We had our wedding reception at the Georgian Terrace Hotel in June 2024, and it was absolutely perfect! Jenelle was our event coordinator, and she is a BOSS! She made every step as easy as possible and was so accommodating to our vision for the day. I truly felt like she and the Georgian Terrace team cared about making our wedding day special, and the entire GT team executed upon it FLAWLESSLY!! The wait staff was amazing, the food was absolutely delicious, and the Grand Ballroom looked absolutely stunning. I 100% would have my wedding reception at the Georgian Terrace again!!
My daughter's wedding reception, including rehearsal reception and cocktail reception, were held at The Georgian Terrace, and the experience was dreamy! We also stayed at the hotel on Friday and Saturday evenings. From months of pre-planning with the hotel team up through our departure on the Sunday morning after our daughter's wedding, the experience was a pleasure. Violet was our initial contact, and she made us feel at home at our first visit. She connected us with Jenelle, who seamlessly took over and made our entire experience amazing, along with Donelle and others on the team. Our daughter truly had a dream wedding, and we all wish we could do it over again! The suite we had was so nice and comfortable we could have stayed there for a week or more! The staff was accommodating, friendly and customer-service oriented during our entire stay. We are grateful to Janelle and the team for making our daughter's wedding so wonderful.
I had my wedding at The Georgian Terrace hotel and had a mixed experience (though it was still a fabulous day!)
Pros:
- Beautiful, beautiful venue - the grand ballroom transforms into an awesome event space for both the ceremony and reception and there are a ton of great options for photos
- Food was delicious
- Awesome location in ATL
- Vendors have usually worked at TGT so things ran smoothly
- The cake vendor who comes with TGT wedding package makes a damn good cake
- Our reception at Edgar's Proof and Provision was awesome and folks really enjoyed it
Cons:
- Staff seemed overworked and there were multiple communication gaps, causing concern and confusion between myself, our wedding planner, and our main point of contact at TGT
- After months of reviewing and confirming our wedding party's room block and being assured everything was sorted, there were MULTIPLE issues at check in - telling our guests they didn't have a room or had to pay out of pocket for their rooms that we had already agreed to cover (including telling my husband's grandma from El Salvador that she didn't have a room and they were completely booked and she couldn't stay at the hotel...)
- The bartenders during the reception yelled at my husband for asking for tequila shots for himself and his family and told him to "get back in line" and refused to serve him
My wedding was absolutely the best day of my life, and the Georgian Terrace was the perfect place to have it! We loved everything about the space. It’s gorgeous, so convenient, the rooms are amazing, and we were able to have our cocktail hour, reception, and after party in 3 different spaces all at the hotel. My only complaint is that they don’t treat their wedding coordinators well enough. Our coordinator was way overworked which made my life and my wedding planner’s life a little more stressful than it needed to be. Overall though I would do it again 100x over. It was amazing.
The Georgian Terrace is absolutely stunning in every way. The beautiful marble staircases and ballrooms are to die for, and make for amazing pictures. The space is so gorgeous by itself, that there is really very little you need to do in the way of decor or flowers. The convenience of a hotel as a venue was so nice for our guests, and made life easy for us as they handled the catering, cake, etc. We absolutely loved working with Christopher, who was on top of it and super responsive throughout the process! Would highly recommend to anyone looking to book their dream wedding day here!
Absolutely beautiful hotel. We didn’t have to spend a ton on decor because the ballroom is already so pretty. Was told it was some of the best food people have had at weddings. The bridal suite is amazing. They did charge us a $4,000 charge for no reason, which I’m glad I caught! And they were very strict on no confetti or outside food for late night snacks. Other than that it was perfect!
Epic!
I had my wedding almost a month ago at the Fox Theater in Atlanta and the Georgian Terrace directly across the street seemed like the natural choice for both my rehearsal dinner and where myself and guests would stay for the weekend. In the beginning of my wedding planning I had a great experience with my wedding contact there, Hannah, but the hotel changed management and since then went downhill as far as guest services. The hotel was also undergoing renovations as well.
Here is why I gave 2 stars: First, the venue is absolutely gorgeous and it was convenient, however,
I had several issues leading up to and during the wedding weekend.
The first issue was that for my block of rooms, my family would call and ask for my block (almost a year in advance) and they would say there were no more rooms available when there were. The price of the same type of room was cheaper to purchase outside of my block, and even cheaper with AAA and military discounts so my guests would tell me they went outside my block and even had one tell me that the front desk person offered a cheaper room.
Second issue was that we wanted to pre pay and reserve parking for the night of the event for our guests and when we got the parking vouchers to hand out, there was only a handful of people who could use them because they were turned away from the parking deck saying it was full. One of my guests turned around and went home because there was no where to park.
Thirdly, the Penthouse suite we requested was given to an in-house bride 4 days prior to the event. We still got a penthouse suite but it was smaller and not the one I requested over a year ago.
All the welcome bags were not brought to the rooms and when I called the front desk to ask where they were, the girl said she just got on the shift and didnt know anything after I had given a list of what needed to go where. I ended up having to walk down and just getting them myself and hand out to my family (on my wedding day).
My wedding contact person was out of town that weekend and I found that out the night of my rehearsal dinner. The rehearsal dinner itself was great food and service so I will give them that.
My guests had several complaints about their rooms. One room my bridesmaid and her family were taken to was literally still in the middle of construction, one had no towels and took an hour to get them, another opened up the pull out bed and it was dirty and when she got new sheets they had holes in them. My groom's room had a dirty hand print on the window. The day of my wedding I called room service (from the penthouse) in the morning to get a fruit tray and some bagels and muffins for my bridesmaids and myself and was told it would be 6 people behind and I should have told them ahead of time because they are preparing brunch. I am like isn't that the point of room service?
All in all I was very disappointed with the experience and hope that they can be more customer oriented and get their stuff together with this new management. The hotel is beautiful and some staff are really great but the service needs to improve. I did try to write to who I thought was the general manager about my complaints but the email bounced back. I will definitely be reaching out to them. It was very disappointing to have my guests have a bad experience since they flew in from out of town and I had said such great things about it. For other brides, it is a beautiful place and I hope it gets better soon.
The hotel is beautiful, no question. Such history, great spots for pictures and a beautiful location. My wedding was elegant and classic and the hotel was exactly the right style for it. The food from the Livingston was surprisingly delicious (hotel restaurants aren't usually that great) and the set- up of the ballroom was beautiful. Working with the coordinators however, was not always such a pleasant experience. At times they were rude and inflexible. At times it felt like I was bothering them, with my request for meetings or my emails. Probably the worst thing about having my wedding reception here was the amount of events going on the same day. I was told there would be 2 weddings in the hotel that day (mine and someone else's). I was surprised to find that 6 different events (all weddings-- receptions, ceremonies or other pieces of the event) were going on. It was difficult to find spots to take pictures, and as brides can be super obnoxious about it being "their day" my photographers and I encountered very rude people throughout when we were trying to take our own pictures.
The Georgian Terrace is a hotel that hosts events and its purpose is to make money- I get that. But they could have given me a heads up about the insane amount of people that would be in the hotel- not to mention that there were going to be lots of weddings. This aspect really tainted my experience with the hotel. While I would recommend the hotel as a beautiful venue, I would caution future brides/grooms on this as their location-- it got to be very impersonal and the whole process made me feel like I was just another business transaction, there to make them money.
We recently were married at the Georgian Terrace and we could not be happier with the facilities. The hotel is located right in the heart of mid town and extremely convenient for anyone traveling. Additionally, it is a beautiful historic site providing the perfect elegant venue for a wedding.
The food and drinks were top notch and the ballrooms beautiful. The perfect blend of elegance and sophistication made this special evening stellar. The service was excellent both the night of the wedding as well as throughout the planning process. We were assisted by Walter Nemeth who ensured that every step of the process from the initial tour to the final checkout went smoothly. We honestly felt attended to and cared for the entire time we were working with the hotel.
We could not recommend this venue more highly. The location is perfect, the hotel itself is a beautiful historic venue, and the quality and service were exceptional.
Upon my first visit I feel in love with the historic charm and southern elegance of the Georgian Terrace and knew my wedding reception needed to be held there. Hannah was wonderful to work with and made sure that no detail was left out so that our day went off without a hitch. I highly recommend this venue and staff as they were wonderful to work with.
I only had my reception at the Georgian Terrence this fall. This is a beautiful venue and had the visual aspect that I wanted for my wedding. While the wedding went off well there were a couple of snags along the way. First, I had to send at least two emails to the catering coordinator before I would get a response. We also had issues with our guest group room rates; basically they quoted us one price when we were looking and then tried to increase the rate after they locked us in the contract. We almost canceled our contract with them over this issue. Another minor issue was that the appetizer hour translated into only about 20 minutes of passed apps. We had guests complain that they didn't get any food during the cocktail hour. During dinner, my mother and I noticed that the servers ( we had a plated dinner) were not up to par. My server would take my drink before I was even half way done and the server that waited on my parents table forgot drink orders and wanted to serve dessert before clearing dinner plates. Although none if the things I noted are too major with the exception of the room rates, this venue does have room for improvement.
I had a small wedding, less than 70 People and I wanted to be married downtown. I went with the Georgian Terrace and I was extremely happy with the venue.
Georgian Terrace is absolutely beautiful - I had my ceremony and reception in the grand ballroom. It was more beautiful than I could have imagined. The food was to die for! Dana Kicklighter is amazing to work with and so helpful with everything. Its in a great location for guests to walk everywhere and you don't need out of town guests to rent a car since they can take Marta from the airport. If I had to get married again in 40 years to my wonderful husband, I would pick Georgian tErrace again...it was amazing.
I used the Georgian Terrace for my September 2012 wedding. I used the Piedmont Ballroom for our ceremony, the Piedmont Foyer for the cocktail hour, and the Grand Ballroom for the reception- and let me just say that it was the perfect venue! The space is so beautiful in and of itself, that we had to do little in the means of decor. Hannah Bradley was my point of contact for planning the wedding and she was so amazing! She was very helpful and always quick to respond to my emails and phone calls. I also rented the bridal suite for myself and my bridesmaids to have hair and makeup done in before the wedding and it was such a good idea because we didn't have to worry about transportation on the day of and it made for beautiful getting ready photos. The Georgian Terrace is a true one-stop-shop when it comes to wedding planning. Catering, Alcohol, Linens, Chairs, etc. are all included which made planning for me SO much easier. I would highly recommend this as a venue!!!
This was a wonderful place to say. The only downfall at this hotel is that they don't have adequate shades/curtains on the windows so you get woke up with the sun!!!
However, when we arrived, we got a free upgrade, and that was nice!
I had my wedding at the georgian terrace hotel on april 14, 2012. It was a dreamy event and Hannah did such an excellent job covering all the bases. She eased my anxiety by meeting with us and going over every little detail of the whole wedding. She literally went through a minute by minute schedule to plan the perfect wedding. I didn't have a wedding coordinator, but Hannah made me feel like I didn't even need one with her help. The venue was absolutely gorgeous and the staff was so friendly and accommodating. I had multiple people tell me how they made friends with their waiter. We held the ceremony and reception in the grand ballroom and everything looked exactly how I had imagined. It was great to have a venue that really took care of everything. The food was delicious and the hors d'oeuvres were out of this world. The grilled cheese with the tomato soup was the best!! We also had a late night snack of sliders and fries and also breakfast sandwiches to-go. They were sooo good. Also, the bridal suite was so awesome. You have a choice of a few, but I had penthouse 6 to accommodate my large bridal party. It was outrageous and I felt like a celebrity. Oprah was actually staying in one of the other penthouses on the hall the same weekend! Overall, it was a absolutely stunning venue for a magical fairytale wedding if you want to feel like a princess and get "oohs" and "ahhs" from everyone there.
Beautiful venue and great event. Had MANY compliments on the food, and the bar was a great value.
The Georgian Terrace was fantastic and they catered to my every need. The coordinators were always on top of every thing I needed and made sure to get it done in a timely mannor. I highly suggest The Georgian Terrace for weddings.
I loved the grand ballroom. All of my guests were very impressed.
There couldn't have been a more perfect place for our wedding! I felt like a princess all weekend. The staff was incredibly helpful and everything went perfectly. The food was just as good the night of the wedding that it was at the tasting! Just perfect!
