Rafael Mendoza and the amazing staff at CCS made our wedding reception something beyond our dreams!
From day one, Rafael was attentive to any questions we had and always offered any suggestions for details we had never even thought of. He has always gone out of his way to make us feel like his number one priority.
The venue is gorgeous and provides several different backdrops for beautiful photos; Rafael personally escorted us and our photographers around the course for wonderful scenary of all sorts. My husband had gifted me a tennis bracelet that I had lost during these photos, and once he was notified, Rafael immediately worked to locate the bracelet and had it back on my wrist before dinner was served!
Dinner was perfect, and Rafael went the extra mile to accommodate all of our guests and their dietary restrictions - including but not limited to providing a special request meal for a child with special needs.
We could not recommend Rafael and the Country Club of the South more to any couple looking for a wedding venue!
Rafael and CCS did an amazing job for my wedding on 11/18/23! :) I had my reception at CCS and it is definitely the place to go to have a wedding. I definitely recommend having Rafael as CCS's venue coordinator. My coordinator, Southern Weddings and Rentals, and Rafael worked well to make my wedding very beautiful.
Absolutely incredible venue! From the first time I walked into the ballroom at CCS I was floored and new it was going to be the place to have our wedding. Rafael was amazing and went above and beyond to help make our day so special and was extremely patient will all the questions we had! The ballroom just got freshly painted and the bar redone which was a nice surprise ahead of our venue. The outdoor patio and yard was perfect for happy hour and we even rented the villa behind the ballroom to get ready in the morning! Our wedding was the best day ever which was made possible because of CCS!
Country Club of the South is a wonderful wedding venue! Britney goes above and beyond as a planner to make your day go as smoothly as possible. The venue itself is gorgeous, especially in the spring, and options for guests to be inside or outside is great. Everyone complimented the food. It was delicious and not typical bland wedding food. CCS is more expensive than a do-it-yourself venue, but you definitely get what you pay for.
Country Club of the South is a gorgeous wedding venue! We booked the venue for its beautiful ballroom and its ability to fit a large band with 100+ guests in attendance. We initially booked back in 2019 with Britney as our coordinator. Britney was so accommodating and responsive to our concerns when COVID hit. Our wedding was March of 2021, and they were flexible with several last minute adjustments that had to be made due to COVID. Basic linens/table centerpieces come with booking the venue. They also have an on-site 4 bed/4.5 bath newly re-furnished villa that our bridesmaids did hair & makeup and slept at. Britney was professional and worked well with all of our vendors to make our day perfect! The only downside is that we thought the food was mediocre. Otherwise, loved everything about the venue!
We, like many couples in 2020, had to postpone our wedding from May 2020 to March 2021. Rafael, our venue coordinator, was who our wedding planner worked with. Here is what I took from our experience with Rafael and this venue.
1. The venue itself is beautiful- floor to ceiling windows and beautiful scenery. However, if I could go back in time to when we were back to looking at venues to book, knowing what I know now, I would NOT book with Rafael again. To all future couples, having a great venue coordinator is MUCH MORE important than having a good scenery.
2. Two weeks before our wedding, we decided to switch from an outdoor ceremony to an indoor one due to weather concerns. We went online and found a picture of an indoor ceremony that was held at CCS and emailed it to Rafael asking what we needed to add (everything is an additional cost) to make our ceremony space look like this. The beautiful drapery you see in the pictures are not included in their venue rental costs. He replied back that we would need to pay for column drapery (basically 2K after taxes), but not the ceiling drapery (this is an ADDITIONAL cost as well- not included in the cost of column drapery).
On the DAY OF OUR WEDDING, as we were taking our first look shots, I noticed that the drapery we wanted as our background was missing. When we asked Rafael, he said that that was a part of ceiling drapery and we only paid for the column drapery. When we reminded him of what we communicated with him about, all he offered was a shrug and "I'm sorry." Basically, he told us there was nothing we could do.
3. Due to COVID-19 concerns, we offered our guests the option to attend both the ceremony and reception OR only the ceremony with the choice to received a bagged meal to-go. When we spoke with Rafael about this, he said that this was fine and all good. He NEVER in the MONTHS we and our wedding planners communicated with him mentioned that this would incur, yet again, an ADDITIONAL charge. We didn't find out until 3 days after our wedding when we received a notification from our credit card company saying that our credit card was charged.
All in all, was our wedding beautiful and were we surrounded by our loved ones? Yes.
Would we recommend this venue and Rafael to our friends and family? No. The beautiful venue is simply NOT worth the hassle and headache we had with Rafael.
****I am submitting a correction to my previous review. ****
We did not get charged (#3) for asking for some meals to be bagged and prepared for some guest to take home. It was my mistake and I have already stated my apologies to Rafael.
What we had been charged was for our lunch provisions for the bridal party (they had arrived at 8am for hair and makeup). Our wedding was at 6pm.
Warning for future brides: We were told by Rafael that the CCS does not allow any outside food to be delivered. We had originally planned on getting food delivered for a light brunch. Instead we had to order from their breakfast/lunch provisions menu which is priced per person and a bit pricey. It is served buffet style. Remember to factor this cost in when considering this venue for your wedding.
STAY AWAY!!! As a member of Club Corp I hate to have to write a review like this but The Country Club of the South is VILE! Our wedding was scheduled for April 4th, 2020 and contracted back on June 18th, 2019. While we obviously didn't have a wedding due to the Coronavirus Pandemic what they did to us prior and leading up to it was so unprofessional and unimaginable that we feel other potential wedding parties should be aware and forewarned.
Everything was fine up until February 6th, 2020. On this day the General Manager of The Country Club of the South, Scott Renner, called me the groom to thank me for trusting the club to host our wedding. He then goes on to ask me "Do you know John Cena?" Turns out the club had an opportunity to host a movie there called "Vacation Friends" staring John Cena the same weekend as our wedding. It also turns out that the film company needed to use the onsite villa, a 5 bedroom house, which we had already rented, paid for in full and executed a separate contract when we secured the venue. Needless to say the club took the opportunity.
Everything was NOT fine now. The villa is a 5 bedroom house located on property right next to the reception hall. It was going to house some of our wedding party and be used for the bride to walk out to the outdoor ceremony space that is located between that and the reception hall. The convenience was perfect and the only reason we thought this venue made any sense at all for us. It was a priceless feature. So for the General Manager, Scott Renner, to provide the film company with our rented villa before he even addressed the matter with us is absurd and beyond unprofessional. It is the total opposite of the trust he implied when he called.
After much negotiation The Country Club of the South agreed to compensate us with a $23,000 credit to cover the wedding cost, for us relocating our wedding party to a local hotel and for the inconvenience, stress and damages caused. We agreed not to sue them or disparage the club. With that said, we assumed that the film company paid them significantly more to film the "Vacation Friends" movie there. Not to mention the goodwill provided to this club and the entire Club Corp as a whole would be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars to say that a movie featuring John Cena, Lil Rel Howery and Yvonne Orji was filmed onsite.
Then the Coronavirus Pandemic hit in mid-March and we started thinking that our wedding may not be possible. On March 19th, we informed Scott Renner at The Country Club of the South that we need to look into rescheduling our wedding date in order to not put our 130+ guests of family and friends in jeopardy as well as their own employees. His response was and I quote "there is still no government mandate prohibiting us from hosting your wedding. So, we are still planning on your wedding until such time as we are not allowed to." I informed him that his response was irresponsible and would endanger their very own employees.
Even though we had already fulfilled our part of the agreement in allowing them to take the villa for that weekend in order to take this great opportunity to film a movie at their country club they refused to allow us to reschedule our wedding date because they did not want to give us the $23,000 credit to cover cost as agreed. In fact, 14 days from the date of our wedding this country club had actually still planned to host a 130+ person wedding stating that their venue was still operating and...
Rafael was our venue coordinator and we couldn't have made a better choice! He was extremely knowledgeable, professional, and accommodating, making the wedding planning process a breeze. He also coordinated with my day-of coordinators to make sure everything was executed in the way that we wanted. I will definitely be bring my business back to this venue and look forward to working with Rafael and the CCS Team in the future!
Rafael is the best person to work with! He was our 'wedding coordinator' per say, at the club, and he was always so happy to see us everytime, he always had a smile on his face, was upbeat, and made the wedding process very smooth. He responded to my daily emails very quickly and he is extremely organized, which is very important to me. The Club on my wedding day was STUNNING! Major props to Rafael, and the other Club staff who made my wedding night so memorable! Thank you all, again!!
This is such a beautiful venue! Britney and her team are fantastic! After shopping around and becoming discouraged by the cost of many reception venues in the Atlanta area, we found CCOS. We are so happy that we chose this as the venue for our wedding reception! We rented out the villa next door for the bridesmaids/bride to stay in the night before. We were able to get up and walk over to the club for hair and makeup bright and early! It was so nice to be able to get ready at the club before going to the church for the ceremony. The food was delicious and Britney is wonderful! She was incredibly helpful during the wedding planning process and she was there to make sure everything went smoothly on the night of the wedding.
We would absolutely recommend this venue for your reception! It is beautiful and the staff is amazing!
Rafael was absolutely amazing! He was patient and worked with throughout the whole process. He helped me with changes up to the day before the wedding. He also helped us stay on schedule and made sure everything was executed flawlessly. The staff made sure my guests were taken care of and happy. I even saw one of staff members dancing with my 3 year old daughter who kept trying to hang out in the kitchen. You could tell that the truly cared about making my day perfect for me. They did an amazing job and I am forever thankful for them.
Country Club of the South wedding venue is AMAZING
Rafael did an amazing job insuring a perfect wedding day for us. He made sure every detail was handled and truly let us just enjoy the day. Everyone commented on how good the food was, especially the filet. The appetizers were delicious as well. The grounds were absolutely beautiful. I had many calls, text and comments how beautiful the venue was. The waitstaff and bartenders were all so professional. They truly seemed to enjoy their jobs and took it upon themselves to see that every guest had a amazing experience. We rented the villa nextdoor and would highly recommend renting it if you have a wedding at the club. It was perfect and made wedding day preparations fun and convenient.
Would I recommend the Country Club of the South to future brides? Absolutely and I already have recommended them to a friend. You won’t be disappointed if you host your wedding at the club. All their coordinators and staff are amazing! Thank you for making our day perfect and one we will never forget!
The Country Club of the South was the perfect venue. We had our ceremony and cocktail reception in the gorgeous gardens and our reception in the beautiful ballroom. The food was AMAZING and we had so many guests rave about it. We brought in an ice luge and they were so accommodating to everyone doing "shots" down it! Britney is so helpful and professional and such a big help. I can't recommend this venue enough!
Having our wedding reception at CCS was a dream come true! We couldn't have picked a better venue and group of people to work with. The ballroom alone is absolutely gorgeous. It has an open floor plan, tall ceilings, and tall glass windows which allowed plenty of beautiful, natural light in. Our reception turned out better than I could have ever imagined. Britney Milam and the rest of the staff were PHENOMENAL!
Britney was very approachable, detail oriented, responsive, patient, and reliable! She answered my thousands of questions honestly and in a timely manner. I cannot say enough good things about her. She thought about every detail and had an "I'll take care of it" attitude throughout the planning process. She is such a blessing and is fantastic at her job!
The following are included in the package:
- Tables
- Banquet chairs
- Linens
- Plates
- Cutlery
- Votives
- Parking
- All day rental of the ballroom (Love this. I feel like the staff can truly put their focus and energy on your big day)
- A few more things I might be forgetting
We added the following for an additional charge:
- Gold chiavari chairs (silver was also an option)
- Gold chargers
- Dance floor
- Draping/curtains
- Donut tower (I didn't want cake)
- Villa rental
Another thing I liked about CCS is the minimum isn't just for food and beverage. Anything we wanted to add to the package, except for the villa, went towards the minimum, so there wasn't a lot of pressure to add on extra food and drinks or meet the estimated guest count.
The food was DELICIOUS! We served hot hors d'oeuvres (chicken spring rolls, lamb chops, bacon wrapped scallops, and a veggie quesadilla). The lamb was so tender and fell off the bone. We also decided to have a plated dinner and served grouper, chicken, and sweet potato ravioli (for our vegetarian option). All entrees came with a salad, a starch (parmesan risotto) and a veggie (asparagus). Since I am more of a donut person than cake, we opted for a donut tower. I provided the tower and Britney did the rest. The donut tower was a mix of glazed Krispy Kreme (my fave!) and vanilla glazed DD donuts. We also went with a 4-hour open bar, and added an additional 30 minutes once the party got going. We still remained within our minimum. The guests raved (and still rave) about cocktail hour food, dinner, dessert, and bar service! Let me just say that the bartenders did not serve weak drinks. Our guests were very happy. ;)
Our reception, including the cocktail hour lasted for five hours. Our ceremony was offsite. The cocktail hour started at 4pm, and Britney was at the venue before 12pm. She even stopped by the villa a few times to check on me and collect last minute items. The villa was beautiful, clean, and spacious! It had the following: four bedrooms (2 master bedrooms with king beds - can sleep at least 10 comfortably), 4.5 baths, 2 living rooms (1 upstairs and 1 downstairs), dining room, fully stocked kitchen, laundry room, patio, gated access and more.
Britney stayed for the majority of the reception and left before it ended. I don't blame her, it's a long day. However, we knew this before booking and she assured us that there would be another person to help after she leaves. The other person was great, too!
Everything went smoothly. We were treated like royalty from start to finish. Britney and her team went above and beyond and exceeded all our expectations! I cannot recommend CCS enough!!!
I will sing the praise of Country Club of the South to the rooftop. Britney Milam was my onsite coordinator and she was absolutely awesome. She was prompt with answering emails and she guided me through creating a timeline and guided me throughout the evening. The staff was phenomenal. The first reason to choose this venue is because you have the venue all day!!!!! You don't have to worry about a wedding being ahead or behind you so there is no rush and pressure as far a timing. Another reason to select this venue is that the food tasting allows 4 people instead of only 2 allowed by other venues. They can accommodate their menu to fit your needs and the food was great. I still hear from my guests how awesome the food was at the Country Club. Another thing I would recommend which I did not get the chance to take advantage of is renting the villa for your wedding party to get ready. I was only able to rent it for 1 day instead of the 2 days I wanted for my wedding.
Britney Milam (wedding coordinator) was absolutely fantastic!! We could not have picked a better venue! I was clueless planning a wedding, and Britney guided me throughout the process from food, day of timeline, and making sure we got everything we wanted for the wedding! The day of the wedding, there were so many decorations that I just told Britney to figure out where to put everything, and she did such a phenomenal job. I am still getting a lot of complements on how gorgeous the venue was, the decorations, the food, and all the hard work the staff put into making our day absolutely amazing! I CANNOT say enough about Britney and The Country Club of the South!! Truly an amazing experience from the very beginning!
Britney is the event coordinator at CCS and was such a pleasure to work with!! In the two weeks leading up to our wedding, I probably sent her roughly 50 emails tying up loose ends, working out last minute details, etc. and she could not have been more gracious and patient with me. The day-of, she made sure every detail of our day was perfect and it was. The Country Club of the South was the perfect reception site to host our wedding and my husband and I could not have been more pleased with the overall experience. I highly recommend hosting your event at CCS.
Wonderful event space. Great event staff. Brittany Gerard was a great event coordinator. She handled everything to perfection and we didn't worry once. I would recommend this venue to anyone.
I would suggest CCS to anyone who's looking for a venue. The building is beautiful and classic. The high ceiling of the ballroom creates a feeling of grandness. It makes great photos! But more importantly, the staff are so professional and friendly! The food tastes amazing! And Britney is the coordinator I dreamed of! She's there for me the whole day and made the wedding day so much less stressful. I would highly recommend working with her.
My wedding at the Country Club of the South was everything I wanted. Britney did an amazing job at coordinating the wedding from the beginning to the end. I wouldn't change anything.
The Country Club of the South was the perfect place for our special day. Britney, the venue's wedding coordinator, was spectacular and crucial in making our big day a success. We could tell that she is an expert at was she does from very early on. She was always one step ahead of us with all of the answers and attention to detail that impressed a detailed-focused, list making bride like me!
On the day of the wedding, we had family, vendors, and part of the wedding party show up late and yet Britney managed to get everything on track and on schedule without my knowing and getting even more stressed out! She was very accommodating during set up of our special tables. We had custom made desserts, party favors, DIY centerpieces and decorations. She always made sure we had everything we needed.
The venue itself is beautiful, well kept and cared for. The locker areas for getting ready were nice and spacious but not private. Members of the club were able to go in and out of the areas as needed but were all polite and unobtrusive.
What really made the CCS stand out to us was that we could come in at any time and stay as long as needed without having to pay more during the wedding day. We didn’t have to worry about another wedding being booked the same day or having to get out by a certain time after clean up!
The staff at the CCS is very friendly and professional. Everyone was incredibly polite and helpful. The cocktail hour hors d'oeuvres and dinner buffet were great and our wedding party even got served separately for cocktail hour to ensure we got some after pictures. We got several compliments afterwards from friends and family that it was some of the best wedding food they have ever had!
Choosing the Country Club of the South was one of the biggest and best choices we made for our big day and if we had to do it all over again, we’d definitely still choose CCS!
Country Club of the South was an incredible venue to work with. The wedding was more than I could have ever imagined. The service was phenomenal, food was great, and the overall flow of the event could not have been more perfect. The ballroom is a gorgeous space and the absolutely perfect size to host a sit down wedding with 200-250 guests. Britney, the wedding coordinator at Country Club of the South was a godsend. She is so good at what she does, and made sure the entire event was flawless. She also did an incredible job of taking care of my husband and I throughout the night to make sure we had everything that we needed! I would have my wedding again there in a heartbeat.
Britney is awesome!! Great place to get ready and great food!!
Britney Milam and her team at Country Club of the South are INCREDIBLE! We fell in love with her and the venue during our first meeting nearly a year before our wedding and were continuously blown away with each visit thereafter. Britney is so laid back and relaxed, which is the exact opposite of what I encountered at other Country Clubs. She doesn't feel like CCS is entitled to your business - she truly wants to earn it! I honestly can't say enough good things about her! You will absolutely be in good hands!
The venue itself is stunning! We had full access to the club and locker rooms all day before our ceremony, which provided more than enough space to get ready. The ballroom has great indoor and outdoor spaces and quickly converts from ceremony to reception.
The food was AWESOME!!! We received more compliments on the food than anything else. We had pecan crusted chicken, flat iron steak, au gratin potatoes, grilled veggies, and the wedge salad - all of which was to die for!
Britney referred multiple vendors, which we ended up booking simply based on her recommendation. I would highly recommend CCS - there's just no comparable club in the Atlanta area!
Britney who runs the weddings at Country Club of the South absolutely made the event. She is AMAZING!!!! I didn't have to worry about and thing.
You hear all the time, the Bride and Groom never get to eat and it is hard to get away from people to grab a drink. Britney made sure the groom, our parents and myself got to eat and always had a drink in our hands. I never even had to ask. She packed us up a ton of food and cake to take back with us. I still have some in my freezer. All the little details, she handled from executing the day off to the extra linens we had her add to tables and so on.
You have to like who is going to run the biggest day of your life and she was masterful!!!
Not only is the venue beautiful, the food was AMAZING! Very affordable especially after pricing Lake Lanier. Lake Lanier is a covered concrete pad. Doesn't compare to this venue and you get way more bang for your buck. My guest are still raving about the food and the venue.
At CCOTS, you get the best of both worlds...outside festivities (ceremony and cocktail hour) and the ballroom has beautiful windows so you don't feel like you are in a stuffy hotel conference room. The mens and women's locker rooms are top notch and had plenty of room for my 8 bridesmaids to get ready, I could have had 30. I can't say enough good things about it. I have no regrets, not a thing I would have changed!!!
The Country Club of the South was the perfect venue for my winter wedding - Big fireplaces, stonework, and a big open reception space for 300+ people. The people at CCS were wonderful to work with also.
I was so impressed with the the way that the day flowed!! Britney was my contact and cordinator for the special day and she made sure that everything went very smoothly!!! She did an amazing job at everything I didn't have to worry about anything. They also provided the food and it was amazing as well, I am still getting compliments on it. Since our budget was small we used the smaller room and it was beautiful :)
Great on the day of the wedding, but not so great in the planning. The wedding day itself turned out amazing, but they were slow to respond during the planning process. Food is incredible, scenery is incredible, and space is great!
We loved the menu we selected for our reception. It was a sit down meal preceded by butler passed hors d'ouevres. The menu selections were delicious excellent and unique.;Stay one step ahead of your reception advisor. One month after submitting our deposit I found out our advisor never blocked off our date in her calendar and let it go to someone else and we had to move our date and all of our booked vendors. Even with this mistake - our experience was well worth it.
