Laura at the Summit was positively wonderful! She stayed in touch throughout the planning process. She took the time to really understand our needs and our tastes and her team delivered! Everything from the food, linens, alcohol, etc. were included in the rental which was great because it was less for us to coordinate! We even had to change our location last minute due to a flash thunderstorm and they sprang into action! I would recommend this venue to all couples!
I went and picked very carefully who I wanted to work with for our wedding, and I choose WRONG with Summit, they let us down big time!!!
First I was working with a women who I really liked, then she stopped returning my phone calls-- three weeks went by before I got someone else who it took a week for her to tell me that the other women was gone. I got worried then, and should have went with my gut! But I decided it was just wedding worries, and I would go with the flow, and trust that they knew what they where doing.
They dropped the ball on many things-- we where promised that there general manager would be there to over see the event, but No I suppose our party wasn't big enough for him to show (180 people). So they left us with someone new, and you could tell
They missed details like open the doors to the reception after the cermony (that they charged me 500 to just set up chairs in a hallway, I figured it would include someone opening the doors so my guest didnt just walk out the front door and look around to see where to go)
At the reception 1/2 the room got treated really good and had good food and service, the other 1/2 (Including head table and parents table) did not. My husband (the groom) got a really cold plate with a crazy over cooked stake (he took a bite and spit it in a napkin). There was a CRAZY wait time inbetween the salad and meal which made it so we could only get 3/4 the way around the room with table visits. Then it took them FOREVER to bring out the cake (which was sheet cake in the back room!!)
There was a bartender who was rude to a guest (in the begining of the night! She wasn't drunk or crazy) and my husband (again the GROOM) went up and said I don't appreate you talking to my guest like this, and not realzing he was the groom was inapprate with his responce, then when he found out he was talking to the groom started back tracking
The hall did give us $500 back basicly admitting they messed up... but really $500? That just paid for the wedding coordnatior I felt the need to hire, because I lost trust.
So to wrap it up- they are not orginazed, 1/2 our party got bad cold food, quite a few of the serving staff had bad attuides with the guests (we got a few calls on that, really embarrassing), miss out on the details, and the management doesn't follow through.
Picking your venue is a huge portion of your budget, make a wise choice. Our wedding was still amazing, but thats due to our DJ (Music Box Productions), and our guests.
Patty is no longer at the Summit. She "left" a week before my wedding. I can't say I was that unhappy though because I was upset about a few things. First our "free" adders, like the chocolate fountain, did not turn out to be free at all. A 20% service charge was added as well as tax. The fees and taxes were based off the original price of $7.00 a head. Had I known that my free upgrades were not really free I would have declined them. I was not told I would be charged any fees for the free upgrades. Patty was nice but also a little flaky. She forgot alot of the stuff she promised me. She also had to leave during the meeting where we were supposed to plan the menu and design the layout! So I struggled through it on my own. However on the day of the wedding, the food was good and the service was very good. I received many compliments on the Summit and the quality of the food. John was very nice and the meny was exactly as I had ordered it.
Our wedding at Summit on the Park was AMAZING! Patty did such an incredible job of communicating with us leading up to the wedding and keeping us calm with all of the details and decisions. We originally planned the ceremony at the gazebo, but weather did not permit. The staff were wonderful in changing the location of the ceremony the day before. Everything ran so smoothly for the ceremony and reception. Guests even commented on how all of the events were well paced and went off without a hitch. You cannot find a better combination of location, food, and people to work with than Summit!
I have never been married. I had no idea what the process was and I felt like everything was left until the last min.
I have heard some many compliments on the location, food, and service from The Summit. Patty, who is in charge of event services, made my day so special. She was straight forward, honest, and very detail oriented. I loved the indoor and outdoor areas and it couldn't have went smoother. Don't pass up this amazing venue location.
We booked our reception 1 1/2 years prior to our ceremony and they locked us in at a good price per person with a great bar package. Our only complaint was that management changed hands 4 times between the time we booked and our wedding. They were hard to reach by telephone, and never responded to emails.
They did however come through the night of the wedding. They made sure to provide us with whatever we wanted and let us customize the space completely. I think the new management team is providing quality service now. I would recommend them in the future, just keep in mind that their response time to phone calls is pretty slow.
After searching various venues, we kept coming back to the Summit on the Park in Canton. What sold us on the venue was the location, FOOD!, single-event per evening, and wedding package offered to us at the time of booking. We did have to work with various sales consultants throughout our wedding planning process, which in the end worked out for us. I cannot say enough about Continental Catering. The food is definitely as good as they advertise. My family is still speaking about the taste, flavors, variety and choice they had during the evening. John, Operations Manager for Contiental Catering, was outstanding from our first meeting. As the bride, I did not have a lot of communication with him prior to the event, but he embraced my parents as they entered the hall the day of our wedding and had complete control of the event. John was extremely personable and amazing with his staff. If something did not run as planned, he thought on his feet, communicated the change well and checked back in with us to make sure the evening was running the way we pictured. If guests had a last minute food request, John and his staff met the request within minutes. My husband, my family and I were extremely pleased with our choice of the Summit on the Park/Continental Catering.
I chose to have my reception at this location. The place is beautiful and the food is incredible! I received so many compliments on the food by all of my guests. The coordinators they have work with you are great at what they do! You have a few meetings and discuss things and you can just show up at the reception without a worry! Everything ran smoothly, and I could not have asked for a better reception.
Patty (Event Planner) is AWESOME! Goes in detail what we would expect, is helpful with suggestions, makes sure the event doesn't get taken away from the couple if the parents are in on the meeting, always follows up, very professional, and gives you her undivided attention. Her attention for detail is amazing.
