He made the process very easy, was very communicative and clear about pricing and what the venue would provide, and was accommodating to all of our needs (opening the venue early for hair & makeup, providing a few vegan meals, etc). The venue itself was amazing and so beautiful. We didn’t need to do much to make the space look great, just a few decorations here and there. We used the catering service through the venue and got so many compliments on the food. Our guests told us that we had the best wedding food out of any wedding they’d ever gone to. Doug was also there for us throughout the day when we hit bumps in the road and immediately solved them. Overall, we had an excellent experience at the Fields of Blackberry Cove and highly recommend this venue.

There is also a place for you to get ready on site which makes everything so easy. I used their in-house catering company and chose to do the buffet and it worked out perfectly. I also used their in house florist and day of planner who made sure everything went smoothly on the day of. Freda's flowers were so beautiful and exactly what I envisioned. Everyone who came to the wedding said it was the most beautiful and fun time they had ever had at a wedding and I agree!! If you are looking for a wedding that has a great view with barn/rustic vibes then HAVE YOUR WEDDING HERE!! Also, if you are looking for a DJ in western NC DJ Lev did an fantastic job as well and kept us dancing all night.

ran wedding I (and along with my guests reviews) have ever been to. Doug had mentioned that he’s been in this field of work for around 15 or 20 years or so, and it definitely shows! Doug was extremely easy to work with and made almost all of our requests come true unless there was something major that would’ve caused issues. Because it’s busy wedding season, we did have to wait a few bit days to hear back from Doug, but that is totally understandable considering he has other weddings to tend to. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, the drive into the venue is stunning and runs along a river. Surrounded by trees and mountains, the venue is a truly magical place. Keep in mind that this is a wild and rustic venue, grounds are not super manicured like you might see at a vineyard or golf course. The barn is a very special place and looks amazing lit up at night. Again, this is an actual used old horse barn, you can see where the horses have chewed down parts of the old stalls. Tons of character! For the ceremony, we used to love and wisdom and found an amazing officiant, Sarah Judy. For food, we use Doug and his Chef and, the food was absolutely wonderful! We did barbecue, smoked chicken, a pasta bar and sides. Truly, this with some of the best wedding food I have ever had. Guests agreed! We loved Doug’s flexibility with being able to bring in your own alcohol and wedding cake. We did have to hire a bartender but that made things run super smoothly. Also did cocktail hour appetizers which were fantastic. Service staff was amazing running behind folks and cleaning up and keeping everything tidy. Things to note: you do end up parking and having to walk into the ceremony space. After that, your guests do have to walk up a small hill to get to the reception space. We reminded all of our guests to wear boots. I think Doug would have transported anyone who needed any help or anyone with disabilities (they have a few golf carts on the property). And again, this is a truly rustic space; this is exactly what we were looking for but I can imagine that some people might be expecting something different (more manicured/up to date, not sure). I truly cannot recommend this anymore. This was the wedding of our dreams and Doug and his team or eager to make all of this happen for us. And icing on the cake- Doug is so funny and kept us laughing the whole time!! Doug, thank you so much, we will remember this day!!! We will miss you! 💜💜💜 -Cameron & Koreen

e venue is stunning, nestled into the mountains with great views and loads of natural beauty. One things that I particularly loved is that everything is gorgeous as is - you can dress the venue up if you'd like but it's perfectly charming already if you're into a "less is more" vibe. Doug was beyond flexible with our ever-changing food menu and let me tell you...the food does NOT disappoint. You really do not need to bother finding outside catering unless you're absolutely set on it. I have friends reaching out to me weeks later asking me to grab some recipes from Doug. The staff was so polite and really on top of their game. I am so grateful to their attentiveness, truly rockstars. There's also plenty of space for both parties to get ready. We were never on top of each other and there was plenty of room for the stylists to do their magic. We even brought our dogs and we had enough space for them to have their own room. All in all the best experience and if you don't get married here then you're missing out on a very special place and people.

Many people told us afterward that it was some of the best food they had ever had (period - let alone at a wedding). The set-up was done fast and beautifully, and Doug took care of all the details to ensure things ran smoothly by staying in contact with me for months before the big day. I can't recommend this venue enough!

all the food (it was AMAZING), does in house decorations and is super affordable!! The guests were blown away at how gorgeous his property was and he was so flexible to our wants and needs! I'd absolutely recommend this venue to any couple getting married or really any venue for a party!

country and what we heard from many was this: the best wedding I've attended. It's starts with the beautiful setting with mountain views all around. The reception was held at the Farmhouse, which includes both indoor and outdoor seating and just gives off a cool vibe. And then there is Doug, the owner. A friendly, chatty guy who has been doing this for years and it shows. You can bring in an outside caterer but you would be foolish. Doug knows what he's doing in the kitchen and our guests were not disappointed. The turkey and prime rib were delicious and two of our guests in particularly, both chefs, said it was the best food they've had at a wedding. We ran out of white wine but Doug had us covered, bringing out several bottles. As a parent you worry about how things will go during a wedding but with Doug, you don't need to. He and his staff know what they are doing and made our event a smashing hit.

We used the venue for our rehearsal dinner as well, which was great. My bridal party had so much fun spending all morning in the lodge getting ready for the wedding. Freda created incredible floral arrangements and brought our dream to reality with all the flowers and decor. Doug's catering was a major highlight and everyone loved the food. Everything Doug makes is delicious and we really enjoyed the process of tasting the food a few months before the wedding. Doug and his staff will make you feel like family and do such a wonderful job ensuring the wedding goes smoothly. This venue really has it all and I couldn't imagine a better wedding day.

g seemed great: Doug seemed super nice, the venue was beautiful, etc. We signed the paperwork and paid our $700 deposit, and were planning to have Doug as our caterer as well. Fast forward to 2 months later, and all of the sudden Doug stops responding to any forms of communication. My fiance and I tried to call, text, and email him for approximately a month and a half before we gave up and had to find another wedding venue and caterer very last-minute. We were planning this wedding from Pennsylvania, which was pretty difficult already. We contacted Doug again, in attempt to get our deposit back since we did not receive the service that we paid for. We reminded him that my fiance is in the active military and I am in graduate school, and we don't have extra $700 to spare. Needless to say, Doug never responded to us and we never received our deposit. Luckily we were able to find a different venue and caterer in time for the wedding, but I would never wish this experience for any bride or groom. So disappointing.

, "it's however you want it." I wanted a record ceremony under 10 mins, and I was done by 7 mins. My rehearsal definitely ran longer than that. I heard good praises from my guests on the food and the catering staff. The bartender hired for the night was nice as well. Communication was an area of opportunity for Doug. There were instances that it took him 2-3 days to respond via WeddingWire, where I had originally found him. There was rain in the forecast on the day of our wedding and I had reached out the weekend before asking how quickly we good get a tent on standby. Lucky for us the rain held off until the end of the night, because he never responded back. I DO NOT recommend their in house florist. I had originally went in with plans on doing my own florals, but Freda, their florist had me sold on her experience doing events at the Omni Grove Inn, and she was willing to work within my budget. My first red flag should have been when I had reached out via email, with pictures of what I wanted my bouquets to look like and my response was just an invoice for them. Not assurance that the job could be done to what I had in mind. At our 45 day meeting we squared away some details and I showed her what I wanted my centerpieces to look like. The most basic centerpieces known to man, a wooden cookie with three cylinder vases of floating candles in each one, and strands of greenery across it. The day of the wedding we all walked into the bridal suite and found three bouquets. Two of which were in vases not filled with water at all, and one with a plastic base/handle. I've never seen a bouquet put together that way so I picked it up to examine it only to have a flower fall off. That's when I noticed that all of the flower heads were superglued together, which there went any plans of preserving my bouquet. Because of its size, everyone was confused as to whose bouquets were whose so my maid of honor and mother in law went to take care of the situation. The interaction with Freda was not a pleasant one from what I heard. My mother in law had to keep her cool in order to get Freda to quickly whip up a new bouquet, which she was not willing to do at all. I also found out during the entire interaction she kept referring to me as "that girl" and that I had been rude to her during the entire process. My husband was in the room each meeting we had with her. Some of the flowers in the bouquet also had begun browning and wilting, as if she didn't refrigerate them prior to the event. My centerpieces were nothing like we had agreed upon at our 45 day meeting. There were vases of flowers, and one vase of floating candles at the table, which if I had asked for it it would have been fine, but it wasn't what I envisioned. The next day I couldn't help but wake up feeling as if I had been cheated on my florals. I trusted Freda, with all the experience that she had but should have just went an entirely different route. Pros: location, catering staff, food Cons: communication, in house florist I would have definitely given Doug a higher review if it wasn’t for Freda.

n. Doug was fabulous to work with. He had everything just as I imagined it would be set up for the big day. He made the whole experience very easy and laid back. Freda did my bouquet and it was the most beautiful. Highly recommend!

We had breakfast food for our reception, and Doug’s biscuits and gravy were AMAZING, as well as the fresh omelet station and hot, delicious waffles! All made from scratch and locally sourced. o be it. I had planned on having a wedding in Asheville in a few months but obviously with the pandemic happening and state regulations which prevent large gatherings, we decided to cancel our event. I started reaching out to Doug (the owner of the venue) several months prior well in advance of our wedding date and assumed that he would be very responsive, as he had been in the past. My initial interactions with Doug last year were very pleasant to be honest, so I was completely shocked when I was all of a sudden ghosted. I left multiple voicemails and sent numerous emails, and Doug was completely unhelpful and unresponsive. I ended up having to file a "new event" request with an alternate phone number to get him to call me back, and of course he did call back thinking that it was a new customer. When we spoke to him over the phone about returning our deposit, he said he was going to think it over and give us a call back per his promise within 36 hours. Of course he never called, and we are back to square one. All of my other wedding vendors have been reasonable in working with us during this crazy time with deposits etc, but Doug has been extremely shady in not even wanting to enter into a dialogue about the situation. The wedding industry is filled with options in terms of venue choices, so let me tell you, look elsewhere for a venue. The last thing you want when planning a wedding is to not be able to get in touch with your vendors in a crisis, and Doug has really shown his true colors.

Doug has a absolutely beautiful gem of a venue tucked away in the mountains. We got married Oct 27 th and the leaves were at there peak which was made the venue even better than it already was. he most helpful, delightful, and accommodating people I've met. They anticipated needs and went above and beyond to make sure we had the perfect day. Not to mention, they're hilarious and really make you feel like you've been friends your entire life. The food and service were amazing, tasty, and impeccable. The staff were polite, smiling, and incredibly helpful. The clasp on my dress broke, and as I was waiting for my aunt to find a safety pin, the bartender had already found me one and a server was fastening my dress together before my aunt returned. We would not have changed a single thing about this day. I would recommend this venue and these people to anyone. And I have no doubt that I have will have lasting relationships with these amazing people.

em. Every one of our guests told us how amazing the venue was, but the scenery is only a part of what makes this venue so special. As with any family, mine has a fair amount of baggage. Doug transported-- personally-- my 94 year old grandfather from the parking area, to the ceremony site, to the reception area, to the bathroom (multiple times) and back to the parking area. He did this all while deftly navigating a tumultuous relationship between his children (who don't speak to one another). Even my [incredibly high-strung] mother fell in love with Doug's accommodation, humility, and incredibly gentle/kindhearted nature. While I was getting dressed, I realized I hadn't polished a family bracelet I intended to wear. Without hesitation (and before I could get upset with myself for forgetting), Doug took the bracelet and polished it beyond expectation within an hour. Doug & Ken also seamlessly integrated with all the vendors; from the caterer to the dessert bakery, from the wedding planner to the DJ, from the photographers to the guests' transportation shuttle, Doug & Ken made it so no one could detect each service was provided by a disparate vendor. He swiftly dealt with a waitress having "an issue" before I, my husband, or any of the guests knew of it (I didn't find out until much later after it had been resolved!). Doug & Ken also showcased the grounds for the bridesmaids and groomsmen such that they could access (and find) the premium photo spots. He escorted the photographers around the beautiful grounds as well to ensure they were familiar with the various lighting and scenery so my husband and I could capitalize on the area's natural beauty while finding the best spots for our first photos as newlyweds. Without a doubt, Doug & Ken are amongst the most genuine people with whom I have ever had the pleasure (and honor) to work. We have already recommended them to several family & friends! Our wedding was amazing; wholeheartedly I can attribute its success to Doug & Ken and the Fields of Blackberry Cove.

so perfect. Freda doubled as our florist and day of coordinator and helped everything run smoothly and look beautiful with rustic and natural flowers. My bouquet was better than I had even imagined and the floral decorations on our arbor were breath taking. Doug and his staff prepared a delicious feast of salmon, skirt steak and seasonal sides including a to die for butternut squash soup. Doug makes the best homemade bread I have ever had in my life and he always had some for us every time we came out to visit the venue over the course of our planning. The staff were so professional and kind, I felt welcomed by every single one of them. If you're considering this venue just book it! You won't be disappointed, these folks and the space they have is exactly the type of good energy you need around you on your special day!

On top of the venue itself being the perfect place to say ”I do”, the owner Doug and his team were phenomenal!!! reda worked tirelessly for us from day one. I was starting a new job, moving and getting married in a very short time, so they dealt with me and my Mom a LOT. They were happy to set up phone calls with her and answer any and all of our questions. They took out the stress of setting up our DJ, photographer and florist, all of whom were PERFECT for us. Doug also catered for us and the food was absolutely delicious. The day of, we were blessed with a somewhat rainy day. I was determine to have the outdoor mountain wedding of our dreams. I really could not say enough great stuff about him to be honest. And, of course, their catering team lead by him were superb. We wrote a menu and they made their version of it, everyone was asking who catered! My wedding was a massive success in part because of Doug, 11/10 would recommend!

I had a complete diy wedding and my planner wasn't super helpful but thankfully Doug stepped in and made things happen (I would def. recommend using their planning services verses an outside company just bc they were so helpful with everything I can only imagine how much more stress-free it would have been with having them plan and organize). I can't thank them enough- my day was simply unforgettable and just perfect.

Plus, the barn/reception area can fit any needs. It is flexible in terms of style yet consistently retains an aura of rustic, which really lends itself well to photography. With the way lighting is set up, photos come out beautiful. Moreover, Doug and his staff are top-notch. They were exceedingly helpful and are very kind people. From day one, they answered every question we had, gave us recommendations for other vendors to use and really guided us through the wedding planning process. They helped us with table organization, floral arrangements, paperwork required, etc - it’s a long list of items. Freda is the “day of coordinator” and mother of the venue-owner. We HIGHLY recommend hiring Freda Baker. She is organized, she knows the wedding game and she knows how to make a couple happy! She was an angel to work with and truly helped made our day stress free! We also catered through Fields (Doug) and the food was splendid. The quality was superb for every single item we purchased. One quote I received from a friend was “I knew you said it was good, but I didn’t realize it’d be that good.” The service from Doug was exceptional as well. In fact, one of our items had an ingredient discontinued by his supplier so he made it himself! We were floored and really grateful. He is a true foodie and his twists on classic wedding dishes were perfect! If you're looking for a venue, look no further! This is the perfect wedding venue!
