I cannot speak highly enough of our wedding experience with the Driskill. We had a 130 person wedding there in early March and it was the most seamless, perfect night. Lily was our point person from the beginning and she worked with us for the last year and a half to ensure we had the perfect day. She answered our million questions and worked with us through an unexpected date change. Again, I cannot speak highly enough of the entire Driskill staff and our experience.
Amazing venue - Incredible customer service. Paige Kramer helped us from the initial walk through, meal tasting, layout for cocktail hour, reception dinner, cake cutting and dancing. Worked magic getting all five family members into their suites. Valet, Checkin, banquet staff, bartenders - all exceptional. It was a perfect wedding weekend.
We had our wedding at The Driskill last night, and we could not be happier!
To start, the space is gorgeous. Our ceremony was in the Crystal Room, and reception in the Victorian Room. Both were perfect. The Driskill accommodated all of our vendors, and they were so kind to our guests.
Paige & Lily supported us throughout the planning process, held a tasting, secured us a prep space, and helped us make good decisions for ourselves and for our guests.
The service we received on the big day was impeccable. The staff was thoughtful, kind, and made us feel so welcome and special. We received so many compliments from our guests about the food, the bar, the service, and the lovely space.
Choosing The Driskill as our venue was the best decision, and I highly recommend it!
Any questions?
What an amazing venue! Our daughter had originally planned to marry in April 2020 at a small start-up outdoor venue in Austin. When the pandemic hit, Austin instituted a ban on large gatherings for businesses. As a result, that venue was unable to fulfill our original plans, imposed rescheduling deadlines that were impossible to manage since both the bride and groom work in healthcare, and refused to refund our deposit. As a result, we lost over $5000 to that venue. The rehearsal dinner had been planned for The Driskill. The Driskill immediately refunded that deposit to the groom's family. The couple then planned a California elopement for August 2020 which had to be cancelled due to wild fires in California. The couple opted for a lovely parents/sibling-only backyard wedding in August 2020 which was perfect. A Marriage Celebration was planned at The Driskill for Labor Day 2020. With the pandemic still a concern, that celebration was cancelled. Once again, The Driskill refunded deposits and worked with us to reschedule for May 2021 in hopes the pandemic would be under control. Thankfully, we were able to have all family and friends in attendance for a Marriage Celebration in May 2021 at The Driskill. Throughout the entire process, The Driskill was gracious, understanding, and worked with both families to enable us to finally celebrate the couple. Every aspect of the celebration was excellent. The Driskill worked with all our vendors to execute a perfect celebration. Kristin Davis, CMP, Senior Wedding Specialist, communicated consistently and did an outstanding job working with both families to plan an amazing evening. The food was perfect, and the service provided by the wait staff and bartenders was exceptional. The Driskill is a well-oiled machine when it comes to hosting events! We do not have another daughter for whom to plan a wedding, but if we did, we would go with The Driskill!
I am the mother of the bride and had the lead role in planning my daughter’s wedding because she lives out of state. I cannot say enough about the service I received from Kristin, the senior wedding planner. The vendor list she provided paved the way for a smooth planning process and a drama free wedding day. Kristin answered all of my questions on a timely basis and was so helpful! She kept me on track throughout the 14 months leading up to the big day. It was a seemless transition when my outside wedding planner started communicating with Kristin and the vendors she recommended.
The Driskill facility was the perfect venue, we loved having the five suites on the mezzanine level and it was great to have separate rooms for hair and makeup, a boardroom for the guys to hang out, a beautiful suite for the first reveal for the bride and FOB. and a room for the band and dancing.
The service was another bright spot! The service personnel were very professional and eager to help. Some had very long tenure with the hotel, that says a lot about the management of the Driskill Hotel.
The rehearsal afternoon tea was so much fun and took place in another beautiful room. The quality of the food and service was excellent. My guests were stashing the leftovers to take with them!
The guests loved their rooms and the location of the Driskill. Many of them said they thought they had been upgraded because their room was so nice. Ninety percent of our guests were from out of state and loved learning about the rich history of the Driskill.
Overall, Kristin’s leadership and guidance make the Driskill an excellent choice for your wedding! Nothing seemed out the question for her to make happen. “For you I will do this” was one of my favorite lines from her.
Good luck with your planning!
The Driskill was amazing to work with - very professional, helpful and flexible. I would definitely have another event there in the future. Kristin Davis did a great job!
Our wedding at the Driskill was a dream and Kristin Davis, the senior wedding specialist, was a huge part of that. She was kind, responsive, patient (we had a million questions!) and professional. The entire team at the Driskill was wonderful and the food was DELICIOUS! We've been to a lot of weddings where the food was eh but not ours! Guests RAVED about the food for days! Thank you to the Driskill and Kristin for our dream wedding!
In the mid-1990s, my mother and I attended my cousin’s wedding at the Driskill, and it was so fabulous that I told my then six-year-old daughter: “When you grow up, I want you to get married at the Driskill.” Fast forward to this past Saturday, and the dream came true.
Planning during Covid was a challenge. We had to postpone the wedding for 8 months, but the Driskill, and the wedding coordinator Kristin Davis, shepherded us through every decision and answered every question, no matter how trivial or redundant. The Driskill also took care of Covid protocols to keep our guests safe, and yet we truly threw the party of the decade (at least so far). In a strange way, the fact that we could even have the celebration, with so many vaccinated, made the wedding even more joyous.
The setting: so beautiful that you can save on flowers. The interior is so dramatic and historic.
The food: Chef Jose is amazing. The food was incredibly delicious, and we were able to offer five choices of entrees.
The bar service: Such great service that the bartender poured my second Aperol spritz before I had to ask.
Dancing: There’s a separate ballroom for dancing, which is fabulous because it allows for those who would rather converse a quieter place to do so while the dancers can have at it.
If you love history and tradition and a full-service wedding venue, the Driskill is perfect. I know outdoor weddings are the rage, but after Covid, who wants to worry about something else they can’t control, like the weather? Our guests also loved staying in central Austin. I can’t recommend the Driskill enough. I am so grateful.
What we planned for our wedding to be: spring 2021, 300 guests, food stations, select signature cocktails, other venue.
What our wedding actually was: fall 2020, 30 guests, sit-down steak/chicken dinner, open bar, the Driskill.
While it was not what we had originally planned, the Driskill went above and beyond to turn our Wedding Plan B into the wedding of our dreams! Their team was responsive to all of our requests and gave us so many options without being overwhelming. They handled everything perfectly so we only had to hire a few other vendors and coordination between everyone was so smooth. And all for a very affordable price! We had such an amazing experience and highly recommend the Driskill!
The Driskill was fabulous and beautiful and our wedding was amazing.
Pros:
-The package comes with a lot, you get 5 suites your wedding night for you and your close family to use and they are all off of the Mezzanine so you can literally walk right into your room .
-The hotel is so ornate you really don't need to go over the top with decor if you don't want to. The venue speaks for itself.
-If you get married in the Fall like we did the hotel will be decorated for Christmas which was beautiful.
- You can go black tie and everyone will love it, trust me. The old world hotel has guests feeling like they are straight out of Great Gatsby.
-REALLY worked with us during Covid, extremely safe protocols but maintain aesthetic.
-The staff is incredibly accommodating and you will be taken care of fully.
-Location is prime for going out after/before, right on 6th. Plenty for your guests to do.
-Your wedding will be epic.
Cons
-It is expensive, though comparable to most other hotel weddings in Austin.
-Parking for guests is expensive, you can really only valet. However parking anywhere downtown is always like this.
-Large homeless community in downtown can be off-putting for guests not used to Austin.
-No outdoor ceremony option, there are balconies but that would be for a small wedding.
-They no longer make cakes in their package so you have to bring in your own.
-Driskill will strongly recommend their 'approved' vendors but we chose my own and they did a fabulous job. We had a black tie wedding and saved thousands by choosing our own planners/florists etc. Go with your gut.
Overall, if you can swing it, go for it. Like I said , your wedding will be epic and everyone is sure to have an incredible time.
We got married and spent our wedding weekend at the Driskill on Halloween of 2020 and it was the best weekend of our lives! Kristin and everyone at the Driskill went above and beyond to make sure we had the best experience. My family is still talking about how much fun they had at our wedding and how perfect the Driskill experience was! 10/10 recommend this venue for your wedding!!!
The Driskill was outstanding to work with. My daughter’s wedding was in July 2020 during the pandemic. The Driskill couldn’t have been more accommodating to keep everyone safe. I highly recommend this hotel for any event! They were wonderful to work with and the food and accommodations were outstanding.
We are absolutely looking forward a future wedding reception at the Driskill! We decided to temporarily put our wedding on hold because of the current situation with Covid. I can't praise the Driskill enough for their flexibility on all of the cancellation policies. They really care about the couples and their families and want everyone to have a great experience. Kristin who manages the events is truly a class act.
As soon as we were engaged, my husband and I knew The Driskill was the perfect ceremony and reception space for our wedding. Many of our friends and family were coming from out-of-state, so they were awed both by the hotel's history and its prime downtown location.
What we couldn't have known when we booked The Driskill was how extraordinary it would be to work with their staff throughout the process. Their expertise took so much hassle out of our wedding planning!
From start to finish, Kristin was incredibly talented, professional, and kind. She has a positive "get to yes" attitude and made sure everything we wanted for our wedding day happened. Chef Alan and Chef Mark went above and beyond to make a custom soup based on a favorite from my hometown -- and they even did a special tasting to make sure it was just right. We were told by several guests it was the best food they've ever had at a wedding! Modesta and Ramon, our dedicated servers on the night of our wedding, made us feel like royalty.
Finally, it will work to your benefit that The Driskill (and Kristin in particular!) has relationships with just about every vendor in town. From initial recommendations to set-up on the big day, these relationships with help everything run smoothly.
My daughter and her husband chose The Driskill for their wedding ceremony and reception because of the historic significance of the hotel and its grand architecture. It was meaningful to my husband and me as well since we had our own wedding reception at the hotel over 40 years ago. What we could not know when our daughter decided it was the place for her was how wonderful the entire staff at The Driskill would be to work with. From the valet stand and front desk personnel, to the culinary team, and the sales associates, and especially Kristin, we had an extremely positive experience with the support, expertise, and care we received from them through the entire process. We would highly recommend The Driskill to any other bride, groom and family considering it for their special day.
The Driskill has always been a special place for me and my husband. We had one of our first dates there, regularly eat breakfast at Cafe 1886, and got engaged there--so there was no question we wanted to have our wedding reception there! To say our experience with the Driskill was magical would be an understatement. It was PERFECT. Throughout our year-long engagement we were in constant communication with Kristin, who answered hundreds of questions to put us at ease and make our day perfect. And when the day finally arrived there were so many little things that were above and beyond what we could have imagined! Our rooms on the Mezzanine level were gorgeous and it was SO convenient to be on the same floor as our party! Our private server Modesta was an absolute dream--she fed us before the craziness began and made sure we never had an empty glass, THE ENTIRE NIGHT! Our guests RAVED about the food and our wedding cake, both prepared by the Driskill chefs. I know everyone says this, but I SO wish we could go back and do it all over again because I wouldn't have changed a thing! Having our wedding at the Driskill is something we will 100% never forget!
The Driskill staff were very attentive before, during, and even after our daughter's wedding. They really made us all feel welcome and were calm during all the planning and setting up. The venue itself is gorgeous and there are lots of room choices. Great location for both locals and out of towners to enjoy themselves over the wedding weekend.
The Driskill is an absolutely beautiful venue with so much history! We got married in November on the mezzanine level. We had a somewhat unique ceremony layout and then held a reception with dinner and dancing in the same space, and the room flip was executed perfectly. We got so many compliments from guests on the venue atmosphere and the food. They were really flexible on the food and wine, so we were able to create a special and delicious menu! We also had a welcome party in the Chisholm Trail Room at the bar the night before the wedding. We were able to book the mezzanine suites on both nights of the wedding weekend, as well as arrange a room block for our guests. The rooms are gorgeous, and it was so nice to stay right there at our venue! The downtown location can't be beat, and we didn't have to worry about bad weather. The whole staff was so professional and knowledgeable during the planning process, and they really took great care of us on the wedding day. Kristin was especially instrumental in making our wedding perfect! Her knowledge of local vendors and the Driskill was so helpful. I highly recommend booking the Driskill for your wedding!
Choosing The Driskill as our reception venue was 100% the best decision we made during the planning process! The entire Driskill team is TOP NOTCH! Kristin made planning a breeze, Katie always responded immediately, and the day of staff couldn't have been more on their a-game. Our reception was flawless, and I am so incredibly grateful for all the hard work from The Driskill team (especially Kristin)! The venue is an iconic historic landmark in the center of downtown Austin, which made it perfect for all of our out of town guests. All of our guests raved over the food, and how the steaks were amazing! I would highly recommend The Driskill to any couple looking for a wedding venue!
The best decision I made while planning a wedding was choosing the Driskill as our venue. I was more of a "hands off" bride and the Driskill made planning a wedding from another city almost too easy. Katie and Nicole were PERFECTION and couldn't have been more responsive and attentive. They're also so friendly and simply joys to work with. We booked with the Driskill after touring 10+ venues. They then provided us with a master list of the best vendors, which made my life even easier (thank you to Tiffany Hofeldt, Barbara's Brides, and the rest of the team). Our wedding of 120 guests took place in the Citadel Room with the reception in the Victorian Room and I wouldn't have changed a thing. The food was amazing, the backdrop stunning, and all the people involved were accommodating and so kind. Everyone at the Driskill also takes special care of the bride and groom and one of my favorite memories is the little private dinner my husband and I had before making our reception entrance. I absolutely recommend staying in one of the balcony suites (we stayed in the Brazos Suite and also had the Yellow Rose Suite as another "get ready" room) for the best photos and views. I'm so happy with how everything turned out and it was the best night ever.
Our wedding ceremony and reception at the Driskill were a dream! Not only is the Driskill one of the most historic, beautiful and classy venues in Austin, but also home to the best staff and top notch customer service. Katie and Kristin were professional, responsive, creative, kind and so easy to work with. We wanted a southern menu and Katie helped us create an off-the-menu plated dinner with duck fat fried chicken! Our guests raved about the food! And, our signature cocktail was such a hit! Katie kept us updated on our room block list, and answered any and every question we had (and we had a lot) during the planning process! The day of the wedding everything went so smoothly and the staff exceeded our expectations with their kindness and service! Our attendant made sure our drinks were never empty and we had plenty of water. We are so thankful we chose the Driskill for our wedding and would HIGHLY RECOMMEND it!
Where do I even begin? Our wedding day was pretty much flawless thanks in part to the Driskill. Kristin and Katie are so patient, knowledgeable, and professional. I never once felt stressed during the planning process because they made it so easy. I really thought we would quickly get priced out because other hotels had, but luckily for us that wasn't the case. I'm paranoid about weather, so my husband and I refused the idea of an outdoor wedding.
Pros:
1. They make sure you eat dinner. That's a pretty big deal
2. The event staff helps with everything - set up, take down, clean up, everything magically ended up in our room at the end of the night.
3. Everyone is 100% a pro
4. We had our own attendant to make sure we were comfortable
5. The food was incredible. Our guests loved it.
6. They have everything you need there, so it takes a lot of stress off - plates, tables, linens...
7. It's The Driskill!! It's gorgeous as is, so we didn't worry about buying decorations. The venue doesn't need it
There are no cons. Have your wedding here.
We recently hosted our daughter's and son-in-law's wedding reception at The Driskill. In a word, it was magical, from the point on planning of Kristin and Katie, to the impeccable service and delicious food and cake!! Two of our servers, Modesta and Ramon were especially outstanding. The venue itself is gorgeous, rich with marble floorings and columns. We loved every minute of our time at The Driskill and would highly recommend it to that couple looking for a magical Austin wedding!
Kristin is fantastic to work with - her entire team is incredible. Having The Driskill as our venue took a lot of stress off of us—you don't have to worry about food/drink service (they are masters at it and Chefs Christian and Colton are amazing), you don't have to worry about cake—the cake Tony made for us was legit the best cake I've ever had in my life—and the setting is gorgeous. Modesta, one of our servers during the reception, was especially wonderful (quite possibly the sweetest woman on earth—Driskill needs to hold onto her!), as well as Ramon, a server at our tasting, who was so nice. We had our wedding around Christmas so it was extra special for our guests to see their beautiful tree in the lobby upon arrival. Would most definitely recommend The Driskill to other couples.
We could not have been more satisfied with our wedding at the Driskill. The coordinating team made life easy, working directly with our planner and executing the event without a hitch!
Our guests were also all complimentary of the accommodations, food, and service.
Our event liaison, Kristin, was awesome and fun to work with.
We highly recommend the Driskill for anyone looking for the perfect wedding.
I dreamed of getting married at the Driskill Hotel since I was a little girl, and it did not disappoint! Our wedding was a dream come true! The timeless beauty of the Driskill was a gorgeous setting for our New Year's Eve wedding. Kristin Prindle, the onsite coordinator, was so wonderful to work with. She was so friendly, easy to work with, and always quick to reply to any questions we had. The food was amazing, and the Driskill was incredibly accommodating of our entirely gluten free wedding. We also loved that the Driskill assigned my husband and I a staff member for the evening, who always checked in on us and brought us refreshed drinks or anything else we might need. Modesta was wonderful, and remembered us at the next event we went to at the Driskill! I can't imagine a venue more perfect for our wedding day! I would recommend the Driskill to anyone and everyone!
Our wedding at the Driskill could not have been more magical. Kristen and Katie exceeded our expectations and their attention to detail was spectacular. They were on top of everything and guided us through every step. Any question(and their were a lot:)) was answered stat. Our search for venues was extensive and the Driskill won! The Driskill said 'yes' where other venues said 'no' to such things as outside vendors. We were also whisked away to a private dinner after our ceremony. The historical aspect of the hotel is enough, but add in the wedding team and you have the perfect recipe. I wish we could get married again. Thanks Driskill! I'd put one hundred stars in there was room. We highly recommend booking the Driskill for your wedding venue.
The Driskill was absolutely beautiful and we loved getting married there. It's in a great location, in the middle of the city which was fun for our out of town guests. In addition, the food was AMAZING, maybe the highlight of the wedding for me. People say you don't eat at your own wedding, but I made time for it because the food was just that good (and the cake, such good cake!)
The service day of was impeccable, we especially loved having a dedicated staff member taking care of the bride and groom, such an amazing touch that made the day even more special.
Kristin and the events team were so great. They were always easy to reach and willing to go above and beyond to answer our never ending questions, as well as meet with us at the venue to walk through different aspects or see the space.
We were so happy with this choice!
I had my wedding reception at The Driskill Hotel in June 2018. The Driskill staff did a seamless job to make sure our big day was absolutely flawless. The service was impeccable and there wasn't a single detail missed. Our on-site Event Planner, Kristin Prindle, was wonderful to work with. She was there to walk us through the planning process from beginning to end and was always very prompt and professional. Overall, we had a great experience with The Driskill Hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone. We could not have chosen a better venue for our special day.
The Driskill hotel was the perfect venue for our wedding. Kristin was extremely easy to work with and accommodated all of my crazy detail changes. :) The wedding night went off perfectly and impressed not only us, but also the guests with the level of service and detail. Wonderful venue for any occasion and in a truly Texan atmosphere. You will not be disappointed!
We were married here in April. They went above and beyond to make our day so very special. They were very helpful and allowed us so much freedom in making our day our very own. Our special day would have been nearly as magical without Kristin and her team working with us. We were able to just enjoy ourselves because we knew they had it all handled. I would recommended it to anyone looking for an elegant, historical place to have their special day.
It an amazing night in an Amazing venue!!
Beautiful venue, outstanding service, and great value. Kristin was very helpful throughout the planning process, especially thinking of small details we might have otherwise overlooked. She also made herself available to us as often as needed for meetings and phone calls. We would recommend this venue to anyone, but especially large weddings (250+).
The Driskill Hotel exceeded my expectations! Nicole and team were so fabulous to work with and quickly responded to my emails and calls during the planning process. They made planning a wedding in 7 weeks stress free....And that is saying ALOT from a Type A person like myself. We had the most perfect ceremony in the Citadel Club and then a delicious seated dinner in the Citadel Room. AND THE CAKE....the pastry chef is AMAZING...I shared a picture via email and everyone was so impressed with not only the style but the flavor. I don't typically like wedding cake but Espresso Tiramisu flavored cake had me (and everyone) eating every bite! After a carriage ride departure, we returned to meet our guests at The Driskill Bar for more fun and dancing to the live music. The next morning everyone enjoyed breakfast at the 1886 Bakery or the Sunday Blues Brunch. Thank you so much for making our wedding so memorable and we cant wait to come stay a night there again soon!
I cannot imagine a better wedding and reception venue than the historic Driskill Hotel. With the entire Mezzanine level at our disposal, we enjoyed both privacy and glamour from its marble columns, to its beautiful woodwork to its gorgeous suites and balconies. And that’s just the physical space. The staff and service are first rate. We had 270 guests and everyone marveled at how quickly and expertly the food, which was delicious, was served. In short, our Driskill experience was worth every cent from beginning to end!
Wedding Venue must! The service you receive at the Driskill is unmatched! Marcos, our event manager, made the process a dream and I could not have imagined a more perfect day because of the their amazing team, food and gorgeous venue. My husband and I highly recommended this venue and we so glad to have had the honor to have our wedding at such a historical and memorable place. Thank you Marcos!
We held our rehearsal dinner for my son's wedding at the Driskill in April and could not have been more pleased. Kristin was wonderful to work with and was always very responsive to our questions and concerns. The quality of the service and the food was outstanding. If you have a lot of out-of-town guests like we did, there is no place in Austin that you can go that would be more impressive to your guests than The Driskill. The history and the unique Texas charm of the facility along with the outstanding food and service just cannot be matched. My only concern was we may have outdone the actual wedding which was held elsewhere.
Words cannot describe how amazing this venue is! Our wedding was a dream and couldn’t have asked for a more perfect space. ALL the staff was extremely helpful and accommodating! Modesta, our personal attendant, was phenomenal throughout the entire night providing exceptional service. Kristin, who’s is in charge of weddings and events did a great job making sure everything went smoothly. If you are in the Austin area and need a venue, this is the place to go. I did my ceremony and reception there and everyone loved it!
We recently had our daughters wedding at the Driskill
It was magical
If u are looking for a downtown experience without a big box hotel feeling this is the place
Loved having the whole Mezzanine floor for our bridal party. Try to obtain the Cattle Baron suite the evening before the wedding for your bridal party to dress
It has a dining room that seats 8 people and two bedrooms and two baths.
The event staff worked with us to tweak the menu and the food was delicious. Our guests were very happy with their meal.
You have so many rooms that are included ( cake room, room for an extra bar) that would wont know what to do with it all
These people are true professionals, have seen it all and done it all. You just have to imagine and they will accommodate
It was the wedding of our daughters dreams, our guests continue to state it was the best experience they have had at a wedding.
Love the driskill
Overnight parking Is 40.00
Valet parking is 20.00
You can pay for your guests if u want to.
Again, a downtown experience right off 6th and a block from the Capitol.
Having our New Year's Eve wedding at The Driskill was one of the best decisions we have ever made! Living in Austin, we always knew of The Driskill's history - so when we got engaged, we thought we should check it out for a venue. Well, once you see the Mez Ballroom - you won't want to look elsewhere! There are also so many other rooms that come with the Driskill wedding package - including 5 suites the night of your wedding!
We had a large wedding - 220 guests - and right from the start, The Driskill was amazing. I had the opportunity to work with both Hannah the first 6 months of the year and then Kristin the last 6 months of the year to help with planning. Both were top notch! Our wedding was definitely expensive and my parents had some questions along the way - every time we reached out to Kristin, she would respond within a few hours (even on her days off)!
The entire weekend of our wedding was magical - Kristin and the ENTIRE staff at the Driskill went above and beyond for all of our families/friends coming into town. The day of our wedding, the staff made me feel like a princess. I always had a drink in my hand, Kristin helped me fix my dress when anything went wrong, and they made our wedding party feel so at ease. You really don't even need a wedding coordinator (if you're organized like my mom was) because the staff here is incredible.
I cannot recommend The Driskill enough as a wedding venue - small, medium, large weddings - it's the best! Thank you for everything Kristin and team!
My wife and I had our wedding at the Driskill a few weeks ago. It was amazing. The Victorian Room and the Crystal Room are gorgeous; the staff was on the ball and super helpful. The food was absolutely amazing.
Kristen and her team rock.
The Driskill created the most elegant and timeless wedding venue for me and my husband. We used the Driskill Ballroom for our ceremony and the Mezzanine level for our reception. It was an absolute dream.
The stunning interior speaks for itself. The beauty and historical personality of each room does not require excessive decorations or floral arrangements to create a jaw-dropping, romantic atmosphere. The centralized downtown location was also ideal for our many out-of-state guests, who could easily arrive from the airport, adventure throughout the heart of Austin, and continue the festivities on Sixth Street after the wedding. Our guests raved of The Driskill's beauty and all of their Austin adventures; the only thing that was possibly raved about more was the food. The Driskill creates a fabulous menu that is, of course, well beyond anything that you have ever been served at a wedding.
Imagine--the staff at The Driskill match, if not exceed, the beauty of this historical hotel. Kristin Prindle, our saving grace, is the epitome of personable professionalism. Kristin, Olena, and every other staff member that we worked closely with were responsive, incredibly helpful, and their diligent work resulted in a truly stress-free wedding weekend.
I attended one of my closest friends weddings at The Driskill over the weekend and had one of the most bizarre, awful experiences with their staff and management, based on that I would absolutely not recommend The Driskill for weddings based on their treatment of wedding guests. After the wedding wrapped our wedding party went down to the bar for a drink and placed a food order with a visibly pissed off waitress. She was insanely rude and clearly furious we were ordering food (even though the kitchen was open). We wrote it off and didn't make anything of it, until we tried to order a drink at the bar and were told our "last names" wouldn't be allowed to order. Not because we were cut off, but he didn't explain why, just smirked at us like he was incredulous we were even asking. We then got a drink from another wedding guest before the also-visibly-pissed-off manager stormed over and told us the server "felt threatened" earlier in the night. What?!?! We had never even spoke one word to the server aside from placing an order, and were seated and in a good mood when we placed it. It couldn't have been construed as threatening in any possible sense of the word. It was the waitress who was actually the rude one in that situation. I'm not sure if she was lying to the manager after being spotted being a jerk to guests or something, but whatever it was it was an absolute lie and we treated like garbage by each one of the Driskill staff for it. Then we turn around and the manager has also called the cops on us. What?! Now I was the pissed off one. We were there for a friends wedding and yet we were treated like the scum of the earth criminals? Huh?! The whole thing was bizarre and humiliating. Not to mention the bride and groom were horrified.

Hannah was the absulote best planner we could have asked for. She answered any questions I had and made brilliant suggestions to make me comfortable on my wedding day. The chef and pastry chef were accommodating to all we needed with our fluctuating guest list. The food was 5 star and the cake was the best I've had! It was a wonderful day and everything went so smoothly thanks to Hannah and the wonderful staff at the hotel. We would definitely do it again at The Driskill! Oh and I reccomend the brunch at the cafe the next morning!
The Driskill is an amazing venue. One of the oldest in TX and supposedly haunted! Fun! The service is top notch. You don't have to find many outside vendors because the hotel offers such a nice setting and atmosphere...not many other decoration is needed. The event staff is knowledgeable, helpful, and kind. My husband and I had an amazing time and they included a few perks that we thought went above and beyond to accommodate us and make sure we had the best event possible. WE DID. Thank you Hannah and Marcos for your incredible service! One Love.
This review is long overdue... On January 28th, 2017, I married the love of my life & we had the pleasure of having our reception at The Driskill Victorian Room! Everything about it was magnificent...from the stay in the Yellow Rose Bridal Suite, to dancing the night away & the white-rose petal send off on the main floor of the hotel.
The staff & service was unmatched. I started to plan about 7 months ahead of time with the wedding coordinator on site named Hannah. She was so thorough, patient & really helped to explain the different options. The main location where most weddings and receptions happen at The Driskill is the 2nd floor Mezzanine. While that was beautiful and exquisite, it was a little too "grand" for my party of 120 people, & honestly, over my budget. Hannah worked out the budget in detail with me & met me at a place I felt comfortable, offering for me to use the fabulous two story Victorian Room as a compromise to bring the price down, & offering a slightly different twist on how dinner would be served.
After we chose the location, our next order of business to work out was the food. We are HUGE foodies and LOVE local, healthy, gluten-free (whenever possible) & DELICIOUS eats. We did not have it in our budget to serve a sit down dinner, but we did want stations of food with servers at each station. Some upstairs, some downstairs & all different types of seating arrangements. Some furniture & couches, some lounge areas, some bar & stand up tables & some traditional sit down tables. It provided a truly unique dining experience where people could freely move about the room to mingle & interact. After a couple tastings provided by The Driskill (when I say provided, I mean they literally treated us to a 5 star dining event!!!), everything they designed for us was Gluten-Free, by our request, & most of the food was locally sourced. This was HUGE reason we chose The Driskill... their food is really incredible! No matter how many questions or requests we had, the staff was able to answer every one of them in an incredibly timely manner.
The cake.... The Driskill really outdid themselves with this. The Bakery & Chef Tony Sansalone did a phenomenal job on our Gluten Free Strawberry Amaretto Cake. He even designed a surprise grooms cake (a request I decided on pretty last minute) which was REALLY special. They recreated their traditional 1886 Chocolate Cake (the hubby let me pick our wedding cake flavor, but I knew deep down in his heart he would want chocolate on his wedding day!) into a gluten free version shaped like George Harrison's Les Paul Guitar, "Lucy". It turned out beautifully & none of the guests could believe it was gluten free.
The wedding day went off without a hitch, thanks to the attentive staff & positive attitudes all around! I stayed at the Yellow Rose Suite with my sister & the bridesmaids arrived the morning of the wedding to get ready together. We had hired two ladies to come and do the hair & makeup for all the bridesmaids/wedding party in our suite, which worked out perfectly. I HIGHLY recommend the Yellow Rose Suite because of the space it provided.
We didn't have to even think about what our next move was going to be, because Hannah was there to guide us the entire way. My champagne glass wasn't empty all night long!
I never had a "dream wedding" in mind. But I can't think of a single detail I would change!
ps: Tamara Jones, the concierge, is AMAZING!
If The Driskill is within your budget, I don't understand why you would go anywhere else. Centrally located, it was easy for all of our out of town guests to find. The service is impeccable. Everyone from the valet to the caterer was first class. I cannot rave on Hannah Meyer and Marcos Lopez enough. They were truly a dream to work with for all of our annoying wedding planning questions. When our planning began, I knew the Driskill was my first choice but I figured it was out of our budget. But after working with a few blank space venues in town and calculating the expense of renting EVERYTHING out, I don't think it was much more in the end. Plus I didn't have to coordinate 10 vendors the day of the wedding! We were very flexible on wedding date so we asked when their slow season was. Luckily there were 3 Saturdays open in January. Because everything is indoors at the Driskill anyway, it didn't matter that it was 30 degrees outside. Most of our guests stayed at the Driskill, so it was very easy for everyone. They all loved Cafe 1886 too. The fact that most people stayed at the hotel really came in handy when our 90 year old grandmother wanted to go to bed early. No one had to drive her home. She simply walked up to her room while the party continued. And the event went off without a hitch. They really thought of everything. They even surprised us with some handmade bar signs for the reception. They had a calligrapher write on mirrors. It was beautiful. We could not have asked for a better team. Everyone was so professional. The food was DELICIOUS and served perfectly and quickly. When you book at the Driskill you get so much space!!! We used every square inch too. The Austin Room was the perfect place for my bridesmaids and I to get ready the day of. Great natural light. We used the Maximillian Room for a coffee lounge and quiet place during the wedding. We had the ceremony in the Driskill Ballroom then staff flipped it during dinner for the reception. Everything was effortless with their professional staff. And my favorite part is having a place to visit on anniversaries. We can stay for the night or just go for dinner. You can't get that if you get married in a barn in Dripping Springs. The Driskill Hotel is timeless and the best place to get married in Austin. You know it will always be there.
Dream come true wedding! It was the perfect venue for us! My husband being British was really worried about the Texas heat in September but we wanted a place that proudly showcased the deep Texas history, heritage and beauty to our friends and family that would be travelling from across the world to join us for our wedding. The service at the Driskill is unparalleled and I cannot thank Hannah and Kara enough for their amazing attention and quality of service throughout the night. If you needed even more reasons to love them, the banquet staff and chefs were amazing, even sourcing Gluten-free beer and a wedding cake for my Celiac husband! We had quite a few dietary requests and the team not only met all of them in stride but the food was SOOOOO mouthwatering! The Driskill absolutely made our wedding day fantastic and I cannot recommend them enough!
We stayed at the Driskill the night of our wedding and the following night before flying off to our honeymoon. This is a beautiful, famous, historical hotel that is old and expensive. We stayed in one of the bridal suites called the Renaissance. It was beautiful with a great view of 6th Street and a cute little balcony. There was a $100 pet fee. The room was amazing and the hotel is in the heart of downtown Austin but the overall experience was a little disappointing. Everyone was extremely friendly and the lobby was beautifully decorated for Christmas. It's very expensive for what you get.
The Driskill and their staff were great. They of course host weddings and other events all the time, so they know how to keep everything running smoothly. Their event manager Scott answered all of my very many e-mails very quickly, and was happy to answer every single little question I could think of. They made everything go off without a hitch, and they even made sure my husband and I got plenty of food and drink before the ceremony and during the reception. The Driskill also made sure we were perfectly happy with our reception menu, and their chef even made a special-order vegan hors d'oeuvre for our vegetarian guests. Everything looked and tasted wonderful, and if it's within your budget I would definitely recommend the Driskill.
We could not have asked for a better experience here! Scott E. was fantastic throughout the entire planning experience - we was quick to reply to emails and answer questions honestly. The day of, all of the Driskill staff were incredibly accommodating and attentive. Lisa helped keep everything in order and my nerves down. We LOVED the added touch of the personal attendants for my husband and me throughout the entire reception - they predicted our needs and happily complied with any requests. The food continues to be a talking point after with all of the guests. We look forward to coming back to the Driskill to celebrate our anniversaries for many, many years to come!
We worked with Amanda Tofflemire for our reception in the Driskill's Victorian Room and oh my goodness, how perfect everything turned out to be. I can't even count the number of things the Driskill staff did to make everything turn out perfectly. Every person we talked to did everything they could to make our stay comfortable. And it's not just because we were having an event there, that is just how top-quality this hotel staff truly is.
I stayed at the hotel with my bridesmaids the night before the wedding and from the valet service loading my car up that morning all the way up until the moment my husband and I left a couple of days later, we were treated almost like royalty... Especially at the reception. We had our ceremony in a church downtown and as soon as we hit the door at the Driskill, we were greeted with at least 4 staff members: 2 valet guys who helped us out of the car, Scott (the coordinator working with Amanda that day), and a wonderful woman named Sandra who was with my husband and I most of the night. She was at the door with both champagne and water for us and never let our glasses get empty the entire night.
The entire time we were treated with the utmost respect. I cannot sing Amanda's praises high enough either. Anything we needed done, she took care of. She met with us in person to decide the menu and cake choices and even let us take home a couple bottles of the Driskill's house wine to make sure we'd like it for our reception. She responded to almost every email quicker than I respond to most text messages. She left us a hand-written note in our room after the reception and made sure champagne and cake pops were waiting for us. Truly, she is wonderful. Oh, and more of the staff had taken all of our wedding gifts up to our room while we did our grand exit and said bye to guests. And then they loaded it all up in the car when we were ready to take everything home. That was so handy!
Do I even have to say anything about the hotel's beauty?? It's probably better said by people who are better with words than myself, but it is just SO gorgeous that I cannot say nothing, even if just to bring it up. Same goes for the food- everyone loved the food and loved the cakes even more (which were beautiful, delicious, and made by the Driskill's 1886 Cafe).
We definitely spent much, much more on our reception venue than anything else for our wedding, but it was so worth it. Being in the environment the Driskill created for our reception (on top of the already gorgeous hotel the Driskill is to begin with) made me feel like I was living a fairy tale the whole night.
My fiancé and I walked into The Driskill Hotel and I just knew I wanted to host our wedding reception at this charming, historic, quintessential Texas hotel. We worked with Amanda who was exceptional. She was professional, extremely experienced, detail oriented, friendly and quick with information and follow up. She made the planning process with the venue very easy. The reception was absolutely magical. The room was stunning! We hosted the reception on the mezzanine level. One of the reasons I chose The Driskill was because the mezzanine was already so beautiful that I didn't have to spend a lot of time or money to dress it up with a lot of décor. And the staff was on it! They didn't miss a beat. Service was prompt and friendly. Dinner was GREAT! And Amanda and her team, along with our wedding planner, made sure I didn't have to think of anything. Our guests were treated wonderfully and all of them commented on how much they enjoyed their stay at The Driskill. I cannot thank Amanda and The Driskill enough for making our day one we will remember for the rest of our lives. It truly was a fairy tale reception.
The Driskill was a "dream spot" for me. I never thought they would have my date (we planned in 90 days) or that they would be in my budget. I was shocked that they were both! The catering manager I worked with was amazing! The day of the wedding, everyone at the hotel treated us like we were the only guests despite the fact that there were three weddings going on, and we were the smallest. Our guests raved about the food, and the cake from the 1886 Bakery was amazing!
My Reception (20 years after the wedding before a Justice of the Peace) was small, about thirty people, but Scott at The Driskill treated me as if it was a large as and important as anyone else. The room was beautiful. The food was way above standard wedding food. The service was unobtrusive but impeccable.
I was doing the reception from LA and Scott sent me diagrams of the table layouts, advised me on what appetizers were well received (the lobster corndogs are incredible. I mean, just saying them is fun! And the smoked tomato soup? People who don't like tomato soup were blown away. It was incredible.) What color linens go well in the room, and where to rent them.
When I forgot to return the cake stand to my baker, he made sure it got back to her. The Driskill has been doing this forever. They were not the most expensive (the actual cost of the room is remarkably inexpensive, but you do have to use them as your caterer and they are never going to be a budget caterer. That said, you can get a lot more expensive than The Driskill with a hall and a standard caterer.)
All my vendors were familiar with them and they were familiar with my vendors. Things just went smoothly. If you want gorgeous, classy, experienced, go with The Driskill. And tell Scott hello.
The Driskill was the perfect place to have my wedding. The venue itself was exceptionally beautiful, but on top of that the event staff was 5 star. We had some issues with our room block, or rather, we had some issues getting the staff to book our guests' rooms properly, and the after-regular-hours staff didn't seem to know that we had a room block and weren't able to change it or book rooms in it.
That being said, everything about the EVENT itself was PERFECT. Scott (the Catering Manager) is absolute perfection. He is VERY responsive, polite, accommodating, and intuitive. He and I barely spoke about what I wanted in a cake until the week of the wedding (that was my bad) and he pulled out the most gorgeous cake I have ever seen. Seriously, he was AMAZING.
The valet staff were awesome too! We rented a VERY expensive exotic car for our getaway, and they took great care to make sure everything went well and the car was well cared for.
The catering staff prepared all the food to 100% perfection! Seriously, everyone keeps telling us how amazing the food was. It is no small fete to prepare food for 150 people without it tasting like "catered food" but it was soooo good. I just wish I could have eaten more!
The service staff is ON POINT. The head catering waiter was right there with me and my husband all evening making sure that we were well taken care of. There he was, ready to make sure there was a drink in our hands and food in our mouths during and in-between photos, and all during the reception. It was really 5 star all the way.
In summary, the only negative thing about the experience was just the few issues we had with our room block, and had NOTHING to do with the wedding itself. Everything else was absolutely perfect. We are getting raves about the whole event! It's really true what they say, I wouldn't have changed a single thing. The Driskill is truly a one-of-a-kind hotel. We felt like royalty. :)
For relatives coming in from out of town, you can't beat the Driskill for its Austin experience. They're not just pet friendly, they go out of their way to be pet welcoming. Seriously worth every penny. Old fashioned service, classic decor, and modern amenities.
We got married at the Driskill in the Crystal Room and had our reception in the Victorian Room. It was everything I could have hoped for and more. I cannot say enough good things about the Driskill's wedding coordinator Amanda Tofflemire. She was so helpful, kind and caring and talk about a wealth of knowledge when it comes to Driskill weddings. She really eased my worries when planning everything. She had another wedding on the same day of our wedding and you wouldn't have even known it. She was checking on us and making sure everything was running smoothly all evening. She even bustled my dress! Amanda covers all of the bases when it comes to a Driskill wedding, she leaves nothing out. She even asked us what we preferred to drink on the day of and we had our drinks delivered to us by our own waiter all night. During the planning process, if I sent Amanda an e-mail asking her a question she would respond within a few minutes, I think the longest it took her to respond was maybe an hour. She truly cares about your feelings and she is so good at what she does. If it wouldn't have been for Amanda, our wedding wouldn't have been such an awesome success! The Driskill was amazing. Everyone I have talked to since the wedding has nothing but good things to say, especially about the food and you just never know about wedding food, but everyone raved that the food was amazing. Our cakes were amazing as well, beyond my expectation. We did a UT Longhorn cake for the groom's cake and it was completely awesome! My cake was beautiful and elegant. The Driskill is a great wedding venue. They do it all. From the food to the cakes to decorating. They also have good packages on alcohol. Couldn't have asked for a more amazingly perfect venue!
The venue has so much of its own beauty, that not a lot of detail needs to be added. The food was absolutely amazing. All the quests are still talking about how good the meal was :-)
You couldn't ask for better service on such an important day! The servers were extremely friendly and pleasant.
Scott and The Driskill Hotel were so instrumental in making our wedding day absolutely perfect. Down to the last detail, they were constantly attending to the guests, refilling our champagne glasses and making sure the other vendors had received dinner. One thing that really stood out- I forgot to plan a separate food menu for the children, but the staff asked the families with kids what they wanted to eat and quickly whipped up some chicken fingers for each and every child there. I was so impressed with their dedication and effort.
Pick this venue and work with Scott, it will be the best decision you make!
AMAZING! A beautiful place to get married and have a reception and the service was fantastic!
We had an intimate ceremony at the Driskill. My husband is originally from Austin, which contributed to the choice of the venue. The hotel is gorgeous, with breathtaking architecture from the 1800's, centrally localized in the middle of all the 6th st fun, but with the warm welcome of a bed and breakfast. Amanda, the event planning coordinator went above and beyond the call of duty to make our day perfect. Delicious food, beautiful cake, and overall awesome experience.
Our wedding at the Driskill was beautiful, as I'm sure all weddings there are. But Amanda was probably the best thing I can talk about from the hotel. The best thing is that she will respond to your emails right away, unlike most coordinators. She really makes you feel like you are her first priority. I am not from Austin, so I asked for her advice sometimes on vendors and she was extremely helpful.
The Driskill is a phenomenal wedding venue location. The Events Manager, Amanda Barone, and the rest of the staff bent over backwards to accommodate any request and was so helpful with everything. The venue itself is beautiful so any decoration was just for a personal touch not because it needed it. The food was delicious! I HIGHLY recommend The Driskill!!!
So happy we chose the Driskill after the wedding. The complimentary champagne and strawberries were just icing on the cake. The service was so nice. We felt like bride and groom our whole stay.
Everything and everyone in this hotel is absolutely amazing. Scott our wedding coordinator did his best to make sure that my husband and I would not have to worry about anything. There could have been a couple of items that could have been tweaked, but other than that our experience there was simply wonderful.
My husband and I were supposed to spend our wedding night in the suite at the Driskill. They gave us the wrong room (which even had a flower in it saying "happy birthday"), and were horrible to work with. The prices are WAY too high for what you get... even if you do get what you paid for. We made the reservation MONTHS in advance and even had to pre-pay.
DO NOT spend your money at this hotel.
Loved: 1) our Driskill planner/contact Emily Taylor. She anticipated and catered to our every need and went the extra mile every day leading up to the event as well as the night of. 2) the food. Amazing presentation and service and what got delivered was delicious. Bride was a vegetarian and they made a killer meal not just the token here-are-some-veggies option some reception sites offer. 3) the cakes. The execution of the R2D2 groom's cake blew my mind. The bakery absolutely exceeded my wildest dreams; I couldn't be happier with them.;Concerns: 1) the reception hall is T-shaped and if you have more than 100 guests you have to use rooms that open off the main hall to seat them at tables. I felt that it isolated some tables from the dance floor and heart of the action but everyone got up and mingled after the meal anyway so it's nothing that should be a deal-breaker. 2) You can't get into the bridal suite before 4pm. Can be a problem if you want to have that available for you and all your bridesmaids getting dressed/ready.
The Driskill Hotel is the pinnacle of Texas elegance. From the grandeur of the Mezzanine where our reception was held to the smallest details that were meticulously overseen by their extremely competent staff everything about our wedding reception was absolutely perfect.
The ambience of the Driskill mezzanine was perfect for a large wedding. The layout of the space is such that it felt like one cohesive space, but there was the option of different areas of the space and different rooms off of the mezzanine could be given distinct feelings or purposes. We used one side room for a bar, another as a quieter place with the groom's cake, and the large ballroom for all the food. The main interior space was then used for tables and the dance floor. Teh Driskill mezzanine also offers 2 beautiful balconies for guests to enjoy.;I really can't say there was anything that I was displeased with about the Driskill mezzanine.
