This venue had it all! The staff was amazing and so so helpful through every step of the process. Little need for decor as this venue speaks for itself. Great options for ceremony and reception and cocktail hour. Phenomenal prices for what you are getting and plenty of parking for all. You can bring in your own vendors which is great but they also have their own to recommend as well. A real DIY situation which is great! So many photo opps and a very rustic/country feel. The venue used to be home to a blacksmith business and therefore there are cool wood structures and old historic machinery on the premise that give it a timely feel. Highly recommend!

The Barn at Aliso Viejo Ranch was a great venue! We were able to have the DIY wedding of our dreams! Most venues that advertise "bring your own vendors" have a ton of catches and make it very difficult to truly have what you envision. That is NOT the case with the AV Ranch, they are very helpful and accommodating. We had the best experience and could not recommend them more.

The Barn at Aliso Viejo Ranch is undeniably stunning and provided a gorgeous backdrop for our wedding day. However, our experience working with their staff, specifically Jessica Alvarez, was extremely challenging.
While the venue markets itself as a DIY space, they are highly restrictive, requiring the use of preferred vendors and imposing numerous rules and limitations that made planning far more stressful than it needed to be. Midway through our planning process, some rules were even changed, which felt unfair and unprofessional.
Additionally, the venue staff did not assist with the event at all, forcing us to hire an entire team to manage the setup and logistics. The limitations on when and how certain spaces could be used were frustrating and lacked flexibility, leaving us with little room to adjust to the needs of the day.
While the venue itself is beautiful and contributed to a great overall wedding day, it came at a much higher cost—both financially and emotionally—than we initially anticipated. If you choose to book here, be prepared for significant extra expenses and to handle much of the planning and coordination on your own.

ges in hosting your event with us. As you mention, we are a full DIY-style facility, which allows couples to have a unique experience in hosting their special day with us. While we do require a preferred vendor to be used for any alcohol and DJ services, we have curated a list of 9 different caterers that can provide alcohol services and 10 different DJs who can provide services for events, to allow for some flexibility with those services. While we have a comprehensive list of other preferred vendors/caterers for other event services, we regularly see non-preferred vendors helping with those other event services, who are asked to provide their insurance details for us to review and approve. The standard insurance requirements are outlined in the original reservation request form for transparency, as well as the confirmation email once the booking is officially secured.
In reviewing the timeline of the booking, we aren't noticing any policy changes, however, when the Bunkhouse was added to the reservation, it was subject to the new pricing that had gone into effect. That new price change and the date of its enactment were communicated prior to the booking of that space about the date of changing rates. An email was sent to all booked clients about the rate increases a month and a half before those went into effect to provide everyone ample time to assess their event needs and add on any additional time/spaces while those old rates were still in effect, and an additional courtesy reminder email was also sent out one week prior to those rate increases. Unfortunately, your request to add the Bunkhouse to the reservation was made over two months after those new rates went into effect, so that addition was subject to the new rates.
On the day of events, all involved parties are also responsible for the setup and breakdown of their respective equipment/decor. Leading into the event date, our team had a few conversations with a few folks helping to plan your event about the use of our equipment, specifically with the use of the different chair styles that we have. Use of the facility's tables/chairs are included with the cost of the rental, however, with the request and preference to only use the wooden fruitwood chairs that our venue has, comes the physical limitation of the 200 of those that we have. With how critical timelines are for wedding events, the time needed to break down all those chairs from a ceremony and move those to the other side of the event space isn't feasible and could lead to delays in the event, which is the last thing that we would want to have happen. As an offered solution and regular occurrence for larger events, we recommended to either supplement our other white banquet style chairs for either the ceremony or reception (where we have 300 total of these white banquet chairs, included with the cost of the rental already); or, with your preference to have only the wooden fruitwood chairs used for the event, we also offered the idea to rent the same style chairs from an outside vendor. While we understand that the second option comes at an extra cost for you with the outside vendor, we can only make use of the equipment we have already at the facility.
With how we book events at the facility, spaces are parceled out to be different reservable areas, which are charged by the hour. Details on this are also provided in advance in the rental agreement and also discussed during initial tours of the facility. If there is ever additional time needed for a certain space/spaces, we are happy to add that on if they are available, it would just be subject to the hourly rates for the space(s).

The Aliso Viejo Ranch was the venue of our dreams! Andrew and all of the other staff were extremely helpful during the entire planning process. They are very responsive. They have great vendors to recommend and the space is beautiful. It was a great amount of space for our wedding of 125 guests. 10 stars for the Aliso Viejo Ranch!

The team here is amazing! From the first email to all communication through out the planning, they were on top of it! I will share that as a past Client, beware that the venue itself (due to the city requirements) does require a lot from your vendors, but the team will help walk you through it all (& having an outside coordinator will help!)
I threw an event here to celebrate 10 years of my photography business with over 100 clients coming to celebrate and this was the perfect venue to do so. Not only was the team great with communication, but they already have all the tables and chairs (plus in house linen rental for the tables) which helped with one less vendors. The option of using partial barn and using the patio was perfect for my vision and guests where able to easily move from inside and out. They set up everything of theirs up and then it is a perfect venue for everything else that you want to DIY!
The day of the event went so smooth and so many of the guests were amazed at how beautiful the venue was and some clients (who are current and past wedding couples) teased that they wish they booked this venue as their venue. As a past bride myself, I wish this venue was around 5 years ago, so I could have had my wedding here, too!
Whether you are planning a wedding or any type of event, this venue is IT!! Book the tour and then book them for it! It will be worth it!! :)

My business Partner Jessica and I @perfcetpair_events had our first experience coordinating at AV Ranch this past weekend. It was raining on and off. Our bride wanted so badly to have her ceramony outside and though that did not work out, Jessica and her staff made indoors work like a charm. With so many last minute changes, Jessica and the rest of the staff, where so accommodating. Thank you for all the help and all your patience on such a rainy Day,we hope to bring some of our brides back to Aliso Viejo Ranch.

Aliso Viejo Ranch is such a lovely and unique event venue, with a great team of people to work with! I coordinated a big engagement party there a few weekends ago, and everything went off without a hitch! We utilized the Western Patio, which was perfect for all our event needs—plenty of outdoor space for almost 200 guests, a taco stand, two bar set-ups, a churro truck (parked in the loading zone of the parking lot)—and of course the gorgeous rustic ranch feel was a nice complement to it all. Andrew, Nick, Jessica and the rest of the AVR team all helped make the planning process so seamless, which made the day-of coordination that much smoother all day/night! Thank you Aliso Viejo Ranch, will definitely be recommending you for future clients in need of a unique space for their special event!

Nick, Andrew, and the rest of the staff at AVR were amazing. My wife and I got married there a few weeks ago and we had an incredible experience. We're grateful for their quick responses, availability, and support both leading up to and on our big day. The staff was respectful towards our families and our wedding planner, and we got more compliments than I can count about how beautiful the venue was. The Barn at Aliso Viejo Ranch is a hidden gem in southern Orange County. Not only is this venue a newly renovated facility, it is a pay per hour venue, allowing you flexibility if you are a bride looking for a little extra savings. The venue is beautiful on its own, with outdoor lighting, greenery, wood details, and of course the red barn! We chose to do the ceremony in front of the barn and the reception outside on the Western Patio. You can also rent the inside of the barn, which was reassuring for us to have a backup in case it rained on the day of our wedding. You are able to bring in your own vendors which is also a great way to save money, and make sure the food and other vendors are unique to you! They only require you to use one of their preferred vendors for alcohol, which made sense to me and the company we went with was amazing. Nick and Andrew helped me from the beginning. Andrew led me and my husband through a tour of the venue and answered any questions we had. Their communication was excellent and they were always quick to respond. This made the process much more stress free because they were there to help the whole time. The venue also provides chairs and tables for the ceremony, reception, and cocktail hour, which they set up for you on the day of your wedding. I am so thankful we chose this venue for our wedding and managed to secure a date! We were able to achieve our dream wedding within our budget. I can’t recommend this venue enough!

Incredible venue and incredible people! Super responsive! Thorough in answering all our questions! All-around incredible service. We were nervous about having enough ice and they went ahead and filled a whole cooler with ice for us before our reservation even started! We toured the venue when there was still open construction and I forgot close-toed shoes (required). Andrew (coordinator) even offered for me to borrow a pair of his! Andrew and the other staff are professional and kind! Great to work with!
The venue itself is beautiful and hipster! VERY well taken care of! It has lots of little areas with greenery, trees, rustic barns, and desert cacti -- great for a variety of photos!
The pricing can vary a lot because everything is a-la-carte. There were a few things we had to pay that we weren't expecting, but they all made sense. I didn't get too frustrated because I knew they just had policies they had to follow. And I knew that we were getting a great deal!
Bonus! Chairs and tables are included! And so is their setup! So great! They just charge for linens (but they also put those on for you).
We had a taco man provide the food. It was about $10 per person, + like $50 for an OCFA permit. Going with this kind of venue (one that allows outside vendors) is a GREAT way to stay within your budget. Ours was $10,000 for 150 people and we ended up being under that. Choosing this venue really made that possible!

This is going to be a bit long, but if you are going to plan a wedding and want to use this place, I promise you this is worth the read.
Let us just start off with the positive, because I believe there is no such thing as 1 star service if you haven't even opened yet.
The facility is beautiful, and would be an amazing place to have a wedding. When I walked it in February, I knew this was the place that I wanted to get married. The staff at the time was very easy to work with, very helpful, and overall made me feel like it was safe to start telling people this was the place and to move forward from here.
Fast forward a few weeks, and red flags just start popping up left and right. I will not get into every little detail, but I will give you the important ones.
They send my fiancé and I the price sheet, it is very nice has multiple price ranges that we can work around, we go over everything including food options and find what we feel will fit our party the best. With 150+ people we want to make sure everything is good moving forward so nothing falls through the cracks. Here comes red flag number 1, called them a few times to try and get a bit more info to send them the reservation sheet, and was hung up on more than once, calling is a nightmare. Ok so maybe they were flooded or the calls kept getting "disconnected", so we finally get someone, through email and they tell us to send the sheet minus the CC info so they can start the reservation process and when we square it away we will give our payment.
Now the contract includes we have to pay for security (when touring the location we were assured security was included in the price), ok fine no reason to lose our dream spot over a few hundred dollars. Here comes the next email, now it is a requirement to have a 3 hour setup time, which before it was not stated there was minimum time for setup. This was the big red flag, everything continues to change and no matter what was written or said before, they just come back with "this is our policy."
The funniest and saddest part of all of this is the response we got that said "we have learned from previous events that we need to do these specific things to make sure your event goes off without a hitch", yet they have not even put on 1 event at this facility.
From beginning to end the venue cost alone was raised 25% from touring to us pulling out. I would have been more than happy to pay the asking price + security, but who is to say now after they continue to change things that they wont change something else in the process and continue to hold our wedding captive if we do not do so.
To anyone reading this, I just ask you beware before you fall in love with the place. They know what they have, they understand the desire to want to have a wedding there, but they have proven a few times to us that they do not actually care about their clientele. No one is to say they wont change, but after reading a few reviews now of people who have similar issues, I can see this is a trending pattern and trying to talk to them about it is just a waste of time. Your wedding is one of the most important days of your life, don't let shrewd people ruin it.

to connect with you to discuss your concerns. I have reached out and haven’t heard back from you however, I wanted to touch upon your concerns here. First, we apologize that there were some challenges reaching us by phone. As you mentioned, our site is still under construction and not open to the public, so these types of hiccups are expected. Our IT department has been diligently working to get our infrastructure and phone lines working properly.
The information regarding security services is listed on the reservation request form which was initialed, signed, and submitted by you. 3 hours of setup time is required for all weddings which is also indicated on the reservation form. This is with the client in mind; our staff will not setup the tables and chairs outside of the agreed upon setup time. 3 hours helps prevent someone’s intimate ceremony or reception being interrupted by vendors and setup including during your vows . We understand how important this day is for our clients and want to make sure that it goes off without a hitch! Also, our contract clearly lists the requirements of our facility as we are booked by the hour. This allows flexibility for our clients to build a custom package that is both cost-conscious and fits their needs. Our prices are very comparable to the surrounding areas, if not, more competitive. We are a new facility, and have not opened to the public which is also another high point of our venue- everything is pristine and brand new. I really wanted this to be our wedding venue. The initial price was within our budget and we started contacting additional vendors from the venue’s preferred list. After a month of going back and forth with the barn, several contradictions on their end, and price changes (that doubled our initial quote), we decided to move on. This is a beautiful venue but I do not think they are ready to host a wedding anytime soon.
