Black Tux is nowhere close to the convenience level they advertise. If you are a groom like me with groomsmen spread out across different geographies, and are looking for a way to ...
make it simple for everyone- do not be fooled. This company is not it.
I also find it deceiving that their reviews here are tied to so many specific "locations", since they are almost exclusively an online vendor and the locations- if you can even get in one- are outposts inside retail stores that do fittings only. So I'm posting mine to Santa Monica, which is where they are based to my understanding.
First and foremost, Black Tux effectively does not allow alterations. You won't see this anywhere in their marketing, or anywhere on your agreement with them. In fact, quite the opposite- they advertise that alterations are allowed and reimbursed. To be crystal clear- they do not allow any removal of material, OR any shortening or tightening (even temporary) of any garment. Sleeves or pant legs cannot be hemmed and pants cannot be taken in. If you can find an alteration that they allow (I couldn't) they will only reimburse up to $15. Good luck.
This became particularly problematic for me because their sizing, despite their claims, did not follow the standards of the multiple professional measurements I had taken. And since they don't send you your garments until 10 days before your event, you have to trust that they're shipping things expeditiously if you need replacements, and even then it's basically guess-work because you're telling them "XYZ" item is too long/too short, etc and they're sending a replacement based on that. I don't know about everyone else, but with 10 days to go until the event- I don't have the time to go to a tailor each time I get a replacement to have them measure exactly how 'wrong' it is. Not to mention that tailors don't exactly love taking measurements for free for items they'll get no sale on.
If your wedding happens to be in a location other than where you live, now you have to play that timing game with where you're going to be on the day the replacement arrives....all with only days to spare. It's extremely stressful and every time you have to call this company you are guaranteed to wait 30 minutes minimum to talk to someone.
So maybe you want to avoid sizing discrepancies and go straight to the source for measurements? If you're lucky enough to have a physical "showroom" in your city or anywhere remotely close to you, don't think you can just show up. You have to make an appointment or they will refuse you, and their availability fills up extremely quickly. Once again, none of this policy is made clear on their website or in any of the marketing materials they put out to get you to sign up.
On top of all of the inconveniences- one of the items I received (a white jacket) had a very obvious stain, and EVERY item I received had very obvious hem-lines.
They say they provide the groom's tux for free for groups of 7+. This is only true if you meet a minimum spend per person, and you will inevitably end up adding items like button studs and pocket squares that you may very likely not want or need, to meet the minimum.
This company is absolutely in no way shape or form the convenience option. Do not be fooled. I lost years off my life dealing with Black Tux.
I gave them two stars, essentially because the suits are stylish and the return process was easy, and that was still probably overly fair of me.
They are a nightmare! I would definitely try another vendor. We are far beyond Covid and yet they are still dropping the ball. They sent incorrect sizes, the tuxs we're filthy!! An...
d they refused to refund us. My dad even found a nasty tissue in the jacket pocket. It is a mess. Customer service tried their best but there is only so much they can do. According to their glass door reviews this place is crumbling on the inside and it reflects on our orders. Just avoid this place.
I waited a little longer than I should have to find where our groomsmen would be ordering their tuxes but fortunately that didn’t matter for this company. It was super easy to navi...
gate their website, figure out which pieces I wanted, and to set up our wedding date. None of our groomsmen had any issues with sizing and could take out what they already had. They were delivered on time, a couple of them early actually, and the tux’s looked fantastic the day of. Super easy to put the suit back in the box, tear off the old label to expose the new one, and drop it off at a UPS site. Highly recommend this if you’ve got your wedding party in multiple locations! Doesn’t require going in person if you can’t or don’t want to and easy to monitor who has and hasn’t ordered their stuff in your wedding party.
Just don’t do it. They are part of David’s bridal and operate through Nordstrom. My husband got measured. He bought his suit. When it came the pants didn’t fit at all. We went back...
and they measured him and the measurements were the same. I’m thinking it was just the wrong pants. The same problem occurred with multiple groomsmen. We got the replacement a couple of days later and they fit perfectly. The guys were all wearing a dark blue color and Chianti ties to match the Chianti bridesmaids dresses. Okay. The tie was not Chianti which is like a mauve color. It was dark burgundy. It was also FILTHY. My brothers was dirty as well and his pants were the wrong size too. They sent us black suspenders and a black vest even though it should have been blue. I called them and they said they only have black suspenders. Lol what. That would have been nice to know. We would have left them out for everyone. The ties were all burgundy for the men but they insisted that they are Chianti. They refunded us $12.
What a nightmare. They canceled on my groomsmen 3 times. Eventually, they asked him to take his own measurements and upload them, because they didn't have the staff to do it.
Extremely disappointed right now, 10 days before our wedding, we are being told that some of the items for the groomsmen are not available. We placed this order back in September a...
nd went with black tux because of the wide array of sizing and availability. I cannot stress enough how disappointing this experience is. On top of this we are being told that some of the items are available at the PA warehouse but due to being in the middle of their inventory they cannot ship some of the items we need and don't know when they will be done. What kind of business is this? I feel like we just got scammed and will be making sure people know.
0 Stars. Customer Service SUCKS!. My shirt was way too big, pants too tight and shoes too small. I contacted BT and I all I received were canned responses on how busy they were....
My son, the groom, had to buy a shirt from Men's Warehouse because BT said they had none to replace his. Luckily his shirt fit me, I had to wear my own shoes and then just remember not to squat down for fear of splitting my pants open. A groomsman had to order pants from Men's Warehouse because they never responded. So not only did this too pay for a rental, they paid to have replacement garments that BT would/could not supply. NEVER EVER USE THIS COMPANY.
After the wedding I contacted them via FB messenger - Nothing, no response. Save yourself the aggravation and use a different vendor.
They should at least reimburse those who had to buy garments.
@theknot you should remove this vendor from your site.

I really like this company! They shipped my fiance's suit for our engagement photos so incredibly fast! The suits are good quality and well put together, but they aren't the expens...
ive quality you'd find in a tux store in person. But if you need something nice enough, quick, and not too expensive, The Black Tux is it!
Highly recommend! Me (groom), my dad, father in law and all 9 of my groomsmen for our tuxedos and suits through black tux. I am located on the east coast and my groomsmen were on ...
the west coast, but it was very easy through Black Tux. I picked out their suits, they got fitted at multiple sites and it arrived more than 10 days in advance. Half of us needed replacements and they came in with more than enough time before the event. We even had a destination wedding and everything arrived on time. Customer service was friendly! I appreciated that I was able to track the progress of my groomsmen in the process so I was able to reach out to individuals personally to remind them to complete the process. Again, would highly recommend!
I've rented tuxedos and suits for all three of my high school boys over the years from The Black Tux. The suits are modern, youthful, high quality, and expensive-looking. They se...
em brand new every time. The fit is my favorite part. Tux shops have wide legs, polyester fabrics, too wide shoulders, etc. Not The Black Tux, my boys look like they are modeling from a high end catalog with their suits on.
This was my first experience with The Black Tux and I was pleasantly surprised just how easy it was and how great their customer service was. From the try it on experience at home...
, to the shipping of the Tux to the address of the event and the return. I'd definitely use them again. Even the shoes were comfortable!
I used the Black Tux for my prom, and I was really scared my tux would fit me too big and I would look like I was wearing my grandpa's suit. But it came perfectly fitting, and it l...

This is a great company!! Beautiful selection and super easy for me as the groomsman to get everyone to make it happen!

ate. Whatever magic this team has on employ is powerful indeed. The tuxedo I wore was made of high-quality material and fit at least as well as any brick-and-mortar vendor I've used in the past. The shipping is efficient and reliable. The return process is painless.
Perhaps most important, their professionalism and responsiveness during the pandemic were unparalleled. I offer my highest commendation for The Black Tux.

This team is AMAZING! Not only they have amazing suit options but their customer service is SO GOOD!
I wanted to thank the team at The Black Tux for a great experience with my rental for a black tie wedding we attended in Miami. The process was seamless from begging to end. From t...
he selection and consultation of the tux to delivery with enough time for changes if needed. The fit of the tux was great to the comfortable shoes and the cufflinks was all spot on for a great event. The return could not have been easier with the prepaid shipping label already on the box. The only issue is the tight return time line for the day after the event. I would suggest 48 hours to initiate the return. On a side note the branded "The Black Tux" garment bag that I used as my carryon received more then a few glances from the other passengers. Cheers!

I love working with the black tux! I just used a suit for a styled shoot I did. Any issues I had were quickly resolved. Highly recommend!
TheBlackTux.com was originally recommended to me back in 2015 by Tim Gunn of Project Runway fame. Since that event, I have rented formal wear and various suits from NO ONE ELSE!!!!...
!!! Do not make the mistake of going for one of the rental places you used for your prom. TBT's suits are cut beautifully and the process of adjusting sizes is the definition of easy.
Used the black tux twice now. They are quick to respond and send replacement items if need be. I suggest going to a physical location if possible since I personally am picky on how...

A1 service, the BEST Suit or Tux rental EVER. Great fit and great turn around for getting a new size. Everything was so awesome that I had to buy after my wedding.

High quality, timely, and made my sisters wedding perfect! Highly recommend.
Highly recommend the Black Tux! So easy to navigate the website and the convenience of delivery and shipping back your rental is by far the best. Rented a suit for my boyfriend for...
a wedding I was in and lets just say I want him to wear a suit every day now. My boyfriend and I both forgot his sizes so he took the quiz online and we used the measurement tips to help figure out what sizes we needed to order and then ordered a try on outfit in those sizes and it fit perfectly. Once we shipped back the try on we simply placed the actual rental order. Love how they ship your suit/tux 30 days before the event so that there is time for you to return any item that may not fit and request alternative sizes if needed. Overall great experience and the suit looked amazing!
We worked with Black Tux for my daughter's super small wedding. My son was her "Man of Honor". We rented suits, as opposed to tuxes and the suits were exquisite. The fitting pro...
cess was easy and when one of the groomsmen had an issue (he measured wrong), customer service was out of this world. Prices are far better than anything I could find locally; and, I may be partial, but my son looked almost as amazing as my daughter. We almost purchased and kept the suit (you can do that, you know), but alas, he is growing too fast. I highly, highly recommend The Black Tux!
Awesome easy service that was well thought through, recommended by the Groom. Make sure you know how they measure fit as not everyone measures the same. Though taught on the webs...
ite, there could be more detail for those of us not in the tailor world. This will save any adjustment issues as timing is tight but spot on. Quality was good enough some purchased their suit afterwards.
Wonderful company. Great fit and the customer service exceeded my expectations. Also loved how quickly it came and how easy it is to return.
The process was so easy, great experience, quality items, and quick replacement sizes were sent out. I would definitely consider using again in the future!
Extremely easy to use. You can send reminders to your groomsmen, which is helpful. A couple of my groomsmen sent there tuxes back for a new fit and had no issues at all. Definitely...
would recommend.
I was a groomsman, and received my tux in a timely manner. The fit was perfect! It seemed brand new, and was so well-tailored that I kept the tux afterward!
We used the black tux for our groomsmen. The process was very simple. At first we were very unsure of trying an online suit rental as a more affordable option for our wedding day...
. With the free home try on, it was helpful to feel the quality and fit of the suit that we picked. The customer service was great in coordinating with our groomsmen for ordering and sizing. The suits arrived 2 weeks before the wedding. We had one guy whose suit was too big, and he was able to reorder a new size that arrived in about a week, making it just in time for our wedding. The process to return to the suits after the event was extremely easy and the suits were of great quality, so much that some of our groomsmen wanted to buy the suits after. We would highly recommend using the black tux as a more affordable option for your event.
We used The Black Tux for the groom's and groomsmen's suits. When the suits arrived they were in great condition and fit well. The suits, shirts, and shoes all looked great in pict...

le price. When my event had to be postponed due to COVID-19, Black Tux was super accommodating. I got full credit for what I had paid and Black Tux will save my information so I can be ready for the reschedule date. Highly recommend.

BTW...since writing the review above, the wedding was AGAIN postponed from early June to late July (I can almost hear the bride crying in despair). DO you think the 2nd postponement was a problem? NOT AT ALL!!! They issued a credit that is good for ONE YEAR. God help us if that isn't long enough...it would be easier to deal with a Zombie Apocolypse (at least you could see them coming)!
