Everything about Brookwood was amazing, professional, and simple. I was initially worried about how casual it looked, but the cafe looked completely different on our wedding day! The staff dimmed the lights and the room looked very romantic with the candles we had as center pieces. They have full length table cloths, but our flower decorator started setting up before Brookwood put the long table cloths on. Our pictures were beautiful, especially with the stained glass in the chapel. The food was the BEST, our tasting was the most enjoyable part of wedding planning! We had a lot of food and even had a lot of leftovers. The food is included at Brookwood, so we didn't have to do additional planning. We had alcohol, but a few people told me the actually preferred Brookwoods Apple Mint Tea- highly recommend trying it! I was initially worried about the small size of the dance floor. Turns out, it was the perfect size! We had about 130 people at the wedding, and the small dance floor meant everyone was in close proximity, which made our reception pictures look fantastic! (SGI photography). Since Brookwood is open to the public, we were able to visit multiple times before the wedding and get ideas on decor and seating. The cherry on top was that every dollar spent went to the welfare of special needs adults!
I can't say enough amazing things about Brookwood. My husband and I had volunteered there before with the citizens, and so when we found out they did weddings, we were sold! It is perfect if you want a venue feel but to still want to get married in a "real church" like we did! The fact that the venue was beautiful and the money goes to a good cause is already amazing, but you also get Danielle as your day-of-coordinator who will help walk you through every step of the day! She was so patient even when my nerves got the best of me, and helped tremendously! We had so many compliments on the food- seriously, look no further if you want a venue with in-house catering! Their chef did our tasting, and it was so nice that the kitchen was on-site. No cold food!! With COVID and the Texas ice storm, we had so many uncertainties on our big day. In fact, the day before the wedding we went to Brookwood and found that it was still under construction from the storm! I was so worried that this would look bad on the day of, but somehow Danielle made it all look seamless and PERFECT! She truly can make any mistake disappear into thin air! When the groom's suite was closed due to COVID, she even booked a hotel room for the guys last-minute. I could go on, but you should absolutely go tour Brookwood if you are considering it for your wedding. You will fall in love!
My entire experience with Brookwood was amazing! We originally feel in love with the gorgeous chapel and the mission of Brookwood. We are so happy that our wedding was able to give back to the citizens at Brookwood! Katie and Jessie are awesome!!! They spent so many months answering questions from me and my mom and giving us suggestions, and they made sure that everything went smoothly on the day of our wedding. I kept hearing from our guests that our wedding was so organized. Our ceremony was beautiful, and the reception was so much FUN!!!! One of the things the guests loved most was the amazing food by Brookwood!!! I cannot thank Brookwood enough for this wonderful experience!
We absolutely LOVED Brookwood!! Everything was amazing. The chapel onsite is gorgeous and made for beautiful pictures! The reception was perfect and our guests had a beautiful garden as an outside option as well. The food was also stellar. Everyone loved the appetizers and main meal. The staff is incredibly sweet too! Katie and Jessie were in constant communication with me to make sure my wedding ran smoothly since the day we booked. They were prompt to answer my multiple texts, emails, and phone calls. To top it off your money goes to support a wonderful cause!! Can't top that!
The venue was absolutely beautiful, and the money we paid went to a great cause. Highly recommend!
We chose Brookwood because
1) We wanted to be married in a chapel, but didn't want guests to travel a long distance from the ceremony to the reception.
2) We wanted a venue that was very all-inclusive, OR we could rent almost everything we needed from them.
3) Bonus: They're a non-profit for adults with special needs, so all the money spent with them goes to a good cause.
Katie is the wedding coordinator who you will work with there. She is incredibly easy to work with and very accommodating. The chapel is gorgeous with modern stained glass and wooden beams in the architecture. They provided & set up all the candles (no extra cost), and the Christmastime floral was still up (so we saved on floral costs!).
In the reception area, they have a restaurant with incredible food--it was something that many of the guests commented on throughout the night. We had a seated dinner and the service was excellent. We were able to rent chargers, table numbers, uplighting, outdoor lighting, plants from the garden center, and more for a very reasonable fee (I really liked not having to find more vendors for all those things!). Chiavari chairs, white table linens, use of televisions for photos, and more came included in the price.
We're very happy with our choice and would highly recommend the Brookwood Community to any couple.
We can't say enough good things about our experience at Brookwood. Katie was incredible and guided us through every step of the process. We had a bit of a unique experience in that we got married a week after Hurricane Harvey hit Houston. We were worried about guests being able to make it in and the venue even being operational, but Katie was in constant contact, offered us every option (from refunds to rescheduling to relocating), and in the end bent over backwards to find an alternate reception space on site and made everything absolutely perfect, with very little different from how we planned. Katie's flexibility made our event happen in spite of local tragedy. Apart from our individual wonderful experience, part of why we chose Brookwood is because of the incredible work the community does. It was an affordable wedding venue where we knew proceeds were going towards a cause we were passionate about. The chapel is gorgeous and although we didn't get to have our reception in the Garden Ballroom due to the storm, the garden and cafe area where receptions typically take place is also beautiful and maintained by local residents- a cool extra touch. While Brookwood requires you do your catering through them, the chef and food are so good we wouldn't have had it any other way. Katie was very flexible with the menu and even offered to have the chef make any family recipes we might have. We had such a wonderful experience and can't say enough good things about The Brookwood Community and Katie. I am so glad we choose them for our perfect day!
When we started planning our wedding we knew our priorities were focused on ensuring that our community of friends and family felt welcomed and comfortable coming together to celebrate this little thing called love. From the moment we found the Brookwood Community during our research (and I did A LOT of research), we loved that their own mission statement directly aligned with our goals. Their chapel is breathtaking. The food is fantastic - I'm talking fresh from the garden delicious. Chef even catered to my gluten free diet and nobody noticed because they were too busy eating! We had plenty of room for 175 guests (could have easily had more). Being from Texas, we had a Grand March as a part of our reception. We weaved in and out of the reception hall, out the doors opening directly into the the garden and back through the foyer. Everyone had a great time!
We could not have been happier with Katie, our wedding coordinator. She listened to what we wanted and helped deliver everything down to the smallest detail with constant communication and clear expectations on costs.
We knew we were going to spend a lot of money on our wedding, and felt better knowing it was going to an amazing organization. I should also note, that Brookwood was the most economical choice that we were considering. That means we were able to check off EVERY SINGLE box - welcoming, delicious food, well priced, and a respected organization within Houston.
Overall - We love the Brookwood Community! And we loved our wedding!!
For a note on logistics - we had our hotel block at City Centre so that guests had plenty to keep them entertained with during the weekend. It was an easy drive out to the venue.
We loved Brookwood as soon as we pulled into the parking lot. The staff was amazing! They knew exactly what to do to make sure the bride has a stress-free day! All of our guest kept commenting about how wonderful the venue was as well as the food. The food was so good! All of our guest loved their signature salad and lemon chicken. I highly recommend this great venue! The price is very reasonable compared to other venues around Houston. The more important part is that you are supporting a community member for a year. You will not regret having your wedding at Brookwood!!
The Brookwood Community is by far the best place to get married on the West side of Houston. The best thing that Brookwood has to offer is the opportunity to give back with your wedding. We were looking at many venues, and finally decided on Brookwood because all of the profits of the wedding would go to create scholarships for citizens at Brookwood Community. We had no idea that by making that the decision we would also be setting ourselves up for the absolute best reception ever.
Beyond the good cause, Brookwood is absolutely beautiful. The Garden Ballroom is gorgeous and classic without being stuffy or overdone. The garden outside was one of the most beautiful parts of the venue. Our goal was to bring more of the garden inside, which offered all of the charm of an outdoor venue while still allowing everyone to be comfortable in the AC. There was also a great foyer for drinks and apps that had lots of opportunities for customization.
Jerri, the coordinator, was so helpful. She made sure that the wedding flowed and went out without a hitch. Everything was set up beautiful and exactly where it needed to be when it needed tp be there. Jerri served us out drinks and food and made us feel so taken care of. She even checked with all of the grandparents to make sure they were always happy. She liaised with the DJ and photographer often to make sure everything was absolutely perfect. I did not worry about one thing during my wedding and we had the absolute time of our life. Everyone at the wedding kept talking about how wonderful, beautiful, and fun the wedding felt. The venue let people of all ages feel completely comfortable and enjoy the celebration.
The only struggle we had with Brookwood was on pricing. They would not work with us on a bar package that fit our party better and required that we take one of their pre-made and pricy packages, despite the fact that we knew our group would not be heavy drinkers. This is not an abnormal occurrence, but we would have loved the opportunity to pay for just the alcohol we drank, instead of an expensive per person price $17, which was the cheapest price. The same with the food. The food was absolutely AMAZING, and they did work with us to make a dish that was exactly what we wanted, but the cost was higher than we really wanted. We had the cheapest food option and still spent $37 a head for apps and dinner. But ultimately my husband continued to remind me that the money went to a great cause. In hind site I do not regret anything about our wedding, and hearing that others really enjoyed it made every cent worth it.
Overall, Brookwood was an absolutely perfect place for our wedding and I am completely sure that it was perfect for my husband and I and all of our guests.
YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY GO CHECK IT OUT, you will not be disappointed. Good luck with all of your plans, and I pray your wedding could be as blessed as ours was.
I knew when I visited this place it was the one. They were helpful, good at communication, organized and just a beautiful place to get married at. The food can't be beat either. I would recommend this place to everyone. And all the profits go back to the community there.
I had the opportunity to attend a wedding at Brookwood. It was like a destination wedding just 20 minutes from Houston. The most beautiful chapel that was totally candle lit and they had lanterns lighting the path. The reception was THE most fun ever....they had an incredible buffet...the chef is really famous and the food tasted great. I heard all the proceeds go to the Brookwood Community to help the citizens with disabilities. It is like the biggest blessing to be there. A 5star place with 5star service and $$$$ goes to charity!
We decided we wanted to have our wedding at the Brookwood Community because we loved that it wasn't a "wedding factory" and all of the profits would go to a WONDERFUL cause. When we first visited, we were amazed by the beautiful chapel and the staff's knowledge about how to have a perfect wedding.
We didn't feel like we sacrificed a thing to have a wedding with a cause - the food, facilities, and staff were all amazing. They were so easy to work with and made for a stress-free wedding! Any time we wanted to try a new idea, they were completely comfortable figuring out how to make it work (at a reasonable price)!
I cannot imagine getting married anywhere else! Everything was perfect.
This place was wonderful. It was even more perfect that the money we paid for the wedding went into a place with such an awesome mission. Travis was awesome! There are still a few kinks they have to work out becasue they have only been doing weddings for a short time. They were so awesome at keeping me (the bride) calm and make sure everything could go as smooth as it could. All our guests loved our food and thought the wedding was beautiful!
This was probably the best decision I made as a Bride. I wasn't only paying for a wedding in the most gorgeous venue, I was also giving money to a community that means so much to a certain population. The community is actually a place that houses and schools adults with special needs. They get their income from just donations and from the Cafe. They just recently renovated their Cafe and their church was about the most beautiful I have seen. Not too mention I got many comments about how great the food was! I am so blessed to be able to say I am one of the first to have a wedding their. It exceeded my expectations in not only looks but quality!
