The Barn at Smugglers' Notch is a purpose built wedding venue minutes from the lifts at Stowe and Smugglers' Notch ski resorts. Our privileged location affords the best views of Mt Mansfield and the Green Mountains. We are a 4 season resort, with lush lawns, acres of wildflower and gardens with stunning mountain views in the background.
"The Barn" is the owners' vision of a modern wedding venue disguised as a barn. The Barn suits the vernacular of beautiful mountain surrounding, yet has the comforts required for a successful wedding event for today's modern bride.
Amenities include an elegant bridal site, covered patio lounge over looking the lush lawns and mountains, professional commercial kitchen on site, plenty of beautiful bathrooms, custom built timber constructed bar, original works of art, custom built beautiful farm tables, elegant lighting and many unique architectural features. There is also a house sound system that can play indoor and / or outdoors.
A main feature of our vision was an open floor plan flooded with natural light. Our vision was a bright, cheerful space with lot's of glass to enjoy the sun as well as the views of the surrounding mountains. To brighten the space further, we chose a light color palette of white-washed and natural wood tones. The perfect blank canvas for you to provide your own personal touch to.
The outdoor spaces become a large part of our events. Guests from around the world come to our venue to take in the beautiful surroundings. With the indoor and outdoor spaces designed by our artist owner, photo ops are plenty. The great lawn is flat and perfected for lawn games or the addition of tented space. The covered patio lounge enables your guests to enjoy the great outdoors and our stunning surroundings even when it is raining. We can set up an outside bar for you as well as an appetizer station and passed appetizers. We have a house music system that can play outside and often there is live music outside for cocktail hour. There have also been couples that utilized The Great Lawn for their first dance location!
Our mission is to provide a stress free and seamless experience. To that end, we provide day of coordination services for your event. Owners are on site at every event and are passionate about making your event fabulous and memorable. We are destination wedding experts with many trusted preferred vendors to assist with creating your perfect wedding event.

The morning of the wedding my bridal party and I got ready at the venue, and there was plenty of space for all 8 of us and the hair & makeup team. The bridal suite is beautiful as well :) Their partner cater, Sugarsnap was excellent. They offer different options for dinner service, buffet, family style or plated. We went with plated and the food itself was excellent and the service was seamless. The location was very convenient for our traveling guests, we had a room block at two nearby resorts. Smugglers Notch Resort and Sterling Ridge which are both within 10 minutes of the venue. Overall, I’m so glad we chose the Barn at Smuggs for our venue. Would definitely recommend!!

Growing up in Vermont, it meant so much to us to say our vows in front of Mount Mansfield, and the view from The Barn is absolutely breathtaking. Our guests were blown away by the venue and by the professionalism of every staff member. We received so many compliments about how organized the day was, all thanks to Jamie, Jenn, and Steve. Several guests even told us it was the most beautiful venue they had ever visited. Throughout the planning process, The Barn team communicated clearly and guided us through multiple meetings to map out every detail. Their recommended vendors—florist, photographer, and makeup artist—were all fantastic. We also appreciated their suggestions for lodging and activities in the Jeffersonville/Stowe area. We highly recommend booking The Barn at Smuggler’s Notch as your wedding venue. Our wedding day was truly the best day of our lives, and we are so grateful for the care and effort The Barn put into making our fairytale day a reality.

Jamie was amazing from start to finish — she kept us on track, answered every question, and made the whole process feel easy. On the day of the wedding, she, Steve, and Jenn handled every detail so we could simply relax and soak in the moment. The entire day was seamless, beautifully decorated, and filled with joy.
Our guests were in awe of how beautiful everything was. We can’t imagine a better place or a kinder team to trust with such an important day. We’ll be forever grateful for how special they made it!

She guided us through every detail, and we genuinely couldn’t have had such a wonderful day without her and the amazing team behind her.
We’re originally from the Northeast but currently live in California, so planning from out of state was daunting at first. But Jamie was beyond accommodating—hopping on 8 PM EST calls so we could chat after work on the West Coast. That level of flexibility and care made all the difference.
The venue itself is absolutely stunning. The Sugar Snap team? FANTASTIC. Our guests raved about the food—every bite was delicious.
Getting ready at the venue in the morning was such a special experience. The flow of the day was seamless, and staying onsite made everything so much easier. One of my favorite memories was peeking out from the upstairs windows with my bridesmaids, watching our guests arrive and get seated. It was such a precious moment.
I also did a first look in the bridal suite with my dad, brother, and grandparents—it was everything I hoped it would be. The bridal suite is a 10/10. My seven bridesmaids and I had plenty of space and the best time getting ready together.

It was clear that the entire staff are true professionals who genuinely care about making your day as special and easy as possible.
The food, provided by Sugarsnap, was also phenomenal—we received so many compliments from our guests. Everything was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious.

he barn itself was also beautiful and the perfect setting for a celebration. We loved the open space and having the doors open during our dinner to continue taking in the sights all night. The dance area was able to accommodate our band and a dance floor filled with guests for hours. Jamie, the coordinator, was a huge help in developing the timeline of events, communicating with vendors, and making sure the whole day ran smoothly from start to finish. Second, the entire team at The Barn including Jenn, Steve and Jamie were nothing but a pleasure to work with. I’ve never met someone who was so responsive via email than Steve - it made planning the wedding much less stressful knowing that he would get back to us ASAP with any questions we had. Jenn really made us feel like she truly cared about our wedding and us having the best day - she’s the most personable person and it felt like I had known her forever. On the day of the actual wedding, Jamie was awesome in making sure everything went as planned and was always there asking us if we needed a drink or anything else. Jenn and Steve were always available throughout the wedding planning process and flexible to everything we asked for before the big day. My husband loves local beers from breweries in Vermont and Steve made sure to have all of his favorite options ready for the day! Our signature cocktails were also a big hit! On the day of the wedding, everything was seamless and smooth. Jenn, Steve and Jamie made sure everything was perfect and we never had to worry about a thing! The space is absolutely stunning and our guests had so many compliments between the wild flowers outside, views of the mountain, outdoor patio area and every part of the beautiful indoor of the barn. d sight unseen as we live in MA. There is not a single thing you will be disappointed with from the second you sign a contract to the day after your wedding-- so feel free to finish reading the review, but you will not regret choosing to have your wedding here.
Jenn and Steve are incredibly organized, respond immediately, are flexible, kind, friendly and make you feel like you are their ONLY bride and groom the entire time you are planning (and oftentimes, you may 1 of 4 couples having a wedding on a given week). I found wedding planning to be especially stressful (financial + amount of work it entails), quickly learned how easy Jenn and Steve make it.
While you have to bring in some of your own vendors (flowers, music, chairs, some linens, dessert/cake, photo/video), they provided us a list of AWESOME vendors who have been vetted and already worked with the Barn. All vendors were fabulous (Jess Cronin Cakes, Silver Arrow Band, Todd Stoilov Photo/Video, June Farm (flowers) and Edelweiss). Jenn & Steve have an in house caterer, which helped not have to make that decision. We still have people talking about how exceptional the food at our wedding was.
Jenn runs the show day-of and you would think she had been doing this since she was a kid. She is calm, collected and makes sure the day you've planned out goes exactly as you've wished.
We lucked out with weather that day. It rained all morning and then the skies opened up for us to have the wedding outside (the barn has an easy option for an indoor ceremony if it does!). The mountains are your back drop and if you are also lucky (like us and a few other couples we've seen married this year) you'll have an epic sunset to cap off the evening.
We drove out of Stowe on Sunday night thrilled about EVERY SINGLE THING: FOOD, ceremony, flowers, drinks (do a fun custom drink!), cake, band, tables, decorations (Jenn & her team do this), entire Barn staff & kitchen staff. Jenn made sure everyone knew where to be and when, and when we lined up for the processional she handled telling everyone when to start walking in coordination with the dj and officiant. It could not have gone any better!

They were the most responsive (literally would email us back within minutes of contacting them) vendor we worked with throughout the wedding planning process which was VERY helpful. We planned the entire wedding from Denver, CO. But it was like we were planning it from Vermont because of how easy Jenn & Steve are to work with. The barn, the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. Spotless, open, bright, gorgeous farm tables with stunning wooden chairs, the most amazing bridal suit to get ready in ( we had myself, 9 bridesmaids, 2 mothers plus 5 makeup/hair vendors and we all fit completely comfortable), 5 bathroom stalls, large dance floor...I could go on & on. As for the outside, we were fortunate enough to have our ceremony outside. Magical. It was the most beautiful backdrop overlooking the green mountains. They have a large patio with comfortable furniture, a tent, outside bar, lawn games and even a giant wooden "LOVE" sign that was a hit for our guests photos! I truly cannot thank Steve & Jenn enough for being the most amazing owners of the barn. They answered every single question I had, were honest & transparent with us, let us visit when we wanted to finally see the barn after booking it. The rehearsal took place at the barn, they had the bar open for us which made it very fun and relaxing. Jenn is a FLAWLESS day of coordinator. Literally EVERYTHING was on time..I mean EVERYTHING & we even had to adjust our photo time because of a rain storm & it still all worked out perfectly. The day after the wedding- my family & I arrived around 11 am to gather our leftover belongings, gifts etc. They had packed up all 60+ of our vases, all my photos, florals..everything. It was so helpful. I can't thank them enough for making the biggest part of the wedding process (finding the perfect venue) a piece of cake. They go above and beyond for their couples and I would choose this venue over & over again. We love you Jenn & Steve!

iews. Stunning bridal suite. Plenty of space. That is why we originally selected it as our wedding venue. What we didn't know at the time is that we were hiring some of the best wedding professionals in the business - the dynamic duo of Steve & Jenn. I am not exaggerating when I say I'd get married pretty much anywhere as long as they were running the show.
Let me start with how incredibly responsive they were. As a wedding vendor also, this is something I greatly appreciate. I would ask a question and get a response usually within 10 minutes.
Jenn & Steve made everything pretty effortless for us. Steve helped us with bar selections, table lay out and set up specialty cocktails. Jenn coordinated with all of our vendors for arrival times, set up and take down. We were able to drop off all of our decor on a Wednesday and Jenn had it all set up when we came Friday for our rehearsal. What a special treat for our bridal party and close family to be able to preview the venue with the majority of the decor set up.
A review of our wedding day: we had downpours in the morning and in to the afternoon. The team at the Barn set up for an indoor ceremony just in case. Our ceremony was at 4:30pm and downpours came again at 4:15. As I (the bride) was coming down the stairs the clouds parted and I gave the nod to have the ceremony outside - probably right at 4:30pm. Jenn had the team dry off chairs outside not once, but twice after 4pm and we were able to have our ceremony outside, just as we had envisioned. I doubt you will find this level of flexibility anywhere else where you can literally make the call at the very last minute - it meant everything to us to be able to get married with the mountains in the background. The rest of the night was absolutely flawless. Steve made sure to bring us cocktails during dinner, Jenn brought us an array of apps so we could enjoy our cocktail hour while photos were being taken. I had no idea what time it was all throughout the night, but Jenn made sure things were executed on time. She clearly is a professional and seems so chill but is also so organized and direct when she needs to be.
The Barn is no doubt the best place to get married in Vermont. I wish I could do it all over again - every moment was absolutely magical. Thanks Steve & Jenn for our perfect day - look forward to working with you both as a wedding vendor and getting to visit the place we got married often.

Kristin, the catering manager, is so wonderful to work with and helps with every little detail. She greets you with a smile every time you meet, and is genuinely excited for every couple she works with. Not to mention the food, which was outstanding - guests continue to give our end of summer BBQ theme rave reviews!
