My husband and I had our wedding here this past July. People can say what they want about the heat, but my 150 guests barely noticed, they were too busy enjoying themselves. The location is in Hilltop, so the outside isn't as "glamorous" as other places, but it's also less than 10 minutes from downtown, so we did bridal party photos there. Alex and Dalay were so accommodating, and met with us multiple times leading up to the wedding. Communication was always pretty speedy. My guests loved the decor and feel of the space, and it fit our style perfectly. They liked that the building had history to it and it was very customizable for us.
I would hate for someone to miss out on this hidden gem because of things that will be easily fixed. We had a wonderful experience and would recommend it to anyone.
Definitely give this place a chance! We are so glad we did. It’s roomy, affordable, plenty of parking. There is plenty of room for cocktail hour, a nice bar and a huge reception area. It’s truly a blank canvas. You can turn it in to whatever you want. We ended up renting our center pieces from the owner, we saved money and didn’t have store them anywhere. The only thing we were responsible for was trash at the end of the night. We could have any vendor we want. Tables and chairs were included. These chairs are typically an up charge if you try to rent them separately. The owner and her whole family bent over backwords for us. I couldn’t have asked for a better reception. Thank you!!
We recently had our wedding at The Annex and we couldn't be happier. Not only was the manager, Drew, so easy and fun to work with, but the overall staff was so sweet and helpful and was unconditionally supportive and courteous. The pricing was extremely reasonable for the area and the quality of service was amazing. I would recommend this to anyone looking to get married in Columbus and couldn't be happier with our wedding day.
The main space was pretty inside and converted from ceremony to reception quite nice. It was a beautiful ceremony. The huge downfall for me was the temperature! I do not think the AC works properly in this building. The whole entire space was very, very, hot!
The bathrooms were old and dirty and toilets and urinals (according to hubby) did not flush properly.
The outside of the building could use some work too.
I was a guest at a wedding here in July. While the space was nice in theory - there were a few issues future brides should consider. On a 90 degree day outside- the temperature inside, never reached below 83 degrees! The AC was set at 70 in a locked box- no way to lower it and once more guests started arriving it was miserable. People were using hand fans, sweating profusely, and the older guests cleared out an hour after the vows- it was just too hot & the dancing had not even started yet!
Also the location is not downtown - it’s near the Hilltop in a run down former bowling alley with an old Asian supermarket at one end of the building & a daycare at the other. The parking lot is in major need of pothole repair & there are weeds and tall grass everywhere!
It is not what I would consider “industrial decor” yes the main room has exposed ceilings but the “cocktail area/ entrance” still has the old bowling alley feel. The toilets in the bathrooms do not flush unless you hold down the handles and the bathrooms are in need of a major update!
Bridesmaids that took their shoes off to dance had dark black dirt on their feet!
I understand this venue is inexpensive but you get exactly what you pay for! After being a guest here, I would not consider this venue.
The Annex is such a beautiful place and we so cherish our wedding memories there. Staff was great and always helpful. We were able to visit many times before our wedding and talk things through with Dalay. We loved having our wedding there and all of our guests raved about it being the best wedding they had ever been to! Thanks Dalay and the whole Annex crew that made our day so special!
I don’t know how to describe how great our wedding at The Annex was. From the rehearsal to the actual event and even clean up, the staff at the Annex were amazing. The white walls, concrete floor, and exposed black beams are simple and beautiful on their own. We had minimal decor and the space looked great!
As for the owners and staff, they were so nice to work with. Andrew and Dalay were always available for questions and the day-of staff went above and beyond. They placed fresh flowers in the bridal suite, added extra floral to our wedding arch, and placed some of their own beautiful decor throughout the space.
If you are thinking about renting this space, do it! You will be so happy you did!
I’m so glad we decided to have our wedding at The Annex at 801!! Andrew and Dalay were an absolute joy to work with- professional, flexible, and generally pleasant folks. They were very up-front with all pricing and scheduling info (no sneaky hidden fees!), helpful with all the planning details, and very accommodating with our weird schedules.
The Annex is gorgeous, with all the high ceilings, exposed duct-work, and raw concrete floor that you hope for in an industrial space. They also have a great setup to customize lighting, power, etc. to suit your needs. And the venue is big enough that we had our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception of about 60 people, without a room-flip, and never once felt crowded.
I can’t recommend this venue highly enough! If you’re looking for a flexible, affordable industrial space in the Columbus area, you want The Annex at 801.
