Mitch has been a part of the Terrace Bay Hotel family since the fall of 2021, but that doesn't mean he's new to the wedding scene. Mitch has been a sought after Event Planner in the Upper Peninsula for over 20 years. Throughout his career, Mitch has helped produce amazing celebrations from the Washington state to Connecticut and everywhere in between, bringing nationwide experience to weddings here in the Upper Peninsula. I couldn't have been happier with the top-notch service and help we had for our big day. Prompt-communication and extremely accommodating to all of our needs. The Terrace is a stunning venue along the water and the our food for all of our guests was delicious. We received alot of compliments for months after our wedding. Lisa was incredible and Mitch really knows his stuff. He provided multiple suggestions for our "non-traditional" wedding.

Terrace Bay Hotel made the perfect venue for my wife and I. We wanted to get married in the upper peninsula, but we're both from out of town. Mitch Taylor was our coordinator through the hotel, and he made the whole process a breeze. We met with him several times to discuss pricing, the venue, layout, scheduling, etc. He made the process so easy that we were more than comfortable with not visiting the venue ahead of time. the first time we saw the venue was two days before the wedding, and everything was absolutely perfect. When we arrived, we had to do very little work to get everything ready.
With Mitch's decades of experience in the area, he was able to put us in touch and coordinate with the local vendors we used. Plus, Mitch also runs Taylored Weddings, who we used for our DJ/MC services.
The hotel itself is beautiful and the restaurant in the hotel is absolutely phenomenal. The hotel restaurant also catered the food for the reception and rehearsal dinner, and everyone was raving about the food. Plus, the open bar had some great options (including some fantastic local craft beers, which I had not expected to be part of the open bar).
We had our rehearsal dinner and ceremony/reception all at Terrace Bay, and everything was phenomenal. We were worried that our ~70-person wedding would seem too small for the room, but they did a great job with the space to make it not feel empty. And the hotel staff that serviced the wedding were also absolutely top-notch.
Overall, having the venue, catering, coordination, and (since we had Taylored Weddings as our DJ) music all under one roof made planning the wedding an absolute breeze. Mitch Taylor and the folks at Terrace Bay Hotel made our lives so much easier and helped to make our wedding day absolutely perfect.
I researched and talked to a couple dozen different venues, and I couldn't be happier with my choice. My wife and I can't wait to visit Terrace Bay again in the future.

Terrace Bay Hotel is a beautiful wedding venue! The staff is friendly and helpful, and the food is truly wonderful. The only real issue we had was the wedding venue coordinator wasn’t able to be there for the rehearsal, so there were some snags in the flow of the ceremony. The reception went very smoothly!

Mitch and his team at the Terrace were AMAZING to work with! They saved us a meal with some of our cupcakes to eat later on that was ready in our room! All the staff were so nice and friendly, we were so happy to have had our wedding at the Terrace Bay Hotel!

We booked the Terrace Bay Hotel for my daughters wedding in February 2024. I'm not sure where to begin with how professional, organized & amazing they were. The banquet hall is beautiful and needs minimal decorating to personalize it for your event. The waitstaff was on top of it all night long with clean up, drinks and making sure the reception ran smoothly. Everyone raved about how awesome the food was! The event planner Mitch Taylor was extremely helpful in the planning process and quick to respond to any questions. And it was so convenient for our guests to be able to stay right at the hotel.

The Terrace was a beautiful place to hold our wedding ceremony and reception. They provide a lot of essentials so you don’t have to, such as tables, chairs, food, silverware, drinks, some decorations, etc. With all of that said, it is also a VERY expensive venue. You will need to pay for your own room the night before and there are no designated rooms for the bridal party or groomsman to get ready in. If you are traveling as we were, you will need to use your own hotel rooms to get ready in, take pictures, etc. Staff were friendly enough and did their job well.

Very professional and high end experience. We had a couple unusual requests and they worked with us to make it happen. Communication was better than anywhere else, they have a dedicated wedding planner who responds quickly and is also on site on the day. They were good at working with our outside service providers like our DJ and minister but can also find such things for you. Being able to have the ceremony, reception, and hotel all in one place works out really well. You do have to use their catering but it's fine because their food is really good and there's a lot of options. The site is nice with a view of the lake behind your ceremony, a path through some trees for extra pictures and a big ballroom for the reception.
Only con is its going to be more expensive than what they advertise upfront, for example they charge a service gratuity that's a percentage of the whole bill not just the services. But if you can afford the Terrace I feel it's worth it for what you get and I would recommend it for a full service hassle-free experience.

Excellent job! Our wedding coordinator Mitch did an excellent job walking us through all the options provided. He was particularly helpful ensuring that our gluten/dairy free guests where accommodated, our parents questions answered and allowed us to bring in some decorations for the venue! The day of ran flawlessly, all of our announcements went off without a hitch, and all our guests said it was the best wedding they’d been to in ages!

We had our wedding 8/25/23 at the Terrace Bay. It was a dream come true! We got our ceremony in prior to a rain. Mitch and Jen were amazing to work with. They responding quickly whenever I had questions. Every request we made they made happen.
The buffet was amazing. The food was hot and tasty. The event staff alone was outstanding. They notice every detail.
I would recommended this venue to any couple planning their wedding!

The Terrace is a beautiful place for a ceremony and reception in one. It's a beautiful setting, the food was amazing, Alex the banquet manager went above and beyond, and having a place for family and guests to stay is one less worry when planning a wedding.

The Terrace and its staff and owners were wonderful to work with for our wedding. Their weddings are very turn-key, so planning did not seem so stressful as they have a whole checklist and make sure to get every detail. I felt that they served the role as my wedding planner even though they were just hosting our reception. I was always able to go in and meet with the banquet manager or owner whenever I requested. The food was great; our guests had no complaints! They communicate well with other local vendors so I knew that the timelines would flow smoothly. All of the servers are professional there. The venue itself is beautiful! It's spacious, has elegant lighting and fixtures, and the back patio is perfect to get fresh air, smoke (if guests are smokers), and there's a gazebo and fountain that are perfect for pictures. Our guests had a wonderful time and were especially glad that it is a hotel so they could drink and not worry about organizing a ride home. I would 100% recommend The Terrace to any other local bride/family and think the new owners are doing a phenomenal job!!

The Terrace Bay Inn was very helpful throughout the entire wedding process. Sarah the coordinator was in touch through emails constantly. We were able to come visit the site several times to help plan out our decor. She was very helpful in developing our timeline for the day of the wedding. We were able to start decorating 2 days before the wedding which was wonderful since we did the decorating ourselves. The suites are recently remodeled and they are great. Although, I do think that the rest of the hotel could use an update. The ballroom however is gorgeous and the staff was very courteous. We had a wonderful time and I think that the Terrace is the best place to get married in the Escanaba/Gladstone area. They provide all of the linens, table cloths, chair covers, etc which can be a big expense at other locations. If you want a beautiful wedding overlooking Lake Michigan in all it's glory, the Terrace is the place to get married.
