My sister’s wedding was beautiful and went smoothly until we could no longer locate Missy the coordinator. She was a terrible communicator, we only saw her one time in a span of 12 hours, and she just poof disappeared. Missy did not rehearse with the party how to enter the reception, and the getting ready rooms were locked with her nowhere to be found. Missy also did not give the bride and groom their promised room key at the end of the night because, you guessed it, we literally could not find this woman. She was very rude and condescending, and none of us really enjoyed speaking with her. I would recommend the hotel, but the wedding coordinator needs to be removed and replaced.
What can I say, for a once in a moment experience this venue and the coordinators were the worst.
To summarize they changed the coordinators twice before our wedding. Everything discussed prior in writing and phone conversations did come to be on our wedding day. All reservations, details with our photographer, loosing bridesmaids dresses, ruining the first look, ruining the grand entrance, serving kids meals to adults, letting random people get served at our open bar, letting random guest walk through our event, missing items and a staff that doesn’t take any responsibility or understands what true customer service is — this was a nightmare. High level things that are a huge red flag are the following:
—The coordinators were no where to be found throughout the night/day of our wedding. My bridesmaids had to keep calling them.
—Our wedding guest were served kids meals rather then the pre order platted meals. Even though we paid for the most expensive meals.
—The sales director is extremely condescending and didn’t take any responsibility. Honestly we should of be refunded for the whole event.
—To top it off the director of sales tried to frame me and my wedding party for a broken glass shelf in the bridal suite. Thank goodness I had a photo for when we originally tour the venue 9 months prior to prove the shelf was broken 9 months earlier and not from my bridal party. But it shows how this staff is completely immature and unprofessional.
I don’t know if it is because we were not from that area or not from Spokane. But it’s a shame with all the beauty and charm the Davenport has lack of management and internal organization leaves the worst taste from our wedding.
Brides and Grooms please do yourself a favor and go somewhere else for your special day. Let us please gift you with knowledge in this horrible management. I’d also be cautious that the good reviews are even real honestly we were scammed!
You have been warned!
I was born and raised in the Spokane area, The Historic Davenport is where I always dreamed of having my wedding. So when my Fiance proposed and The Historic was within our budget I felt as though all my dreams were coming true. It breaks my heart to say that I hated my wedding, my husband and I both look back on the night and are not pleased with how the evening went.
The entire process with the davenport was very difficult, there were several communication breakdowns between us and the event staff. I was constantly reaching out to them trying to get clarification only to be left more confused. When misinformation was provided rather than apologize for the confusion and clarify the information, I was told that it was my fault that I didn't understand. When my husband reached out to question what we were told in regards to payment and the breakdown of charges the rep argued with my husband and told us there is no way that anyone there would have ever given us that information. We ended up paying for our entire guest list to have salmon when only about 15% of them had ordered salmon, The rest of the guests had chicken, this was only the tip of the iceberg.
We had both our ceremony and reception at The Davenport, the set up for the Ceremony was good and done per my request. However they didn't bother to turn on the air conditioning in the Elizabethan room, I got married in June, the room was so hot I was dripping sweat by the end of our ceremony.
Then we went into our reception and the tables were not set as we had discussed, I said something and they rectified the situation. The rest of the issues throughout the evening were not rectified nor addressed after we brought them to the attention of the General Manager. Throughout the entire evening, our wedding coordinator was MIA until it was time to close up the venue. Our DJ didn't know what to do because the coordinator was not communicating with us or the other vendors. The worst part is when I got our photo booth pictures from that venue there was several photos of the Davenport Staff in our photo booth, WHERE WERE YOU WHEN WE NEEDED SOME DIRECTION!
The entire night was disorganized, even though we had countless meetings and phone calls with the event coordinators to work out a schedule and all the details. Guests were leaving because there was nothing happening, the DJ didn't know when to have us do our first dance, when we realized how late it was we went up to the DJ and asked him to start the first dance, I thought this is what the coordinator and all the planning was supposed to take care of. The entire evening was a mess. For over $20,000 we would have expected more. Very disappointed and would advise anyone thinking of booking with the davenport to tread cautiously.
We had an amazing reception at the Davenport. It was classy, fun, beautiful, and the wedding coordinator was there the whole time to ensure everything went great! We even stayed there that night. The Davenport ALWAYS delivers!
We absolutely loved our reception at the Historic Davenport! The space is so beautiful and gave our wedding exactly the vibe we wanted. We booked the Marie Antoinette room. Once the Davenport found out about our number of guests (150) and plans for cocktail hour, buffet and a photobooth, they gave us complimentary use of the adjoining rooms (the Cutter Room and the Flowerfield Room).
Our wedding coordinator, Sabrina Mallah, was super helpful and responsive. She would respond to emails generally within 24 hours and always had detailed answers to our questions. She was willing to work with us to make our wedding go exactly how we wanted and was knowledgeable, experienced, and friendly. She was available on the day of the wedding and took care of distributing vendor tips and interacting with vendors. Everything went so smoothly!
Barb at the Davenport Flowers was absolutely incredible. I told her that we wanted to spend less than $1000 on flowers for a 150 person wedding and she didn't try to upsell me, but came up with some great ideas to make our budget work. In fact, we ended up spending less than $900 on flowers by using candle trios with rose petals for half of the centerpieces reusing the bridesmaids bouquets as centerpieces, and getting a few bouquets for the remaining centerpieces. On the morning of the wedding she personally came up to my room and showed me the flowers to make sure that I was happy with them. I asked her if we could make a few changes and she was more than happy to do so. The flowers looked so amazing in all of the photos!
The food was great. We did the traditional wedding buffet, which provided more than enough food for everyone. The kitchen made a special meal for our vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free guests that I heard was absolutely amazing. My parents are on a very restrictive diet and Chef Tom made special meals for them. Also, we had one vegan and gluten-free guest who could not eat any of the desserts and the staff went out of their way to get her a sorbet so she could enjoy dessert too.
We booked a post-wedding brunch at the private room (seats 28) at the Palm Court Grill. The staff created a special menu for us and even set a table runner with our wedding colors along the table as decoration. The only snafu (explained below) was that a couple of the menu items got mixed up, but I talked to the staff and they were happy to honor our request for the original menu items. Service was prompt and friendly, even for 28 people!
A couple of things to note: it seems that the Davenport may have some staff turnover. The salesperson we were working with to book our wedding (Megan Kasper) left halfway through the sales process, and it took a little while to track down the new salesperson. Also when we were booking our post-wedding brunch, the manager who was organizing the brunch left before our wedding (luckily, the previous manager left detailed notes for the new one but a few things got lost in the shuffle). I didn't find this to be a huge problem, but just wanted to mention it for full disclosure. Also, the first wedding salesperson did not fully review our contract and left some clauses in there that did not apply to us. Once I pointed this out they rectified the problem immediately, but just make sure to read your contract carefully before signing!
In general, everyone from the Davenport was extremely quick at responding to emails and phone calls and worked hard to make our special day perfect!
You have to appreciate a hotel which will put rose petals and chilled champagne in your honeymoon suite. The Davenport is beautiful and very luxurious. I felt very pampered! Do not, however, order room service. Perhaps the meals are better, but we paid $50 for a pastry, hashbrowns, sausage, and coffee. I don't think that amount of food was worth the price.
Our reception at the Davenport was wonderful. We enjoyed working with the staff and would highly recommend them to anyone looking to plan a wedding.
We booked a night stay in this hotel because it was the top rated hotel in Spokane. We mentioned that we were on our honeymoon and the friendly staff gave us an amazing upgrade. The hotel is very nice, staff is friendly, beds are comfortable.
My family stayed at the Lusso which another part of the Davenport and were very please with the accommodations. It was downtown so walking distance to most everything which was important as all of our family were coming in from out of town. The hotel also provided transportation for our guests which again was very important. I would recommend this hotel to anyone for any reason
The davenport although expensive is the best way to spend your wedding night. From the minute we got out of the car they were polite and courteous to us. It's always clean and the beds are incredible. Well worth the money!
loved being picked up in the towncar at the end of the night!
on time, and it's a free service!
Planning the wedding was very easy because so much of the davenport services are in house. The wedding ceremony and reception were both beautiful as well. Additionally when you book a wedding at the Davenport you receive a free stay in the Honeymoon Suite the night of your wedding, which is a fantastic perk.
Really there is no other place like the Davenport here in Spokane, Some of our guests stayed at the hotel and just loved the service and comfort. The Sunday brunch was excellent
The Davenport is beautiful and the staff was helpful. Everything turned out perfect and we have a million great pictures! I thought it would be way out of my price range but it ended up being very fairly priced. My family and I did not have to worry about any setting up or taking down because the employees took care of it all. I also live out of state so I was pleased that I was able to plan everything so easily.
The most expensive part was the catering. If you have the reception there, you are required to use their catering. It was decent food.
We had our wedding reception in the Marie Antoinette ballroom in the Historic Davenport. It was absolutely awesome! The hotel recommended vendors, and everyone they recommended was awesome. Beyond that, the hotel staff was so amazing. They made sure that every detail was just the way we wanted it. Brianna, our wedding coordinator helped us get everything we had every dreamed of. The food was absolutely delicious and our signature drink was just as we imagined!
The service by the hotel catering department was fantastic. They walked us through every step of our wedding reception so there would be no surprises and then on the day of the wedding us and our families were able to completely enjoy the moment, we didn't worry about a thing!
The hotel has been beautifully restored and was exquisitely and tastefully decorated for the holidays. There was very little that I had to do for decor other than centerpieces for the tables which was great.;My husband and I really wanted to have an evening wedding in December naturally on a Saturday night. This was impossible to do at the Davenport because they host numerous company Christmas parties every weekend in December and they are repeat customers and therefore have more pull than a wedding. We ended up having an afternoon wedding on Saturday which actually worked out great and we saved a ton of money too!
