 for lights that did not work then blamed the venue and anyone else they could. Refused to compromise and take responsibility. NO details on contract of who to call in emergency and never instructed anyone how to turn the lights inside of tenting on. Tara wasn't there and could not prove that the lights worked. I am a small business owner as well and it wasn't the bride's fault they didn't work. Said they should of been called, yet no emergency listed on contract. Poor customer service, and no partial resolution at all.

Sugarplum Tent Company has beautiful tents, dance floors, and lighting and their staff is wonderful and very low maintenance, the only complaint I have is the cost. We had our wedding at the Decatur House (which was breathtaking), but this is the only company you can work with for the non-optional tent requirement when holding any part of your event in the courtyard. A standard tent, dance floor, and standard lighting was quickly the same cost of the entire venue itself. We DID get a last minute free upgrade, which was amazing, we appreciated Casey so much for that, it really made the event magical. Just know that they are a bit more pricey than other companies from what I have researched. Just know if you book most historic places in DC (Decatur House, Dumbarton Oaks, Lincoln's Cottage) you are required to rent from them and it will cost you over $7,000 for a standard tent, standard lighting, and a dance floor.

I highly recommend Sugarplum Tent Company. Having hired a coordinator for only the final 6 weeks before my wedding, I handled much of the front end planning myself. Given that I had never planned a wedding before—or any large event for that matter—I didn’t really know where to start when it came to renting a dance floor and band stage. I called a few different places, and Tara was the first person who put me at ease. She helped me calculate what dance floor size we’d need, she gave me some questions to ask the venue and band to make sure everything was perfect, and she was always quick to respond. Not to mention, their selection of dance floors is leaps and bounds above the selection of comparable companies. A few weeks down the road, when our head count was a tad lower than expected, she offered her recommendation to downsize the dance floor to better fit our group (rather than push for the more expensive, larger one), and quickly updated our invoice and order to reflect the change. Both Tara and Casey were lovely to work with, and there was no point in which our rentals from them caused any bit of stress.

We used Sugarplum Tent Company for our wedding at the Salamander Resort & Spa. The tent was set up beautifully with strung bistro lights and inconspicuous fans. We worked very closely with Tara who was extremely helpful and accommodating. The best part about working with Tara is that we didn't have great knowledge of event tent design and she was very good about explaining options and providing suggestions. Working with Sugarplum and Tara was very pleasant and we were very happy with the finished product!
