From our initial inquiry, everything went as smooth as could be! The communication was always very quick and we felt in the loop throughout the entire process. We chose buffet style and were able to choose many options within our price tier! The food was somehow even better than at our initial tasting!! The prices are SO affordable and you really get everything you need with this company. They are one of the few Pgh caterers I found who also include plates, glassware, silverware etc into the price. Everyone LOVED their meals. We are extremely happy we chose the chef and I!

They did such a great job for our wedding day! I am an incredibly picky eater with a lot of food aversions, and they were so understanding and accommodating towards me! It was greatly appreciated, and i didn’t feel judged. The food was so delicious as well! There are a ton of options for everyone, and they were so great with communication. Would 100% recommend!

Our experience with The Chef and I for our wedding catering was top-notch! Nikki was our main contact and she was awesome from start to finish. We are so incredibly happy we went with the Chef and I!!!! They were amazing! Everyone from the wedding commented on how great the food was!!!! Especially the green beans with bacon! The staff was super nice and thoughtful. They were always asking if we needed anything. Even when they were setting up it was a great experience. The cookie table looked awesome thanks to them plating everything for us. We had around 300 people at the wedding and everyone got their food so fast!!!! Overall I wouldn't have changed a thing. I highly highly recommend choosing the Chef and I!!!!

We had them for our wedding and the food was amazing! Everyone kept commenting for weeks how good the food was and I could not have agreed more. They were the most professional with our food tasting. Made it very easy to change things for being gluten free. Loved that real plates and silverware and did not have to pay and arm and a leg for the upgrade. Highly recommend.

We received many compliments about the food. We served stuffed chicken breasts, carved beef, vegetables, potatoes, and a garlic/tomato pasta. The late night snack of nachos was a hit.

The team and the Chef and I went above and beyond to help us for our 6-1-24 wedding. They toured and visited a new venue for us to make sure they could accommodate, gave us a menu that worked for us, and were incredibly affordable. We did buffet style, and everything was still juicy and great. Usually with buffets things dry out, but this wasn’t the case! Our guests had great things to say - especially about the Chicken Elizabeth, smashed potatoes, and Sherry cinnamon carrots. The option to add on cookie traying to our package was a godsend and took so much pressure off us. They’re are affordable, go above and beyond, and most of all, serve delicious food!

The Chef and I were courteous and professional from day 1. An excellent tasting followed by clear expectations about services and pricing. They helped accommodate a smaller wedding than they usual cater for, which was appreciated. There are also numerous gluten-free options which was a bonus to many in our friend and family group. The food itself was phenomenal (smashed potatoes with flavor from a wedding caterer??). They also had some options I hadn't seen from other vendors before (their tandoori chicken appetizers were what finally sold us on them). Reception service went off without a hitch, and that was after a cocktail hour with passed apps that guest raved about. Good price for the quality and service. Would recommend them to anyone.

Their food was absolutely delicious and at reasonable prices! The menu has plenty of diversity and you cannot go wrong with anything you choose. The team was so helpful and easy to work with throughout the planning process. On the day of our wedding, they were professional and made sure the bride and groom were well taken care of during the ceremony. They also provided cocktail hour appetizers to the bridal party to snack on while taking pictures as they knew we would not be attending cocktail hour. My husband and I cannot say enough great things about this company! Definitely a must have for your wedding catering needs!

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about our experience with The Chef and I! Our 160-person plated dinner wedding was flawless and our guests raved about how delicious the food was! They were able to accommodate several different dietary restrictions for our guests and made a couple last-minute adjustments for us when we had an unexpected change! All in all, they were great to work with and delivered a delicious dinner! I’d recommend them to anyone.

We were recommended The Chef and I from our venue, Yinzer Valley Farms. Decided to go in for a tasting and were extremely happy with the quality of the food… We went with lemon garlic sirloin, chicken romano, signature potatoes, vegetables, and angel hair with tomatoes and garlic oil. All of our quests RAVED about the signature potatoes all night! We were also very happy with the amount of gluten free options, as we had many gluten free quests in attendance, they were all very impressed with the foods quality, and thankful they were considered. Every staff member we worked with and talked to was extremely professional and quick to respond with any concerns. Thank you so much to the entire catering team!!

The pricing and details were given right from the start and even with the changes I made they were able to update everything quickly. Everything at the wedding was delicious! When we went for our tasting, the food was absolutely delicious and we just knew we had to hire them for our wedding! We did buffet style, and knowing cooking for a large party is tricky the buffet was still good! However, there were small pieces of bone from the chicken and the green beans were a little soggy. That is to be expected with large portions and travel. They were excellent with dismissing tables and providing my husband and I with a plate of food! They made the day less stressful and the staff was very kind as well.

Communications was excellent, they always responded promptly and were very helpful when I had alot of questions. They were detailed oriented and by the time the wedding arrived, I didn’t worry at all that they would do a great job, and they did. They had all the fine details taken care of! Coordinating between the venue and caterer was very smooth. Overall, I would highly recommend for any catered event.

We had communicated with the other preferred caterers and found The Chef and I to be the most affordable and they had great food options! We decided to go with their stations option and everyone has raved about the food and how unique the station idea was. They were very responsive, answered all of our questions, and made the food selection easy. Everything was delicious and I would definitely book them again. Their staff was very attentive, and even helped my husband's grandparents (who are not so mobile) get food. His grandparents felt extra special with the thoughtful consideration from the staff. The food was AMAZING - so many of our guests commented on how good it was! They were easy to work with and very helpful. Apparently there were a couple of hiccups but we would have had no idea if it weren't for staff coming up to us at the end of the night. From start to finish The Chef and I was wonderful! Their communication was great and they were quick to respond to emails, and answered any and all questions we had (via email or phone). They made scheduling a tasting a breeze and it was the best experience we had with tastings after meeting with 2 other caterers. We had the chef and I. Our facility could only do a Buffet, but the food was perfect delivered warm and tasty. The staff were wonderful. They came in and welcomed us and you didn’t know they were there but you knew everything ran smoothly. I would highly recommend them. The food is delicious and the price is very reasonable. My son will be using them for his wedding next year.

I cannot begin to tell you how many compliments we had gotten on our wedding day and even after about how wonderful the food was. When we went around to thank our friends and family for coming to our wedding just about every plate was empty on the table. They set up everything perfectly the day before my wedding and filled all of our cookies the day of the wedding. They were wonderful to work with as well. I highly recommend!

The food was delicious, everything ran smoothly, and they were very accommodating and easy to work with! The Chef and I Catering catered our wedding last weekend at Lingrow Farm and they were absolutely amazing from the food to the staff. Before getting married I had so many people tell me I wouldn't get a chance to eat the food we picked the night of the wedding but their staff did such a great job seeking us out with the appetizers and providing us with our very own platters of it and also filling up plates for us at the buffet so we didn't have to do it ourselves. The food was so good and I had so much of it I was struggling to finish what was on my plate. We got so many compliments from our guests on how great the food was as well. Not only were they great the day of the wedding but in all the steps leading up. They were great at communicating and helping with the timing of events and helping us to come up with the perfect menu for the event working around food restrictions for some of the guests as well. When we went to do the tasting with them we had selected some things we wanted to try and they had added the Chicken Romano for us to try as it is a customer favorite. We absolutely loved it and are so grateful for the recommendation! We have also been enjoying leftovers all week and look forward to more of the chicken for dinner tonight! I am so glad we had them as our caterers and I am so grateful to them for helping to make our wedding perfect!

They were great to work with! Every ask I had, they made it happen from cutting our cake and serving it to adding a nacho bar for a late night snack for guests. This is a full service caterer for a great price, highly recommend. Also Nikki was wonderful to work with throughout the planning process, including our tasting. We worked with The Chef & I for our wedding at Soldiers & Sailors in early 2022, and everything went beautifully. We sought quotes from a few different caterers, and what we liked about The Chef & I was how transparent and straightforward they were: everything you'd need for a catered meal was included in their total cost (linens, flatware, servers, etc.), and available alternatives and upgrades were all clearly listed in the contract. They were great at handling extras, including a complicated cookie table (ours had baklava in addition to the traditional Pittsburgh treats) and a delivery of 16 pizzas late at night from our local pizzeria. Most importantly, everyone loved the dinner, and The Chef & I did a very professional job of ensuring that every guest's allergies and dietary restrictions were accounted for.

We chose the Chef & I to cater our wedding at Soldiers & Sailors. With COVID, we postponed our wedding from December 2020 to November 2021. Through all of the worry and stress of moving our dates, Nikki at Chef& I was always responsive and accommodating throughout the whole process. When it comes to the food, we can't fit all of the complements we received the night of the wedding into this review! The steak was cooked perfectly for over 100 of our guests, the chicken was superb, and the vegetarian was "the best they've ever had". The service, set-up and cleanup were all seamless and the passed and plated appetizers all came out quickly and hot. The cookie table set up was beautiful and never left a tray empty. We can't say enough about how much Chef & I made our wedding day even better than we imagined.
