If you are thinking about having a wedding at Upstairs at Midtown, this is your sign to do it!! We had our intimate wedding there and it was incredible! Their hospitality and attention to detail is the best. Sophie, the wedding coordinator made planning our wedding stress-free and fun! I will forever be dreaming about the food!
If you are planning a small intimate wedding ceremony & reception in downtown Charleston, Upstairs at Midtown is just your place. While planning our impromptu destination wedding- time allowed for only ONE visit, and one visit was all it took to know it was our spot! From the exceptional customer service and continuous communication with Sofie and her team- it was as if I was there everyday at the venue helping them prepare for our special day. Having to forgo the opportunity of a food tasting, we were a little apprehensive but let me tell you! It was amazing! Our guests ranted and raved about the food all night and for weeks to come. From the hand passed apps, displayed tables, and un-traditional tapas style affair, Upstairs at Midtown gave our guests so much to talk about. Our guests as well as ourselves, were touched at how attentive the staff was. Drinks were always full, and bellies were always fed. They really brought the “family” essence to the evening, and it was truly magical. The newly updated bridal suite on the 3rd floor was not there when we toured the venue and to see it there, day of was awesome! A nice place to slip away and get a moment to breathe, before during and after your night of celebration is simply another detail not missed. We would truly relive the night over again if we could. I cannot even describe how amazing the staff at King Street Hospitality group/Upstairs at Midtown is. When I tell you that they exceeded EVERY expectation of my wedding...the staff is so incredibly prepared, the food/drinks are AMAZING, and the transitions from ceremony to dinner to reception were absolutely flawless. Everyone always says that you should be prepared for something to go wrong on your wedding day but when reflecting on our wedding here, everything was absolute perfection. I cannot describe how happy and thankful we were to choose Upstairs at Midtown, I would do it a million times over!!!
We choose Upstairs at Midtown as the venue for our wedding in April of 2022. We recommend this venue wholeheartedly. I truly do not think there are words to be able to accurately describe how wonderful every single part of having our wedding at Upstairs at Midtown was. We do not live in Charleston, and knew from the moment we received the first email back from the KSHG Team after inquiring that we had to book Upstairs - and it was the best decision we could have made. Many venues sent back brief emails or a quick PDF. Not KSHG. They sent back a detailed email with links to rental guides, vendor recommendations, catering menu, etc. All of the questions I had asked and ones I hadn't even thought of yet were answered. We ended up booking the venue after just doing a Zoom tour - my husband didn't even see our venue in person until our rehearsal the day before! I was a little nervous about planning a wedding at a venue 5 hours away from home, but the KSHG Team really made it such a seamless process. They provide you with detailed lists of vendor recommendations, photos of every menu item (which is so helpful if you're like us and unable to make another trip for a tasting), dimensions of every table and space in the venue and recommendations for décor and elements of the big day without pushing you to spend a zillion dollars.
The level of detail was unbeatable, our friends and family still talk about the food and service from the staff and the venue itself has everything you could want in a Charleston venue. It's charming, perfect for an intimate wedding, our dogs were allowed for the ceremony and the exposed brick and fireplaces - everything about it is gorgeous. The venue is in the heart of King Street, so it's convenient to a ton of hotels and Airbnb/rentals + nearby Hampton Park was perfect for our first look photos.
My advice:
- Host your wedding at Upstairs (or Gasden House, their sister venue, if you need more room). Literally just stop looking at venues and book with them.
- Hire the KSHG Planning Team. We worked closely with Sofie and I cannot rave about her enough and I will never shut up about how unbelievably helpful she was leading up to our wedding and the day of. We didn't lift a finger. I never even had to go to the bar for a drink because Sofie & the rest of the team were right there ready to hand myself & my husband a new one as we got close to finishing our last one. Sofie even ran down the street after our reception ended to see which bar could accommodate our group who wanted to go out. AND she brought a second entrée for each of us and leftover desserts for our Airbnb for us to enjoy. 10000/10. Sofie is my favorite person of 2021.
- Get the mini chicken and waffles and eat more than one. Literally one of my only wedding regrets is that I only ate one of the mini chicken and waffles. All of the food was amazing and beyond our expectations, but a month later and I am still dreaming of the chicken and waffles.
I genuinely do not have a single complaint about Upstairs or the KSHG Team except for that our wedding is over and I don't have an excuse to go back!!!
Everything about Upstairs at Midtown is exceptional! The venue is absolutely BEAUTIFUL, the team will amaze you with their professionalism, and the food is DELICIOUS! Our wedding was a month ago and our guests are still raving about it!
From the minute we stepped foot in the venue and saw the exposed brick, ability to host guests inside and outside, and Charleston charm we knew we wanted to have our wedding here. The beauty of the venue really speaks for itself. We only brought in candles, lanterns, and greenery and were SO impressed with the way the space looked. Simple and elegant.
The planning team also goes above and beyond with everything they do from the minute you book with them! We felt their support throughout the planning process and they also took care of everything day of the wedding - from the big tasks like all communication with vendors to the smallest of details like making sure we had a plate of delicious appetizers while signing our marriage license! We loved getting to spend time with them during our tasting and on our wedding day!
We could not have dreamed up a more perfect day and are so thankful that we booked with King Street Hospitality Group at Upstairs at Midtown!!
I booked with KSHG at Upstairs at Midtown for our destination wedding to Charleston. I had a virtual tour of the venue but didn't see it in person until wedding weekend. These ladies did a phenomenal job in helping me plan with their prompt email responses and thorough answers to any question. The venue is GORGEOUS and all my guests adored how nice and welcoming the staff was. The phrase "best wedding food I've ever had" was overheard at several tables during dinner. My favorite options were the mini chicken and waffle and the shrimp and grits! KSHG truly is great at what they do and go above and beyond to making your wedding day special and accommodate everyone. I'm so glad I held my wedding reception here!
We could have not asked for a better experience at Upstairs at Midtown. The staff, service, and food were beyond compare. Sofie and Maddie made everything so easy and stress free. The service was white glove and exceptional. The food was "the best wedding food we have ever had"-guests. They really know how to make you feel special. If we every get married again, we will definitely be having the wedding here :-).
The venue, the team, and our wedding night were everything we wished for and then some. After some last minute, unexpected issues with a prior venue we had just over a month to “re-plan” our wedding and were lucky enough to stumble across Upstairs at Midtown. From our very first phone call with Sofie we knew we were in good hands. The King Street Hospitality Group bent over backwards and went the extra mile in every possible way. They were responsive, diligent, and extremely friendly. They took an interest in our wedding as if it were their own. We planned from 500+ miles away, site unseen, and our wedding night turned out to better than we could have ever imagined. Once we arrived on our wedding day, Kathleen and Maddie took all possible stress off of our shoulders and let us truly live in the moment. The venue was beautiful, the location was perfect, the food was spectacular, the hospitality was one-of a kind…. Nothing but good things to say!
To start off, the Upstairs at Midtown team is the best in town. Not only did they turn our vision for our event into a reality, but they made the process very easy from the start. Talking with Sofie and Kathleen, from the beginning they were able to help us with every step along the way, and made every step super smooth. For the day of Maddie and Kathleen were very helpful in getting everything set up and organized. During the actual event, all the staff were incredibly accommodating and the service was excellent. Many of our guest raved about the food, and how beautiful the event space was. Kathleen, Sofie, Maddie, and their team really gave us a once in a lifetime event that we will always cherish. The entire team at Upstairs at Midtown are top of the line!!! We cannot express how happy we are with our decision to book with them! We were planning from Charlotte to have our wedding in Charleston and the team at Upstairs at Midtown made the entire process such a breeze for us! The venue itself is absolutely breathtaking and so well maintained - it was everything we dreamed of for our small wedding! The ladies who run the site are so professional, organized, fun, and willing to do anything to make sure you have the wedding you have always dreamed of! The Chef and foodservice were phenomenal!!! We were so impressed at our tasting and had such a hard time deciding because everything was incredible! The evening of the wedding, the food was just as amazing and we still have guests complimenting the food weeks later!! The evening of our Rehearsal, the ladies made sure we were comfortable and new exactly where to be and how the evening of our ceremony and reception would go! The day of the wedding they went above and beyond to make sure no detail was missed! They made sure the wedding party had food and drinks the entire evening, guests were taken care of, things stayed on schedule and the night went off without a hitch! The entire evening was magical and it was all thanks to the KSHG team!!! We cannot recommend Upstairs at Midtown and the KSHG team enough!!!!
Upstairs at Midtown exceeded our expectation as a wedding venue. We live out of state and planned a small destination wedding in Charleston. The staff at Upstairs at Midtown were very organized and on top of everything from day one. We didn’t get to see our venue in person before we booked it and the staff kindly took us on a zoom tour of the historic, charming building. My guests raved about the amazing food and service on the night of the event. Kathleen, Maddie and the rest of the staff were on top of everything from making sure our drinks were full and even getting the children at the wedding their meals quickly because they were getting a little hungry waiting for dinner. It made our big day stress free and everything was beyond perfect. If you are looking for an intimate wedding venue look no more, Upstairs at Midtown is your place.
We can’t say enough good things about Upstairs at Midtown! King Street Hospitality Group made the entire wedding planning process such a breeze! To say venue touring from out of state in a global pandemic wasn’t hard enough, Sofie, Maddie and team really did their best to ensure our process was like the rest! We booked a virtual tour to view and meet the team, but their organization of guides, menus, and many files really helped us figure out where to begin! We originally planned to do everything ourselves, from the planning to day of, but as we got closer and closer to the wedding we realized just how much we needed some extra help! Sofie our Day of Coordinator from KSHG stepped in, helped us get on track, and supported us through the end! At our tasting we talked over details of the day, vendor contracts, and had the difficult decision of narrowing down our menu! I think Oz and I can both agree, choosing the food for the wedding may have been the most difficult decision as it was all SO SO good!
Our wedding day 6.10.21 went off without a hitch! Our guests couldn't say enough about how amazing the night was, from how kind and helpful the staff was, to how delicious the food turned out! (bc lets be honest when did you have a great meal at a wedding?!) Overall we just loved every moment of the day and would get married here over and over again! Upstairs at Midtown was an absolute dream come true for our wedding venue! We booked this venue without even seeing it in person which was scary at first but the King Street Hospitality Group made the entire experience amazing from start to finish. Sofie, Kathleen, Maddie and Lindsay were the sweetest and most responsive team I have ever worked with and they exceed all of our expectations. The entire day was PERFECT! The venue itself is so charming and historic which does not need much décor, the space is breathtaking! And the food is DELICIOUS!! Our guest could not stop raving about the food! I recommend the chicken & waffles, fried green tomatoes and bacon wrapped shrimp. Every guest I heard from after the wedding said it was THE BEST they've ever been to, mainly due to the excellent service, amazing food and awesome vendors that made our day that much more special. If you are looking for a venue, book the KSHG team!! They are the best there is!

We had our wedding at Upstairs at Midtown in November and it was a magical, joyous and gorgeous affair. While this was not our original plan, location or state - our wedding turned out to be absolutely wonderful and essentially everything we envisioned for our special day.
The Upstairs at Midtown venue is gorgeous. It's intimate, historical, charming, and is a great blank slate to make it your own or just let the natural historical beauty fill the space with elegance. We loved having the outdoor rooftop and market lights - such a great touch!
The Upstairs and King Street Hospitality team was outstanding. Honestly, I think almost every single person that attended our wedding raved about the food especially - the chicken and waffle appetizer was the star of the evening! I had people trying to bribe the team to give them the recipe, it was that good! The staff was wonderful, the service was wonderful, the setting was wonderful - seriously an all together wonderful team, space and evening!
Our wedding at Upstairs at Midtown was nothing short of a dream. It was perfect. Lindsey made me feel like a princess and no detail was too small or unimportant. I put my heart and soul into this wedding and all of the moving pieces came together flawlessly because of the team KSHG has in place. When my husband and I were taking photos after the ceremony, they brought us up a little tray of apps and drinks and tucked us away for a special moment. It was so nice to have a couple minutes of serenity before heading back into the reception. There are a million other examples of their top notch hospitality and passion for what they do but all I can say is walk don’t run to Upstairs at Midtown if you are looking for an intimate Charleston wedding.
We booked Upstairs at Midtown for a popular date, 10/10/2020, not long after getting engaged. We loved the venue so much and was so impressed by the 5-star reviews, we booked before even seeing the place! Let me tell you, even more stunning in person. It was exactly the vibe we wanted for a smaller wedding. I primarily worked with Sophie throughout the planning process, with Lindsay and Kathleen involved at multiple phases as well. They were all so attentive and responsive, rarely going more than a few hours without an email response. Their online planning site kept all the details in a quick, easy, just-a-click away location that included venue, catering, bar, and even some rentals as well as our timeline of events and other decisions. The food was excellent, even pleasing some of the guests that were picky (including the Groom!!!). We had multiple guests with food allergies/sensitivities, and they made sure they were taken care of as well! Every time I thought of something, it was already taken care of. I had worked in wedding catering for almost 10 years and so appreciated the professionalism, kindness, and attention to detail the WHOLE crew gave. They even championed rain through our vows and transition to an indoor event without me even noticing – until now as I write this actually. Our bellies, and hearts, were very full when we left. Between them and our other vendors, it had quickly become a joke to repeat the whole night on 10/10/2021! You CANNOT beat this venue.
Our experience at Upstairs at Midtown was absolutely wonderful! I had originally planned to host the rehearsal dinner here, but as my son and daughter-in-law had to change their plans due to the pandemic, we moved our time over by one day and had the reception here. Everyone I talked to or emailed was very professional and responded so quickly. Kathleen, Sofie, and Lindsey all had a demeanor that reassured any concerns I had and made planning this event less stressful. I appreciated the planning resources and client folder which helped keep me on track! Our guests loved the excellent food and service. I would highly recommend Upstairs at Midtown.
My husband and I chose Upstairs at Midtown for our August 15th, 2020 wedding day, and we truly could not have chosen a more perfect setting and team to help bring our dreams to reality. We actually had to completely change our wedding plans due to Covid, and booked Upstairs at Midtown roughly a month out from our day, and both Kathleen and Sofie made the entire process as stress-free as possible, guiding us through every step, sending out friendly reminders as we got closer to our day, and ensuring we were fully taken care of on our wedding day. The entire team went above and beyond to take care of not only myself and my husband, but also all of our guests. I hadn't even reached the door when one of their kind servers made sure to get my drink of choice, and they ensured we had a drink in our hands all evening without ever having to ask. Sofie was extremely on top of things, and helped coordinate every step of the evening for us - she is incredibly sweet and kind, and helped to keep me calm when I was stressed! The food was INCREDIBLE and my guests are still raving about it! The venue itself is absolutely stunning and truly doesn't need much of anything to be beautiful, and was the perfect backdrop for our intimate 30 person event. Weeks later, my husband and I still can't stop talking about how amazing our day was, and so much of that is thanks to the King Street Hospitality team. I truly cannot recommend them enough, and will forever be thankful for the huge role they played in making our wedding the ultimate best day ever!
We contacted Upstairs at Midtown three weeks before our scheduled July wedding after we were forced to cancel our originally scheduled reception venue. From the first interaction, we felt supported by the team and they never pressured us to make a final decision understanding COVID regulations were always updating in Charleston. We did not have a wedding planner, and Kathleen immediately stepped in to create a new timeline of events, set up, and food selections. She was a joy to work with and always organized. On the day of the event, everything looked beautiful and the service was impeccable. Honestly it turned out better than we probably would have expected at our original venue! Kathleen made all the guests feel special and was so attentive. Everyone also commented on how amazing the food tasted which is not common when I think about all the weddings I’ve been to! We are eternally grateful to Upstairs at Midtown for their support and helping us execute a perfect wedding reception during such an uncertain time!
The King Street Hospitality Group was a dream to work with. They lay everything out in an easy to read format and really help you plan the perfect event. The staff on wedding day was well informed on everything we wanted and everything turned out exactly as we envisioned! I think our favorite part of the evening was the FOOD though. I’m going to be honest and say that wedding food is never great, but oh my goodness this food is delicious. Our guests still rave about the meal and dessert. Highly recommend having an event here!
Kathleen is a goddess. I was scheduled to have the wedding I’d always dreamt of at Upstairs at Midtown on 3.21 & had been working with Kathleen & her team for nearly a year planning every little detail & for every contingency (except a global pandemic 🙃). Kathleen was so buttoned-up throughout the entire process. Not a single email went unanswered & her responses were always thorough. During the week leading up to our big day, guests’ flights were being canceled left & right & older guests were understandably changing their RSVPs. Kathleen was kind, reassuring, & never let this situation phase her. Even though a ton of things fell apart that week, I was so fortunate not to be one of those brides dealing with a nasty venue on top of the heartbreak that COVID19 was causing! We postponed our reception & I can’t wait to celebrate our marriage at this beautiful venue. I just couldn’t wait til then to give her the praise she deserves for making my life so much less stressful than it could’ve been. As soon as life goes back to normal, vendors like Upstairs at Midtown should stand head & shoulders above the rest for being willing to work with their brides in such tough circumstances. ❤️
My husband and I traveled from New Hampshire to Charleston for our wedding on March 7, 2020, never having been to the city before and we couldn’t have picked a better venue! Every single person that we spoke with answered all of our questions promptly and never left any details out! The venue itself was so beautiful that we could have not decorated it at all and it still would have been perfect. Everyone keeps talking about how amazing the food was, and we definitely agree! They had a very large menu to choose from, and believe us, it was hard to narrow down because everything sounded so good!
Being right on King street left us with plenty of great choices to walk to for photos and still get back in a timely manner without feeling rushed. We just keep talking about how much fun our wedding night was and that we wish we could go back and do it all over again. Upstairs at Midtown was the first venue we looked at and instantly knew it was the one. Kathleen was amazing in helping us secure the venue and was so so helpful with all of our questions and concerns throughout the whole process! Sophie was AMAZING as well through email and the day of the wedding... every thought we had, she was there with help, a step ahead! The food was amazing and our guests loved everything that was served. All of the staff made our wedding perfect and we couldn’t be more happy that we chose Upstairs at Midtown!
We hosted a "Welcome to our Wedding Weekend" event for our son and his bride-to-be on 12-13-19. We live in Virginia, and you would think that planning a long distance event would be a stressful experience-you'd be wrong if you had the good fortune to work with Kathleen, Sofie and Lindsey. From start to finish we had confidence that King Street Hospitality Group would treat us like family. They listened, recommended top shelf vendors (Tiger Lily Weddings, J.Lily Designs), and their cuisine and service were second to none. Upstairs at Midtown is a fabulous venue. We highly recommend it. Our guests were very impressed.

My husband and I wanted a venue that had a Charleston feel and as soon as we saw Upstairs at Midtown we knew it was the one. We had 3 months to plan our wedding and Kathleen and the rest of the KSHG made it so easy. From picking the menu, to figuring out bar service, even helping us decide which bike taxi group to use, they could not have been more helpful. For the day of the wedding we hired them to take care of onsite coordination and I can honestly say it was the best money we spent. Sophie and Kathryn took care of EVERYTHING. Not only did they coordinate with all of the vendors and set everything up, but they also made sure that the wedding party had food and drinks at all times. We received so many compliments on how amazing the food was and how much fun everyone had. Thank you so much to KSHG team, you made my wedding day an absolute dream come true!!!!!
My Husband and I got married here in July. KSHG did an amazing job at accommodating us and our guests. We had a last minute cancellation with our wedding coordinator and Upstairs at Midtown stepped in and saved the day! I couldn’t have asked for a better place to have our wedding. The food was amazing and our guests raved about the tacos. The staff made sure we were never without a drink and even brought our food to us. We were even allowed to have our dog there which was very special to us! I would recommend this venue or any venue they manage over and over!! Thank you for making our day so special!
My wife and I had hosted our sunset wedding and reception here. From the very first contact until the day, the level of attention and assistance they gave us was amazing. Every detail was attended to. No stones unturned. During the reception our hands was never empty, always a drink or food ready. The food! My guests are still talking about how wonderful everything tasted! If you’re looking for great views and even better service, pick them!! You won’t go wrong.
Upstairs at midtown did not disappoint for my October 6, 2019 wedding ceremony and reception. My vision was to have a intimate venue with a rooftop ceremony. Kathleen was helpful from the start in guiding me through the menu and linen selection. One thing that sold me on this venue was everything that was included tables chairs and the bar. It was absolutely beautiful my guest have not stopped talking about our downtown wedding.
This venue is beautiful!!! We just got married here 2 weeks ago and the staff was super attentive and wonderful about everything. There were no hiccups at all!
The caterer they use is King Street Catering and the food is chef quality, delicious!

Upstairs at Midtown was the perfect location & venue for our small intimate destination wedding. The venue was incredible with it's natural characteristics and the outdoor rooftop space it allowed us to have the perfect Charleston wedding ceremony & reception. From the planning process with Kathleen to the food and staff at our wedding everything was absolutely phenomenal. Everyone was so attentive and we truly could not have asked for a better wedding venue! Kathleen made planning my wedding from a distance easy & stress free! I couldn’t have possibly dreamt of a more perfect wedding day thanks to KSHG and their amazingly talented team! From the moment I first spoke with Kathleen I could tell I was speaking with a genuine professional. Working in the industry, myself, my husband and family have a tough time sitting back and being guests as it’s difficult finding others who know how to handle things efficiently. Our wedding was six weeks ago and I’m STILL getting comments on their impeccable service, attentiveness, professionalism and the FOOD! You really can’t go wrong with any of their dishes, but those chicken and waffles will change your life.
I had some off the wall ideas for my wedding day and without a second thought Kathleen and Lindsey flawlessly executed our offsite ceremony at Magnolia Plantation, all within less than three months of planning! Our wedding day had a 100% chance of rain forecast and a flooded ceremony site, but we still got married under the trees at sunset. I swear they moved the clouds themselves. Lindsey carried my train around as we hopped locations for pictures, tolerated my delaying our timeline and truly made me feel like a princess all day long. From pictures to our sparkler exit, she constantly kept my drink full (and my moms!) and made sure Scott and I received appetizers and made us dinner plates (and thankfully sat us down to eat!). My husband and I sought out a wedding venue with character, elegance, and also a hip, modern twist for a small, intimate wedding. Upstairs at Midtown was everything we envisioned! The beautiful, exposed brick patio deck and rooms were stunning, even without decorations. The patio was beautifully lit with lights - even though we had to tent the deck due to the weather, the patio did not lose any of its beauty. The venue managers (Kathleen Shuler and Sophie) and staff were also outstanding; they answered every question we had, were incredibly thorough with planning, and always willing to make time to meet with us or discuss the wedding. The food tasting was one of the best parts! All our guests loved the food as well, they did not disappoint! From the ceremony, the cocktail hour and to the main reception, our wedding was enjoyed without a single snag. We are so happy we choose Upstairs. If downtown Charleston is your wedding destination, this is the ultimate place for your wedding!
Kathleen Shuler and her team took our daughter’s dream and made it a reality. The day was absolute perfection! The venue was beautiful and the food extraordinary! How many people can actually say that their wedding was stress-free? Our dayghter’s wedding was stress-free thanks to Kathleen. She took care of details that we would NEVER have thought of. I cannot say enough about our experience with Upstairs at Midtown. Again, absolute perfection!
Kathleen and her crew are TOP NOTCH. I truly believe they could all work at the finest establishments anywhere in the world. Kathleen was such a joy to work with, a very sweet person. I was a rather needy client, living in FL, so I emailed her A LOT. She never made me feel like I was asking too many questions. She was so timely with her emails. Sometimes she even emailed me after work hours, I don’t know how she does it. They were extremely flexible day of when I wanted to re-arrange a few things, I just texted Kathleen the updates.
Also, we owe a HUGE shout out to Ali, the most wonderful venue manager for our big day. Ali made me feel like a queen, she checked on me so much, but always at the perfect times. She is so intuitive, kind, and sweet, I loved her!!!! Even helped bustle my dress. I know for sure she did more to help everything run smoothly than what is in her job description. She gathered my things and had everything ready for me when we were about to leave. Ali needs a raise.
Then, let me tell you about the food. My husband and I eat vegan, and we really did not have any expectations for the vegan food here, but OMG, it was the best vegan dishes we have ever had. I got some kind of stir-fry and the tofu was out of this world. I only wish I could ask the chef for the recipe. I could eat that meal every day. Also, my husband loved his vegan pasta. They made to go boxes for us- and trust me, they didn’t just pack up what was left on our plates, they packed a box full of food which we enjoyed later that night at our hotel. Everyone else loved his or her meal of chicken or steak.
Finally, the service was impeccable; every single person there is the best in the business. I have never had service like that in my life. Everyone at our wedding mentioned how awesome the service was. They were also intuitive, because we had a 4-year-old guest at our wedding. At one point, the main bathroom was occupied and the 4 year old visibly had to go, and was waiting with his mom to go in next, and a waiter pulled them aside and said, “come with me I can show you another bathroom to use”.
It was above and beyond anything I had hoped for. THANK YOU everyone at Upstairs at Midtown for your wonderful service. You made our wedding perfect. Book your wedding here- it is the BEST choice you can make!!!!!!!!!
Thank you so much for an amazing rehearsal dinner! After spending some time working in the Charleston wedding industry, I knew our rehearsal dinner was in great hands with the KSH Group. The entire planning process was a breeze. Kathleen and the KSH Group are absolutely spectacular. Ryan and I are so thrilled we were able to have our rehearsal dinner at Upstairs at Midtown. The way everyone jumped in to help us organize our decor and gifts was absolutely wonderful! We couldn’t have done it without you. It was so great getting to work with such an awesome team.
All of our guests are still raving about the food. All of the hors d’oeuvres were delicious and our guests are still talking about the steak from the surf and turf entrée! Everyone was amazed they were able to cut it with a butter knife. Ryan grew up on a beef farm in Colorado, and he said the flavor and tenderness of the steak reminded him of his childhood :) Y'all knocked it out of the park!
The rehearsal dinner was the perfect start to our wedding weekend. We all had the greatest time together. Thank you so much for the perfect evening!
I can't thank Kathleen, Sofie, and their staff enough for hosting our Friday & Saturday night parties! We had 95 people (out of our 100) guests coming from out of town and everyone absolutely loved both venues!! The food...I know everyone here is probably sick of shrimp & grits and mac & cheese at weddings but our guests were raving about all of the dishes. Kathleen and Sofie were so easy to work with, always responsive - answering all of my questions up to the last minute. They truly put me at ease when it came down to the wire, I knew I could trust their team come the day of the wedding. I'm so glad we chose Upstairs at Midtown for our venue - it truly was everything we had hoped for and envisioned!

Kathleen, is a rockstar. 100% one of the easiest vendors I worked with. We did Upstairs at Midtown for our rehearsal dinner because we were getting married on the beach and wanted our guests to have the Charleston, downtown vibe too. We had about 85 people for our rehearsal dinner and it worked out perfect. You honestly do not need decorations for this venue because it just has that old southern charm. The outside portion is a huge plus. Kathleen also does all the work for food too, so no need to worry about that. Sophie (or Sophia) was with us the night of and she was so accommodating! We needed a phone charger, check and we also needed help on a birthday cupcake for one of my bridesmaids, check! Also food is amazing!!
Oh my gosh where to even start. Upstairs at Midtown was phenomenal and made my wedding day the best day of my life. The venue is so beautiful on its own (we needed minimal decorations) and is perfect if you're thinking of having a wedding of less than 100. We did both the ceremony and dance floor outside and Sofie and her crew flipped the space so quickly. We used their in-house caterer and multiple people have told me it was the best wedding food they've ever had. The chicken and waffles appetizer couldn't even make it across a room before it was gone.
Kathleen and Sofie were so great to work with and answered all of my incessant emails and questions. They made sure i knew exactly what would be happening and executed my vision flawlessly. I never waited longer than 24 hours for an email response. The day of, Sofie took care of us like we were a king and queen and made sure every single detail was perfect.
If you are having a small wedding, definitely pick Upstairs at Midtown. The location is perfect, the interior is perfect, the coordinators are perfect. Seriously, you will not regret it!!

This venue was perfect for my small wedding/reception. It's so beautiful, you don't even need that many decorations. Everyone was so helpful and did everything to make sure my day was as stress free and easy as possible. I can't say enough nice things, besides the food was AMAZING (and they made sure I had a plate already ready for me when I got back from pictures) I couldn't have imagined a better wedding!
Loved my reception here. It is perfect for small weddings and feels very intimate. It has a great location right downtown and has a very Charleston feel. Kathleen and Blythe are a pleasure to work with. The food was absolutely incredible!!! Everyone was talking about how incredible it was.
I decided I wanted a small wedding and I found this venue online through a random google search for "unique wedding venues". My husband and I live in Ohio so this was a destination wedding for us. I had never been to Charleston and had never seen the venue until 3 days before the wedding. Everything was PERFECT! Blythe was more than a joy to work with and made my day run so smoothly. She was so helpful and has really good taste so I relied on her opinion a lot. The ceremony was outside and it was gorgeous. Cocktail hour and dinner was inside in the two rooms that were decorated tastefully. You don't need a lot of decorations to make the venue look good, it already has so much character! I didn't hire a DJ, just made multiple playlists because they have an ipod hook up with surround sound, which was great because we were able to save money that way. Compared to most of the venues in the area, Upstairs at Midtown is extremely affordable and you get A LOT for your money. The food was delicious and I loved the wine/beer choices. we had about 50 people total and we were all able to fit in the space very easily. Blythe is the best! She is easy to work with and makes everything so easy. The venue is amazing, especially the outdoor area. In addition to being a great place the food is wonderful!
