Beautiful place and kept everything running smooth
My parents and my sister had their wedding reception at The DeSoto, so it was a no-brainer where we were going to have our wedding reception. But we got so lucky in having Charlene coordinate our reception with us. She is so funny and always smiling and laughing. It felt like she was on our team and I loved every interaction I had with her. My husband is in the military, and she was not at all deterred by a huge group of military officers and an open bar. She was up for any challenge and she was happy to help with every vision I had for our wedding. There was an event at the venue in the morning, but she executed back to back large events flawlessly. Everything was perfect.
We got married at the Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist in downtown Savannah back in August and had our Reception at The DeSoto & it truly was amazing! For all brides getting married at the Cathedral, The DeSoto is literally one block away!! Therefore, having our Reception at The DeSoto was a no-brainer!
Most of our guests took advantage of the Group Block, and it was truly wonderful to have all of our guests in one place for the weekend. The hotel itself has multiple different event spaces to accommodate almost every size event, including a wonderful pool area on the second level with an awesome bar/lounge area (& the bartender was a hoot!) There are two restaurants located within the hotel which was nice because we basically had an informal meet-and-greet the night before the wedding. Oh, and there's like a library area situated in the bar, which was such an amazing spot for all of the Groomsmen to get ready, and made for really nice photographs.
Working with Charlene was amazing!! She made us feel extremely comfortable, providing recommendations and advice when requested. One of the nice things about the wedding packages offered at The DeSoto is they all include the basic wedding services: catering, cake cutting, champagne toast, bar services, dance floor, etc. & the packages range in price to accommodate all budgets. It truly made the entire wedding planning process a lot easier having most of everything and everyone in one centralized spot.
I would totally recommend all future brides getting married in Savannah to book The DeSoto; you will not be disappointed!
We can't wait to go back and visit and just soak in all of the wonderful things that took place there during our wedding weekend!!
Our wedding experience at the DeSoto could not have been better. Abby Mew was so helpful and made the planning very easy. The ballroom was beautiful and she worked so well with our vendors. The food was absolutely delicious--- the most difficult part was choosing our menu since everything that we had at the tasting was so good. My daughter’s wedding was at the Cathedral and we had a lot of out of town guests, so the DeSoto was the perfect hotel. The DeSoto staff worked well with us as we determined how many rooms we needed for our wedding block. (And the block rate was reasonable.) The groom’s parents hosted welcome cocktails on the DeSoto patio the night before the wedding and it was a perfect introduction to the wedding weekend. The front desk was also very helpful. All in all, the DeSoto is a beautiful reception venue and Abby Mew will make it easy so you can enjoy the party!
We had our ceremony and reception at The DeSoto. We had a beautiful ceremony in the Pulaski bringing the outdoors in with the curtains open. The cocktail hour was on the front patio. It was beautiful. Our reception was in the Madison Ballroom with a gorgeous set up for our families to gather and dance the night away. Ann was amazing to work with - Always a quick response and very detailed. Thank you for making our day special and as beautiful and smooth running as we could have ever imagined.
The DeSoto was not helpful, terrible with communication, and I Would not recommend them which is a shame because the venue is so beautiful.
Although they are no longer a Hilton - they are a spectacular venue for a wedding reception. My daughter's wedding weekend was spectacular. The De Soto hotel is located in walking distance of St. John and the staff is awesome from Housekeeping to Catering as well as front desk and reservations. We only had to pick up the phone for service once to get a Bellman when we left. They constantly checked on us and our guests during our stay. The view from the Harbor View room is breath taking and the wedding reception guests enjoyed the view and the food. The staff works extremely well with all vendors. In short, they are greats hosts and know how to do a wedding. We looked at several venues before choosing them...I don't know why we bothered - they are the best.
We reserved a block for our wedding. The sales manager was very helpful in arranging our block, however, the front desk and customer service was horrible.
We left a number of gift bags at the front desk, which were to be given to the guests in our block. Unfortunately, the front desk never handed the gift bags to our guests. We spent a great amount of time, as well as money, on these bags and it was a frustrating to learn that no one received them. We were not given an explanation, and when we went to retrieve the gift bags, the front desk employees were a bit rude and short with us.
Our guests also informed us that the front desk was short and rude with them as well when checking in.
The sales manager was very helpful and the hotel is very nice, however, we were left disappointed as a result of the front desk.
We had our ceremony and reception at the Hilton Desoto. It was so easy to work with Stacia at the Hilton. She and the entire staff went above and beyond to provide the best service. Our wedding went smoothly and was absolutely beautiful because of all of the details that they managed. Delicious food, great view from the Harborview room, and excellent service! A memorable and perfect wedding!
We chose the Hilton for our reception and they also catered the food. This was a destination wedding for us, so we had a lot of communication via email. Megan was very patient with us in working on the budget and menu. I think we went through numerous options, but it all worked out in the end. We even got to meet the chef during our visit to Savannah a month before the wedding. He was very friendly and accommodating on changes to the menu. We had guests from various parts of the US, so the taste in food varied. Some liked the temp to which the steak was cooked and some didn't. However, that kind of thing is expected with 170 people but it was cooked how we ordered it. We used the Oglethorpe room. It is rich in mahogany color with a huge chandelier in the middle. The pictures came out amazing. I highly recommend this room. Overall, our experience with the Hilton was great. It's tough planning a wedding, but they helped make it a little easier.
I had the pleasure of having my wedding ceremony and reception at the Savannah Hilton DeSoto in historic Savannah. It was wonderful, the staff was extremely helpful and nice not only to me, but to my entire wedding party. We had a lot of out of town guests and they were also very impressed with the hotel. My ceremony was perfect ant the reception was up on the 15 floor Harbor View Room...and it was breathtaking! Many thanks to the Hilton...I highly recommend this venue!!
The DeSoto was amazing. Beth Miller was undoubtably the most incredible event coordinator. The food was spectacular, prices extremely reasonable, atmosphere breathtaking, and the entire experience wonderful. The entire staff works to make sure that your special day is a day to remember and is everything you could ever imagine. While the hotel is not shiny and new, it epitomizes the true spirit of Savannah. I was happy with every detail of my wedding and I would reccommend this venue to everyone. I never had trouble contacting Beth and she was always accomodating to my schedule. They are familiar with local vendors and are willing to work with last minute changes. They made my wedding a truly memorable event.
We had our reception in the Harborview room on the top floor of the Hilton. We loved that we had the whole floor to ourselves with a very 'private party' feel. The room has 3 walls of windows with breathtaking views of downtown Savannah.;Guests had to ride the elevator all the way to the ground floor of the hotel and then walk through the lobby to get outside. We had quite a few guests who smoke and spent much of the reception outside, far away from the party.
The view of the city and the river from the Harborview Room is phenomenal. The staff went above and beyond to help us plan and decorate. They even helped us with our centerpieces and delivered food to our suite after the reception was over. Fantastic!;The Harborview Room at night can be quite dark, so be sure to take into account natural lighting, candles, etc, when planning your pictures.
