The Chef and I Catering by A Grand Affair

The team and the Chef and I went above and beyond to help us for our 6-1-24 wedding. They toured and visited a new venue for us to make sure they could accommodate, gave us a menu that worked for us, and were incredibly affordable. We did buffet style, and everything was still juicy and great. Usually with buffets things dry out, but this wasn’t the case! Our guests had great things to say - especially about the Chicken Elizabeth, smashed potatoes, and Sherry cinnamon carrots. The option to add on cookie traying to our package was a godsend and took so much pressure off us. They’re are affordable, go above and beyond, and most of all, serve delicious food!

The Chef and I was great choice for my wedding. Our food was delicious, our guests loved it but most importantly my wife and I did as well!

Food was amazing and staff was awesome, only complaint I have was I did they them a couple of times that my husband was allergic to tomatoes and any type of been and the staff brought him a plate with both on it and said we never told them he had allergies but was quick to take it back and make him a new plate

The Chef and I were courteous and professional from day 1. An excellent tasting followed by clear expectations about services and pricing. They helped accommodate a smaller wedding than they usual cater for, which was appreciated. There are also numerous gluten-free options which was a bonus to many in our friend and family group. The food itself was phenomenal (smashed potatoes with flavor from a wedding caterer??). They also had some options I hadn't seen from other vendors before (their tandoori chicken appetizers were what finally sold us on them). Reception service went off without a hitch, and that was after a cocktail hour with passed apps that guest raved about. Good price for the quality and service. Would recommend them to anyone.

Their food was absolutely delicious and at reasonable prices! The menu has plenty of diversity and you cannot go wrong with anything you choose. The team was so helpful and easy to work with throughout the planning process. On the day of our wedding, they were professional and made sure the bride and groom were well taken care of during the ceremony. They also provided cocktail hour appetizers to the bridal party to snack on while taking pictures as they knew we would not be attending cocktail hour. My husband and I cannot say enough great things about this company! Definitely a must have for your wedding catering needs!

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about our experience with The Chef and I! Our 160-person plated dinner wedding was flawless and our guests raved about how delicious the food was! They were able to accommodate several different dietary restrictions for our guests and made a couple last-minute adjustments for us when we had an unexpected change! All in all, they were great to work with and delivered a delicious dinner! I’d recommend them to anyone.

We used the Chef & I for our May 2024 wedding at The Grand Estate at Hidden Acres. We cannot say enough how thankful we are for everything they did! They were so easy to work with, from our taste testing to the day of the wedding. Everyone raved about the food. So glad we had some leftovers to enjoy the next day! Thank you again for everything.

We were recommended The Chef and I from our venue, Yinzer Valley Farms. Decided to go in for a tasting and were extremely happy with the quality of the food… We went with lemon garlic sirloin, chicken romano, signature potatoes, vegetables, and angel hair with tomatoes and garlic oil. All of our quests RAVED about the signature potatoes all night! We were also very happy with the amount of gluten free options, as we had many gluten free quests in attendance, they were all very impressed with the foods quality, and thankful they were considered. Every staff member we worked with and talked to was extremely professional and quick to respond with any concerns. Thank you so much to the entire catering team!!

We had our wedding at Yinzer Valley Farms in Mount Pleasant, PA, and Chef & I was one of the recommended caterers. After looking at their menu, we scheduled a tasting. Everything from the food to the service was amazing and we knew we wanted to have them cater our wedding. Will definitely be recommended them in the future!

The Chef and I were a great choice for our wedding! They were incredibly easy to work with from the beginning. The pricing and details were given right from the start and even with the changes I made they were able to update everything quickly. Everything at the wedding was delicious! We got so many compliments about the chicken Romano and the stuffed portobello mushroom dinner entrees! I am happy to have had them with us on our big day!

When we went for our tasting, the food was absolutely delicious and we just knew we had to hire them for our wedding! We did buffet style, and knowing cooking for a large party is tricky the buffet was still good! However, there were small pieces of bone from the chicken and the green beans were a little soggy. That is to be expected with large portions and travel. They were excellent with dismissing tables and providing my husband and I with a plate of food! They made the day less stressful and the staff was very kind as well.

We had Chef and I catering for our wedding this past Saturday and it was absolutely amazing. Everything was taken care of such as the linens, replenishing our cookie table, clean up, and the food was absolutely incredible. We were so incredibly happy with everything that was provided by them. I highly recommend them for any wedding!!

The Chef and I catered our daughter’s wedding in August. The food was delicious! They were very professional. Communications was excellent, they always responded promptly and were very helpful when I had alot of questions. They were detailed oriented and by the time the wedding arrived, I didn’t worry at all that they would do a great job, and they did. They had all the fine details taken care of! Coordinating between the venue and caterer was very smooth. Overall, I would highly recommend for any catered event.

Our daughter was married at Soldiers and Sailors Hall. We met with Nikki and she did an excellent job asking us about every detail. The staff was very attentive and made sure everything went smoothly. I can’t say enough positive things about the whole experience!

Nikki was great to work with while planning the catering for our wedding. Our menu tasting was thorough and detail-oriented, and we appreciated all the thought that went into it. We had a few guests at our wedding with dietary needs (gluten-free, vegetarian), and they were well-accommodated. We were so pleased with the quality of the food, as well. We thought the food on the day of our wedding was even better than the food at our tasting (which was great, to begin with). We are happily working our way through the leftovers!

We found The Chef and I Catering through our venue (Soldiers & Sailors) because they were one of the preferred vendors. We had communicated with the other preferred caterers and found The Chef and I to be the most affordable and they had great food options! We decided to go with their stations option and everyone has raved about the food and how unique the station idea was. They were very responsive, answered all of our questions, and made the food selection easy. Everything was delicious and I would definitely book them again. Their staff was very attentive, and even helped my husband's grandparents (who are not so mobile) get food. His grandparents felt extra special with the thoughtful consideration from the staff. From start to finish, the process was very easy and YUMMY!

The Chef and I catered our wedding at Lingrow Farm in Leechburg, PA, and they were absolutely phenomenal. From the initial meetings and logistics to the execution at the wedding to the quality of the food, everything was as amazing as we could have imagined! They were very professional with setup, serving, and cleanup, and their packages that covered a range of food and cost options were perfect. Nikki was also very responsive and accommodating to us anytime we had to make changes to our package, which gave us confidence heading into the wedding day.

We hired The Chef and I for our wedding at Soldiers & Sailors on 6/17/23. Nikki was so helpful leading up to our wedding and answered all of our questions. When we had our initial call- I was completely lost on what would be the best options for our menu. She walked me through everything and gave recommendations. The service the day of was exceptional, and I had so many people come up to me to say how good the food was!! I would highly recommend them!

The food was AMAZING - so many of our guests commented on how good it was! They were easy to work with and very helpful. Apparently there were a couple of hiccups but we would have had no idea if it weren't for staff coming up to us at the end of the night. They were so apologetic and felt so bad - like I said, we had no clue! And the hiccups weren't even their fault! I would 100% use this caterer again and recommend to anyone looking for a wedding coordinator!

From start to finish The Chef and I was wonderful! Their communication was great and they were quick to respond to emails, and answered any and all questions we had (via email or phone). They made scheduling a tasting a breeze and it was the best experience we had with tastings after meeting with 2 other caterers. The food was delicious, execution went smoothly and the guests truly enjoyed their meals! I even had several guests approach me and share how nice it was that the staff came around to the tables and spoke with them during dinner, it was a lovely and unexpected special touch that was appreciated. 5 stars!!!!

We had the chef and I. Our facility could only do a Buffet, but the food was perfect delivered warm and tasty. The staff were wonderful. They came in and welcomed us and you didn’t know they were there but you knew everything ran smoothly. I would highly recommend them. The food is delicious and the price is very reasonable. My son will be using them for his wedding next year.

The food provided by The Chef and I Catering for my wedding was absolutely delicious. I cannot begin to tell you how many compliments we had gotten on our wedding day and even after about how wonderful the food was. When we went around to thank our friends and family for coming to our wedding just about every plate was empty on the table. They set up everything perfectly the day before my wedding and filled all of our cookies the day of the wedding. They were wonderful to work with as well. I highly recommend!

The chef and I catered our wedding last weekend at the Pittsburgh shrine center and we’ve gotten SO MANY compliments on the food! The food was delicious, everything ran smoothly, and they were very accommodating and easy to work with! They also have a menu with lots of gluten free options and our GF guests were able to eat right off of our buffet - no specialty plates needed!

The Chef and I Catering catered our wedding last weekend at Lingrow Farm and they were absolutely amazing from the food to the staff. Before getting married I had so many people tell me I wouldn't get a chance to eat the food we picked the night of the wedding but their staff did such a great job seeking us out with the appetizers and providing us with our very own platters of it and also filling up plates for us at the buffet so we didn't have to do it ourselves. The food was so good and I had so much of it I was struggling to finish what was on my plate. We got so many compliments from our guests on how great the food was as well. Not only were they great the day of the wedding but in all the steps leading up. They were great at communicating and helping with the timing of events and helping us to come up with the perfect menu for the event working around food restrictions for some of the guests as well. When we went to do the tasting with them we had selected some things we wanted to try and they had added the Chicken Romano for us to try as it is a customer favorite. We absolutely loved it and are so grateful for the recommendation! We have also been enjoying leftovers all week and look forward to more of the chicken for dinner tonight! I am so glad we had them as our caterers and I am so grateful to them for helping to make our wedding perfect!

Chef and I Catering did a fabulous job at our wedding at West Overton Village. It's a tough venue as there is no real kitchen, but you would never know it. The staff was professional and did everything possible to make our night seamless.

They were great to work with! Every ask I had, they made it happen from cutting our cake and serving it to adding a nacho bar for a late night snack for guests. This is a full service caterer for a great price, highly recommend. Also Nikki was wonderful to work with throughout the planning process, including our tasting. The food was amazing, that chicken Romano is the best I’ve ever had.

Wow! Chef and I catering catered our wedding reception 9-17-22 and it was absolutely delicious!! Everyone went on and on about how good it was. Chef & I catered our wedding at Soldiers & Sailors and we couldn't have been more pleased with how everything went! We did a station style service with five separate stations for guests to choose from. All feedback we received was that the food was fantastic. The Chef and I catered our wedding at Soldiers and Sailors on April 16, 2022. Our experience with them was outstanding. I have celiac disease (as well as a number of some of our guests), and they were able to provide options for us. We had raving reviews from guests about how great the food was. We worked with The Chef & I for our wedding at Soldiers & Sailors in early 2022, and everything went beautifully. We sought quotes from a few different caterers, and what we liked about The Chef & I was how transparent and straightforward they were: everything you'd need for a catered meal was included in their total cost (linens, flatware, servers, etc.), and available alternatives and upgrades were all clearly listed in the contract. They were great at handling extras, including a complicated cookie table (ours had baklava in addition to the traditional Pittsburgh treats) and a delivery of 16 pizzas late at night from our local pizzeria. Most importantly, everyone loved the dinner, and The Chef & I did a very professional job of ensuring that every guest's allergies and dietary restrictions were accounted for.

We chose the Chef & I to cater our wedding at Soldiers & Sailors. With COVID, we postponed our wedding from December 2020 to November 2021. Through all of the worry and stress of moving our dates, Nikki at Chef& I was always responsive and accommodating throughout the whole process. When it comes to the food, we can't fit all of the complements we received the night of the wedding into this review! The steak was cooked perfectly for over 100 of our guests, the chicken was superb, and the vegetarian was "the best they've ever had". The service, set-up and cleanup were all seamless and the passed and plated appetizers all came out quickly and hot. The cookie table set up was beautiful and never left a tray empty. We can't say enough about how much Chef & I made our wedding day even better than we imagined.

First of all- the tasting was incredible! Everything was done up for us to really experience the foods and try everything with our families! Then- everything leading up to the wedding was super smooth and they answered all of our questions. On our day, the food was delicious and we had to worry about 0 decisions or problems!

I am so happy we were able to work with The Chef and I at our wedding. We were yet another couple who had to move our wedding date twice because of COVID, but we finally were able to have our special day September of 2021 at Soldiers and Sailors. We had our tasting months before the onset of the pandemic, and it was a great experience. The Chef and I team was prepared for us, and I was impressed at how many things we got to try. Best of all, everything was delicious. As the months passed and we were in a frenzy of new dates and changes, Nikki was always accommodating and available to answer any questions. When the day finally came, I was impressed by how professional and well organized the staff was. I did not have to worry once about anything food related. It is truly a talented team of individuals. The Chef and I always made sure we had food and water in the "getting ready room" while we were waiting for the ceremony and introductions. We enjoyed the passed appetizers so much and the dinner tasted just like we remembered from the tasting. We received so many compliments from our guests about how delicious the food was. The Chef and I also set up our our cookies and desserts on one of the tables. I was so impressed by how nicely they arranged everything (and there was a lot of cookies and desserts of all sizes). I had my 7 week old daughter with me on my wedding day (thanks COVID), and The Chef and I went above and beyond to help us wash and heat up bottles. I am truly grateful for that. Pricing was very reasonable, and all the details were always clear in any document Nikki would send us. I would highly recommend the Chef and I!

Planning a wedding during a pandemic had it's challenges, but The Chef & I, especially Kris & Nikki, made sure to always make me feel like we would pivot if needed. They were one of the preferred caterers for the venue and after researching many of them, we chose Chef & I because of their responsiveness, helpful information, many packages/options to customize and fit many budgets. The tasting was very thorough and professional and everything was delicious! We had a seated, plated meal of Filet and Chicken Romano. Guests are still raving about how wonderful the food was! They have a wonderful staff and management team, would highly recommend!

The Chef and I were so accommodating from day one. We had initially scheduled our tasting before we went into lockdown, and when we went in lockdown, I thought we would have to cancel our tasting altogether, but NOPE! The chef hand-delivered our food for tasting so we could do a virtual tasting with Nikki via Zoom. We were sold with just that; the food being amazing felt like a bonus at that point. The day of the wedding went without a hitch, and I was so grateful to have a hot plate of delicious food at our reception, and they didn’t disappoint. I had a filet of beef, and my husband had the chicken; we both were looking for seconds before most of our guests had even finished! Ha!

Absolutely amazing catering company. Their food is scrumptious, pricing extremely reasonable, staff is friendly and helpful! Nikki was a godsend through COVID. Every request we had, she said “Yes”. We asked for 3 vegan meals a week before the wedding, it was no problem! We received so many compliments on the food as well. Something that’s sets them apart: China and linens are included in the cost!

THIS FOOD IS INCREDIBLE. we are over a month out from our wedding and we have guests STILL calling us telling us how amazing the food was at our wedding. we have had a couple of family weddings since then, and so many people have mentioned that our food was so much better than anything they had ever had. We did the stations options, which was SO fun and our guests loved it! we got to pick so many different options for food, everyone got something that they loved. our food tasting with Nikki was also absolutely amazing. Chef gave us SO much food, we had leftovers for days! the chef and I was definitely one of the BEST decisions we made regarding our wedding.

We wanted the dinner service to be formal, elegant, classy, and delicious and The Chef and I exceeded our expectations in every way! We made several adjustments in the last few months as we postponed our wedding date and then worked to meet new Covid-19 guidelines, and The Chef and I were very helpful throughout the process. The staff at Chef and I Catering was helpful, responsive, and easy to work with, and the food was delicious and affordable. After tasting the food, we decided on the option with stations. Even with 300 guests to serve, the stations moved efficiently and quickly. Two months after our wedding, we are receiving compliments from our satisfied guests about the food and the kind wait-staff.

Let me start with how happy we were when we woke up and ate the “doggy bags” the caterer made up for my wife and I. It was a truly a life saver! They also pack up all of the extra uneaten food for our family to take home. The staff was professional, friendly, and very helpful. Most importantly the price was right, we got a lot for our money. They even supply table clothes and napkins. Trust me you won’t be disappointed!

kris nikki and his staff went above and beyond to make our day extra special. i still have family and friends complimenting the food! prices are affordable. the entire staff was friendly.

Let me say wow! What an excellent experience. Everyone was amazing including the serving staff. From start to finish, everything was great. The food was absolutely amazing, everyone loved everything we had from the Chicken Marsala down to the mashed potatoes! Kris, Nikki, and everyone else I spoke with were professional and very helpful in the very stressful process. They made it easy for me and I will use them again in the future. I definitely recommend them.

Chef and I Catering was the best choice we made for our big day!! Food was amazing (all of our guests raved about it & no one left hungry!), the entire staff was so helpful & kind and was a huge part of why our wedding day went so smoothly! I wanted to thank you and your staff for doing great job with our daughter's reception. Not only was the food excellent but so was your staff. We asked for a few guests be served. Not only were they served, but they took the time to tell my mother-in-law who is vision impaired what was on the plate and where it was on the plate. I thought that was very nice and above and beyond. We received so many compliments on the the food and how professional your staff was. We would definitely recommend you to anyone looking for a caterer.

The entire staff was amazing and so easy to work with! We never had a problem getting in touch with them if we had questions, comments, concerns. They provided a beautiful tasting for us and our parents with so much leftovers to take home and continue enjoying. The food at our wedding was a huge hit and we got a lot of compliments on how delicious everything was!

Nikki and Kristopher were absolutely amazing to work with. Our wedding at soldiers and sailors memorial was GORGEOUS and effortless because of them. Nikki is so professional and organized. Both Nikki and Kristopher were so easy to get in touch with any time we needed to chat during the wedding planning process. They communicated at the beginning of our contract the dates that they would check in with us, and they checked in right on schedule every single time! I felt so confident everything was going to be taken care of, I didn't feel any stress the day of the wedding. Nikki made sure everything was beautifully set up on the day before the wedding and Kristopher checked in with me several times during cocktail hour to make sure we had enough appetizers in the board room and everything was flowing according to plan. The food was absolutely AMAZING and came out hot and at the exact right time it was supposed to come out. The room was served in less than 10 minutes for almost 150 guests. It was amazing working with the Chef & I and I HIGHLY recommend them to Soldier's & Sailors brides.

Fantastic! The amount of people that bragged about our food at the wedding was awesome. The Chef and I was absolutely amazing to work with and so kind throughout the whole process - from our tasting to our wedding day and anything in between, they were so accommodating and truth provided one of the best meals we’ve had at a wedding. They were efficient and set up everything in a ballroom for over 300 people so beautifully and perfect. The staff was extremely polite. They trayed all 1,000+ cookies of ours - which meant a lot since it took a load off of us! I come from a big Italian family with many outstanding cooks, and they were blown away at how wonderful the meal was (especially the brajole!) highly highly recommend them to anyway! Their price was also very affordable which was a huge bonus for us - otherwise we truthfully might not have been able to have our wedding where we did!

The Chef & I Catering provided amazing food for our wedding. We loved everything. The only issue we had was it is very hard to get in contact with them.

We had so many compliments from our guests on the food! Everyone we worked with was so kind and helpful! We were impressed right away with the beautiful taste testing we had. We had other catering companies we were going to try. Once we sat down with The Chef and I, we knew we wanted them to be part of the wedding. We canceled our other appointments.

I can’t begin to explain how kind, professional, and reasonably priced The Chef and I is!! We had them cater other events after their spectacular job at our wedding!! Any question I had was answered right away in a detailed fashion! Knowing they were in charge put my mind at ease. They even set aside a meal for my husband and me, knowing we really wouldn’t have a chance to eat. We ate it that night! From the moment I called to arrange the taste test until the day after the wedding, I was impressed!! I 100% recommended these professional, kind people!

The food during the initial tasting was absolutely fantastic. However, our big day...not so much. It was probably only the my husband and I (plus our parents, the ones at the initial tasting) that noticed but the food quality was not the same. The "stuffed" pork chop...was indeed not stuffed but rather a flat piece of meat with stuffing served beside. Also, it takes several unanswered emails, before someone answers your questions. Our guest were happy...and I guess thats all that matters. Over all it was and ok experience.

We were very impressed with the professionalism and attention to detail from the tasting all the way through to our wedding reception. The food was amazing and our guests loved the beef tips and chicken romano. The tables were beautifully set and the service staff were friendly and helpful in packaging up leftovers. We would certainly recommend the Chef and I catering to anyone planning their wedding reception!

Hands down, the best caterer you can get. The whole Chef & I team went above and beyond with every little detail and made sure that we and our guests were taken care of. One of the highlights of our night was the food! Everyone raved about it! I will aslways reccomend Kristopher and his team :) Thank you for a job well done and making our dreams come true!
