The Barn at the Ackerhurst Dairy Farm

My daughter was married at the Barn on July 20, 2024. The original plan was to have an outdoor wedding, but on the Tuesday before the Saturday ceremony, due to the weather forecast, we had to flip it and move to have the ceremony indoors. I think it was more beautiful indoors than it would have been outdoors. We worked with Dee at the Barn and she was wonderful, amazing, excellent!! She was very easy to work with, returned phone calls or texts almost immediately, easy to contact, extremely helpful and accommodating. After the ceremony on the 2nd floor we all moved downstairs for the cocktail hour while the Barn staff flipped the 2nd floor from ceremony set up to reception set up. We would have never known it happened. Everything ran so smoothly. Dee took care of everything! We brought in so much stuff in preparation and she helped go through it and moved items to where they needed to be for the caterers or the bartenders, or wherever else they needed to go. She kept track of everything and nothing was lost. I would also highly, highly recommend using the vendors on the vendor list provided by the venue. They all had been to the venue many times before and were well versed in everything they needed to do. We hardly knew any of them were there and setting up. We used A Catered Affair for the catering, Image Entertainment for the DJ, and Fancy Plants Flowers & Design for the flowers. They were all amazing! We received so many compliments about how good the food was, how beautiful the venue was, and how beautifully it was decorated. The dance floor was always full. Karen at Fancy Plants sat down with my daughter and myself and really tried to understand my daughter’s vision and make it come to life. She took care of 90% or more of the decorating and repurposed so many of the flowers from the ceremony to the reception. It was fantastic! I would highly recommend the venue and every single vendor we used. The day was beautiful, amazing, exciting, and so much fun! It was also STRESS FREE due to everyone knowing what to do, where to go, and how to set up. I can’t say enough about all of them and the amazing day!

The Barn was the perfect place for our daughter's wedding. The venue is beautiful, unique and versatile given the many different spaces inside and out. Our guests were quite impressed and had a great experience. Also, the event management team provided excellent support and guidance along the way and a truly stress free day of event support from start to finish. We highly recommend the Barn.

This was our dream venue and we couldn’t have chosen a better place to get married and celebrate. Dee was our coordinator and was no-nonsense and ran the day like a clock. I had absolute faith that she would make sure things worked out and she did amazing. The venue itself is the most beautiful and we got so many compliments. We had hoped to have the ceremony outside and ended up moving inside due to the weather. One of the reasons we chose the barn was because of the beautiful option for an indoor ceremony in the loft and it did not disappoint. We had approximately 140 guests and the space felt filled but not crowded.

This venue is a truly gorgeous location, and we were so glad to be able to have our wedding here! Everything was stunningly beautiful, and we got tons of compliments on how good everything looked. One small downside though was working with the staff throughout the later stages of planning the wedding. We’ve obviously never planned a wedding before, and when we went over everything with them at the final consultation, they seemed a little mad and annoyed that we didn’t have all the answers to questions that we hadn’t even thought of before and didn’t realize that they were going to ask. We needed to use the loft for the reception because we had too many people attending (250 guests) to put them all on the main level. During dinner and all the formal activities (cake cutting, first dances, etc.) they felt a little bit removed from all the festivities being so far away. Once the dancing started and everyone was up and moving around, it didn’t make that much of a difference, but that was something we weren’t aware of going in. We feel like they weren’t completely transparent on the costs of everything either. After paying 6 $1,000 deposits to the barn over the year and a half before the wedding, the week of the wedding, we were shocked to get the final invoice and see that we still owed almost $10,000 to them! Keep your receipts of any deposits you pay as well, because they didn’t go far back enough in their payment history, and if we hadn’t kept our records, they would’ve cheated us out of 1 of our $1,000 deposits. With the alcohol package, they include everybody over the age of 4 as a “person,” which to me seems absolutely ridiculous. I get that they wouldn’t have any way to verify how many people are drinking, but we ended up paying for alcohol for over 40 people at our wedding who were under the age of 21. That ended up being an additional $800 that we paid for people who legally aren’t old enough to drink. Everything did go smoothly on the day of the wedding, and we are still very happy that we had our wedding here, but the service left a little bit to be desired.
