After researching hotels in the area, I selected The Gin Hotel in Lexington, VA for us, and our out of town guests to stay for our son’s wedding weekend. We were also hosting the Rehearsal Dinner.
It’s location was perfect (wedding was at The Farm at Glen Haven in Clifton Forge) Lexington is a quaint little town with nice shops and good restaurants. Our guests commented on how they love the town, the shopping and the food at several restaurants.
The Gin Hotel’s GM Joe Mannino met us in person when we traveled to select a venue. He showed us the Ballroom in the Hotel, and the menu for our event. He was very helpful and accommodating of all of our requests, and generally everything that we needed was already there. Joe was extremely responsive during the planning and even more so the weekend of the wedding. He was always available. That gave me so much confidence in hosting. We chose pomegranate glazed chicken and grilled salmon with pineapple salsa as our entrees for the Rehearsal Dinner. Both were delicious! Our guests commented many times on how great the food was. We served buffet style with 3 servers that were so friendly and did a great job serving 65 people.
Joe was so kind and allowed us use the ballroom after the rehearsal dinner Friday night, and after the wedding Sat night for us and our guests to enjoy rather than cramming 25 of us in one of our rooms.
The front desk staff were very friendly and really good at their jobs. With 20 blocked rooms for our guests I am only aware of 1 billing issue. The rooms are small, but nice, and I loved all the built in places for storage of things.
Overall the weekend could have not been more perfect in every way! The wedding was Nov 7, 2020.
(sunny and 75 degrees. We were outside all day which during the pandemic we were so much less concerned about spreading the virus)
Thank you for everything Joe Mannino, and the staff at The Gin Hotel! We would without hesitation recommend your hotel!!
Everyone we worked with were amazing. They made our wedding reception very easy. Tables were set up perfectly and food was out of this world. Thank you for everything.
We were at the Robert E. Lee as hotel guests, for some wedding guests, as well as our reception. They were wonderfully accommodating and made sure we were happy along the way. The reception was better than I expected; the food was AMAZING and Joseph was very helpful in suggesting additional touches that worked well for our reception. He was even there throughout the reception to make sure everything was running well, which it was. I highly suggest them as a hotel as well as reception site!
We used them for our rehearsal dinner venue. Good set up but many communication issues. Some people didn't receive their entrees, wine and beverages were never poured (despite there being glasses on the tables and us asking them to do so four times), no bread and butter plates or dessert plates so people had to eat with their hands. It was really convenient because we had most guests staying at the hotel but it just felt like there were a lot of details missing.
The hotel space and all staff were amazing; I could not have been more pleased! We stayed in the hotel and used the Rocco for our rehearsal dinner. There were multiple food allergies, as well as gluten free and vegan needs which were all met perfectly and deliciously. Joe was a pleasure to work with, helping with set up and communicating promptly during the wedding planning. Hotel staff was extremely accommodating in providing space for floral set up, refrigeration for medical needs, and some storage for dinner decoration following dinner. I couldn’t ask for more. Everything they said they would do had total follow -through! Top notch!
