Sweet Root Village

Seriously, 5 stars are not nearly enough to describe how amazing Sweet Root Village is! Working with Sweet Root was a joy (seriously, Rachel and team are the nicest and happiest people you will ever meet) from beginning to end. They are masters of their craft and we were truly amazed at the product they delivered. They made us feel so special through the planning process and we never once doubted that they would make our wedding day perfect. They were awesome in helping craft our vision while being conscious of our budget and working well with all our other vendors. The photos speak for themselves but we 100% recommend booking Sweet Root for your wedding - or really anything (seriously - we are thinking of how we can work with them again soon because they are so awesome)!!

I had no idea what I wanted at our wedding flower wise except I wanted lots of greens and the women at SRV knew exactly how to bring my utter lack of words to life. Their vision and skill is out of this world, I cried when I saw our venue pulled together and the candles weren’t even lit!! The ceremony space was to die for and they just killed the reception tables. Rachel is so sweet and amazing to work with they made the entire experience a dream and were even going to make a flower leash and collar for our pup if we decided to include her!

We had our wedding this past weekend and used Sweet Root Village as our florist. I'm not much of a flower person, and explained the 'vision' I had for the ceremony and reception - simple greenery with a sort rustic vibe... when I walked into the ceremony area I couldn't believe my eyes. It was the most gorgeous sight ever, they did such a great job and totally ran with the theme I hoped for. Everything was beyond beautiful. I highly recommend using them!!

SRV was my dream floral vendor for our wedding, and I couldn't have been happier with the results. From our initial meeting to the back-and-forth over details, I knew they completely understood what look I was going for, and took every idea I had and made it about 10 billion times better. The decision maker for us was that I wanted a "chuppah-esque" floral piece in our ceremony space, and within about 10 minutes of talking about what feel our wedding would be and what my style was, they came up with something super unique and gorgeous... and less expensive than the initial idea I had! Despite my champagne taste on a sparkling wine budget (not quite beer!) they made me feel completely valued as a client. My mother is a big flower person, and she could not have been happier with the results. My only regret is that I didn't get to give them huge hugs the day of the wedding as they delivered everything! Tip: Follow them on instagram and check their stories leading up to your event! I loved getting sneak peeks of my flowers and set up! Highly recommend.

SRV was our top favorite vendor to work with throughout our wedding planning process. Not only are their flowers and décor are stunning (we have been getting compliments on them for months after our wedding), but they were excellent to work with. They had impeccable communication with us throughout, were incredibly responsive and thoroughly answered all of our questions within hours. My partner and I did all of the planning ourselves, and having an extremely responsive vendor meant so much to us in the chaos of wedding planning. The team feels very much like a family-run affair, which we loved when we first met with them in person, when we were deciding on vendors. Other vendors we met with made us feel a bit more like we were one of many on a conveyor belt of events, but SRV made us feel like it was truly a personal experience. We made a few (potentially weird) requests for incorporating certain things into our décor and they executed with aplomb and excitement. We also made a few last minute changes a few weeks before the wedding, and SRV was flexible and happily reorganized some of their plan to accommodate our requests. Be aware that if you live in DC and don’t have a car, their warehouse is a little bit tricky to get to as it’s not accessible by public transportation, but that being said SRV went above and beyond to accommodate us carless folks—picking up vases from us at our apartment in downtown, meeting us at our tasting across town, and just being so nice and considerate to the fact that we were struggling a bit without a car. Tl;dr: amazing communication and attentiveness, personal connection, very flexible, kind and awesome team of ladies to work with. And obviously, gorgeous flowers!

Sweet Root Village is phenomenal. After one look at their portfolio I made the easy decision to hire them as our wedding day florist. For our wedding flowers I was hoping for a traditional (yet whimsical) and classic (without being stuffy) look and the SRV made the vision come to life! During our consultation I had no idea how to describe my vision, but the SRV team listened and were able to translate my rough descriptions into the most beautiful sketch to give me an idea of what the arrangements could look like. It was incredible--they just understood! The SRV team asked the right questions and were able to offer recommendations that tied in perfectly with the rest of the wedding day look. There is no way that I could have made the decisions without their help! The team worked within my budget to deliver the most beautiful reception arrangements, flowers for the wedding party, and the showstopper--my bridal bouquet (it had artichokes!). I can’t say enough great things about Sweet Root Village!

I chose to use Sweet Root Village which was one of the florists listed in the Morrison House Elopement Package. I am so glad I chose them. We worked with Lauren and she has an incredibly bubbly and friendly personality but takes her job very seriously and is incredibly passionate about it. We had an in-person meeting where she was very attentive and took excellent notes when I showed her pictures of what I wanted. Lauren and Rachel's passion for what they do came out in their work. My bouquets, alter garland, and dining room turned out more beautifully than I imagined. My wedding was in October 2015 and I had a few unusual color requests such as blue thistles paired with champagne roses, leucadendron for a red accent, succulents, and light orange roses. When I saw the bouquets, boutonnieres, and the BEAUTIFUL garland and flowers draped over the door for the alter, I was floored. Everything turned out more beautifully than I imagine. I also had an unusual request of birch branches with red berries for the dining room. Again, it turned out beautifully and better than I imagined. We booked flowers one year in advance. Lauren was incredibly flexible when I would randomly call and make requests to change things. She was happy to make the changes and also made recommendations when I asked her opinion. She was very prompt in providing a contract and subsequent updated contracts when I made changes. I felt that I received a lot of personalized attention from these two and would absolutely recommend them for your wedding or special event.

Were absolutely beautiful! We wanted to use local, seasonal flowers - the arrangements, bouquets, presentation for table settings, etc were beautiful, creative, sophisticated and generous. We didn't want to go "over the top" with flowers, and these wonderful ladies worked with our budget with a result that exceeded our expectations. Sweet Root Village is a combo Photography, Floral, and Wedding Coordination firm owned by 2 young women. We used them for all three, and they did a spectacular job. I can't recommend them highly enough!

Lauren and Rachel of SRV were wonderful to work with. From our initial consultation through the planning process and wedding day, they were always very timely in their responses. I only provided my color palette to them and gave them free reign to choose the actual blooms. They did a magnificent job and made my Pinterest ideas come to life. Very happy with their service and would highly recommend them to brides who are lacking in floral knowledge. They will certainly inform you and help you pick the right blooms for you!

Nearly every part of the order was incorrect, but they did try very hard to fix it.

These girls understand your vision 100%. They came fully prepared for my wedding and went above and beyond to make sure my wedding was exactly as I'd hoped it would be. They worked with my other vendors very professionally and arrived early for set up. It helped me relax quite a bit to have them so on top of things! They were also very responsive during the whole planning process - always timely in responding to emails. Their devotion to local and sustainable flower farms is applaudable and their flowers are of the highest quality and construction. I am so blessed they were a part of my big day. It would not have been as beautiful as it was without their handcrafted and unique bouquets, garlands and assortments. I love Sweet Root!

The ladies at sweet root village truly love their work and it shows in every bloom and detail. They worked with me to stay in budget, while focusing to carry my vision of vintage elegance to fruition. They looked at pictures of my dress, the venue, and my idea pictures, and came up with a floral concept even better than I imagined. Highly recommend!

i can't tell you how impressed i was with lauren and rachel. the entire experience with them from start to finish was just absolutely a pleasure! i approached them because i stumbled across their website and fell in love with their work! i was looking for someone to make a flower crown for me, and i had already been turned down by a number of florists who said my project wasn't worth their time and effort. (i was on a budget and DIY-ed lots of the other flowers) my consultation was inspiring, and helped me figure out other things for the wedding. the quote process was also super painless, and they were willing to work with my limitations. i actually ended up getting lots more flowers than i anticipated because they were so accommodating and had such great ideas! the whole process was just great, and i can't rave enough about these talented and sweet women!!!!!

HIRE THEM! Seriously, they are AMAZING!!!!!!! My flowers were PERFECT! They took the time to get to know me and what I was looking for in terms of bridal party flowers and decor. They picked up all of the decor items that I had purchased for our cocktail hour and reception. They came early and set everything up. My mom was THRILLED and still talks about it 7 months later. They came under my expected budget (every dollar saved adds up) and I dind't have to give up anything I wanted. My bouquet lasted 10 days! TEN! There are not enough words to truly capture how happy I was with their work. They are my preferred florist for sure! Lauren and Rachel went out of their way to make my dreams a reality. They are so helpful and kind! Really, if you want a florist who is going to think outside the box and be creative go talk to them! I suggest them to ALL of my friends and many have hired them and been thrilled too. If you want the best, call them NOW!

If you read no further, read this: USE THEM!!!! Best people and talent I've met!!!!!! From the beginning Sweet Root Village had not only been generous, but amazing. I won our engagement session in a competition- and so- even though Rachel wasn't getting paid she went above and beyond on our shoot- even buying and preparing and bringing props to make it vintage and to add an edge (our engagement session was WWII themed). Well after that, I entered ANOTHER competition from them, and won free make-up for my wedding day (again- so generous). Sarah Patch made the drive out to my home to "try out" the makeup style on her own expense. She is like Van Gogh with a make-up brush. The day of she was on time- and she made me feel and look more beautiful than I could have ever imagined for my wedding day. AND my makeup didn't run when I cried!!! And lasted until the next day. I hired them for flowers (after how AMAZING they'd been for me). I was very vague giving a very general deion that I wanted "wild flowers" yet "classy" with sunflowers for my bouquet, and even more vague for the boutonnieres. And NO roses! And then, last minute I added on flowers for my cake!!! They not only came through, but exceeded EVERY expectation I had for my flowers. The entire Sweet Root Village staff is kind, understanding, flexible, gracious, and, above all, talented. Even if I hadn't won those free photos and makeup- after seeing what they could do- I would have paid them for it! AND if I ever need photos in the future, I will save up to have them do them. I would trust no one else anymore. If I could have afforded it- they would have planned, decorated, and photographed my entire wedding!!!! Would I recommend this to a friend? Without a doubt!
