About this vendor
If you love The Great Gatsby era and all of its glitz and glamour, this venue might be perfect for you. The Deco is a 1920s-inspired wedding venue located in West Allis, WI. The building was first built in 1936 and was initially a JC Penney department store. However, in recent years it has been restored to welcome couples wanting to celebrate their special day in style.
When arriving at The Deco, you and your guests are sure to feel as if you have been transported to the time of flapper dresses and top hats. Boasting over 20,000 square feet of space, this venue can hold celebrations of all sizes. Whether you want to invite only your nearest and dearest or 600 guests, they can accommodate it. Before exchanging your vows, you can start your day off right in one of the get-ready suites. Once you're prepared to say your loving "I dos", you can make your way to the main event area that will host both your ceremony and reception. The banquet hall features a minimalistic interior, making an ideal blank canvas for decorating. What's more, there is a 6,000 square feet terrace where guests can enjoy a relaxing cocktail hour.
The Deco will make sure that your once-in-a-lifetime event reflects your needs and desires. The team will work closely with you and will help you in any way that they can. With the many deco-style bars and beautiful backdrops, your guests will be busy sipping on drinks and taking advantage of all the photo opportunities. The venue also offers catering options but is more than happy for outside caterers to come in and use the onsite prep kitchen, if requested.

We booked the Deco before it was complete and I am so glad we did. The venue is stunning and the separate spaces for ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, getting ready and outdoor space were just what we wanted. Everything was beautiful and just as we imagined it would be. Our guests complimented how beautiful the space was and everyone was able to enjoy the different areas without feeling super separated. They are a newer venue and sometimes the communication got mixed up since the coordinator and owner had different responsibilities, but other than that everything worked out. Wally the owner is super sweet and shows he cares for you and will respond to any questions you have! He let us store some of our larger items a few nights prior to the wedding which was super helpful. The bartenders were great as well and made sure everyone was served timely. The staff also made sure to grab my husband and I waters or whatever we needed after the ceremony which was really nice! Highly recommend!
Amazing venue!! Wally and his staff were professional, accommodating and friendly.
We received many compliments from our guest. We thank all the staff at The Deco for helping our son and daughter in law have an unforgettable dinner and reception. We will definitely be back!!
Having my wedding at The Deco was not a regret. It was truly a memorable experience. Wally was very accommodating and helpful throughout the process. Despite booking with them for our wedding less than 3 months away, the staff really pulled together to ensure we had the wedding of our dreams. I would say that the only flaw was there were some miss communications between the staff, however, things eventually worked out. This venue was able to accommodate our 300 guests with the multiple level of spaces. Definitely was a beautiful place and space for our wedding.
We booked this venue, The Deco, 21 months ahead of our wedding date and during their construction phase (will openly admit was our biggest mistake.) This was one of the few venues we could find that offered dinner space for 300+ people. We were looking at 250-325. The venue looked gorgeous and we were assured the wedding capacity for a sit-down dinner is at 325, which I do have in writing. We also rented the top floor for our ceremony. We started getting concerned as we saw a couple weddings posted on their social media page and have heard comments from some that have been there saying it was extremely tight, claustrophobic and that was with even a much smaller wedding size than ours. This had us very concerned. Wally assured us he can fit us all in and had us come to his open house in November and see for ourselves. It was apparent to our entire group it would be extremely and uncomfortably tight. I voiced my opinion to Wally where he then again over-promised that 300 on the main floor will fit just fine. We weren't buying it. Attached is what he had drawn up for a seating arrangement. As you can see this would be extremely tight, uncomfortable for our guests, unsafe and almost impossible to make it up to the bar. He had tables on the dance floor, right up to the stairs and the bar. Too many blind spots to mention. I am going to leave it at this as I could say so much more. The lack of professionalism, lies and over-promising was beyond absurd. I do believe this venue is beautiful and works great for the right kind of party. As for a wedding, if you are promised 325 people (or even a bit less) can fit comfortably-please take a look at the attached seating chart and I think you can draw your own conclusion. With his blatant over-promising of space on the main level and a 10.5 month notice we gave him, Wally refused to give me one penny back of our deposit which included half down of the venue, ceremony room AND bar bill! I asked for a portion and he screamed back to me NO. I asked if he filled the date can we get a portion refunded due to over-promising, he told me to get lost. Just beware and make sure you have everything clearly written in your contract. The contract he gave us was extremely vague and unprofessional so I didn't have much to go back on. Again, my fault for trusting and signing before construction was done. Just do your reaearch!
