BE AWARE! If there were zero stars, that’s what I would give her. I was a venue manager for a couple years and had her decorate an event 4 years ago and thought it was amazing. But, that was not the case for me and a couple other brides on their special day. She seemed great and all organized and I was so excited for my wedding. The day came and she was 3 hours late. My ceremony space was not set up in time and I got my bouquet RIGHT BEFORE I walked down the aisle. My bouquet was half dead. The girls bouquets were so wilted that photos didn’t turn out well. She forgot half the corsages and the guys flowers. When we arrived at the reception space, we were looking forward to seeing beautiful eucalyptus with our lanterns and dahlias... well that’s. Or what we got. We got $5 garden mums bought from Meijer... yes Meijer they had the tags on it and everything! We went ahead and sued her after she didn’t return our emails or texts (our planners emails and texts) and found out she has MULTIPLE PEOPLE SUING HER! DO NOT USE TONYA! You will end up disappointed. I’m also pretty sure she sold all of her decor because she filed for bankruptcy. Her shop is not where it says it is on this map. I can’t even go back and look at my wedding photos that have flowers because they look so bad. Originally I had just wanted her to do my reception space because then I could control a little bit of the decor, but she was the one that convinced me to let her decorate the ceremony space as well because she had such a beautiful plan for it... $3500 dollars down the drain. Be careful who you use and always see if they have any type of charge being held to their name.
Tonya did a wonderful job on our flowers. She went above and beyond for our reception flowers. She is very personable and you can tell she has a passion for her job.
Unfortunately we did not have a great experience with Tonya. When I first met her and contacted her with an emergency (I had fired my previous florist with two months to go because the former one had blown through my budget) she quickly said that she would 100% be able to give me the flowers of my dreams. This was 100% not the case on the day of. At our first meeting, Tonya assured me that she saw my vision, loved my vision, and could deliver exactly what I wanted within the budget I had given her. I walked away feeling like I was on cloud nine. She seemed like an angel who was always keeping me in the loop and who understood the soft, romantic garden that I was going for. When the day came my bouquet was dropped off at the last possible moment, hours later than promised. When we showed up to the ceremony/reception site they were both still being set up an hour before our guests arrived and Tonya, our original florist, was no where to be found. She never told us that she would not be there and instead sent people that we had never met to set things up. We were promised a beautiful arrangement for our wedding arch that never happened. A groomsman and my wedding coordinator thankfully threw together something that worked and looked beautiful but it was a huge disappointment not to have the previously agreed upon arrangement on our arch. Another disappointment was our bouquets and the boutonnieres. They were nothing like what we had agreed on and all the flowers looked a few days old and like they had been sitting out somewhere. All in all the day was wonderful and thankfully our photographer worked her magic and made everything look incredible but I would never suggest that anyone work with her unless you have a large budget so that she can prioritize you before any other bride she has the same day. However, she has a wonderful personality and seems like a great person.
I first met Tonya at a bridal show and fell in love with her energy, her passion for what she does, and her gorgeous work. Soon after, I got into contact with her to set up a meeting in hopes of getting my wedding flowers done by her.
I made an appointment and arrived to find the shop locked, with no one there. Tonya then texted me saying she would be 45 minutes late so we had to reschedule the appointment. This missing of scheduled phone calls and meetings was a reoccurring theme throughout the planning process.
I ultimately decided to use The French Tulip for my bridal bouquet, bridesmaids bouquets, and four wristlets for moms and grandmas. I sent several photos to Tonya of my vision for our flowers— very light, romantic colors such as white, peach, blush, and greenery. On my proposal, she added “merlot” as a theme color. Several times, we discussed that merlot was not one of my wedding colors and I did not want merlot in my bouquet.
On my wedding day, Tonya was set to deliver flowers to my house at 1 PM. She arrived at 155 PM when we were supposed to be leaving for the wedding at 2 PM. Sure enough, I was delivered bouquets with many, many merlot flowers in them. The bouquets were beautiful, but did not reflect my wedding colors or vision, or what we had discussed previously. The mothers’ and grandmothers’ wristlets were delivered to the venue (which was never discussed) and were dead by the time we got there. In addition, all of our bouquets had wilted by the time we even made it to the ceremony. My bridesmaids and I were all picking out dead flowers before going down the aisle. I didn’t even bring the flowers into the reception because I was so disappointed.
Tonya did apologize and refunded me the money for the corsages, but in the end, I spent about $700 on bouquets that were not what I wanted, and that had wilted within 3 hours of getting them. She was pleasant to work with, even through this mishap, but I wished I had gone with a vendor more reliable and more organized.
Our flowers and centerpieces were GORGEOUS! Tonya did an amazing job with her staff, and she was so much fun to work with! Very understanding and easy going! Would definitely recommend The French Tulip Studio!
