The venue itself was fantastic! With the right uplights and decor, it has the potential to turn into the venue of your dreams. The staff on the other hand could use some guidance. ...When we first secured the venue, we met with a director, Katie, and her assistant, Gina. We had discussed all of the details +1 year before the date only to realize that they were no longer part of the management team 6 months prior. Carlene became the new catering director and Claire was the new assistant, to which we received no notifications about this change. It turns out that due to poor communication and handoff, none of our prior agreements were followed upon, requiring multiple in-person meetings to get things re-set in stone. On the day of the wedding, Claire became the point person, which I do not think was the wisest decision considering the fact that she was so new to this industry. She made some rookie mistakes that cost us extra $ (ex. unexpectedly closing the main bar in the ballroom because of some minor "obstructions" from the decorations and extending cocktail hour because they were not ready to serve dinner in a timely manner, resulting in us paying extra for extended DJ services. Overall, I would suggest that you have create a specific written contract detailing your needs and assigning someone (ex. friend/family) to follow up on those items on the day-of to minimize your wedding stress.
