This hotel was unlike anywhere I’ve ever stayed before. After planning for 2 years, we had our wedding block here — approx. 40 rooms — but not our event. The outside of the build...ings looks low-rent and kind of like 1980’s summer camp, but the inside of the rooms are actually quite nice. You can definitely tell they’ve been updated recently, and I felt comfortable putting my highest-taste guests in these rooms.
They only have 3 suites in the entire hotel, so you will have to make some tough decisions with who gets them out of your wedding guests. The lobby is very small and there is no valet and no bellmen/bellwomen, which can be a little embarrassing depending on what your guests are expecting. But they do have room service which is a big plus.
Devon, who is in charge of the wedding blocks/events, is very tough to work with. She has an out of office up every single week, so she’s not available most of the time. I’m not sure if it’s out of her control, but there were several times that I asked for help with something and she couldn’t do anything for me — very inflexible. And although she has a sweet demeanor, you get the feeling that she is only there to support the hotel, not to make your wedding planning any easier.
Welcome Bags — One of the big issues was when I wanted to hand out “Welcome Bags” to my guests when they checked in. Devon said they could not accommodate that request. I have received a Welcome Bag at Best Westerns before, and I found it shocking that a hotel that costs $600/night would not be able to hand out bags to our guests. Those bags had the weekend itinerary in them, so it was important they received them. She did say they could deliver them at 5pm ($3/bag) . Unfortunately, our rehearsal & dinner were scheduled at that time and the wedding was at 5pm the following day. Considering that, these itineraries would be useless if our guests received them when they returned from these activities.
Luckily, our savior (Patricia) came up with a creative solution for us. She is on Devon’s team, and she understood my disappointment and figured out a makeshift solution. I’m so thankful for her.
We had a Wedding Brunch on Sunday, and Patricia helped us plan all of that. It went well, and the food was delicious. Unfortunately, we were told there was no late check out, even though we had an event on the property from 9am-12pm. So, we had to vacate our hotel room — the room where 8 bridesmaids got ready in — in a HUGE hurry before 9am. Considering I’ve been in contact with this hotel for over 1 year, I would’ve liked a heads up about this.
Lastly, an $800 gifted necklace of mine fell off inside my hotel room, and they found it a few days later. When I went to drive down to get it, they called me to say they had lost it again. They brought in HR and legal, so my assumption was that they would reimburse me the value of the necklace if it wasn’t found again since it was misplaced under their care. They ended up offering me some free nights at the hotel and a $250 hotel credit. This offer was really disappointing and frankly insulting. I hope no one else loses anything of value there — be careful.
Overall, I’d say this hotel was aesthetically nice, had enough rooms for a large wedding block, and located in a convenient area. But, management-wise, although they’re well-meaning, they are disorganized and confused.
