We absolutely LOVED our wedding at Allan House. The house and courtyard are so beautiful! The staff were also super friendly and communicative. I’d highly recommend booking Allan House!
I had the pleasure of hosting my baby shower at The Allan House recently, and it was nothing short of perfect. From the start of the inquiry process, to the day of, the Allan House team were prompt with their replies, helpful with my questions throughout and incredibly attentive to the details. Guests raved about the space, and it was the perfect setting to bring my vision to life. Thank you to Juliana, Alex and Logen for being so easy to work with. 10/10 recommend this venue!
Having our wedding at The Allan House was one of the best decisions we made in terms of wedding planning. The venue is absolutely gorgeous, and they have been in the business long enough that all our vendors were familiar and comfortable with working with them. The price point was affordable and honestly the venue itself looked so classy and elegant people probably thought we spent even more. I cannot recommend The Allan House enough. Fantastic place to get married!
Any questions?
Guests loved the unique ambience of this venue. The Allan House being directly in the middle of downtown made it incredibly convenient for guests to stay and enjoy austin before and after the event. Communication was great and we never had any issues. There are only a few restrooms for guests - consider hiring an additional restroom service if your guest count is higher than 120! We didn’t have any issues with lines, however you were often waiting in a short line of 1-2 people. The Allan House is an experienced venue! Trust their recommendations on vendors! Some of our best vendors came from the Allan Houses preferred list :)
The Allan House hosted our wedding on May 6th, 2023. We're so glad we chose this venue! We had 120 people attend and there was sufficient space to accommodate everyone. We loved the flexibility that they offered compared to some of the other options we explored (BYOB possible for some of the specialty drinks we wanted). Julianna and the rest of the staff made things easy for us and they worked well with the other vendors we hired. The location is perfectly situated near downtown without being to chaotic. The stage worked out great for the band and lighting we had. One tip we would have is give extra attention to your tent / rain plans (not an issue for winter weddings as the tent stays up) - deposit with tent vendor is forfeited if canceled within 10 days of event which makes having the tent as a back-up option only impossible. We didn't want to construct the tent unless we had to, but the weather was impossible to forecast 3 days out (full amount due 72 hours in advance) much less 11 days out (when deposit becomes non-refundable). We ended up having the tent built despite the weather ultimately cooperating, but it was definitely preferable to needing the tent and not having it. Not a complaint - just the nature of the tent vendor contracts and needing the outdoor space at the venue for larger weddings. We definitely recommend having your wedding here!
Allan House was a dream. We had both our ceremony & reception here. We had the ceremony in the courtyard, then brought all the guests inside and onto the porch for cocktail hour while the courtyard was “flipped” for dinner & dancing.
Juliana is so helpful, informed, and easy to work with. She is professional, experienced, and made us feel very confident in our venue choice.
We had to secure a just-in-case rain tent through a third party company, Allan House only offers their custom tent during winter months.
We had 135 guests and had plenty of room for our guests but were still able to fill out the space nicely.
The bridal suite is suite gorgeous for photos, however it is not large enough to have hair/ make up etc done for a full bridal party— you will need to do that off site & show up to venue with hair and makeup done. I arrived pretty much completely ready but in robe & changed into my dress in the bridal suite.
The proximity to downtown is great. Lots of hotel options for guests that you can set up a hotel block at. The venue is still quiet and feels secluded, but close enough to downtown that it’s super easy to keep the party going after the wedding and head to the bar district :) There’s some free parking available & street parking, but you will probably want your guests to ride share (assuming guests will be drinking)
The Allan House is a beautiful venue that’s easily accessible within downtown Austin and ideal if you want your wedding near the heart of the city. Since our wedding was held during autumn, we had concerns about getting married on a UT game day given the traffic considerations for our guests, but everyone had a smooth experience getting to the venue. Juliana was highly responsive to questions throughout our planning process and was very accommodating to our requests. We were grateful to work with her in planning our event, and she did a great job working with all of our vendors. The venue parking was more than adequate for our 120 guests, and with proper directions, no one encountered difficulties on where to go. We do recommend additional lighting for anyone planning an afternoon outdoor wedding as the provided lighting is only enough to help move around - some of our guests did have a little bit of difficulty reading speeches outdoors as it progressed into the evening. If you want an outdoor wedding that is intimate and private within downtown Austin, this is the venue to go with!
The Allan House was an absolute dream! Juliana, the venue director, was a fantastic resource for venue related questions and general vendor/wedding guidance alike. We worked with a tent company to put the infamous “winter tent” up in October and Juliana was a huge help in confirming that all of our measurement details were straight. I could literally go on and gush about Juliana for ages. The venue itself was stunning. The porches have been renovated recently and wow wow wow do they make an impact. The courtyard was clean and surrounded by green, lush landscaping including three growing magnolias. Between the floral we brought in and the existing landscaping/trees, everything felt intimate and like our own little garden oasis. Logistically, everything transitioned like a well oiled machine. The flip was seamless and it was so natural to have folks move into the house and on the porches for cocktail hour. We are truly so thankful that we were able to get married at this beautiful venue. We had the flexibility to make it exactly what we wanted because the baseline is just natural beauty.
The Allan House is simply stunning. Both indoor and outdoor spaces are beautiful and inviting. The courtyard is filled with great trees, greenery, and flowers that make the backdrop dreamy. Our photographer took us to a few different locations around the house to shoot portraits and I couldn't tell you which setting was my favorite because they were all so beautiful.
There are "getting ready" rooms for the bride and groom. I did HMU elsewhere (which I recommend), but it was nice to have a place at the venue to settle in, put on my dress and do final touches to makeup. These rooms are not made for a bridal party of 12 girls all trying to get ready together, though.
Our wedding was large, about 160 people, therefore the ceremony and reception were both outside. Anything more than 160 I feel would be too crowded. I think the space "flip" went smoothly, and it was nice to still have an indoor space in the house or even on the porch for guests to retreat out of the heat during cocktail hour and the reception.
We really wanted an outside space that felt homey, like a big family gathering, and the Allan House delivered. We also loved that this was a hidden gem in the heart of downtown. It still felt tucked away enough that we could enjoy ourselves without the distraction of the hustle and bustle of the city, yet it allowed our guests who had never been to Austin the option to stay in the fun part of the city and be very close to the venue. Because of location, I would highly recommend encouraging guests to ride-share because parking is tough in the lot that's provided.
Side note: the house and courtyard are wheelchair accessible, which was a big plus for my family.
Juliana, the house owner, was so pleasant and easy to work with. She helped us make our vision a reality. You really can do so much with the house to make it your own. I would highly recommend this venue to anyone.
The Allan House was the perfect venue for our intimate wedding celebration! The premises are absolutely breathtaking - the perfect setting for our classic-with-a-modern-twist wedding aesthetic. The venue staff was fantastic to work with - Juliana was quick to answer any questions I had and was very helpful and friendly. The Allan House's preferred vendor list was essentially a wedding planning Bible - they have strong relationships with fantastic vendors at a range of price points to help guide you in planning your event. I can't recommend this venue enough!!
We chose The Allan House for our April 30, 2022 wedding because the venue matched my husband's classic taste and style, had a great flow throughout the house and courtyard, and just felt like a naturally beautiful, neutral backdrop for our otherwise colorful event. I truly feel this venue can be taken a hundred different aesthetic directions to match the style of the couple. We were also *so* charmed by courtyard's old trees and greenery -- it felt like a sweet, natural refuge in the heart of the city. A fun floral color palette pops beautifully against the greenery! And after dark, the twinkly lights in the trees set a beautiful ambience and were so magical for dancing the night away. I will also add, as a lover of color, that adding streamers overhead amidst the tree branches was such a BIG, FUN touch.
Though the venue is gorgeous on its own, Juliana is the real star of the show. A joy to work with throughout our years of planning, Juliana was always quick to respond to questions, accommodating to new ideas, and just a great communicator with both us and our planner. Her expertise is also apparent in all the wonderful connections she has throughout the wedding industry - other vendors spoke highly of her and the venue throughout planning. Juliana's support and calm, collected manner were most helpful when having to make the decision to nix a rain tent at the very last minute. She didn't have to be involved in that decision, but we super appreciated that one more person was helping us make the tough call - and that she was invested in helping us have the best day possible for our wedding!
Overall, every piece of our special day fell into place perfectly at The Allan House, as if it was all meant to come together in that space. Vendors are comfortable working within the venue's space. And due to its history in the events scene, I feel the best planners know how to really spice this gem up to make it special for the couple. Guests loved the space as well - the balconies were wonderful for cocktail hour as the courtyard was transitioned from ceremony to reception. (Note: inside the house can get very loud when guests are mingling, which made me appreciate the balconies even more.)
A few tips/notes from our experience: 1) The upper balcony was perfect for capturing portraits at golden hour, and it was refreshing to step away from the party for a few quiet moments with just our photographer and videographer. 2) The bride and groom suites worked perfect for our group -- we did not have a bridal party or groomsmen, just our immediate family members present to help us get ready. All hair/makeup was done off-site. 3) I was slightly nervous about the aesthetics and quality of the courtyard sound booth but everyone assured me it would be great. They were right -- the DJ and other musicians that played throughout the evening sounded awesome, and the booth itself just fades into the background. It felt positioned perfectly to pull guests from all corners of the courtyard onto the dance floor when a crowd-pleaser played. 4) I was unsure how dancing on the cobblestones would be, and some ladies definitely had sore feet in their (block) heels, but there were zero issues and guests enjoyed all types of dance.
We love, love, loved our wedding day and The Allan House was the perfect venue for our colorful, party-forward, cocktail style, laidback event. I would highly recommend Juliana and The Allan House to all other couples!
We held our wedding and reception at the Allan House and it was so special and unique. Even our guests who live in Austin with us were blown away that this beautiful place is right in the middle of downtown Austin. The venue is so beautiful on its own, which was perfect for us because we didn’t have to purchase or plan for much decor at all! I’m so excited to see how our pictures turned out there!
We only had to look at one venue when looking for our wedding. After meeting Juliana and seeing the venue, we knew the Allan House was the one! Our wedding was in April of this year and it was perfect. The Allan House was super easy to work with and their venue was the exact vibe we were looking for. I have no hesitations in recommending them!
My husband I got married at the Allan House in February 2022 and couldn't recommend this venue enough. Julianna was very responsive and was so easy to work with along the way. The chairs and tables being included in the price was a huge plus, along with the winter tent free of charge as we were in the winter months. The location is wonderful and is very close to the heart of downtown but still feels secluded and quaint. We would choose the Allan House again with no question!
The Allan House was the first vendor we booked during wedding planning. Juliana was extremely helpful throughout the whole process. She was very responsive and flexible with our requests. She provided many vendor recommendations for us at the outset of planning that helped set us on the right path.
We were worried that having a wedding during the winter would not be as beautiful as the more popular spring/summer times, but the Allan House helped us put on a gorgeous event! The venue is very pretty itself, but the tent (provided complimentary for the winter ceremonies DEC-FEB) only added to the aesthetic. The tent was also provided an inclement weather plan which luckily we didn't have to use.
Couples, don't stray away from the winter weddings! Find vendors like the Allan House that can give you your dream wedding wedding any time of the year.
The most dreamy downtown Austin wedding venue! We were married here in early December 2021 and had the most perfect day. Juliana helped with every question we had, the space was exactly what we imagined, and our guests couldn't stop talking about how magical the space was. With the December booking, we received the "Winter Tent" free of charge and it was perfectly temperature controlled. We had 150 guests and they all fit with some room to spare. This venue is easy to access from any hotel downtown and has ample parking included if needed at a nearby lot. Highly recommend this venue to anyone looking for a central Austin location without the crazy downtown pricing. 10/10!
If you are looking for a unique, historic venue, I cannot recommend the Allan House highly enough. We celebrated our rehearsal dinner with an intimate meal for around 30-40 of our close family and friends on the porch and it was truly one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen (of course we had gorgeous September weather on top of everything else). Frankly, it’s taken me several months to try to put into words how truly special it was.
The Allan House lends itself to so many different styles of events, not only intimate gatherings like ours, but I’ve also been fortunate to attend stunner outdoor weddings with the winter tent (which is absolutely incredible, even on the rainiest of days). There are so many noteworthy aspects to the space and there really aren’t any other venues like it in Austin.
I am biased, but can say confidently that Juliana is a treasure and it’s clear why others in the wedding industry hold her in the highest regard. You would be in great hands if you decided to host an event here.
My wife and I were married here a few weeks ago, and we are absolutely in love with the venue. In the winter months, they have an outdoor tent that is temperature-controlled and enormous with chandeliers and string lights. It was perfect both for the ceremony and for the reception.
My husband and I started our venue search in the middle of Covid - so many venues were booking quickly due to couples rescheduling to 2021, and others were closing down due to not having business in 2020. We were so lucky to be able to snag a date at The Allan House. Julianna was able to host a virtual tour with us and my parents and then show us around in person after. She was so on top of providing answers to any questions we had and keeping in touch regarding dates we were interested in. The venue has the charm of a historic venue, but you're in the heart of downtown Austin, which we both really wanted. We also liked that we could use a caterer of our choice. The venue is BEAUTIFUL with the large oak trees and wraparound porch. We could not have asked for more, and the team was all-star on top of it all.
When searching for wedding venues, my husband and made plans to tour some locations to help us decide where we wanted to go (pre-pandemic). Once we arrived, walked around, and talked to Julianna (wedding planning binder in hand) we just loved the place. It was our first stop and nothing beat it!
Settling on a date, and understanding the plethora of rentals included (tables and chairs for 150+ guests) just made the decision that much easier! Juliana was so warm and kind, and worked seamlessly with our coordinator (Mockingbird Lane Events-truly another amazing wedding must-have!) When we requested an additional half-hour for our catering staff, the transaction was quick and reasonable.
Getting married during a global pandemic is sure to cause some headaches, but there was never any issues with communication with Juliana and ensuring we moved forward. My father even contacted her over a year ahead of time to help with research for hotels since majority of our guests were from out of town. She provided a list and professional suggestions about what was worth our time and energy.
The Allan House was absolutely perfect for our quiet, classic yet laid back style of wedding. This backdrop made all of our guests look even more stunning, and the tree lit up at night was gorgeous. Highly suggest The Allan House. You can't go wrong with a beautiful and historic home for your weddings or party needs!
I love The Allan House. This place is drop dead gorgeous. The house is beautifully decorated and the outside space has the perfect backyard wedding feel.
The Allan House is a beautiful venue with lots of special spots for picture taking, from the second story balconies with tree canopies to the front porch. Our ceremony was in January and the winter tent was the perfect temperature. It was important to my daughter to have her wedding outside, but we knew in January the weather could make that impossible. The Allan House's winter tent gave us the security of knowing we could have it outside no matter what, and we still got the "feel" of the outdoors with the trees wrapped in twinkle lights coming into the tent and the clear panels so we could see the sky and the trees above us. All our vendors spoke highly of their experiences working with Allan House, which gave us a good feeling from the start. They were quick to flex when we made changes to our dinner table location a few days before, and we had a quick response when we arrived the day of and couldn't get the bathroom door open. They were professional and efficient and kind throughout the process of planning, despite the stress of pandemic. Highly recommend!
The Allan House was the best venue I could ask for. I had a wedding in December with the tent. It was gloomy and rainy, you would think the weather would bring the whole event down. But the gorgeous venue and tent with the outdoor lighting and chandeliers made it romantic. We felt as if we were in a snow globe. Everything was so perfect.
The Allan House was the perfect venue for our small January wedding of just 23 guests (although I think the venue would also work well for a larger wedding). Juliana is wonderful and was very responsive to our various questions throughout the planning process. The winter tent was the reason we were first interested in The Allan House and it did not disappoint! The decorations were beautiful and the tent was comfortably warm. I definitely recommend the Allan House!
I would give The Allan House 4.5 stars. It is a beautiful venue in downtown Austin. Parking is easy for a smaller wedding. The outdoor courtyard and beautiful overhanging tree is beautiful for a wedding. There is a bridal suite on the main floor, and a groom's suite in the basement. 1/4 star knocked off because the bridal suite was not the best for makeup application. I think most brides get ready in another location, but since all of my bridesmaids were traveling into town I wanted us all in the same place and not have to lug our things across town. The bridal suite consists of a bathroom, couch/seating area and what looks to be a dining area near the front. The HMUA found that the only room with good light was the front dining room, which made it so that guests could see us all getting ready upon entering.
The price does include many rentals of which we used bistro tables for cocktail hour, and the round tables and matching chairs for the ceremony and reception. It is a popular venue in Austin, so many of our vendors were already familiar with the place which made things run smoothly.
I knock off another 1/4 star rating due to price. I booked the Allan House after cancelling my overseas wedding. There was a great discount for a few months, and we decided to book. There was a second wave happening in Austin, so we decided to postpone by a few months. While they were easy to work with, they were also quick to add additional charges on top of the deposit already paid to reschedule. An additional charge for postponing during a global pandemic? I would have hoped they would be more flexible to people's need to postpone due to a rise in cases.
Response from the Vendor on 01/12/2021
Hi Samantha! We loved working with you on your wedding, and your pictures are stunning! Thank you so much for choosing The Allan House.
Your insight on the bridal suite rooms & your experience having your hair and make up done on our property ...
is invaluable, so thank you for including this. As you mentioned, most of our clients do not choose to have their hair and make up done on-site, and if they do they are typically finished hours before guests are set to arrive, so this isn't something we have run into previously. However it is good information to have, and we will be sure to share that knowledge with future clients who have similar timelines to yours.
I am sorry to see you've knocked off 1/4 of a star for the price of the venue. When you booked your original August date with us, you were offered a 50% discount because of the quick turnaround before your event & everything happening with the pandemic. When you postponed your wedding to November, we did still honor that 50% discount, however the price increase reflected your move from an off-peak August date to a peak-season November date. I am sorry that you felt like we were quick to add additional charges, as we try to always be transparent with our pricing.
If you have additional comments or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me directly.
Sincerely,
Juliana Ross

We had an outside ceremony and reception at the Allan House in October 2020. They have a beautiful courtyard and amenities. This historic house is so beautiful in the heart of downtown Austin! Their staff is lovely to work with. I would definitely recommend the Allan House to everyone for a wedding or any other event.
love this place. It’s a total Southern Brides dream. It’s like a country/French country side like venue in the middle of the city. It was in our opinion reasonably priced compared to a lot of venues.
Had bridal and grooms suites. Stunning at night. Great spot for if you have a smaller wedding and need a rain option to go indoors. Also a great spot for a larger wedding outdoors. We had Specs and HEB deliver alcohol and mixers straight to the venue.
Everyone pretty much Uber’s to the venue or there’s some street parking.
We had our ceremony and reception at the Allan House and cannot recommend this space enough. Juliana was incredibly helpful throughout the entire planning process and answered my many, many questions. We loved the venue for its spacious intimacy, as we took advantage of the inside, veranda, and outdoor courtyard areas. One of my favorite aspects of the venue is that you can go the extra mile with decor and rentals, or you can keep it simple and minimal and either way, it's elegant and romantic. The Allan House is the best of both worlds, as its cozy and intimate, surrounded by trees and twinkle lights, while also sitting in the middle of downtown. Truly a one-of-a-kind gem.
Don't get me wrong, The Allan House is gorgeous! That is why it gets two stars. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 and both my and my partners job loss because of it, we had to cancel our wedding. Several of our guests have also lost their jobs, and would not be able attend the wedding also. However, even through an international pandemic, we are not able to get a refund of our deposit from the venue (even though we cancelled several months ahead of the wedding). It would be nice for a business to have some grace through such a hard time, much like our other vendors, but The Allan House does not. I would not recommend this venue.
Response from the Vendor on 05/24/2020
Thank you so much for letting us know how you feel. We are truly sorry for the hardships you and your partner have been facing surrounding the COVID-19 outbreak, and we're sorry that you won't be hosting your wedding at our venue this October. ...
I can only hope your feedback helps us improve our communication with clients about the policies in our contract.
This pandemic has been extremely difficult for so many individuals and small businesses alike, but we have been striving to serve our clients as best we can as we navigate this difficult time together. We have been facilitating postponements for many of our events, and I would be happy to discuss that option with you, if you choose to reschedule your wedding. Please reach out to me directly (call 512-478-8653 or email events@allanhouse.com) if this could be a possible solution.
Respectfully,
Juliana Ross
The Allan House was the first and only venue we looked at. We knew immediately that this was where we wanted to hold our wedding. Juliana was an absolute pleasure to work with and helped us to make our wedding dreams come true. With the tent being included in the winter package we were able to deck out the Allan House and bring our vision to life! We would recommend the venue to anyone looking to have a magical wedding in the trees!
We researched a lot of venues and decided the allan house would be the first one we visit. We went on a tour then came back the next day for an open house, we did not visit anywhere else because we were in love. The allan house has a perfect location in the middle of austin and makes you feel like you are in the hill country. they have a lovely entrance space that open up into an huge open porch then descends into a grand court yard. The lighting seems to be perfect at all times. the courtyard has large treas that bow over it adding life in contrast to the limestone paving. The staff are friendly and work with you as timelines and the weather changes. I am so lucky to have had our wedding here and know you will feel the same once you visit.
The Allan House was the most PERFECT venue we could have picked for our wedding! We worked with Juliana from beginning to end, and she was so helpful, supportive, responsive, and kind. We had crazy weather the night of our wedding, which entailed numerous last minute shifts that Juliana and her team completely made seamless and perfect for us. The venue is gorgeous, the location is perfect, and since many of our guests were from out of town they loved being right near downtown. Can't recommend this venue enough!
The Allan House is a gorgeous and historic venue in Austin. Julianna was responsive and helpful during the entire planning process. We used quite a few of their recommended vendors and were very impressed by how flawlessly they worked together to help make our wedding wishes a reality.
The winter tent was beautiful and allowed us to not worry about the weather on our wedding day. The tent provided an intimate atmosphere for the ceremony and reception and was easy to decorate.
I would HIGHLY recommend the Allan House to anyone looking for a memorable wedding or event venue.
The Allan House was a such a unique venue and had all the magic of the outdoors from the comfort of a gorgeous, clear, heated tent. I cannot tell you how many compliments we got on the venue and how beautiful it was (especially with the tree and chandeliers). Although the space is very versatile and you can bring in whatever personal touches you'd like for your own wedding, The Allan House's beauty pretty much speaks for itself. Juliana was very quick to respond to our concerns and questions. Definitely recommend this venue!
Allan House was a perfect whimsically romantic venue for our January wedding. It was definitely not your hotel banquet room or rustic barn. What really attracted us to Allan House was the location in downtown Austin as well as the complimentary heated tent during the winter months (Dec - Feb). We had a lot of out of town guests and decided that a wedding right after the holidays would be the most ideal for everyone. A lot of the other venues did not offer the heated tent and it was perfect for an evening winter wedding. We also, loved the twinkly lights and majestic tree in the middle of the tent. Juliana was very communicative and easy to work with throughout the process. Allan House is truly a dream and really made our wedding day special.
The Allan House was the perfect location for the outdoor twinkly-light wedding I have always dreamed of.
My husband and I both grew up in Illinois, so we had mostly out-of-town guests coming to Austin for our wedding. We looked at many venues in the hill country that we loved, but when it came down to it, we wanted our guests to experience the city of Austin that we loved, and having the ceremony at the Allan House did just that.
Juliana was great always quick to respond to the questions and requests we threw at her!
I loved our courtyard twinkly-light wedding - it was better than my dreams :)
We had both our ceremony and reception at The Allan House and could not have asked for a more perfect venue. My husband and I hated the idea of getting married in one of those popular "wedding barn" type venues that you can find all over the Hill Country. We wanted a unique downtown venue that wasn't a bare hotel ballroom. The Allan House was perfect! You hardly need any decor as the house/courtyard itself are so gorgeous and full of character. The staff was absolutely incredible as well, super responsive, and very laid back and easy to work with.
The Allan House Venue was magical. The staff was very attentive and the whole process from day one has been a very smooth ride. Juliana was great! She was very responsive with all my questions and concerns. The wedding turned out better than expected and we are glad to have chosen the Allan House. Highly recommend if looking for a courtyard marriage.
The Allan House was AMAZING. I still get compliments about how beautiful the house and courtyard were. It is right in the middle of downtown, but it is away from all of the hustle and bustle that normally comes with Downtown Austin. Highly recommend this venue for any bride!
My Daughter had her wedding at the Allan House, located in the heart of Austin in April 2019. We had about 90 people and the Allan House and grounds perfectly accommodated us for the ceremony, cocktails & appetizers, dinner and dancing. It was beautiful! They provide all the tables and chairs for the evening activities. It was also very accessible for our guests with a parking lot (rented extra) right by the venue. Additionally, they worked very well with all our other vendors. Juliana, the manager, was informative, responsive and always eager to help. I would look forward to having another event at the Allan House.
Overall, The Allan House provided a really beautiful location for our ceremony and reception. There's not much that you have to do to make it look like a fairytale. I really liked that they provided the tables and chairs because that was one less vendor we had to book.
I planned my wedding from out of state so it was a bit challenging only being able to see the venue once and trying to remember everything that they had inside.
I would give them 4.5 stars if I could but the only reason they're not a 5 (in my opinion) is because of the slight lack of a personalized experience. It kind of felt like just another wedding to them. The communication sort of felt automated and just like a transaction.
And just two things I would change if I could do it again: I know another bride mentioned it here but the bridal and grooms suites don't have signs on the doors which caused a lot of guests to just walk in. We also reserved the parking lot but guests still had trouble finding it because there are several lots all next to each other without signs. I would suggest for any future brides to create signs for those.
Other than that, I would definitely recommend booking them. The downtown location is awesome and the venue is stunning!
AMAZING WEDDING CEREMONY & RECEPTION VENUE!! Excellent price for downtown location. Juliana (manager) is super cool and extremely helpful. I would book it all over again. The flip of the tent from ceremony to reception was flawless and so perfect. It could not have gone any smoother. My heart is so happy thinking about it.
They are pretty strict about entering and exiting venue, so just know that. But, we were able to figure it out and I still highly recommend them!
The Allan House was the 2nd venue we looked at and as soon as we left the tour, our minds were made up. The venue is beautiful, elegant, and the outdoor area is heavenly. Juliana was our point of contact from the beginning. She is great with answering any questions and very informative about the whole process. It can get overwhelming! But she helped us out.
Our wedding was just how we imagined it. We had the wedding ceremony and reception outdoors with cocktail hour and cake cutting indoors. The bride and groom suites are spacious. We were able to keep the bouquets in my room and all of my bridesmaids got dressed in there. Everything went smoothly on the day of! We had a blast at the Allan House. And we received our deposit back swiftly.
The only time I ever had frustration was not directly with the Allan House but with the tent rental and due to our lack of research on prices/process of said rental. We didn't need the tent so it was all perfectly fine in the end. It would NOT have changed our decision to go with the Allan House by any means..I just would have prepared the budget to account for that possibility. So this gripe is just a heads up to do your research and be prepared for it if you have a budget you need to stay in. We reserved a tent just in case and were able to do a tent share with the other brides so it cut our deposit down to 1/3. The tent share process itself is pretty annoying..But that's more of an issue with the rental companies.
We LOVED this venue - it is a little oasis in the middle of downtown! First, don't underestimate the convenience of a downtown location. Guests were able to walk from their hotel (The Element... which they also really liked) and day of logistics were so easy with a downtown location. Our three favorite parts of the venue were the tree (so amazing!), built-in lighting (no need to decorate other than florals really!), and Juliana (venue coordinator). Juliana is extremely responsive and has informative answers to all questions. We only had 2 main complaints. First was about the rain tent... you have to decide 3 days out if you want to put it up, which is difficult with Texas weather. Second, was that you can't get into the venue until 330pm on your wedding day so any last minute logistics/decoration or cake drop-off all need to happen right before the ceremony.
The Allan House was the most incredible venue ever for our wedding earlier this month. The ambience was truly magical and all of our guests were in awe of the space. From the beginning, Juliana was a dream to work with. She was responsive, knowledgable and happy to help with any of my requests. Your wedding day will be the highlight of your life and ours was made possible by having it in this space. Highly recommend! If we could do it again and again we would. Thank you for everything Juliana!!!
The Allan House is a gorgeous venue! We loved the ambiance. The historical home has fantastic details, and the courtyard with the large oak trees was the perfect setting for our wedding. Juliana was very helpful and provided wonderful recommendations.
Julianna is amazing! We were a little disappointed that it poured rain on our wedding day but the tent looked amazing with the cafe lights and chandeliers. It was the best day ever and the Allan house was the most amazing venue!
Booking the Allan House for our wedding was one of the best decisions that we made in the process. Working with Juliana was simple and easy and the venue itself it absolutely beautiful. It fit our 120-guest wedding perfectly, and the winter tent allowed us to create an even more beautiful atmosphere by adding draping and lighting. I highly recommend for any couple looking for a downtown location with a southern garden ambiance.
What an amazing location!!! We just had the wedding of our dreams there. Gorgeous restored Victorian house with incredible backyard. Juliana was a pleasure to work with and very responsive. Thanks for helping our dreams come true!!!
BEST WEDDING VENUE EVER!!!!
We looked at all Austin venues - and our decision to use the Allan House was a very easy one!
From the minute we walked in the door - everything was perfect. The grounds and mansion were immaculate, Juliana was warm and welcoming and the location was PERFECT. All adding up to the most magical evening. During the planning process - Juliana was always available via phone and email to answer any questions and provide advice and direction. It is a very romantic , warm and wonderful venue - that I would highly recommend!
The Allan House was a Magical place, our wedding was beautiful and we couldn't have done it without the help of their staff, Juliana was so friendly and helpful!
We totally recommend this beautiful venue, it's so romantic and timeless.
The Allan House was the first and only venue my husband and I looked at and we loved it from the beginning! It was the perfect size for our 115 guest wedding, and every guest I spoke to commented on how beautiful and interesting the house was. Juliana is fabulous and easy to work with and answer all of my questions quickly and kindly. I loved the Allan House and would recommend it to anyone!
I will admit that our winter wedding was beautiful here. But there were a few downsides that made the experience difficult (and I've heard worse than my own experience). So, I'm writing this because I believe that there are more beautiful venues that offer all the same options that will provide a better experience.
The good: Our wedding was beautiful, the venue is centrally located, and the patio is spectacular!
The bad: working with the property manager (Juliana) was ridiculous. I had to fight for the right to hire my own help and bring in my own alcohol (even though the contract provided specific wording in support of this). The venue building (interior) was almost as cold as outside (40 degrees). I understand its a winter wedding, but if I'm inside it better be warm. Before the wedding and during set up, Juliana wouldn't even let my fiance put his suit in the closet while they worked on setting up the outside because our time didn't start until 4:30pm. Yet, when our time finally did start, she was still showing guests around the property that we were paying for to have privately rented! Finally, 1 hour before our time was over they turned off one of the heaters to the outside tent so everyone would leave. It was infuriating because it was so cold outside and people were working very hard to get everything cleaned up.
I believe that if you work in the wedding industry you should be excited for people getting married, not hassling them over every stipulation. The people here are very fake and curt and I'm a Texas gal so I did not appreciate the lack of hospitality.
Despite all this, yes our day was beautiful and the space was perfect for our <100 guests. I will say that the people at their sister property Brodie House are amazing and very warm in nature!
We had our ceremony and reception at Allan House and it was perfect :) the house is well maintained and it was perfect and unique for what our guests were used to. I wish it was a little better air conditioned but the twinkle lights on the trees are beautiful!
We had my rehearsal dinner at Allan House in May, and it was the most beautiful space! The staff was so accommodating, we were able to bring in BBQ and our own alcohol, which was a huge plus. It was the perfect space for an elegant yet relaxed event. Gorgeous trees and very Austin feel!
We had our rehearsal dinner at Allan House in early May. Everything was perfect!! It was a gorgeous space and the staff was so helpful and easy to work with. We had so many compliments on our RD and I couldn't have chosen better.
As soon as we became engaged, i began looking at different venues. The Allan House was the only venue that was cost efficient and still beautiful that I could find! It was also dog friendly (important to us - our dog was our ring bearer!) I loved all of the antique furniture on the inside of the house and the amazing trees in the courtyard. Be aware though that you may have to pay for a rain tent, this venue does not provide that. One thing I wish I would have done was make a sign for the bridal suite. Even when we had the door shut during the cocktail hour and reception, people kept walking through there to go to the bathroom (there are other bathrooms at the venue too!) and just to sit in there when my bridal parties purses and other personal items were laying around the room. It was very weird that people did this, so I suggest to make a sign! But this is not the Allan Houses fault at all! The staff and venue were amazing and the staff was very prompt with replying to emails during the planning process!
The Allan House was the first and only venue I saw. I immediately fell in love with the romantic aesthetic of the place. It was the perfect size for 130 guests. I also had an Indian-Hindu wedding and my husband is neither, which brought its own logistical challenges. Juliana was very knowledgeable about how to navigate our unique situation. We had a baraat (groom's procession) down San Antonio to the house and we had a mandap, which is similar to a hoopah, in the courtyard. I got tons of compliments on the venue. The Allan House is a one of a kind place, and if your wedding is 150 guests or under, this place has the best value and aesthetic. That they don't impose vendors on you is an added bonus. The Allan House perfectly matched our personalities and felt very Austin. Hotel ballrooms are vastly overrated, especially when compared to this beautiful space.
This venue was just perfect. It's in the heart of downtown Austin, but still in a secluded neighborhood with big trees. We had both the ceremony and reception here and it was super easy. The clear tent is also really really pretty. Normally tents are just there to cover you from the weather, but this tent makes the place even cooler than if you didnt have one.
The most special venue there ever was! Once my husband and I toured the Allan House at one of their open house events, and met the wonderful Juliana, we knew that the Allan House was the place for us. We picked a late February wedding date so that we could have access to their glorious winter tent. And boy was it glorious. We had about 90 guests attend our wedding, and it was the most magical day of our lives. We worked with Loot Vintage Rentals to add the most beautiful custom draping to the ceiling of the tent, and it made it even more perfect! The lighting and the trees with the candlelight on the tables made for the most romantic and stunning event we could have ever dreamed of! Not to mention, since we do not live in Austin, we leaned on Juliana a lot for advice on vendors and where to go and even where to have our after party! She was so professional and always responded so quickly and with genuine care. We are so lucky to have been able to work with her and the rest of our vendors to make the day absolutely perfect! The Allan House is everything we wanted in a venue - unpretentious, elegant and unique! I've never seen another venue quite like it. It's so charming and special and we couldn't imagine being married anywhere else. We give it the highest recommendation! You will not regret it! All of our love to Juliana and the Allan House staff for giving us the most wonderful canvas to build our fairytale!
The Allan House is a beautiful venue that has natural elegance and charm. We had 150 people at our wedding in the winter tent and it was cozy but not too tight. I wouldn't recommend many more people than that. The lighting included gives a warm ambiance and really no extra lighting is needed, Juliana was very pleasant to work with and responded quickly to any inquires. The major down side to the venue is all of the extra costs. They have a parking lot for an extra fee and we had to add time to the standard 7 hours just to accommodate food prep and have decent amount of time for dancing. Also it rained to day of our wedding and the base of the porch stairs had a large puddle of water that was a hazard for guests. It also creating some dripping which was unfortunate for our guests in their nice clothes. Otherwise the venue is a little small but has a beauty not found otherwise in downtown Austin
The Allan House was perfect for our wedding! They were very amenable and it was absolutely beautiful!
This was the only venue that my husband and I looked at. We knew immediately that it would be perfect for our January wedding. I had always wanted to get married outside, but it being Texas you never know what to expect with the weather (especially in January). The Allan House puts up a clear top tent with drop down sides, there is a beautiful oak tree that comes through the tent giving it an indoor/outdoor feeling. The lights around the trees, and fence line give a magical feeling. The chandeliers that are hung from the tent make for a very elegant and stunning look. The ceremony was outside under the tent, then we held a cocktail hour inside the house, while the outside space was flipped for the reception. Everything went smoothly with the crew and the flip. Everyone at the wedding commented on how beautiful the space was and how perfect it was the for or sized wedding (just under 100 people). Working with Julianna was a great process, my only complaint is that we saw the "security guard" the venue requires (and provides in the fee for the space) was sitting on the porch all night watching a movie on his iPad wearing headphones. I wished he had at least looked like he was doing something worthwhile. Other than that, I have nothing bad to say. It is an amazing historic home that provides a nice vintage/modern feel.
The staff at The Allan House is incredible!!! They are on top of everything and have great recommendations for vendors for the actual wedding day! The house is just beautiful and the winter tent has the best heating ability that I have ever experienced! The only problem was that it poured during the wedding and there were a few holes in the tent, which allowed water to come in and the bridesmaids and my wedding dress got a little wet on the bottom. Other than that- spectacular venue with a wonderful staff!
The entire process of working with the Allan House was very, very easy and they were extremely helpful. The day of the wedding, they helped us with nothing we needed, were flexible with us, and were friendly! We are more than pleased with their service!!
We had our wedding at the Allan House this past weekend, and it was the perfect winter wedding venue. The tent is so beautiful that it doesn't require much decorating--a huge plus when planning from out of town. The staff was great to work with, and all of the recommended vendors were wonderful. Highly recommend.
I would definitely recommend The Allan House for a spring or fall wedding!
I had my wedding at The Allan House July 2014. Overall it was great. The house and courtyard were beautiful. I got so many complements on how great of a location it was. Even though it is located downtown, you don't feel like you are in downtown Austin. The courtyard had lanterns and chandeliers hanging from the trees, which made it that much more beautiful at night. The staff was wonderful. They answered all of my questions and emails right away...which was a big deal since I do not live in the area. They were very helpful and gave many suggestions for other vendors.
Some add on fees as we went along but great to work with and the tent is an amazing deal for winter brides
The Allan House offered a spectacularly beautiful setting for my January wedding. December through February the venue provides a heated, custom tent at no additional cost. The word "tent" does not do justice though because it has been customized to allow the lighted trees on the property to pass through the tent, and the tent is clear so you are able to enjoy the beautiful sky above. We had both the ceremony and reception at this venue. We used the tent for the ceremony, the house and covered porches for the cocktail hour, and then the tent for dinner and reception. Additionally, Allan House is one of the few downtown venues in Austin that is able to comfortably accommodate 150-175 guests. It's also the only venue I found that provided a heated outdoor location for the event at no extra cost. The venue rental also comes with 150 chairs, 19 tables (which seat 8-10), and roughly 8 metal cafe tables with chairs on the porch areas. It saved us a lot of money to not have to rent chairs and tables for the ceremony and reception separately. The inside of the venue is a well-maintained historic Victorian home. There is some furniture provided, but we ended up renting a couple of couches to provide more seating during the cocktail hour and reception.
I loved this little gem in Austin for my October wedding of about 70 people. All the guests are still raving about the location and the outdoor reception under the stars and twinkle lights. The layout is perfect for a wedding allowing special areas for the ceremony, reception, cake and cocktail hour.
The staff at the Allan House is more than professional; they are quick to respond to emails or phone calls and can help you with anything. Juliana was a lifesaver for my wedding. She spent tones of time with me on the phone and via email the week of the wedding and after the wedding as the weather started misbehave for my wedding.
Pros:
1) Downtown Austin – everyone can take taxis or walk back to the hotels/6th street.
2) Perfect layout. Guests flow was perfect during cocktail hour and the reception.
3) Little decorations needed. The place is the true focus.
4) Amazing photo opportunities
5) Flexibility in choosing wedding vendors including stocking the bar.
6) Amazing staff that listens to you, helps you and cares. Everything I talked to them about during the final walkthrough was perfectly executed by their staff.
7) Staff was extremely flexible in my last minute/day of requests to be on standby for setting up the chairs and hanging the white paper lanterns.
Cons:
1) No rain plan. Tents are expensive (about 3k, make sure you work with Juliana before you sign a contract and tent sharing is not always an option).
2) Set hours. You do not get all day access to venue.
My husband and I got married in September at the Allan House and I cannot say enough about our experience with Juliana and her team! They were quick to answer questions and let us walk through the space every time we came in from New York for a planning session. The venue is absolutely amazing and was exactly what we wanted---a little bit of inside and a whole lot of outside under the big Texas nighttime sky. The light-wrapped trees and lanterns really make the courtyard a magical place to have an evening wedding. I would highly recommend this venue to any bride!
Our wedding so beautiful because The Allan House was such a beautiful setting. Everyone we worked with was wonderful and everything came together perfectly on our big day. I'd say if you're looking for a gorgeous outdoor space that can hold about 150 people or less, definitely check out The Allan House. We were so happy with our decision, and our guests are still talking about the venue over am month later.
The Allan House was a dream venue for our wedding. From the people we worked with to the actual building itself. We loved the ability to make the space our own, but still preserve the uniqueness of the house. It was perfect space for a 100 guest wedding. Not sure how it would work for twice that size.
The Venue is beautiful, versatile and perfect for any type or size wedding. The staff is also wonderful, taking care of all the details and making the whole process very easy. A magical place in the heart of downtown Austin!
