Sonterra Country Club was the perfect setting for our big day. I am thrilled with our experience with Sonterra Country Club! We got married in March 2018. We had the ceremony outside, and the reception afterward in the grand ballroom. Athena and all of the people helping us through the process were wonderful. They were responsive through email and phone calls for my many questions, they made the venue available for us on multiple occasions to visit as part of the planning process, they knew exactly what to do, when, and how to do it. They made the process, and the day itself, run like a well oiled machine. On the day of, everything ran on time and smoothly, so that we could enjoy the day. The venue was gorgeous, the guests loved the food and I am so grateful for them going so far to make our wedding day so PERFECT. I can’t recommend it highly enough!”
I could not have asked for a better or more beautiful wedding venue! Athena was prompt with all her responses, so easy to work with and went above and beyond for my Fiancee and I. She addressed every concern that we had and helped make my French Fry station come to life! The vendors that work with the Sonterra to personalize your wedding were unbelievable and made everything sparkle. My family felt so welcome by the staff and the staff were quick to assist them in whatever they needed. Athena and her team had all of their ducks in a row and I didn't have to worry about a single thing. I was so happy with my wedding day and wouldn't change a single detail. I highly recommend the Club at Sonterra for anyone wanting their fairytail wedding to come to life.
My husband and I could not be more pleased with selecting this location for our wedding. From start to finish Athena was there for us and answering any random questions or concerns that would arise. The entire event was perfectly executed and we did not have to worry about a thing the entire time. I would highly recommend having your wedding here. We only toured one other venue before we fell in love with The Club at Sonterra. We wanted a venue that had a ballroom with access to a outdoor patio where our guests could hang out outside if they wanted to and Sonterra had just that! Athena Nolan was our coordinator and she was amazing! She was so fun and easy to work with and made sure we didn't have to stress at all. Before I could even think stressing out over something, Athena would have already called or emailed me about the situation. The best thing about this venue (besides Athena) was that it was all inclusive so it made our lives 100% easier! Athena and her staff made sure everything was perfect and it definitely was. The food was amazing as well. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect wedding and everyone had an amazing time. We even had people come up to us and tell us they would have their wedding at Sonterra in a heart beat. Thank you a million for making our wedding amazing!!!
My husband and I had our wedding at The Club at Sonterra this past weekend, and it was absolutely PERFECT in every way! The Club at Sonterra has all inclusive packages. No worrying about the tables, chairs, linens, food, bar, etc. What more could a bride ask for? Athena is an amazing coordinator, and I can’t thank her enough for everything she did throughout the year prior to the wedding, especially the couple of weeks before and the day of! She was so very helpful with anything I needed, and was there to make sure everything got set up perfectly when I wasn’t there! I would HIGHLY recommend The Club at Sonterra! Oh, and did I mention the venue is absolutely gorgeous!!? Thanks again, Athena!!!!
I highly recommend this venue! My husband and I couldn't be more thankful to Athena and her staff. As a bride you have so many things to worry about and the one thing I didn't want to stress about was the venue. The club at sonterra/staff made this process so easy for us, this place is an "ALL ENCLUSIVE PACKAGE" need I say more!?! You don't have to worry about finding someone with a liquor license or caterer or linens among other things. Athena is a great coordinator and was helpful everystep of the way and the day of the wedding the staff and Athena attend us throughout the whole night. I've been to many weddings and I've always heard about how the dinner was cold etc, and no bride wants to hear that, so I had the opposite experience me guest raved about their meal, they loved the Hor d'ourves and the dinner I selected and it was a good portion too! So again if you are looking for less stress, a beautiful venue, amazing staff to work with and a one stop shop, The Club at Sonterra is your place!! Thank you Athena for making our day beautiful and special!!
I highly recommend this venue!! We had our wedding here in November, and Athena Nolan, our wedding coordinator, made wedding planning so easy. Food was delicious and served in a timely manner, we were given plenty of options to chose from, we chose to serve the sirloin and salmon and both were amazing. Our wedding was absolutely perfect and organized, we did not worry about a thing and really enjoyed every minute!! Thanks to everyone at Club at Sonterra and Athena for making our wedding day a dream come true!
Amazing venue! We had our reception half inside of the terrace room (food/cake) and half outside on the patio terrace and lawn. It was gorgeous. Elizabeth, the catering manager, was the most incredible person to work with. She was SO professional and on top of it. I did not have to worry about ONE thing. She made the night go off without a hitch. The food was also amazing and they were so easy to work with. HIGHLY recommend this venue.
I toured at least 10 places before choosing Sonterra to be our venue! None of the other places even seemed to compare!
We had our wedding at the Club at Sonterra on June 3rd, and it couldn't have been more perfect! We worked with Elizabeth Blair & Liza as our coordinators and they were seriously like wonder women in helping us plan and execute our wedding! Communication was always quick & reliable, and Elizabeth was always clear of how much everything would cost. Elizabeth was always willing to meet with us when we could (considering we live in Houston), and was always receptive of the million questions I had via email and phone.
We did both our ceremony and reception at the venue for 120 people and everyone LOVED it! The service, the food, the staff, EVERYTHING was amazing! I had a clear visual of what I wanted and didn't want, and our coordinators made sure it all went smoothly. Our vendors were allowed to set up anytime throughout the day (which was a huge deal although our ceremony wasn't until 6pm), and myself and my bridal party were allowed to come start getting ready starting at 9am. I toured a ton of other places that only gave you certain time (usually a couple of hours before the start time) to use the bridal suite, which I thought was unacceptable considering I had 7 bridesmaids. So, my makeup artist and hairstylists were able to comfortably do everyones hair & makeup on site. Throughout the day., they make sure you stay on your timeline and that everything is going as you'd like! I think one of the things I appreciated the most was Liza continuously checking on my now husband and I, if we had ate and if we needed something to drink. Because, honestly as a bride & groom you're going to get pulled everywhere by different people and forgetting to drink & eat is quite common!! Our guests were treated really well and we haven't stopped receiving compliments of how gorgeous everything was. If you want a wedding that is going to be super organized and elegant, book with Sonterra! The setting is beautiful and the staff are amazing. I couldn't have asked for a better experience!! I would recommend Sonterra over & over again!
The Club at Sonterra was my best vendor! Our wedding was small (50 guests) and my husband and I were paying, so it was important for us to stay within the budget. I looked all over San Antonio to find the venue for 50 people. The majority of options were hotels downtown with limited locations for ceremony (mostly hotel ballrooms or very small semi-private outside areas). Other venues charged few thousand $ just to rent the space. When I requested a quote for Sonterra, I received it for 100 guests, so I assumed that that's the min guest count. Fortunately I went to Bridal extravaganza where I met Ivy who said she can adjust the quote for a smaller guest count.
For the same price as we would pay for hotel wedding, Club at Sonterra offered an awesome package which included alcohol, beautiful ballrooms, cocktail hour, beautiful outside ceremony site with a nice back up space in case of rain, linens, the day of coordinator, ice-sculpture, white columns for ceremony, food tasting, snacks for bridal party, dressing rooms for bride and groom (in hotel there's a separate charge for it).
I'd like to say special thanks to Ivy who was outstanding! She returned my call and emails promptly, made all requested adjustments and payed attention to detail. She agreed to place a piano in our reception room without extra change (it was always my dream to play the song I composed on my wedding).

We cannot say enough lovely things about The Club at Sonterra! Working with Elizabeth Blair was an absolute treat - she is so calm, responsive, warm and willing to work with you to make sure that all your questions are answered and that you're happy with every last detail. We lucked out with perfect weather and were able to have our ceremony outdoors overlooking the golf course. The backdrop was seriously stunning and our pictures prove it! Our reception in the Terrace room was so elegant and our guests confirmed that the food was excellent. Everything turned out exactly as we hoped and we had a once in a lifetime event - many of our friends and family commented that it was one of the best weddings they had ever been too!
Our wedding at The Club at Sonterra couldn't have been more perfect! Elizabeth was my right hand woman throughout the process, answered all questions thoroughly and made the process effortless. The day of coordinator included with the package from Events by Reese was a lifesaver. Yaris was INCREDIBLE. Our officiant left out an entire section during the ceremony and Yaris made sure to incorporate it during the reception. She helped everything run on schedule, and if there was a problem, she handled it with grace before I was even aware. If this place is a question mark on your venue list, think no more and BOOK IT!
Planning
When choosing an out of town wedding venue (we are from a small town outside of Dallas), I did lots of research then checked out almost a dozen venues in person. Coincidentally, we met with Amanda from Club at Sonterra last. From driving through the gates and admiring the scenery, to actually seeing the ballroom already setup for a wedding, I was sold. The ballroom is beautiful and doesn't require much more decorating. The value is amazing – they provide pretty much everything except cake, floral and centerpieces. Amanda was great from day one. She was patient and really worked with us to get a great value for our budget. We were able to change some things from our package that we didn't feel were necessary, or simply to customize it to our preference. A few months before my wedding, I was notified she was no longer with Sonterra (gasp!!) I just thought ‘great’…. Then Jennifer, the director, contacted me. After a quick panic, she put me at ease very quickly. We met with Jennifer to finalize details, and she had great ideas, suggestions and was very detail-oriented. She responded to calls and emails within a day and was also very accommodating. She made sure to explain things thoroughly.
Wedding Day
We originally anticipated 220 guests; however, the day of, 250 guests showed up. The staff was great in accommodating the extra unexpected guests (food and seats). The food was really good - we had three options (maybe not a great idea if you don't want to have to manage entree options via RSVPs and place cards). We had the chicken picatta (slightly dry, but great flavor and everyone that ordered it liked it), salmon (everyone that ordered was really pleased!), and sirloin steak (cooked medium, some came a little rare, but most were very happy with it!). Kids were served child's plate of chicken tenders. Altogether, food was great - especially for 250 people!! The entire staff was great - very friendly and accommodating as well.
Events by Reese
They partner with Sonterra for linens, lighting, day of coordinator, etc. I met with someone from their group to discuss layout, linen colors and timeline. I didn’t meet my coordinator until the day of our wedding (which was a little scary), but she was great!!! She was on top of everything from guiding guests, to making sure my husband and I were doing great throughout the night, packing gifts and loading them, until the final exit! I was very happy with Azanette and she was just the icing on the cake for a perfectly smooth wedding reception.
Overall
Thinking back now, I tell my husband I wasn't the girl who had this perfect wedding envisioned since I was a little girl; however, if I did, this would have been it. Coming from a small town where weddings are almost all held at local halls, the Club at Sonterra was an amazing experience for all of us! It was nice that our family was able to enjoy themselves rather than having to worry about all the small details throughout the night. I am honestly very pleased with the way everything turned out and I would 100% recommend the Club at Sonterra to any bride looking to have a fabulous wedding!
Sonterra was great at communicating with me during the wedding reception planning process. They gave me a timeline for the things that needed to be completed and even provided a list of suggested vendors to use that were familiar with the facility. The vendors were amazing and went above and beyond their job responsibilities to make my wedding perfect! Sonterra's staff was professional, organized, prompt, prepared, friendly, helpful, and truly customized everything we wanted for the event. The food portions for dinner were generous and tasted great! All guests received their seated dinner within five minutes of each other. Everything was decorated well in the ballroom and the bartender was knowledgeable and kept the line moving. The day of wedding planner provided by Sonterra was fabulous when it came to calling all of the vendors ahead of time for the itinerary, answering questions the night of the wedding, helping keep us on schedule, helping to pack the car, and preparing the bride and groom for our final send off with all of our belongings. The wedding went smoothly and we did not have a thing to worry about making the night very enjoyable. I would recommend Sonterra to anyone planning a wedding! It was a wonderful experience!
We recently had our wedding ceremony and reception at The Club at Sonterra and it was fabulous. The Club let us come in early to decorate the ceremony location and set up our centerpieces in the ballroom. They also worked with us during the dinner service to fix an issue we had with a side dish - the did it so quickly that I think only a few guests noticed anything was wrong. Our catering manager, Amanda, was so helpful and willing to work with us on everything. It made the whole experience very easy and let my husband and I focus on the important things - like getting married. :)
I got married at The Club at Sonterra three weeks ago. I could not have had a better experience with them! They were great to work with and both my husband and I were very happy with how everything went. The food was amazing. We did the stations option and everyone loved the spread. One of the favorites was the mashtini bar. We worked with Events by Reese (contracted through Sonterra) for the linens and wedding coordinator and we were very pleased with them as well. The linens turned out beautifully. I worked with Helayne who was our wedding coordinator. She was wonderful to work with and was very good at her job, including keeping the very excited bride on track throughout the day. Overall our experience at Sonterra was wonderful and we had a perfect wedding day experience!
I visited so many venues and absolutely fell in love with this one as soon as I saw it. It was gorgeous and they accomodated us on so many levels. They include a day of coordinator, ice sculpture, free valet parking, appetizers, catering, open bar, and much more. We were stress free with the venue the entire day. It was completely worth it!
Working with Micki Moore and The Club at Sonterra was a wonderful experience. I live 1100 miles from the club, so almost everything was done by phone and email. Micki was always calm and proifessional. She also has many good recommendations for other vendors if you are unfamiliar with the area. On the reception day, Monica was our "day of" coordinator and she did a great job, too. Everything looked so beautiful and it all worked out exactly like it was supposed to!! I would definitely recommend The Club at Sonterra!
Everything about the Club at Sonterra was fantastic. I started working with Micki Moore almost a year and a half prior to my wedding date. The club made everything go so smoothly. I loved the fact that the club is a one stop shop for everything. They work and team up very well with Events by Reese and our reception was gorgeous! They are well worth every penny although it seems daunting, when you add up all the little extras, you actually save more by having it at the Club. We were so impressed with all the service we received an everyone's professional attitude. This is a great venue to get married at and the people will also make it an unforgettable day!

Great venue! We had our wedding ceremony outside and the reception in the terrace room. The staff at the club at sonterra made the whole night an easy for me. Myself and bridesmaids all got ready in the locker and the was heaven. We did not feel rushed and had a great time getting ready. Also, the food was great! All of our guest had a great time!

I highly recommend The Club at Sonterra. My husband and I just returned from our honeymoon and were discussing how we felt that every penny we spent was well worth it. The venue itself is architecturally divine, with gorgeous photo opportunities throughout the entire site. Micki Moore was absolutely AMAZING. I have such respect and admiration for how well she does her job and how easy she makes it on future brides. I felt that everything was disclosed, all paperwork was concise and clear, and made as simple as possible for the soon-to-be-wed couple. I appreciated that I didn't have to run around town searching for a food catering service, or find someone to do my uplighting, or pick out linens, etc. Guests commented how elegant and lovely the venue was, and the area where our outdoor ceremony was performed was romantic and picturesque. I am so incredibly pleased. Again, I have so much praise for Micki--book your wedding here, and request her! She was highly flexible from the day we made our deposit up to the wedding day itself. She is immensely accommodating, warm, and approachable, with a very calming influence about her--exactly what a bride needs! Many thanks to the entire club for making the most special day of my life exactly what I imagined!
I could not have dreamed for anything better - this was our ideal place to get married and we could not have picked a better place to have our wedding. They have everything, have thought of everything and our wedding was perfect. The food was great, service was awesome - all in all, we are thrilled with our decision. This is one of the few places in S.A. where EVERYTHING you need is packaged together in one easy price, they have a beautiful outdoor ceremony and a beautiful back up room in case it rains, two options for rooms for the ceremony, a wedding coordiantor the day of - they really have it all. And best part of all, come the day of, you can sit back and know that everything is taken care of. LOVE them!

The event coordinator at Sonterra is wonderful. Everything about the experience was great except the wine selection and sald dressings the club offers. But, we were able to work around this. It was an absolutely stunning venue for the reception. Gorgeous lighting! So happy we used this location.

Our family belongs to the club. My sister got married there in 2005 and I got married there this year. Both times the folks at Sonterra couldn't have been nicer or easier to work with. I felt very strongly that my wedding be different from my sister's, since they were at same location, and Micki just kept telling me "we'll make it different!" and she did. Micki Moore is kind and really works with you to get everything organized. She even had me drop everything off for the wedding and reception (programs, place cards, etc) 3 days before the wedding, which meant I got it all done in advance and out of my hands, leaving me more time to enjoy my out of town guests before the wedding day.
We hosted about 215 guests in the main ballroom, and the ceremony was held outside by the putting green. You get a huge bridal suite to get ready, and we filled it up - I had 5 bridesmaids, and my hairdresser did everyone's hair on site. We were allowed to bring in food and drink, plus they provided a bottle of wine, waters, sodas, and cheese and crackers for the day. We had access to bridal room as early as we wanted it that day.
Everything was smooth as silk the whole day. I just wish we could go back and live it all over again! Plus, the food is fantastic there too!
I will say that the only thing I didn't love about it was their use of Events by Reese as the coordinator. I absolutely appreciate that Sonterra provides a coordinator, it was just that the particular company, and individual from that company, was difficult to work with and not nearly as friendly or pleasant as Micki and the rest of the Sonterra crew. Despite that small point, I think Sonterra is fabulous.
Sonterra was wonderful from the beginning. They were able to accommodate our multicultural event with ease and were available and easy to work with even through the last minute detail changes. The staff was pleasant, the food was delicious and the space is gorgeous. They had so many options with layouts and decorations/linens and designs. We comfortably hosted over 300 guests and most things ran very smoothly. The Club worked very well with all of our vendors, even allowing a few to leave items early and pick up a couple of days later.
I would absolutely and strongly recommend this venue to friends and family and I am ecstatic with how the event turned out.
I would never recommend this site for your wedding. I had my wedding here and the last month before the wedding we had so many things done against us that we were not told about in the beginning. They booked another wedding across the hall from us when they said there wouldn't be one. They charge a 21% service fee and 8.125% tax on top of the total price. When we questioned that they threatened to take away the coordinator and limit our amount of servers. This caused great stress on me as we had to consider other places after the nonrefundable depsoit of $4000.00 was placed and all the invitations were sent out with only 3 weeks till the wedding date. In the end, the club and us came to an agreement that the coordinator would be provided. On the wedding day we did not have valet parking as was supposed to be included in the enchantment package. All of my guests had to park themselves. When i went into the ballroom none of the tables had their numbers on them and I had to tell someone to put them up and my wedding party tables were not in the order I told them to put them so me and my bridesmaid had to fix it. They didnt start the cocktail hour until 6:15 when the bar was supposed to open at 5:30pm (of which they tried to charge us an extra hour for the bar being open when it didnt start till 6:15). The service was lacluster with the weighters. We also had 42 guests who did not show up who we had paid for. After a couple of hours the main rep for the club came to my father and said, "thanks for the tip" in reference to how they didnt have to serve the 42 guests that didnt show up but got to keep the money. Afterwards the coordinator helped my father load the gifts into the van he had brought which was supposed to be part of the service. After a month went by after the wedding the club attempted to charge over $2000.00 extra in what they said was cleaning and loading fees and for going over the time. how could we go over the time when it didnt start till 45 minutes after it was supposed to? it started at 6:15 and ended at 11:00pm, which according to them you get 5 hours of reception. Apparently not. We are still in dispute over an amount they put through to our bank...we managed to stop the other ones after their threats that they would continue to charge whatever they wanted to because we signed the contract. The only way Id recommend this club for a wedding reception is if you enjoy being stressed out.
Overall, great service and staff. Very accommodating. The big thing we didn't like was that the bride had to get ready in the ladies locker room which is attached to the members lounging area. We were under the impression that we would have that room for the bridal party, but the day of was a different story. The members of the club played cards and hung out there the entire time my bridal party got ready. They even made it a point to come in and comment on our hair and makeup. The guys also had no place to get ready and hang out until the ceremony.
Other than that, things went pretty smoothly. The food and staff were wonderful! The place is beautiful inside and out. Lots of great spots for photos.

In the end, we had a beautiful wedding and almost everything went off without a hitch. We had multiple comments on how gorgeous everything was and how good the food was so I can’t complain too much. However my overall concern was that when we booked the venue, we were told we would be the only wedding of the day, then we come to find out a few months later that they actually booked another wedding for the same day (about an hour later). We still got the “private area” (which really wasn’t private) for the day to get ready in but we were assured we wouldn’t have to rush through our pictures after the ceremony so the other wedding could take place, but we actually did have to rush quite a bit and they were changing over the chairs and decor for the other wedding and you could tell the other officiant was getting irritated when we were taking our pictures. In addition, the food delivery (specifically the salads starting off the meal) was a lot slower than scheduled and we had no bread at the tables at the start of the meal (despite my stressing the importance of this since they have excellent rolls there) and I can’t help but wonder if that was because the kitchen was too busy with both events. We didn't get our wine service (part of the package we paid for) until halfway through the dinner. Overall the food was good. I didn’t get to enjoy the chocolate fountain because I was too afraid of dripping on my wedding dress but guests liked it…though I would have preferred for it to be in a more visible area and to have guests be able to serve themselves instead of someone standing there dictating how much they could take. Also, the area where we were made to cut our cake was barely visible to half the room so instead of feeling like a fun part of the wedding, the cake cutting basically seemed like a photo op only and most of our guests missed it, which was disappointing. They need to get the cake on a rolling table so it can go to the center of the dance floor. Other good things: they provide a “day of” coordinator, which helped make the actually wedding day more relaxing for me however the coordinator didn’t listen to me about several parts of the ceremony which was frustrating and didn’t get all my stuff into my bridesmaid’s car at the end of the night as she was supposed to so I had to go back twice to pick it all up. All in all, my wedding was wonderful for both my husband and I, our families and our friends. I would do it again at Sonterra but I would be a little firmer in what I want...of course never having planned a wedding before I didn't know what that would be...hopefully this advice can help others.
