The Fairmont is a beautiful venue for any wedding event! Our guests loved the location, especially the outdoor area by the fountain. There is also space outside if you need to organize shuttles. But before you book, there are a few things you should keep in mind. If you need vegetarian food, their in house catering menu is very limited. They wouldn’t offer a tasting either, even when we said we would pay for it, so we wanted to use an external caterer. They have a huge fee for external food and charge extra unless the vendor is on their approved list (only two vendors), even if your vendor has worked there before. It’s their way of trying to force you to go with their in house catering (they even told me this). Additionally, even if you have a room block for your wedding, you still have to pay for wifi & the gym.
Very disappointed in the service we received while trying to book this venue. My fiance and I have stayed here every year for our anniversary and felt this would be the perfect place for us to get married. Our initial inquiry was in October of 2021 and we did not get anything set up until February 2022. Our appt was rescheduled twice and after emailing the director of catering we were finally referred to the sales catering manager. On the day of our appt we told the front desk we had a site tour and no one knew what we were talking about. We reiterated that we had exchanged emails with their catering sales manager and she confirmed us for a tour with a front desk agent at 2PM. The front desk then offered to have a security guard show us 1 ballroom. This was very frustrating as we had told the catering sales manager we were driving 2 hours for the tour. We declined and left. The entire 4 month process of trying to get a tour and speaking with their sales catering manager soured any desire to wed at this venue. This was contrasted by the wedding specialists at two other hotel venues (Westin St. Francis & Mark Hopkins) who were able to set up tours within 2 weeks and provided exceptional customer service.
On our 3rd wedding date, we decided to downsize our wedding from 200 to 14 people and move to the Penthouse Suite at the Fairmont SF! We moved venues 3 months before our wedding and Emilie Lynch was just a gem in getting us all situated!! Our wedding planner, CMG Events, coordinated with Emilie perfectly and was able to get everything set up. The Penthouse has amazing views & so much history - it really brought our SF wedding to life!! Emilie helped coordinate so many things for us too - Bridal Suite (we used the Cambridge Suite), extra cots for our siblings to sleep on in the Penthouse, Grooms Suite (we used Golden Gate suite), and additional hotel rooms for our guests. She also helped me get a special surprise to our wedding planner & called my room to check in on me. LOVED having our wedding at the Fairmont!!
The Fairmont hotel was a perfect venue for our wedding. We had the Pavilion Room and Rooftop Garden for our ceremony, then Crown Room for reception - it was all absolutely beautiful! We didn't do anything for decor except for flowers and the space was still lovely - our guests were thrilled with the views. Jenni Rowe was our catering manager who did an amazing job handling the intense personalities in my family and kept our event perfectly on schedule! Best of all is this hotel provides it all! We had a welcome dinner in the Tonga room, a brunch in Laurel Court the morning after, and our guests loved staying in the hotel. It was all really wonderful and full of super helpful staff so you feel taken care of every step of the way. Maybe a bit pricy, but it was all amazing and worth it to have such a lovely space to fully enjoy our weekend with family and friends. Thank you Fairmont! :)
Getting married at the Fairmont was an absolute dream. My original contact, Kendra, was truly one of the main reasons I decided to splurge and sign the contract. She was so friendly and extremely responsive. Kendra left the staff right before my wedding, but my new contact, Katie, was still great to work with too.
The venue speaks for itself. It's historic, pristine, glamorous and anything that I could want in a venue. They are of course on the pricey side. After all was said and done, my charges at the Fairmont came out to almost $300 per person. I don't think the space I was in (Fountain Room) merited that kind of money.
I did get everything I asked for. The service was superb from check in to check out. The one thing that wasn't so great was that my wedding was on a day that there were 2 other weddings. Mine was the smallest so my main contact spent most of her time at the other weddings and I had a different contact on the actual day of the wedding (who I never spoke to before). It was a little stressful explaining the processional music 5 minutes before the ceremony, but in the end, he was attentive and easy to work with too. He kept us on schedule and everything was great.
The food was soooo delicious! We had seared beef tenderloin, chicken saltimbocca, pan seared striped bass and truffled risotto. They used an outside vendor for the cake, who I'm a little iffy on (see separate review), but everything overall was great.
The other little thing was my cake topper was broken when it was returned to me, but minuscule in the grand scheme of things.
As a young girl I dreamt of having my wedding at the Fairmont Hotel in SF. When I got engaged I told my folks that the Fairmont was the only thing I didn't want to compromise in our budget. I was willing to cut the list and forego our honeymoon if I needed, but I was for sure getting married at the SF Fairmont. Working with the staff was easy and the catering manager was crazy great. The food was incredible and the place looked unreal once they had it decorated. When I walked in the doors on my wedding day with the man I loved beside me, my wonderful family waiting to greet us, and being in the ballroom of the great San Francisco Fairmont, I knew all my dreams had come true. Thanks to everyone at the Fairmont for working with us and finding ways to help make it all possible.
Everything was perfectly managed and coordinated ....all we had to do was enjoy the day. Our guests felt so special.
My sister, the MOH, took all of us girls into the city for the day. She wouldn't tell me a thing that was going on. We had lunch at Pier 39 and walked around until dinner, where we got in the car and drove to the Fairmont Hotel... absolutely GORGEOUS hotel. We made our way to The Tonga Room, an awesome restaurant in the hotel... it's as if you're on a ship. There are nets and sails and rudders around, and in the middle of the room is a pool. Every 30 minutes or so there is a simulated thunder and lightning storm. Lights flash, thunder sounds, and it rains. So cool. One of my girls, who's blind, was fascinated because she could tell when the lights flashed. The food was delicious! The service was a little so-so, but overall everything was divine and perfect!
I can honestly say I never imagined I'd be getting married at The Fairmont. We had the Crown Room on the most amazingly hot day San Francisco has ever had in April; the skies were clear, the views were breathtaking! Emilie was such a wonderful person to work with; especially when I started to freak out about the little things. She's competent, professional, and sweet...our wedding was amazing because of her. Both she and The Fairmont are highly recommended.
The Fairmont SF is a beautiful hotel with a very professional staff. The coordinators were organized and efficient and the staff helped out quickly when our outdoor wedding got rained on. They were able to move chairs, equipment, etc in less than 15 minutes!
I had my reception at the Fairmont and I was very disappointed. I'm not sure what's going on, but they need some improvement. We felt rushed with the service and the wait staff wasn't smiling much. A little more up to date decor wouldn't hurt either. We made it a great day but looking back, I wish we had chosen a different venue.
There is not one bad thing to say about The Fairmont. They were so easy to work with during the entire planning process. Our catering manager, Jamie Fields, was amazing. She was patient, answered all of our questions quickly and thoroughly, and accommodated all of our requests to create a beautiful wedding within our budget. There was another wedding going on at The Fairmont with almost the exact same schedule and the Fairmont staff made sure all of our guests knew exactly where to go, what buses to get on, and that there were no questions as to what rooms our guests should go to. The Crown room at the top of the tower in the Fairmont has an amazing view of the city with 280 degrees of floor to ceiling windows providing a beautiful backdrop for our reception. We had dedicated staff on-site that set up our room, took our guests from the cocktail hour up to the reception room, and escorted our entire bridal party when it was time to enter the reception. They had a “captain” that brought out appetizers and champagne to the bridal party after the wedding while we were taking photos in the lobby.
We worked with Erin Swanson to secure favorable room rates for our guests. She was also a joy to work with, always providing updates on what room reservations had been booked and accommodating all requests that came in (i.e. adjoining rooms, family members being in close proximity/on the same floor, etc).
The two bathroom suite we had as the bridal suite was perfect. It also has a room that adjoins, which I had one of my bridesmaids stay in. We ended up with a two bedroom, three bathroom suite with a huge living room that provided plenty of space for me and my bridal party to have our hair done, makeup done and to just hang out while getting ready.
I could not be happier with our decision to have our reception at The Fairmont. The hotel is gorgeous, the people are friendly and easy to work with and the rooms were affordable for our guests.
the set-up, colors, view, space, ambiance;everything was perfect there
We loved that the room we had had a 270 degree view of San Francisco and that the hotel is classic.
I loved the view from the crown room. You could see 300 degrees and the view included the Golden Gate Bridge, Coit Tower, the Trans America Building, and the SF Bay. Also, the hotel has a woderful luxurious feel that gave the reception an elegant feel.;The costs added up quickly and it's a popular location so you have to plan way in advance or be flexable about your date.
Elegant location and perfect for a small wedding - we had our reception in the historic penthouse of the Fairmont. We highly recommend it.;The 2 small issues we had is that a couple of teenage girls wandered into our reception and our cake was slightly leaning(but tasted fantastic).
