This was the worst bridal shop that I went to! I had called a week prior to schedule an appointment because this was the only shop in my area that had a particular Maggie Sottero dress I was looking for (or so they said).
I walked in to find... another bride and her family still using the one area that the shop had to view the dresses the bride was trying on. I thought, "Maybe her appointment is ending" I was told by the man who checked me in, who I later found out was the owner, that I was allowed to pick out 5 dresses and then he would set me up in a dressing room. I told him that I was there for this particular dress and he replied "Well you'll have to find it!"
My bridesmaids and I picked out the 5 dresses that I wanted to try on and I was shown to a dressing room. I was left there by myself to put on the dresses. I had to call my mom so she could come help me tie/zip the dresses. When I was ready to show my girls the first dress, (which looked awful because the store does not offer undergarments) the other bride was still there! And another bride had walked in and was looking for her 5 picks. I waited my turn and stood up in front of all these people, I did not know, and showed off this dress that I felt ugly in. I was so embarrassed!
I went back to my dressing room to try on the next dress, which was too big and needed to be clipped. My mom asked one lady to bring us some and she said "I will have to find them". 10 minutes later when we tried to check on the status of the clips and the woman was standing outside of the dressing room of the 3rd bride, with clips in her hands! (Mind you this bride came in AFTER me)
The final dress I tried on was one that I actually really liked. The off-the-rack price was 900, but the store owner would not tell me who the designer was. They cut out all the tags from their dresses!! We asked several times for the designer's name and he just replied "I have to ask my buyer" I don't know about you but, I am NOT going to spend 900 on a dress just because someone says it's "designer".
I changed back into my clothes. My party and I were discussing the horrible service in the dressing room when the owner came in with more dresses saying "Time for more!" I replied "Oh, no thank you. I am done for today." That's when he told me "NOT FOR YOU! Someone else is coming in here."
As we left my mom did make a complaint to the owner. He told her "Well 2 of my girls called in sick today! What am I supposed to do?" Then he offered a 10% discount for when we came back. I would rather wear jeans to my wedding then buy a dress from this shop!
After we left I was so sad, the day was supposed to be exciting and my experience left me feeling not so hot. My girls convinced me to go to David's Bridal in Oxnard to try and lift my spirits. Everyone there was so nice and I ended up buying a dress that day! Thank God for people like them. They were able to turn my horrible day around into a great one!
