THE BOX SF is a wedding venue located in San Francisco, CA. Celebrate your special day surrounded by glowing antique wood, twinkling bulbs, natural light, and a mix of modern and vintage charm, all housed in a historic San Francisco building!
This is a premier event venue nestled in San Francisco, with several unique spaces for rent in our historic four story building! Originally a historic 1920s printing plant which printed William Randolph Hearst's San Francisco Examiner, the building now offers space for private events as well as housing the largest antiquarian paper and advertising store in the United States!
On our Top Floor we offer two versatile spaces for your event: The Main Room and The Gate Room. Our Gate Room contains the antique Gate Table, which is is 338 years old and is the oldest and longest-running dining and meeting table in the United States. This room has hosted hundreds of private events and wedding receptions. Outside the Gate Room, the top floor has a total capacity of 80 guests. Our Main Room can be arranged in several layouts, from theater style to various reception setups. All bookings include the services of an onsite Venue Manager to manage facility use, coordinate technical support, catering load-in, furniture delivery, and vendor setup, and ensure that your event runs smoothly. The event space is available to rent in two eight-hour blocks: from 8 am - 4 pm and from 4 pm - 12 am.
Our Second Floor also features three small suites available for rent, which is ideal for bridal parties and smaller groups. For special occasions, we have a historic letterpress printing shop and 1850s mercantile on our ground floor. It can be rented for photoshoots and receptions for 10 to 50 people. And a hidden Speakeasy called "The Sipping Room," which can seat up to 8-10 people at a time. This space is accessible through two antique fireplaces and is available as a special add-on package for guests booking events on the upper floors.

REVIEWS FROM PAST COUPLES!
My wife and I hosted our wedding reception at the top floor of The Box SF, and had a wonderful experience! The space is beautiful and unique and we and our guests loved it. Staff during the event was very professional and courteous, and the event coordinators were stellar before during and after the event. The Box SF has a list of caterers they recommend and prefer, which made our selection process much easier (and the food was wonderful!) We elected to include the speakeasy tour as part of our reception and Mark led wonderful tours for all of the guests, it was a highlight of the event. Would definitely recommend The Box SF to anyone looking to hold a unique and classy event!
The Event Producer and Venue Manager at The Box SF was an absolute dream to work with leading up to our wedding reception and during the actual party! She went above and beyond, assured us everything would go as planned.

Really cool antique store that is also a bit of a museum! Their specialty is antique printed material and they also have several 1800s printing presses on display. There are endless shelves and little drawers full of material to browse. Definit...

This is such an incredibly unique place. Incredible collection of vintage letterpress, rare old prints, stationary, typewriters. It's so cool a place like this exists in SF. Their collection is massive... with millions of items and the owner is...
so knowledgable and passionate about all the items. It's also a super nice event space upstairs.

Our organization hosted a half day professional gathering at the BOX in the fall. From first contact to clean up after the event, Melanie was so helpful and communicative. They were able to ensure that all ran smoothly and we had minimal things...
to worry about during the event. The space is beautiful and unique and it perfectly fit our needs. Thanks Melanie and team!

I was wandering along in San Francisco on my way to visit the bookbinder museum when I met the owner of The Box SF, Mark. When I told him I was interested in books and other historical items, he graciously invited me to enter his shop.
The out...
side is discrete and belies how magical the inside space truly is. When you enter, you're immediately blown away by the vintage art and artifacts everywhere. Mark and his assistant, Israel, gave me a mini-tour and explained how the shop specializes in ephemera, which refers to items that were designed for short-term use (advertising prints, perfume bottles, soap labels, etc).
The shop contains items from the mid-1800s to the early-1900s from around the world. Everything is in great condition and attests to the craftsmanship of earlier time periods. What was supposed to be a quick 20-30 minute visit turned into a 2-hour visit.
Everywhere you turn, there's something new to take in. I love antique and thrift stores, yet I have never encountered anything as unique as The Box. I found some souvenirs to take home with me and even the wrapping paper was this cool, historical print.
The Box is a treasure trove for people who love vintage, antique, or novel artifacts. If that's your style, you have to visit.
