We went for a cake tasting and decided to go with a marble cake with dulce de leche bavarian cream. When we saw it on our wedding day, we were in awe on how beautiful it looked. It was also very delicious! Yummm. I highly recommend The Baking Institute.

Our venue, Concorde Banquets, uses The Baking Institute for wedding events and found out why they work with them. Our original vision was to have a cupcake wedding cake style but the gentleman that we worked with was honest on options and how many we would need in order to accommodate our guests. He gave us cupcakes to taste and sliced cakes as well and because the taste of the marble cake with french cream and passion fruit filling was the winner! Our guests loved the cake taste and how light it was too versus how other cakes can be heavy to eat. I will definitely use them for future events if I need to order a cake.

The cake was the correct flavors and tasted good. I liked everything on the cake except for the top. The cake was included with my venue- the only thing I paid extra for was a gold drip on top, and even showed pictures of exactly how I wanted it to look- Def did not look like that. Looked like they just poured caramel over the top- it looked gross. First thing I said when I walked into the reception room was "I hate the top of the cake- looked like someone threw up on it" Very disappointing

Great to work with and my goodness the cake was delicious! Everyone complimented it!! We had a tasting appointment where they provided a book to flip through to pick a design (they were very open to any customizations or combining of different designs!) as well as try 3 different cakes (cake, filling, and frosting type). They delivered our cake to the venue and it was beautiful and delicious!

The cake we received was gorgeous and tasted delicious. Only complaints are that the cake didn't turn out exactly like our inspiration photo and the cake tasting was awful. We were only allowed to try 3 cake/icing flavors and they had less flavor than a grocery store cake (vanilla, chocolate, marble). Luckily someone had cancelled so we were able to try their flavors and the dulce de leche was excellent and the one we ended up choosing. Overall great execution on the cake, but I wish the tasting was a better experience.

Look no further! They have such a wide selection of deserts for a desert table and their cakes are incredibly delicious! Every person we worked with was so helpful and great to work with. We had a ton of food for our wedding and not a massive number of guests but, they devoured every type of desert and the cake. There was almost nothing left over. We will absolutely be using them again to cater another event.

An incredible experience!!! The whole tasting process was smooth and delicious. Filling out the form ahead of time was easy to make sure you tired what you wanted. I am also gluten free so they accommodated that as well. Our cake was absolutely amazing and all our guests loved it!

We used The Baking Institute in partnership with our venue for our 6/24/23 wedding. I don't even like cake, but after tasting this cake I could not stop eating it!!! I had so many guests tell me this is the best cake they've ever had in their lives! From the start, The Baking Institute was nothing but professional. They made the entire experience very fun for couples through the tasting experience. You get to fill out a form requesting 3 different types of cakes with whatever flavors you want for cake flavor, filling, and frosting. At the tasting, they even let you take home the cake you didn't finish eating. I brought in a photo for inspiration and they had no problem recreating it. On the actual day of the wedding, the cake looked JUST like the picture and tasted absolutely incredible. I couldn't have asked for anything more from this company! If you're looking for a stress free company to help you make your wedding cake dreams come true, then look no further! You won't regret it! (By the way, our cake was a white cake with raspberry Bavarian cream filling!)

Their cake is unbelievable. People were taking slices home for later. Our tasting was great and they NAILED the sugar flowers on our cake.

They were flexible with timing to come in and taste cakes and pick out the design. They had several samples available of what could be done with the cake. They had a lot of different cake combinations available. The cake was moist and the flavors were really good. They did a great job listening to the design we wanted but provided helpful suggestions. It came to life beautifully.

We opted for a selection of desserts instead of a cake and the Baking Institute delivered superbly. Communication was seamless, the customer service team was flexible and allowed us to make changes as needed, and the cost was affordable. Our guests were very happy campers and are still raving about the selections. Many thanks to the team at the Baking Institute!

My wedding cake was part of my package deal with my venue (Venuti's Banquets), but The Baking Institute still allowed us to come for a tasting and offered us all options, some as at an additional cost of course. To my surprise, they even asked how we wanted the cake designed. I assumed I was going to be given maybe three choices, but the woman we met with took her time and asked questions about what we might want and showed us pictures along the way. My guests raved about the cake! My mother-in-law froze our cake top as some kind of tradition, but my husband and I were a little upset we didn't have the chance to enjoy more of it! I would highly recommend The Baking Institute whether it is offered in a package deal or not! They are worth it!

Our cake was so stunning and incredible! The cake was so delicious it was eaten completely with no leftovers, which as you know for wedding cakes, is almost unheard of! Absolutely delicious and so unique and we received a ton of compliments from our guests. Thank you Baking Institute!!

Our cake was included in our package--we went in for the tasting and met with the owner. He was a funny man who knew his stuff. He helped me pick out the design of my cake keeping in mind, venue and even what my dress looked like! I ordered a half and half cake (half yellow and half chocolate) with an oreo mousse filled (which was an additional cost). The cake was absolutely delicious and so fresh. I didn't have an entire piece, but I did snag a bite from a random table. I was so happy it was fresh and some of the best cake I have ever had! The lemon, praline and carrot cake were other ones we tried and were also delicous!

Absolutely amazing. We never had a worry about our cake. We did everything through Concorde Banquets. We went to the tasting & was blown away by the quality of the cake! We did not have one person not like the cake! It was absolutely amazing. Definitely will recommend to anyone!

Our wedding reception venue had a contract with TBI which is how we found them. There is an easy online form to request a tasting and consultation. The staff member who helped us showed us many photos and was able to help us find the right fit. The wedding cake itself was attractive and tasted ok.

This company has a contract with our venue. If I’m being honest the cake tasting was terrible. The cake didn’t taste good at all. But I didn’t want to pay for a cake when it was in the package. All that aside our cake for our wedding was really good! It was designed how we wanted it to be! I wish they included more options in the price with the venue though.

We used Meridian Banquets who utilizes The Baking Institute for all of their bakery needs. They made our wedding cake exactly as requested. We got half chocolate cake with raspberry filling and half yellow cake with dulce de leche filling. The flavor was delicious and tasted so great! The cake design turned out phenomenal and they created a gorgeous and elegant design from the picture ideas we provided them (picture ideas from their website). The cake looked like a fairy tale! They were very accommodating for the cake tasting when we got sick unexpectedly and had to do an at home cake tasking. They made it easy to do a contactless pick up and did the entire thing over the phone with us. They also provided a full sweets table for dessert at our wedding and our guests were raving about the taste and expansiveness of the dessert table. I would definitely recommend The Baking Institute for any wedding!

Highly recommend!!!! They were fabulous and so easy to work with. They did such an amazing job on my wedding cake and my dessert table. They have a million different options, and everything they make is SO yummy!!! I also had them create Tiffany&Co theme treats for my bridal shower, and everyone thought they did such a great job! The Baking Institute had a relationship with our venue, the Congress Plaza Hotel, so they sort of fell into our lap. But we couldn't be happier. The tasting menu is HUGE with some amazing flavors; it was hard to choose just one. They were very thorough in their questions when I described what I wanted the cake to look like. And at the end of the day, we were blown away by the results! The sugar flowers looked real! Would highly recommend.

The wedding cake was included by the venue and we had to go with this company. During the tasting the Cake was sooooo good! We picked the marble cake with mango cream. On wedding day our cake was completely different than what we agreed to. The cake also had way more icing than what was at the tasting. The wedding cake was icing with a sid of cake. We tried to reach out to the team to understand what happened. We have not heard a response from them at all. If you book Astoria beware of the Cake company.

Bakery services with the Baking Institute was apart of my reception package with Abbington Banquets. I worked with various staff throughout my wedding coordination. My wedding cake turned out flawless. The sugar crystals (decorations) on the cake were amazing. Staff was very receptive and attentive to my feedback. Guests had nothing but high praises for her light and delicious the cake tasted. I highly recommend this company.

My daughter's wedding was at The Cotillion and they work with the Baking Institute for their wedding cakes. We made an appointment and had to select 3 different types of cakes and fillings we wanted to taste. When we got there, we couldn't believe how awesome the showroom was with the amount of cakes on display. When we tasted what they prepared for us, we couldn't decide what to order as everything was absolutely delicious. The cake my daughter chose had 6 layers. They suggested that they could replicate the lace from my daughter's wedding gown on the bottom layer of the cake.. We sent them detailed pictures and they killed it! It looked exactly like her dress. The cake was phenomenal! Absolutely gorgeous and exactly what my daughter wanted. And did I say that it tasted amazing! I would highly recommend them to every bride. You will not be disappointed.

Do not order from this bakery unless you want your order incorrect. I ordered a bridal shower cake for my niece. The order was for a white cake base with lemon filling and lemon zest. Of course when the cake was cut, it was a yellow cake base with no lemon filling. I contacted Igor, the GM immediately to discuss how to resolve this issue. First thing he wanted to do is to: " Ok let me do for you some cake education". All I need to know is that I ordered a white cake and you gave me a yellow cake. He proceeded to tell me what a beautiful job they did on the cake. I ordered a wedding cake from this company in 2016 with no issues, not sure what has happened to this company. I will not be ordering any cakes in the future from the baking institute. Beware!!!!

Brides RUN! FIND ANYONE ELSE. I do not want you to go through what I went through so I’m begging you to read. Let’s start from the beginning. We had our tasting Irog (not the nicest person in the world but oh well), the cake flavors were great. We booked the Baking Institute a year and 2 months before our wedding and everything was going great till about 6 months before the wedding we asked them to come early and they said that is not a problem at all. When I got the new contract our cake flavors went correct (maybe a simple mistake) emailed the baking institute back and they fixed the flavors and the correct time was still on the form. THE DAY OF MY WEDDING. The cake was supposed to be at my venue at 2:00pm. Not only did they NOT show up until 7:30pm they didn’t even bring the right cake. One of the flavors tasted like it was 2 weeks old, while the other flavor wasn’t even correct. The decorating of the cake was NOT what I approved of. Keep in mind I gave them 3 pictures so they couldn’t mess it up. When we first called at 2:30 they said they were an hour away. The second call said they are almost there. The third call to the 50th call NO ANSWER AND NO RESPONSE! Marie and Igor gave me excuse after stupid excuse on why my cake was 5.5 hours late, favors where wrong and the excuse of the cake decorating was “well that’s standard”. I did NOT approve “standard” PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE GO ANYWHERE ELSE. DONT EVEN CHANCE THEM RUINING YOUR SPECIAL DAY!

A wedding cake is a must, even if you aren't cake people. We would classify ourselves as not cake people, but the Baking Institute may have us reconsider! The cake was not only beautiful on the outside, but moist and delicious on the inside. We are really looking forward to our 1 year anniversary to dip into the cake topper! They worked with us during the hectic time of COVID, as we had to reschedule our special day several times.

Baking Institute was a choice from our vendor and I'm so glad we chose them compared to the others. They made cake tasting very safe with Covid happening and were able to answer all of our questions. Other cake places were so pushy and expected us to know what we wanted right off the bat even though we knew nothing about wedding cakes. The day of our wedding, the cake looked beautiful! We went with the banana rum cake and we received so many compliments!

We ordered a small version of our wedding cake from here since we had to adjust our special day this year due to the pandemic. The staff was very friendly and easy to work with. It was easy to book the order and they designed it exactly as asked! And the cake was delicious! Would definitely recommend this bakery!

I was uncertain the about of decorating that we could do for the cake, however I thought we had a lot more options then I was expecting to make a beautiful centerpiece to the venue. If I could give zero stars I would. $1,000 for a wedding cake that was the wrong color, looked nothing like the picture I submitted, and completely hideous. My wedding guests commented on how horrible the cake looked...that was so incredibly embarrassing. The wedding cake was so flimsy and leaning so badly , my venue refused to add the cake topper for fear it would fall over. When I contacted them, they offered to give me 50% back. $500 for a cake I didn’t order and that was absolutely hideous was still pretty steep to me. I asked for a full refund. What did they do? Ghosted new for 2 months. Finally I agreed to just settle for half back. They told me they’d send me a check. It’s been a month...still no check. FYI...I’m not a hard to please bride....all of my other vendors received 5 stars from me....this place was just horrible. Save time and money...go to creative cakes.

Our wedding cake was included with our venue package. When we had our cake tasting, the cakes were moist and delicious. The process was very easy and we tried four different cakes. They were so good that we couldn’t decide on one so we picked two flavors: lemon and almond with raspberry buttercream. The wedding cake was flavorful and delicious just like we remembered for our tasting appointment. I honestly wasn’t expecting much but these cakes really shine!

My husband and I had a great experience at The Baking Institute! They made the tasting run smoothly by sending us the flavors ahead of time for us to choose which flavors we wanted to taste. We forgot to look at cakes ahead of time to describe how we wanted the cake to look. Luckily, the room was decorated with cakes they have previously created. We walked around the room for inspiration. They even went though images on the iPad of previous cakes. After our tasting, we felt very confident in our choice selections. We received many compliments the night of the wedding about the cake. I highly recommend The Baking Institute to any newly engaged couples! They made the process simple and delicious!

I worked with The Baking Institute through the Glendale Lakes Golf Club for my recent wedding. They have so many choices and options that it can seem overwhelming, but they are readily available to answer any questions you may have. I chose to do a standard cake without anything extra (included in my wedding package), and the cake was absolutely beautiful. It definitely exceeded my expectations, and it tasted AMAZING. Usually people don't remember the cake at weddings, but I've definitely have had people continue to compliment it afterward. The in person meeting was amazingly quick, and I felt confident in their abilities from the very beginning. Fantastic, amazing work. I can't wait to eat our anniversary cake in a year!

Our wedding cake came out fabulous! It was included with Itasca Country Club, but only the basics, so we went with a yellow cake with chocolate buttercream, and it was delicious! We asked for a "naked cake," and after adding flowers from Aberdeen's Wedding Florist, the cake was stunning. We also ordered donuts for our donut wall, and everyone raved about them. The Baking Institute made the most beautiful cake for my wedding. My husband and I absolutely loved it! Everyone at the wedding commented on how amazing it was.

We sort of lucked out with finding The Baking Institue. They were the bakery attached to our reception contract and it was honestly the easiest wedding item we had to deal with. Our taste test was amazing and was so easy to get through. We were shown images on what designs we could pick from and what cake flavors were included and it was just so easy, and delicious. We finished every last drop of the taste test cakes and we are continuing to eat the top tier of our cake two weeks after our wedding. That is how good the cake still tastes. You will not be dissapointed in ging with them.

Heather and her staff provided me with excellent customer service! We needed two tastings for our detailed cake request and pastries and they got it right! My cake was beautiful and tasted AMAZING! The guests LOVED everything!

We learned of The Baking Institue through our venue Chandler's . We worked with Igor and he took our picture and made our cake look exactly the same. Our Cake was delicious. Thank you so much for our wonderful delicious cake .

I was very disappointed with our wedding cake. The venue we hired for our wedding covered the base cost of the cake if you use their vendor (the Baking Institute). The reviews we found were great so we went with it. To start, I made my tasting appointment a month or more ahead of time online, got an email confirmation, but the day of they said they didn't have us in their system for an appointment. They were very rude about it, but after I got upset that we drove 2 hours for it and I had the email confirmation to prove it, they let us have it any way. I had gone to some of my friends cake testings and they were fun and really made you feel special. Not this one. We wanted a more detailed design on ONE of the layers. It took at least 5 times explaining what we wanted WITH pictures to get it right. Adding fondant and a batman symbol to the one layer was an extra $276. After all that, it came out extremely amateur looking for the hassle and the extra cost - especially considering how nice some of the cakes on their site and in the reviews are.

The cake is delicious. Our wedding cake was beautiful, and I will definitely be using them for events in the future.

My husband and I did a kind of multi-theme wedding and we were very specific and particular about exactly what we wanted on our cake. The Baking Institute did awesome! They gave us exactly what we wanted without any additional questions or problems. The day of the tasting when we explained everything they immediately started drawing out a sketch and we knew we would not be disappointed with the outcome. We were still very surprised and happy at how perfectly our cake turned out. Highly HIGHLY recommend.

My vegan wedding cake was absolutely delicious!

I wish I could give it 5 stars! However a few issues arose during the process. First, for my tasting every single frosting choice I made was changed to what the baking institute felt was most popular! I wanted to taste all buttercream because I only like buttercream, my tasting came and since all of my choices were changed I was unable to taste any buttercream frostings! The only other complaint I have is that my cake was done wrong on my wedding day! The special design we chose was amazing down the back (the avengers), however the front was traditional and supposed to have all crystals on it instead of silver dots because my wedding didn’t have any silver but the cake had the standard silver dots!

The Baking Institute baked a yellow cake with lemon bavarian cream for our wedding day. So delicious!! We can't wait to enjoy the top tier on our 1 year anniversary! Thank you!

I just got married this past weekend and used the Baking Institute as the bakery for my wedding cake. When my fiance and I walked in a few months ago for our complimentary tasting Margo was our designer and the reason my rating is a 4 Star is because Margo was not very patient or helpful in deciding what we wanted. When I showed her pictures of what I wanted she always had something to complain about and no recommendations. I stood my ground and got the cake that I wanted and it turned out to be elegant and beautiful. And the cake tasted amazing! My fiance and I both got exactly what we wanted in the end.

We ordered our wedding cake from The Baking Institute as they are the bakery vendor of our wedding venue. We had communicated with Igor by email in reference to our cake design and brought in a photo of our desired image to our tasting. Igor was very courteous, kind and provided many useful suggestions!! Our fondant cake design consisted of Chicago sports team colors and their logos. The exterior fondant design could have definitely looked sharper and the colors of the exterior could have been vibrant. Instead, colors were matte, dull and most definitely not vibrant. The colors I am referring to as matte and dull are: red, black, light blue/sky blue, medium blue, navy and orange. The lines of the Chicago Cubs design were not polished and not straight and looked as if they were done by freehand. It consisted of marble (vanilla/chocolate) cake, fresh raspberries and a Bavarian cream filling. It was delicious!!!

We were beyond happy with our wedding cake from the Baking Institute for our June 2017 wedding. They are partnered with our reception venue and we had the best experience. We did not have any idea what we wanted our cake to look like. The samples were amazing and the process was incredibly straightforward. We chose a white and chocolate layered cake with chocolate buttercream. It looked and tasted incredible! We ended up switching our cake design a few weeks before the wedding and they were more than accommodating. They are extremely kind and talented. We would highly recommend The Baking Institute!!

Our wedding cake from the Baking Institute was the absolute best cake I've ever had in my life. I don't even really like cake all that much, but this cake was amazing. On the day of my wedding, it was so chaotic, but the only plate I actually finished completely was my wedding cake - it was THAT good. We did the specialty cake, the Blueberry Grand Marnier, and it was by far worth the extra money. Many of our guests commented on how good the cake was. I can't wait until my 1 year anniversary so I can have some more! I highly recommend this place.

We loved our cake! We were a bit worried at first since our venue told us this was the bakery that came with the package but it ended up being perfect! When we went to the tasting, it was so easy to schedule and they were so helpful in making the design we wanted. We decided on a mixed cake with 2 tiers a marble (which was delicious btw) and the top tier lemon. Well, they gave us 2 lemon and 1 marble which at first I was worried about but ended up being a blessing. So many guests loved the lemon with the white chocolate mousse! It was moist and just delicious. Such great flavor.

A cake from them was included in our reception package. They cake was delicious and beautiful day of! They tasting was quick and simple as well.

The package at our venue (Esplanade Lakes) included the wedding cake, which was from The Baking Institute. My (now) husband and I love sweets, and cake is my personal favorite, so I was most excited for the cake tasting. I loved everything I tried. All the flavors we chose were moist and yummy. We ended up choosing 3 different flavors, and asked our venue coordinator to please make sure we received 1 of each the night of the wedding! :) Again, come wedding day, all 3 flavors were delicious. The cake was beautiful and looked exactly as we imagined. We also had a sweets table at the wedding, but unfortunately, my hubby and I were too busy to even try anything, but everyone raved about it! We couldn't have been happier with The Baking Institute!

My cake was personally designed by my husband and it came out exactly as he designed! And it was absolutely delicious.

The Baking Institute is a true cake artist! Not only do the cakes looks great, but they taste delicious! We ordered both our groom's cake and wedding cake from The Baking Institute, and the cakes turned out amazing. We received many compliments from our guests, including "That was some good cake... I've been talking about that cake all last night." They definitely brought our vision to life!

We used the baking institute because our cake was included through our venue. We went for the cake tasting and paid extra for fresh fruit. The cake was delicious the day of the wedding; HOWEVER, the design we requested was completing wrong. We paid extra for crystals to be scattered along the cake and showed a picture to describe it. The lady helping us "drew" it out on her form. Instead of crystals, we received little colored dots and the tacky strip of crystals along the base. I tried contacting them to request a partial refund (not full because the cake tasted good) and they told me the cake was as I requested and drawn. I sent the picture the email address and they told me "Igor" would contact me; however, it has been 6 months and no word from Igor and sent a follow-up email a month later and still have not heard back. Their communication is poor and they should have requested the picture instead of drawing. If you are looking solely for taste, they are great, but if you would like your cake to be designed as requested, then choose a different vendor!
