About this vendor
After four generations in the same family, The Barn at Back Acres Farm is finding new purpose and meaning as a wedding and event venue since 2018. Our venue offers an indoor reception space in the barn with seating for up to 200, your choice of outdoor ceremony sites, spacious grounds with serene views for guests to enjoy, and many amenities.
We began this venture motivated by a desire to have personalized, meaningful weddings in our own family—and our farm was the only place where we could make that happen. We want others to have this opportunity too because we know firsthand what it takes to create the kind of wedding you want to have—and that it's worth the time, money, and effort you put into it when you choose the right place.
We can't wait to see your story begin at The Barn.

The staff is so helpful and kind! They made our wedding day so much easier!
I grew up down the road from the Barn at Back Acres Farm and have dreamt of getting married there since I was a little girl. Mary Beth and her team made sure all my dreams came true!! The venue is elegant, whimsical and just straight up beautiful. Her team is available to ensure everything during the day runs smoothly. Mary Beth is also extremely quick in answering emails, texts, calls, ect.! Her communication from the time we asked to tour the venue, to the entire year and a half leading up to our wedding and especially the week before was incredible. They also include a decor closet, where you can borrow any of their decorations for use on the day of, and a planning guide which includes hundreds of tips and tricks for your big day – all for free. Their website is easy to use and has transparency of pricing and exclusive vendors (the only exclusive vendors are catering and bar) that I found was extremely hard to find on most venue sites.
There is a bridal suite onsite with two separate rooms, a bathroom and a mini fridge to keep breakfast/lunch/snacks/drinks cold. I had six girls in my wedding party, my mother-in-law, two flower girls and two ring bearers, plus a professional hair and make-up artist and not once did we feel like we needed more space.
We also got married onsite and the wedding site was absolutely stunning! The team had everything set up for us and ready to go on the day of.
The most important part for me was that our dogs got to be a part of our day at this venue (they both walked down the aisle)!! I couldn't have asked for a better venue and I couldn't have imagined getting married anywhere else!!
Beautiful venue, but the owner lingers and is rude to guests attempting to have wedding photos taken. Very uncomfortable, do not recommend.
From the start MaryBeth was very unpleasant to work with. She was not polite, kind, or responsive as you would expect for such a happy occasion. We felt as if we were bothering her with every phone call and question. The property is very beautiful and an amazing venue, but dealing with MaryBeth ruined the experience of having our wedding at The Barn. When we came by the day before for rehearsal and to finalize the floor plan, she was very rude, cold, and was not helpful. When we asked her questions for her opinion about where to place things for the floor plan, she would respond, “I don’t care, it’s your wedding.” When we were still at the venue discussing some logistics, she left and went into the house and did not even say goodbye or ask if we needed anything else. We were not aware MaryBeth was not going to be in attendance to coordinate on the day of the wedding until the actual day of the wedding. We met the coordinator the day of the wedding. MaryBeth states the Barn can hold 200 guests, but at 130 people we were extremely crowded. We had Harry Potter style seating with 4 long rows of tables and there was no space in between the tables, even though she stated that by math properties, the long tables would fit much better than round because the barn is rectangle. The waitresses could not serve people appropriately because of the set up. We made the itinerary and floor plan ahead of time, but she kept asking questions about things that we had already answered. She did not have the itinerary or floor plan printed out for all parties to be on the same page. The Barn did not have industrial fans, only a few small white household fans for a venue without air conditioning. There was a lot of confusion about the linens for the tables. The new coordinator that we met the day of the wedding asked us to set up the linens ourselves. She stated she was not responsible for setting up the linens. The florist needed to set up the flowers on the tables and if we had not set up the linens ourselves, there would not have been linen on the tables. Then at the end of the evening, the coordinator asked what we were doing with the linens and when we were going to take them off the tables. We think that the bride and groom, their family, or friends should not be responsible for setting up and/or taking down linens. The next day, we could not find the brides bouquet, so we texted MaryBeth to see if by chance she saw it left behind. She stated that everything was discarded and how would she know it was the bride’s bouquet. There was only 2 bridesmaids and the bride, so a total of 3 bouquets, so not a challenge to see if there was a bouquet left behind. She stated she would look through the garbage after her showings, but never responded. For being in the wedding industry dealing with one of the happiest days of people’s lives, MaryBeth makes the whole process during planning and coordinating a miserable experience. She does not seem happy to be in the business of weddings. If you really have your heart set on the Barn as your venue, just be aware the experience will come with a cost of your patience and happiness. You sign a contract with her and put a deposit, then you realize what a challenge she is going to be to deal with and that you will lose your deposit if you want to back out. For the amount of money you pay for the Barn, there was a lot to be desired for the experience and amenities.
MaryBeth and her staff are unbelievable!!! From day one of the planning process they were there to help. It was truly a magical day and would not have wanted to celebrate anywhere else. All night people stopped to tell us how perfect everything was. Thank you to everyone at The Barn at Back Acres Farm. It will truly be a day that we will never forget.
We were married here in October 2019 and it was more than we could have asked for. The place is absolutely stunning and the owner/staff is unlike any you’ll find somewhere else. The owner kept in close contact through the year long planning process and provided so many helpful tools. They literally take the guess work out of it and to any stressed out bride, that is priceless. The venue itself is absolutely affordable and what comes with booking makes it even more worth while. The day of our wedding was a mess (literally rained all day) but you wouldn’t have known there was anything wrong by the way the team took care of not only my husband and I, but most importantly our guests. The compliments we received even weeks after our wedding warmed our hearts and made us proud that we chose this venue. Do yourself a favor and book it.
We are still getting compliments of our choice in venue! We had such an amazing time and the space was absolutely beautiful! We had a guest count up to 200 and everyone was taken care of so well! We had our ceremony outside and the reception in the barn! I work in the wedding industry also and am very pleased with our experience!
We had our wedding at this venue and it couldn't have been more perfect! The venue itself is gorgeous and romantic. The owners, Mary Beth and her family, are very accomodating and helpful! This venue is very charming and I highly recommend getting married here!

We had a great experience with the Barn at Back Acres. It was a great value compared to the other 5 barns and outdoor venues we looked at. Mary Beth was very accommodating and hospitable. The Barn offers a lot of complimentary decorations such as wine barrels, an arbor, and antique chests.
A big plus was the new bathrooms on the first floor of the barn. The other barn venues we visited required rental porta potties.
There are several locations for your ceremony site and seating options (hay bails, wooden chairs, wooden planks).
If you're looking for a barn wedding venue at a great value, we'd highly recommend the Barn at Back Acres.
We absolutely loved the Barn at Back Acres Farm for our wedding in July 2018. We highly recommend this venue for a wedding and think it would work great also for other special events (family reunions, corporate outings etc.). We received comments the whole night from guests on what a beautiful, unique, venue we had chosen.
Mary Beth and her team are great to work with and helped us to make this the unforgettable day we hoped it would be. During the planning process, Mary Beth was always very responsive and quick to offer additional advice when needed. They did everything from helping with setup, praying to the weather gods, to lighting the bonfires at night. Overall, you will find a very professional, dedicated and flexible team working at this venue.
The Barn is a 17 - 19 minute drive from Lake Geneva where most of our guests were staying. We worked with a shuttle bus but even had some guests order Ubers without a problem.
The venue is great for outdoor activities for your guests and offers the indoor fallback option in case of rain. We had about 75 guests seated inside the barn, a dance floor, bar, DJ etc. and the setup fit comfortably. The beautiful grounds also give you several options for a ceremony and pictures. For large parties you may consider a tent as well.
This venue was so much magic!! I attended a wedding here as a guest and honestly have never been more charmed. The setting was idyllic, the venue held a lot of people while still feeling intimate and there were seemingly unending small pockets for zoned experiences like roasting marshmallows to a separate space for the ceremony to an ice cream sandwich cart. The wedding is now legendary in our friend group - and in no small part to the venue providing so much ambiance and personality!
One of the best weddings I have ever attended took place at this barn! The wedding ceremony was at sunset between two huge trees. The lighting was breathtaking and the whole scene was incredibly romantic. After the ceremony the barn was the perfect place to eat, celebrate & dance! The barn was charming and rustic, but still had the comforts of home. Some friends and I camped out in the yard. I appreciated this fun and affordable option for guests. I would highly recommend this venue for a wedding and wish it was available when I got married!
