Disappointing how they act like they are going to book you, and then they don't!! Don't waste your time.
I was ready to book, and they said I needed a "required" virtual tour. Set that up finally after waiting for weeks for them to respond, then they set me up on "their" time, and then after the tour, no response! We have stress enough, and on a time crunch, i don't need a venue wasting my time. I do not recommend it. đź‘Ž
We could not have asked for a better place to have our wedding! The Capen House is beautiful inside and out and was a perfect fit for our wedding (guest count 95). The venue is quick to respond to emails and return phone calls too. They offer a list of preferred vendors which was a nice place to start when looking at different vendor options. We highly recommend The Capen House for any special events!
This was the only venue that we toured. When we arrived, we knew that it was exactly what we were looking for. Not only are the grounds GORGEOUS, the house is historical and charming. Our guests had so much to say about our stunning venue.
Any questions?
I cannot rave about this venue enough! My husband and I just had our wedding here and this gorgeous venue really set the stage for a beautiful event.
The location is ideal. It is situated in a quiet area of Winter Park very close to Park Ave shopping and tons of restaurants and cafes, which we liked because it is a very nice area to accommodate traveling guests. It is also not too far from Orlando attractions, which was great for guests traveling with kids.
The venue itself is stunning. It is a well-maintained historic home with a lovely waterfront view, though the major appeal for us was the botanical garden setting behind the house and sculpture garden. The landscaping is gorgeous and encourages guests to explore, which I felt was ideal to keep everyone occupied throughout the cocktail hour. The interior is also very elegant and provides a great backdrop for dancing, catching up with guests, and it is nice to have as a backup in the event of rain.
There is a full kitchen onsite, handicap accessible bathrooms for guests, and a private bridal suite with a separate bathroom. My bridal party used this suite to get ready and frequently found each other back in here throughout the night to take breaks from all the activity or to use the restroom. It’s a very nice perk.
The Capen House does not provide tables, catering, etc. They do require using some of their preferred vendors and you have the option of some vendors such as the cake, florist, etc. This is something to factor into cost, but their preferred vendors are top tier so I imagine you would be in good hands with any of them.
We hired Hannah as our day-of coordinator and I cannot recommend this enough!!! I honestly can’t imagine pulling together this wedding without this service. They coordinated with all of our vendors to make sure our event went according or our vision, made sure our details and finishing touches were all worked out, brought up any questions we might not have anticipated and helped us figure out any outstanding needs, organized our rehearsal, and made sure we had every detail down for the big day. As someone who knew pretty much nothing about weddings before, the day-of coordination was probably the most valuable asset and it really helped having someone who works with the venue directly.
If you are considering the Capen House for your wedding, definitely check it out. I am still over the moon with how perfect our wedding was because of this venue and several of our guests told us it was the most beautiful wedding they had ever attended. This place really sets the scene for a fairytale day.
So I had a tour of this venue, that we drove 3 and 1/2 hours to come to, we ended up arriving early and I texted to ask if we could move up our appointment and it was totally fine if they couldn’t, they couldn’t because they had another couple touring, like I said totally fine! We show up at our appointment time and stand outside for 20 minutes past our appointment time, another couple arrived at the same time as us and was standing outside with us, after 20-25 minutes the girl doing the tour came out and apologized saying her tour before us ran over, then she asked names and realized it was our appointment time that got ran into and the other couple was supposed to be after us and showed up 30 minutes early to their appointment, then in front of this other couple asks me if they can “join our tour” and make it a double tour… this rubbed me the wrong way after we were told we could not arrive early because someone else was touring but this other couple could. It was a very awkward tour. In my opinion if they can’t even have viewing tours run smooth what are the chances they can have your wedding run smooth, also it’s so much cheaper than other venues because literally nothing is included (no chairs, lights, tables, etc) and after the tour nobody reached out, nobody said anything. Out of all the venues we toured this had to be the worse one with professionalism.
I cannot even put into words how amazing The Capen House made my wedding day. Katlyn was so responsive no matter what questions I had. I was able to do multiple walk throughs with my planner which also helped a ton. The venue is absolutely beautiful, and their preferred vendors are also phenomenal. If I could relive my wedding every day, I would!
I cannot say enough incredible things about the capen house. We worked directly with Katlyn who was an absolute dream to work with. They were so quick to respond to our thousands of questions throughout the planning process and were so great to work with on the day of. This venue has everything we wanted, an open feeling for our guests, beautiful grounds to explore, intimate dancing and the perfect lake view during dinner. You truly cannot find a better venue in Orlando for your big day.
Capen house made me want to get married here again and again!!! Beautiful and stunning view, everything that I dream for , all the stuff really help full and very responsive. All the preferred vendor that they recommended are great to work with
Love love this venue and highly recommended
The Capen House was an amazing venue to have our wedding at! The staff was so helpful and their vendor list helped me find several of my vendors that also ensured we had a perfect day. Katlyn was also very helpful in making contact with a few partners when I needed help. She is also incredibly knowledgeable!
What I like about Capen is that you can lay out your ceremony and reception areas pretty much however you like and use your own/your team’s creativity!
The only thing we had to be mindful of was the sound ordinance outside and getting our guests off premise by 9pm. So be mindful for your wedding start time so that you have plenty of time to celebrate! Thank you again Capen for a beautiful setting to a perfect day.
We had a smaller wedding of 45 people and this venue was perfect for us! We looked at what I feel like was every venue in the central Florida area before finding this gem. I love that it is on the water and their team of professionals is so great at answering questions and being there for you leading up to and on your big day. The venue is gorgeous with so many options for reception, cocktail hour, ceremony, etc. It fit our needs perfectly!
I can honestly say that my wedding was completely stress-free and absolutely beautiful. I could not imagine having my wedding anywhere else after touring Capen House. Everyone here at Capen, especially Katlyn, was so amazing. Communication was on point from start to finish which is a big thing for me! Plus, all of their preferred vendors wonderful to work with as well.
The perfect setting for our outdoor spring wedding. We fell in love with the Capen House as soon as we pulled in to the venue parking lot. The venue is gorgeous with beautiful gardens and sculptures outside and a cozy yet elegant feeling inside. We couldn’t be happier that we chose to say “I do” at Capen House.
I just want to thank Katlyn for making my day so easy. The Vendor's knew what to do and where to go. I had wedding by the lake and it was absolutely beautiful. My wedding was about 65 people but filled the space just perfectly. I look at the pictures and I get excited all over again. Capen House family thank you for everything!
Absolutely beautiful outside venue!
Kim, Denise, and the rest of the Capen House/Polasek museum crew were the most wonderful people to work with! We had a destination wedding in Florida (we are from TX) and they helped make the planning go as smooth as possible. So quick at responding to emails, providing necessary resources for us to plan our big day, and helping out as much as they could. To anyone even considering this as an option, I recommend it 10/10!

Thank you so much, Briana! It has been such a pleasure working with you, too -- I'm thrilled your day was just as special as you hoped! Please come by and visit next time you are in town. Wishing you both every happiness!
Our wedding day was a dream at the Capen house! We loved the home, gardens, bridal suite, and lake views!
Because this is a historic home, there are strict rules that come with this venue, but I will tell you that navigating around these is doable and is SO worth it! Our photographers kept commenting that every inch of this property made for a beautiful shot - it’s gorgeous here! The location also can’t be beat - our guests loved spending the weekend in winter park, and we were able to book a trolley for a short ride to our after party on park Avenue. The required vendors for catering and rentals are lovely options and we had no issues working within this parameters. All in all, would highly recommend this venue!

Thank you, Sydney, for your wonderful review! I'm so happy that your amazing creativity was able to shine throughout your wedding and reception here. You have such flair -- I loved working with you and will think of you every Leap Day! Wishi...
ng you both health and happiness in the years ahead!
We worked with Kim on our wedding (roughly 100 guests). Kim and her team were wonderful and allowed us to visit the venue many times leading up to the wedding to make a plan for the day of. The venue was in great shape and we really enjoyed celebrating our wedding there. Kim was flexible and offered help to us with each of our vendors. The only note to be aware of is that you can only use acoustic music (no speakers) outdoors- this worked perfectly for us and wasn't an issue whatsoever. Thank you to Kim and her team!

It was such a pleasure to work with you and Tanner and I'm so pleased that your wedding day was as special as you had planned! You are an amazing couple and I wish you much love, laughter and happiness together.
The Capen House is stunning! We loved the variety of areas that gave a lovely flow from ceremony to reception without feeling too expansive for our intimate wedding (under 50 people). A big sell for us (aside from the gorgeous gardens and great indoor and outdoor options) was having the Scenic Boat Tour that could pick guests up from the dock and show off historic Winter Park! The staff was so sweet and helpful and worked with us on everything we needed. We also love that the funds go towards maintaining this beautiful, historic Florida house. Such a unique and fun venue!
I booked this venue for our ceremony over two years in advance because this house has a special meaning to my family. I worked very closely with Kim over those two years and the venue was fantastic the day of the wedding. Kim was fantastic about answering any of my questions and making sure everything went off without a hitch! We wanted to have our ceremony outside and the staff were very flexible with my last minute changes. The pictures turned out beautifully! The Capen house has a bridal sweet and an area where the groom and groomsmen can hang out with plenty of bathrooms. They also have a kitchen with a fridge to put water, soda, and champagne in. The venue does have a required vendor list for rented items, which didn't bother us since we were only having the ceremony there and we just needed chairs and a tent. Overall, I would highly recommend The Capen House at a spectacular venue for your future ceremony!

A huge thank you to Kim and all of the staff at The Capen House. We held our wedding there and it could not have been a more perfect day. Kim was very communicative throughout the whole process and was so accomodating to help us get everything just right the day of. The venue itself is gorgeous...from the gardens outside with the lake as a backdrop to the interior of the house with its beautiful hardwood floors. My guests are still commenting on how lovely the venue was.
Kim was my contact for organizing my wedding. She was on top of keeping in contact with all my vendors and making sure I got as many tours as I needed. The pictures don't do this venue justice. You really have to go and see it for yourself. The grounds are beautiful with all the sculptures to look at and overlooking the lake. The Capen House is gorgeous! The history behind the home, and the grounds of the museum, is what sold us on this venue. Denise, who coordinated and worked my wedding, was just absolutely amazing. She not only worked with the DJ to make sure everything was on time but she also made sure I was okay at all time. She was such a joy to talk to and made me feel so secure about my wedding. When it was my turn to walk down the aisle, I started to cry and get nervous. She gave me the words I needed to hear and the courage to get down to the alter. I would consider her an angel and the perfect person to work my wedding. My wedding was more than I could have ever expected because of this venue and my guests were in awe. Highly recommend this venue for wedding and corporate events.
We were married on October 15, 2016 - we had a mid-morning ceremony outdoors in the sculpture garden behind the museum, overlooking the lake (facing the big live oak tree) and then a brunch reception that was indoor/outdoor at the Capen House. We booked a tent to go over the brick patio so that our guests could be in the shade and as a back-up plan in case of rain. We couldn't have been more pleased with our choice of venue! The setting is absolutely gorgeous, the garden was in full bloom and it felt a world away from everything around it. The Capen House is a beautifully restored historic home - it was so elegant and comfortable. There is a parlour with attached bathroom in the house that was the perfect place for my bridesmaids and me to get ready beforehand. Kim, the event planner, was very kind and easy to work with and the Polasek's day-of coordinator and staff were so incredibly helpful and cheery. All of our guests are still talking about how beautiful the setting was!
I was married here and had the ceremony ONLY on June 7, 2014.
The lakeside garden's view is picture perfect for photographs. The gardens are spectacular and were in full bloom for the wedding. The staff is friendly and easy to work with. As a thank you the museum gave my husband and me a one year membership to return as often as we would like. Note: The museum doesn't have a place for the bride to get ready on site. We hired a limo for transportation and to have an air conditioned place for the ladies to relax in before the ceremony. Also, they have a strict list of vendors to choose from. I suggest Levan's Catering from the list for your catering and rental needs.
We ha our wedding ceremony here in the side garden. It was the perfect place because I wanted to get married in the lakes in winter park and the beautiful garden was shaded and relaxed. They have a very specific list of vendors that you can use because of the insurance involved with working around their art. The event manager changed three times since I put my deposit down. I felt like they had strict rules but no one knew what they were and essentially let us break them. I was not crazy about their service. Their ever person, Kim, was supposed to be there the day of the wedding but she wasn't. She sent her friend in here place. There isn't much of a staging area for the bride. They told me I could just wait by the bathrooms. Luckily one of the volunteers went to high school with a bridesmaid and let us sit in the chapel but reminded us that he would probably get in trouble for it a few times. Overall I was not satisfied with the service but loved the location.
We got married in the main gardens here on May 18, 2013 at 6:00pm. It was absolutely beautiful and we were so happy with our choice of picking the Polasek as our venue. All of our out of town guests who had never been to Winter Park were very impressed.
I just booked my ceremony and reception at Polasek and am just THRILLED! The gardens are beautiful and the staff is SO nice :) I can't wait for my big day!
