We worked with Jenny, and she made the whole process so easy and was willing to meet with us until I was certain about what I wanted. The Battle House had several different locations available and easily housed my entire wedding weekend! The food was amazing, the bar was exactly what we wanted, and we received so many compliments! I cannot recommend the Battle House enough!!!!
We booked a room at the Battlehouse for our wedding night since we were not leaving for a honeymoon right away and our wedding venue was not far from there. Being local I have been to The Battlehouse many times to the spa, the restaurants and stayed a couple of times overnight. It was always a great experience; I had no hesitation about planning to spend our wedding night there.
When we arrived in a limo around 9:30 PM there were no doormen or bellhops at the main entrance, our limo driver was kind enough to help us inside with our bags as we were still in full wedding attire so I could barely keep up with my dress. Once inside, the lobby was blocked off and there was no one around. There was a sign saying there was renovation going on, but no directions as to where to go to check in. After walking around for 10 minutes we saw a security guard and asked where check in was, I practically had to beg the man to point us in the right direction. Once we finally found the alternate check in desk it seems our room was not cleaned (9:30 PM) and the receptionist was going to have to put us in a queen room instead of the king room we booked. Again, I'M STANDING RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER IN MY WEDDING DRESS! My husband spoke up and said no, and i then mentioned it was our wedding night. At that point she said she could put us in a suite instead of a queen room. Once we got our keys, my husband asked her if the mini bar in the suite was stocked, we were told there is no mini bar in the suite. So, he asked if she could have room service bring us some soft drinks, waters and a bottle of champagne. We were told room service was closed for the night (at 9:30 on a Friday night) so we asked about the bar or restaurants, were told they were closed for renovation, asked about the in house convenience store and told it was already closed for the day. We were pointed in the direction of the elevator with no offer of help, no bellhops around and not a luggage cart to be seen.
When we actually got to the room it was clean but freezing, this was the first cold night of the year. I turned up the thermostats in the bedroom and in the living area. We had a bag of food from the wedding that the caterer had packed for us to take and I loaded all of it into the mini fridge in the room as we weren't hungry. The next morning, after sleeping on horrible pillows and no extra blankets to be found, I woke up in a nice warm bedroom but when I stepped into the living area, it was still freezing and the bummer about this, so was the bathroom. Sucks to take a long hot shower and have to step out into a bathroom that feels like a refrigerator. After going to breakfast, again, not in the hotel because the restaurants were closed, we started packing up to leave. When I opened the mini fridge to get out the food from the wedding the smell of shrimp hit me hard. The refrigerator apparently was not working or had been turned off. There as at least $100 worth of food in there, all ruined.
I called the hotel several days later and spoke with a manager. All I got was an apology and a vouched for a free night, which I haven't actually received yet, but I'm betting will only be good Sunday through Thursday and exclude holidays. We should have received a full refund, it was our wedding night, you don't get a do over and that will always be the memory we have of what should have been the perfect end of the perfect day.
Do NOT plan a special night here, you will be horribly disappointed
I love this hotel. They did an excellent job. My only advice to future brides is that if you are from Alabama and a lot of your guests are coming from different areas of Alabama please check the RSA rate. They will find a way to get this rate and it doesn't count towards your block. Please keep this in mind when you are figuring out the number of rooms during contracting. It will save you some stress later.
We had our reception here. Brandie was great to work with! She was super accommodating to my out of town florist and flexible about all my changes. She was also always professional and patient with us! I must admit that although the the overall cost was a lot more than I wanted and you could probably save a lot on food/drink somewhere else. There were a lot of extra benefits we got by doing the reception here. The staff was helpful in setting a beautiful table, dishes were gorgeous as well as chargers and votives. There was a great and unique lighting feature on the ceiling that I ended up really appreciating! Didn't pay extra for any other type of lighting. They let us party to very late and then there were rooms for our guests to just walk up to. The presidential suite that they upgraded us to was amazing!! And, they let us check in early in the morning instead of paying an extra night! Overall, we had a great experience at the Battlehouse!!! I know it wasn't great on our wallet but I think all the benefits outweighed the price! I was very pleased!!
Beautiful place, really classy&great space but a little pricy
Each and every person we dealt with before and during our wedding was so amazingly helpful! Everyone on the catering staff was wonderful and nice. The chef was a pleasure to work with and has a great personality!! From the ladies at the front desk to Brandie our catering manager, everyone was so wonderful to work with. The Battle House was a wonderful backdrop for our wedding and has such great character!!
Absolutley !!!!! WONDERFUL Service and the most beautiful place and the food was outstanding !!!
Georgous hotel and close to everything. Only issue is that rooms have to be booked a month before wedding so make sure guest know that. They were very helpful trying to give the rate to guest that booked within last 30 days though.
