I cannot sum into words how perfect my wedding was at The Brown Palace. We booked a New Years Eve wedding in early 2021, telling ourselves, there is NO WAY covid is still going to be a thing by the end of the year. Well - talk about a roller coaster ride. But through it all - Amy and the Brown staff were absolutely amazing. We had the best time throughout the year coming to the Brown for multiple events. Anticipation built for out special day. Amy was always responsive. She was always calming - no matter how hysterical or crazy I was. (I really tried not to be - but covid will do that to any bride.) The day finally comes - and I couldn't be happier with our experience at the Brown. Every detail was attended to. Chef worked with us to come up with our perfect menu and late night snack. Staff was fantastic. All of our guests couldn't get over how great the food was, how beautiful the hotel was, and how fun the wedding was. As far as venues go - this was everything I could have ever dreamed of, and then some. Thank you to Amy and the entire team/staff at The Brown for working so hard to make my dreams come true. We can't wait to continue to come back and visit year after year and celebrate this special even in our lives. Thank you for everything
We booked my sister's wedding at the Brown Palace before Covid was a thing, and they were amazing about keeping us up to date on options, protocols, as much as possible during all the uncertainty. The coordinator there, Amy, absolutely blew us away going above and beyond to make sure my sister had the day of her dreams, Covid and all. Fortunately most restrictions were lifted by my sister's wedding date, but Amy and all her staff still made sure we felt comfortable and safe the whole time. We hosted several events at the Brown Palace, using the Brown Palace Club, Onyx Room, Reagan Suite, Roosevelt Suite, and Ballroom for the main event. All the venues within the hotel are gorgeous, unique, and exude the classical romantic allure of a historic hotel with a story to tell. Nothing was ever out of place, quite the achievement for Amy and her team given they had 7 different weddings going on in one weekend! We were also thankful to get to know several of the staff since they helped throughout the weekend with various events, and bartender Lisa in particular made sure all our guests had a wonderful time and took such good care of us. In sum, the professionalism and elegance of the staff and this venue cannot be overstated. We highly recommend for other couples looking for that classic, romantic feel in an incredible historic setting.
We had our wedding reception at the Brown Palace in October 2019 and it was an absolute fairy tale! Of course, you can't beat the beauty and history of the hotel, but the Catering Manager Megan Bobay Spurlock went above and beyond in answering questions, connecting us with her colleagues in other departments, helping us customize the day exactly how we envisioned, and just being lovely to work with. The package set-up is really great: reception space, catering, bar service, linens/silverware/flatware, florals, and a custom cake are all included, so things all run smoothly and in a coordinated fashion. They were attentive to little details (even running to grab my comfy shoes from the guest room to change before my dance and bringing us a plate from the cocktail hour to eat as we took photos), very flexible about customizations and special requests - even setting up a mini version of their champagne cascade, which was the highlight of our reception! Even the tasting was so special in that we got to meet the Head Chef. Love, love, love!
(Edited to add:) Carina Aguilar and her team at Brown Palace Flowers created an absolutely gorgeous suite of flowers for our wedding! She did a great job taking our ideas and visions (and Pintrest boards) and creating cohesive, beautiful floral arrangements for our bouquets and corsages, reception centerpieces, head table, cake and cake table, and even an adorable flower crown for our flower girl! She was flexible in making adjustments based on our preferences and budget, delivered everything on the big day promptly and labelled for to make the distribution streamlined, She's so creative and lovely to work with.
Would recommend the Brown Palace and their florist for any to-be-wed couple in Colorado.

We held our wedding reception at the brown palace and every part of it was fantastic. We worked with Megan who was extremely attentive and went out of her way to let us have an extremely special and memorable event. The entire banquet staff and the florist also worked with us to meet our needs and pull off an amazing event.
We just had our wedding at the Brown Palace in Denver and we could not be more pleased. We had our ceremony in the Club room and our reception in the Onyx room. It was absolutely stunning! They were so flexible and responsive to our needs. The BP flower shop did all our floral and wow, everything was beyond beautiful.
As a Denver native, I have lots memories of Mother's Day brunches, High Tea, and other events at the Brown Palace, not to mention a general fond admiration and Colorado-pride for the "unsinkable" Molly Brown and the Brown Palace. I was beyond excited to stay here on my wedding night, and was so deeply disappointed. We would have had a nicer room and better service at a 2 star hotel. I get that the hotel is old and that's why the rooms are small, but you stay at a 4-Star for the service, which was abysmal, so we essentially paid a small fortune for a Pod-like hotel with worse service!
My groom's sister had arranged for champagne, chocolate covered strawberries, and a rose petal turndown upon our arrival. We got none of those things. When we checked in (still in a wedding dress and him in his suit) the night manager seemed annoyed that he had to, you know, so his job and check us in and grab our bag that had been dropped off earlier (when the amenities instructions were confirmed). When I asked if he could send up a vase for my bridal bouquet he said he wasn't sure what he had but that he'd send something up. He never did, and no one ever called to say they couldn't find anything.
The sheets had weird pink stains on them. We didn't have bottles of water in the room and were given no information about internet, ice, room service--literally anything about the hotel. We were just handed our keys (and not our bag, which we assumed would be in our room, and had to come back down to get, which extra annoyed the front desk person).
When his sister texted the next day to ask about the roses and champagne and we had no idea what she was talking about, we talked to the front desk. The front desk manager noted that those amenities were in our profile and should have been in our room and then complained about the new management. I get that it wasn't her fault or mistake but her initial instinct was to blame someone else and not to apologize or make it right. Eventually she did apologize, and the hotel is still lovely, I just won't be coming back on our anniversary (or ever) based on the lackluster service and teeny tiny rooms.
I have dreamed about having my wedding at The Brown since I was a little girl. Once I got engaged, I eagerly contacted them, and got put in touch with Kyle F, a certified wedding specialist at the Brown Palace. My fiancé and I were exploring the possiblity of having an intimate wedding and were curious about what they offer. Over the course of three days of contact, I have decided to not have a big or small wedding at The Brown Palace because of their complete lack of professionalism and respect. When I got in contact with Kyle, I told him I was looking at having a small wedding with 20 or so people. He responded by giving me a grand explanation of what a wedding would look like...with 150 people. What? I wrote back and restated 20 people not 150. After hearing that my wedding would not be large and expensive(although the expensive part was assumed, as I was still planning to make it a grand, luxurious event. )It seemed as if he was bothered by my inquiry. It took him days to get back to my messages, which is understandable, but on the contact app I was using, It showed when he read my messages. I could see that he read my messages days before. He finally responded after I had sent a second message. The final straw of my experience was when I asked him if it would be possible to replace the plated reception dinner with a plate from the Palace Arms. He responded by CC’ing the Palace Arms manager and handing me off to him, saying that he could no longer help me as I was no longer having an event. I responded to him saying that I still wanted a ceremony and reception, but was just curious about the Palace Arms. All in all, my experience was incredibly negative and upsetting. I felt as if my wedding was not important, and that I was a bother to a venue I was planning on paying thousands and thousands of dollars. We have chosen to have our wedding at the Broadmore, as they have been nothing but kind, attentive, and respectful.
We had our wedding here in SEPT 2016. A lot of things went wrong and we found a lot of the staff (wait staff and valet, especially) extremely unprofessional. I understand that the day wouldn’t be perfect, but the cons outweighed the pros. We kept going back and forth on if we should contact them or not, but ultimately decided that we should so that upcoming weddings don’t experience what we did. The wait staff being extremely incompetent and rude to me missing my cue down the aisle, the list is pretty long. When you ask your guests how they enjoyed the wedding, the last thing you want to hear is the negatives (first, if at all). I reached out to the bar manager in the Ship Tavern and the Event Coordinator Director, who understood our concerns and were equally shocked at the way we were treated.
I’m still waiting for the catering manager to reach out to us and apologize about their wait staff being so extremely incompetent and rude, not knowing what food they were serving to guests at cocktail hour, the cleaning up of dishes inside the room (especially during the speeches), only having 2 servers for 65 guests, our last table finally getting their food at the point that the first table who got their food were finishing up. It wasn’t a Saturday night at The Olive Garden. This was an expensive wedding at the Brown Palace. If their servers don’t know the difference, they should not be serving guests at a wedding reception. Plus, they overcharged us for parking and could never confirm that we’d get early check-in. The room block situation was a whole other problem. People said they had a room and never received e-mail confirmations. I had to constantly ask for a list so that I could make sure everyone was accounted for.
Positives: The room was really nice and big, the food was great, the rooms were gorgeous, and the flowers were absolutely incredible!!
I don’t want to tell you not to go here, but maybe hire a wedding planner to make sure everything goes smoothly or ask more questions in the moment (I wish we or our guests had told our wedding coordinator that the waitress was being extremely rude to guests). I guess this review comes more out of sadness, than anger because my view of the BP has changed. I loved The Brown Palace and wanted to get married here since the first time I saw it.
We couldn't be happier with our choice to host our reception at the Brown Palace. Hope made the entire planning process so smooth and the day turned out just as I had envisioned this. It was so nice to know our event was in good hands with Hope and the staff so we were able to enjoy the day with friends and family.
I got married on Jan. 3rd this year (2015) and it was just an amazing experience all around. Michelle, the wedding coordinator at the Brown Palace was always available and helpful. The food was great and was commented upon by guests and the decorations, flowers and room layout were personalized just for our day. I couldn't have been happier with how it turned out and will always remember it as a great experience
The Brown Palace was so wonderful to work with! Planning a wedding can get stressful, but they work hard to make your dream wedding a reality! Their coordinators are amazing and everything from the setting, to the food, to the atmosphere is of the highest quality. It was a truly magical experience that we and our guests will never forget!
I couldn't have asked for a better wedding planner and venue! The BP and staff were amazing and truly able to make our wedding day perfect. They were always available and willing and able to help through the planning process. The food was amazing and the cake was beautiful. The service was out of this world. All of our guests truly enjoyed their stay and I can honestly say that we had a fairy tale wedding. Thank you so much!
My groom and I stayed at the Brown Palace the night of our wedding and it was perfect. The hotel and our room was absolutely beautiful. They have great service and are easy to work with. We had friends check us in and drop our bags off with no problems. The Brown Palace provided a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries which was a nice surprise! We ordered room service in the morning, which was delicious!
The price is great for a nice hotel experience downtown. I'd definitely recommend it!
It is pricey, but AMAZING. Make sure to book earlier rather than later.
Brandi at the Brown Palace was wonderful to work with. We had looked at the Brown palace for our wedding venue, they were so sweet there and they told us to look around and find the perfect venue for us. They did not pressure us in any way and they were willing to work with our requests. We ended up having the reception at a different location, but contacted the Comfort Inn and Brown Palace regarding room blocks. They were amazing to work with. Brandi would send us updates of people that had reserved rooms and she even added rooms when our block was getting filled up. We met the requirement for 10 rooms to be filled and got a free night at the Brown Palace.
Was expecting more honestly, they didn't quite understand what I was going for even after pictures. It was nice but not as amazing as I thought it would be....
I held my destination wedding over NYE weekend at The Brown Palace. My husband and I live in Houston, so we planned the wedding mostly via e-mails. We actually picked the BP as our venue without having seen it in person! It was the best possible decision we could have made. It's a gorgeous hotel, with a place to take a gorgeous wedding photo everywhere you turn. There are a ton of private event rooms, each with a different size and feel. It is also within walking distance of the 16th Street Mall and lots of other activities, so there were plenty of things for our guests to do when we weren't entertaining them. We had our wedding and reception in the Brown Palace Club Room, with about 50 guests. Michelle Gillette was our wedding coordinator, and she could not have been more helpful. She gave her honest opinion when we asked for it, even talking us out of a midnight snack because it would just have been too much food (she was right!). She helped us find vendors, and locations for some events we were hosting offsite (like the rehearsal dinner). They were also so accommodating when we had to ship a lot of wedding-related things in advance, accepting packages for us and checking to make sure the contents arrived safely. Michelle was expecting, and her due date turned out to be our wedding date. I'm sure a lot of brides would have freaked out, but Michelle had everything so organized so far in advance that I was never frazzled for a moment, even when she had to hand our wedding over to her colleague Brandi at the last minute because she was just too pregnant to be on her feet for our big day. Chuck at The Brown Palace Flower Shop was incredible...he is so knowledgeable, and worked with us until he achieved our vision for the decor and flowers within our budget. The food and cocktails were amazing...our guests are still raving! We had both our ceremony and reception at the BP, in the same room. During the cocktail hour, the transformation from ceremony to reception was just stunning. Our guests kept telling us that they couldn't believe it was the same room! The staff at the Spa were also so pleasant. My bridal party and I had our hair and makeup done there, and we just had the best time. The hair salon part of the spa is small (they only have two chairs), but that meant that we had the space pretty much to ourselves, so the photographer could take plenty of photos of us getting ready. Erin was so helpful when I made all of the appointments, and Shawna did a fantastic job on my hair and makeup. They were so efficient that we actually finished at the Spa an hour and a half earlier than planned! Also, the ladies at the linen rental were great to work with. They tracked down the table overlays we wanted, even though they were out of stock. Another great thing was that the BP is connected to a Comfort Inn, so we were able to hold blocks of rooms at both hotels for a discounted rate for our guests - I know they appreciated having two price points to choose from. The wedding package options are pretty generous for the price, and being able to source most of our vendors (linens, food/drink, cake, flowers) directly through the hotel saved us a lot of stress, especially since we were planning from afar. I honestly cannot think of one negative thing to say about our experience!! They are true professionals who do all they can to make sure your wedding is a special event.
After a less than perfect experience with my trial run, Abbie at the Brown Palace did an outstanding job. She immediately made me feel at ease. She used Jane Iredale products and gave me a natural, yet elegant look. It was awesome, and I would definitely recommend Abbie for make-up application.
I love the Brown palace. My husband proposed to me here, and we had our wedding night there. We got an amazing suite with champagne and strawberries waiting for us. We were king and queen for the night. We had breakfast in bed the next day and were well taken care off. This is a place where you can create memories!
Since I was a kid, I've wanted to be married at the Brown Palace-- little did I know when I started out searching for venues that they were going to be reasonably priced and so incredibly service-oriented. We booked our wedding about 18 months in advance, and though the original catering manager left halfway through our planning, they made sure the transition was seamless. We worked with Michelle Gilette, who was a pleasure to work with. They were accomodating and always helpful and responsive. On our wedding day, Michelle made it so I didn't have to stress one bit-- she even carried my train up the escalator before we entered the reception. She made sure that we ate dinner and had a great time. Couldn't be happier with how our beautiful night turned out!
My sister hosted my bridal shower at the Brown Palace for High Tea, and it was incredible. The food, the tea, the cocktails, and the atmosphere all made it so fun. I know that many of the girls that came had never gone to high tea there before, and that it was a great experience for everyone. Make RESERVATIONS for sure if you wan to go!
My husband and I had a winter wedding in Denver, CO in January 2011. We decided to plan our wedding reception at The Brown Palace Hotel and we loved it. Our out-of-town guests loved seeing the historic side of Denver, and the hotel was absolutely stunning with its winter decorations. Our event planner (Mary Hawley) was fantastic, we loved working with all the hotel staff, and it was a great place for easy wedding planning: flowers, AV, decorations, catering, etc. were all available through the hotel, so we didn't have to worry about coordinating different vendors. On the day of the wedding we were thrilled with how everything turned out--the tables were set up perfectly, the food was fantastic, and everything just looked beautiful. We highly recommend The Brown Palace!
We were engaged at the Palace Arms, Jon proposed at dinner, but we never dreamed we could afford having our wedding at the Brown! Everything is included, the cake, the drinks, the room, the food, the flowers... The service was impecable and the evening flowed perfectly. Everything was taken care of! It was so easy and incredibly elegant. We were married New Year's Day so the whole place was decorated for the holidays. It was spectacular!
We had our wedding ceremony in the Brown Palace Club and reception in the Onxy Suite. Both rooms need very little extra decoration, they are gorgeous on their own! Everything looked great both in person and in our pictures. There were no hidden costs and their packages were very inclusive. We are really glad that we picked the Brown Palace!
The Brown Palace is a Victorian hotel that really caters to its clients. WE got engaged there and decided to just see if we could do the wedding there too. For us the all inclusive package options were a real plus. I loved not having to figure out how to work with and coordinate a bunch of different vendors, everything was in house! We had such an easy time planning our wedding there. Mary our in house coordinator was so helpful. As we got closer to the date she would even email me if she was taking a few days off so that I wouldn’t get stressed if I didn’t hear back from her in her usually timely manner (usually I got a reply email within 2 hours of asking a question!) The food was amazing, the staff bent over backward for every single one of our guests and everyone was so nice! They even made sure to serve kids their meal (and sparkling cider for toasts) a little before everyone else so they wouldn’t get bored and fussy, (parents loved this!) Everything was set up beautifully, efficient and we had zero hiccups. They didn’t even blink an eye when we wanted our dog at the wedding, it was so smooth I highly recommend them!
The Brown Palace itself is classy, sophisticated and elegant. The food was amazing, the bridal suite was fabulous and most of the staff were very pleasant. Our coordinator, Mary, did her job very well, but she was cold as ice and not pleasant to the Bride. If you go with the Brown and get Mary, have a mom or the Groom work with her. She seems to have the opinion that all Brides are bridezillas and treats you as such. The centerpieces are included with the price of the reception, but the flowers included are disappointing; you have to pay extra to get full centerpieces, but it's worth it. The flower shop was very frustrating because they are pretty much non-responsive and you have to stay on top of them. It took 6 weeks to receive a response on a time to do the consult and another 4 weeks to receive the bid. When you get the contract with the pricing for your event with the Brown, they do not include tax and gratuity. We got a big surprise when we went to pay the final bill at it was $3,000 more than we had budgeted for based on the contract price.
All in all, the reception was beautiful and our guests had a blast.
They did a great job in taking care of all the details. I was not interested in dealing with the details and they took care of all of that and made sure my day was perfect. Their well trained staff had it all covered!
