As the bride and groom, we received a complimentary suite the night of the wedding, which was gorgeous! They even decorated it for us which was a nice surprise as newlyweds! I highly recommend getting married at Surf & Sand to any future bride and groom! The views are worth everything and the whole experience was absolutely amazing! We also enjoyed spending time at the pool, beach, and Splashes (restaurant on site) the whole weekend with friends and family!

perience in planning my wedding was overall positive and I had no complaints. Originally, our plan was a destination wedding in Maui so we were looking for alternatives. I happened to come across this place on a cell phone application called Wedding Spot. The app given us information of the venue as well as an estimate pricing, which was pretty close to what our actual cost was. I also looked up the reviews of this resort in multiple websites and from what I had seen was relatively positive. So we decided to check it out and made an appointment with them. They were responsive right away when we made a request. Ultimately, we decided to choose this place, mostly because of the beautiful view since it instantly reminded us of Hawaii. Also, with the price they gave us for 130 guests is the same as the price for Maui for 50 guests (excluding travel fee and accommodations). Not only that, they had a plan B in case the weather was bad. Erin Hopper was originally our coordinator however during the process, she left Surf and Sand. Alana Zee became our Coordinator, and she was perfect. She made our day perfect from beginning to end and helped created our dream wedding. She was very responsive when we asked questions and very organized. She was very receptive to what we want and would make it happen. She was very helpful and went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and stress free. So I highly recommend her. Our ceremony was held in the Catalina Terrace and our reception was held in the Pelican room. During the ceremony, though the weather was a little overcast with some chance of rain, the ceremony went perfectly without a hitch. The Catalina Terrace was transformed into the wedding I wanted and it was beautiful, especially the ocean as our backdrop. The Pelican Room was very roomy and everyone could see what was going on during the reception. The room transformed beautifully and I felt like I was in the Hawaii luau (my theme was Hawaii-theme with a touch of Disney magic). We chose the Luau Buffet Package with four appetizers during cocktail hour and it was delicious, flavorful, and beyond our expectations. My guests were raving over the food and cannot get enough. I could still taste the food. Hotel rooms were a bit pricy, especially it was held on Labor Day weekend, but it was worth. They will give you discounted price and reserve the rooms in the Catalina Terrace. I do recommend booking those rooms if your wedding is held at the Catalina Terrace (you don't want to have some random stranger looking at your wedding). You do get a complimentary room for the night as the groom and bride so that's a plus. Booking the rooms for our guests was not hard at all. We had not complaints. All in all, I would highly recommend Surf and Sand for your wedding. Expect it to be pricy but well worth your money. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Food is excellent. Accommodations were comfortable and clean with the ocean view right below your balcony. I definitely found my perfect wedding here. :)

e. The receptionist could not get ahold of the wedding coordinator. The manager was contacted and after multiple attempts, they still could not get ahold of her. We waited for 25min. We still have not gotten a call or email explaining what happened. This is unprofessional and disrespectful. What was supposed to be an exciting day turned out to be a huge disappointment. If this is how they handle an initial appointment, I would not trust them with my wedding.

Next thing I did was get in touch with Surf and Sand and we were BLESSED to have ERIN HOOPER! She was extremely friendly from the beginning and within the first couple minutes of speaking with her, we knew right away that Erin was very experienced and that we were in good hands. Throughout the entire process, Erin always quickly followed up with us, answering all of the many questions we had, and worked with our vision for the wedding. She understood it right away and that was something we appreciated when trying to plan a wedding. Not to mention she was always very calm and collected, never once showed any stress signals! When you have Erin, you don't need to look any further for a wedding planner or any additional help. She has EVERYTHING under control! :) Our wedding at Surf and Sand was the best day of our lives. The weather was amazing, BREATHTAKING view at the Catalina Terrace, and everyone raved about the food. I've been to my fair share of weddings and at least for me, I really don't remember the food as being to die for. But at this place, it is. And the customer service from every employee at Surf and Sand is off the charts. Everyone was extremely helpful and personable. We want to thank Erin and everyone at Surf and Sand for contributing to our amazing experience. Our wedding went off without a hitch. We will definitely visit often and cherish this place forever.

o detail and calm disposition make a rare but ideal combination in her role. Kudos to her. for her part in making the day magical for us. We used S&S recommended vendors for strings (during the service) and the DJ. We provided our own florist (who later turned out to be on their list) and our own officiant and baker. I'd recommend using their list where possible--everyone understood "the drill" and worked well with the venue & Erin. As a business executive I prefer no surprises in execution and that's exactly what we got. We choose the S&S as we had smaller wedding (60) planned and we wanted the best local venue without getting stratospheric in cost. We did consider the usual high-end suspects (Montage, the Ritz-Carlton) but found they lacked the intimacy of the S&S. In all, we found during the selection process the S&S was at an attractive point between the Laguna Beach "value" choices and more extravagant options. We couldn't find anything else quite like it, and judging by the large number of weddings they do, so do a lot of other people. Chatting with my MD last week--yup, he was married there as well. Great positive reinforcement for sure. Also keep in mind for a smaller wedding that the Ocean Terrace/Sandcastle combo can be exactly as you want it to be. We did a little walk-through a few days in advance and did have some fleeting concerns about the terrace and the patio outside the Sandcastle. BUT once everything is in place--floral, strings, chairs, runners, guests, spectacular sunset...and um.. astonishingly beautiful bride, we knew we had made the right choice. A few other notes--the Sand Castle patio is entirely different at night with the lighting and bar in place. Speaking of lighting, you'll definitely want some good uplighting for the Sand Castle room to get it into celebration mode. Also, I'll not repeat what others have said about the staff, but yes everyone was great throughout. Lastly, we elected not to use an outside wedding coordinator and that was the right choice for us. Between my bride's efforts and Erin's, there was no need. In fact, on the crucial day itself, an external wedding coordinator would have just gotten in the way. Best wishes to you for your wedding.

Absolutely no regrets about getting married here. My husband and I can't wait to return to this amazing resort for anniversaries.

s. Our photographer was able to use the beach and all of the elegance for amazing photographs. The food and service were 5 star. The filet just melted in your mouth and the salmon was superb! The service provided by the catering sales manager Erin Hooper were above and beyond. SHe accommodated every request without a problem, and made sure that entire event went off perfectly.! She even wiped sand off my brides feet, and helped her bustle up her gown when she was having problems. Erin was like a part of the family! She made our wedding and reception a perfect event, that we will cherish for the rest of our lives! Surf and Sand was pure perfection for our venue.

The whole staff is extremely welcoming, and attentive. Secondly, the venue is spectacular. All of your guests will be amazed about how beautiful this venue is. Thirdly, the FOOD. Your guests will be amazed about how delicious the food is. All my guests have said the food was the best food they've ever had at wedding, ever. Not a single bit of me is disappointed in choosing this location. This is The BEST Wedding Venue around.

t I can’t imagine it going better or having more fun. The view? Gorgeous. The staff? On point. The reception? Beautiful, intimate, a great space for a celebration. We worked with Erin Hooper, who was so good, it surprised us. She had everything taken care of – the things that we thought would be a big deal were all smoothed out by her and her crew. The planning was efficient but detailed, and on the big day, it was completely seamless. She worked with our vendors to coordinate setup & pickup, completely transparent for us – no drama while we were focused on our celebration. It was the small things that they did that on gameday that indicate how outstanding these guys were. They rolled out our white aisle runner last so it wouldn’t get dirty, gave us this amazing bridal suite overlooking the ocean, and they even packed up our leftover cupcakes and saved them for brunch – completely unexpected. Those cupcakes were good, too – it would have been a shame if they went to waste. None of these things make a great venue, but they are tangible examples of one that really is. When my (now) wife saw this place, she made up her mind instantly, the view on the Catalina terrace sold her. We know now that the entire experience was that good. The ceremony, dinner, reception, brunch, and the staff were all what we dreamed of, and we have such great memories!

Erin Hooper was incredible to work with, she is attentive and will go above and beyond to meet your needs. I felt like everything was completely taken care of the day of and I was stress free! The pelican ballroom is where we had the reception, we fit 170 people in there! The room looked gorgeous! Erin hooper was very responsive via email all the time answering my last minute bride questions. The whole service staff at the S&S are incredible at what they do. WE had the bellman run to get us Jack in the Box at 3:30 in the morning (we were starving) and he brought us wine and chocolate on top of that! Everyone is so accommodating and I can't say enough wonderful words about the service from everyone at the resort. The rooms are gorgeous, a little pricey...but hey, it's Laguna Beach and its worth it! The quality of the resort is top notch. I will always look back on my wedding day as absolute perfection, thanks to the staff and the gorgeous Surf and Sand. Thank you for everything!

Erin also was very professional throughout the whole process and all smiles on the day of our wedding. She is a get it done chick!! The food was delicious and we were able to customize our menu! Not all wedding venues allow this. The appetizers were amazing and the feedback from our guests were all raving about the food. If you want the WOW factor about your wedding come check out this venue because all around from hotel staff, catering team and amenities I give it 5 stars all around. wedding planning with one coordinator for the first few months of our planning, but switched to Erin for our last few months when the other coordinator left. The move was seamless and Erin picked up right where Lauren left off. We had more than half of our guests tell us personally that this was the best food they had ever had at a wedding before--some said best food they have ever had at a restaurant period. The location of the ceremony was gorgeous! We had the most perfect weather and the best sunset we could have asked for. The location of the cocktail hour and reception were perfect! The bartender and servers were so helpful and attentive to both our needs and our guests' needs. Surf & Sand provided two separate getting ready rooms for the girls and guys. It was so nice for the girls to have the room for the whole day to get our makeup done and get dressed in it. Erin took care of the day's arrivals (from chair/lantern rentals to flowers) seamlessly. We loved our room for the night of the wedding so much that we decided to stay an extra night! The grounds of the hotel are gorgeous with lots of places to get beautiful pictures. Our whole day went off without any stress and was the best day of our lives! We also had the day-after breakfast on the Ocean Terrace, which was a perfect time to get more time with our families that had traveled so far for our wedding. I wish my husband and I could get married again, and we would choose Surf & Sand every single time!

g planning process! We worked with Lauren Bergmann, who was very responsive and very helpful, on top of being adorable and having a wonderful personality. She was very accommodating of our vision, and helped me walk through my to-do list and necessary order of vendor bookings and any/all misc questions I had. I did not have to worry about ANYTHING on the day of the wedding, which was a relief. Prior to the wedding, Lauren had reached out to all of my vendors and organized the timing of everyone, stepping up as the contact person. We had a slight weather concern the day of the wedding, but I wasn't even phased by it because I knew Lauren would do whatever needed to be done to take care of it. At the end of the evening, our gifts were brought to our room, and we were able to celebrate with a bottle of champagne! Grabbing our wedding items in the morning was a breeze as well-- the catering captain had cleaned and packaged everything up for us (the cake topper, guest book, frames, champagne flutes). In the morning we had a great conversation with Trevor, our bellhop. We were heading to Costa Rica for our honeymoon and he took the time to give us some tips and pointers for our trip. It's the above and beyond service of this resort that I appreciate, and a reason I will continue to give them my business in the spa, restaurant, bar, pool... etc :-) If you want a beautiful, boutique-y feel with a lot of hands-on attention and gorgeous views, I absolutely recommend the Surf and Sand

Our family checked in on Friday and stayed until Sunday, they all went above and beyond for us. When Saturday the day of the wedding came, all I had to do is sit and get pampered and wait for the wedding to begin, Lauren took care of everything for me. As the mother of the bride I didn't want to think of anything by then. I would highly recommend the Surf and Sand for Wedding, or any event you need to have. I live very close but can not wait to stay again to enjoy how wonderful the Hotel is and remember all the wonderful memories of my daughters beautiful wedding ! , but to me the customer service is what really sealed the deal for us. Our amazing coordinator was Lauren Bergmann. She was just perfect! She was warm, yet professional, & walked us through everything from start to finish. She always got back to us with answers in such a timely fashion. It would have been so easy for us to get lost in a sea of questions & details, but she was always there to keep us on track, even going above & beyond in most cases. She never made us feel like she was too busy for us, though I know she had to be. Lauren saw to every detail, including helping to prepare and set up our wedding favors (we'd forgotten to attach the name tags and seating assignments to them), folding our wedding programs (forgot to do that too - lol), and even having my belongings transferred from the spacious dressing room (provided for my bridesmaids and I to get ready in) to our room while we celebrated. It was so nice to not have to worry about things like that. I think you can start to see just how amazing she is! :D The hotel is so beautiful so there were so many places for us to take a nice variety of wedding photos (on the beach, in the garden area, on the terrace, etc.). Our ceremony was on the Catalina Terrace (breathtaking!!!), where we said our vows with only the ocean and sky as our background in front of approximately 145 guests. Our reception was held in the Pelican Ballroom (fantastic!!), which was preceded by the cocktail hour in the foyer area. The servers and wait staff were splendid. They were fast, efficient, always smiling & completely accommodating! I was beyond pleased with how we were treated. Then there was our complimentary wedding suite, which was UBER romantic and beautifully prepared. We had a heart of rose petals waiting on our bed, his & hers wedding cupcakes (delicious!!), water bottles, and premium chocolates at our bedside. So many of our guests, family, friends, and people in our bridal party could not stop raving about how beautiful the resort was, how nice the staff was, and that it was the best wedding they had ever been to. I give much of the credit to Lauren for helping the event to run smoothly, for seamlessly coordinating with all of our vendors, and for doing everything in her power to make us feel special on our wedding day. The Surf & Sand Resort has our full recommendation and we'd love to return sometime in the future (maybe for an anniversary?) to enjoy another amazing stay.

Surf and Sand was amazing from the bell hop to the service staff to the event coordinators they were all great. The venue is beautiful, I mean you can't get a better view of the ocean. They put us in the most amazing room the night of the wedding and even went above and beyond by decorating our room with rose petals, candles and music with a chilled bottle of champagne waiting for us. I recommend this venue to anyone who wants the perfect beach wedding without the hassle of being in the sand. PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT wedding at the Surf and Sand we are so happy with our choice.

We had our ceremony on the Catalina Terrace and then our reception in the Pelican Ballroom. Almost all of our guests were from out of town and everyone raved about how beautiful and romantic this venue and the views were. It blew everyone away, including us! We also had the deluxe pleasure of staying in one of the most beautiful hotel suites with a breathtaking huge terrace/balcony overlooking the ocean. The food at Surf & Sand is impeccable. I really appreciate how hard Lauren worked to make sure every detail was perfect for us and even had little surprises that showed she really listened to us and knew what was important to us. All of the vendors (photographer, DJ, florist, etc) we worked with also said they love this venue and they're always so easy to work with. When we received our pictures from our photographer, we were blown away because the photo backgrounds (the venue & views) are amazing and make the pictures look even better!! We loved everything about Surf & Sand and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for a wedding venue in Southern California. By the way, Laguna Beach is one of our favorite towns in the whole world and Surf & Sand is located right in the heart of it all. Thank you for everything Surf & Sand and to Lauren! Kat is not only personable, but an absolute professional - completely organized and brilliant at managing events. She truly made the entire planning process fun and digestible. The Surf and Sand makes for an unbelievable backdrop for your most special day... and the food!! THE FOOD! People have been telling me it was the best food they've ever had at a wedding. I look at things the average person dose not look at. So, when I say, If I had to do it all over again would I do it here at the Surf & Sand, the answer is YES! For the price it cost to rent this location and all the extra help that Lauren and Kat and their team gives you, you would be crazy to go anywhere else. I am very particular, and they meet all may expectation and then some. One thing I would like to add, is our pictures turn out absolutely Beautiful. I believe this is due to the fantastic lighting and the great locations you can take advantage of at the Surf & Sand. Thank you for making my wedding the Wedding of my Dreams!

From planning to the day-of, we were so lucky to have S&S coordinator Kat help make our big day truly special - she was incredibly responsive to emails and helped us map out the event logistics. On the day of our wedding, my husband and I didn't have to worry about a thing. The transition from the ceremony, cocktail hour to the reception was smoothly coordinated by the amazing staff. Even the food was incredible and we added the late night slider bar which was a hit with our guests. For us, our wedding a the Surf&Sand was perfect in every way!

It makes a big difference who you work with while planning a wedding, and with Kat by our side it was great. Pictures on the wedding day look amazing at this venue. You have the beach and you have the actual hotel. Overall, Surf and Sand did not disappoint. My husband and I have very happy memories there because they made our special day amazing. After our wedding we actually went back to the Surf and Sand for a weekend staycation. We were able to actually enjoy the hotel, the pool, beach, spa, restaurant. Writing this review makes me miss my wedding day, oh what a day! Thank you Surf and Sand!

Kat lawrence our catering manager made all of our Visions and dreams come true. We and our guests flew from Vancouver Canada and I spent a year coresponding with Kat through emails and phone calls and each communication very positive and she truly seemed eexcited. It's been a few weeks now since the magical day and I am still getting compliments from guests saying it was the most fun and beautiful wedding they have ever attended. I couldn't agree more and I wish it wasn't over. Definately we will be back to visit the surf and sand and forever our memories will be in our hearts. Thanks!

I have had so many people tell me this was the only time they had loved the wedding food. The wedding was beautiful simply because of such an amazing view and venue. beat. Our photos seriously have 6 ft waves in the background! The food was also excellent--something we'd order off the menu at a fine restaurant. The service exceeded our expectations. Just imagine us walking onto the deck for Sunday brunch the morning after our wedding and seeing that the staff had saved our leftover flowers and arranged them on each of our tables! Overall, was so impressed by how well executed everything was, and much of the credit goes to their amazing catering manager, Kat Lawrence. She is so friendly and supportive--just what a bride needs--but at the same time very professional and on the ball. Kat and her team at the Surf and Sand are as good as it gets. If I could do it all over again, I would probably have booked the Surf and Sand immediately and not spent all those days considering other options!

Our Christmas wedding was everything we dreamed of and more. We will definitely be back to visit for a getaway!!!

changed a thing! The venues were both beautiful, the sevice excellent, and the food delicious (served promptly and warm). The Surf and Sand did everything they could do to make this event special and to make us feel welcome. Kat Lawrence was our hotel event planner. She was very helpful throughout the process, always returning our calls and always calm and helpful, even when we were stressed and frenzied. She never made us feel like we were bothering her. I have only the highest praise for Kat and the S&S!
