We did our hotel block at The Bellevue and thought the entire experience was mediocre. For the cost, we really expected more.
A positive is that the hotel had a classic look that made for beautiful photos and a great location. However, there were more negatives from our experience than we would have liked.
Throughout our planning process we had three different points of contacts. There was clearly never any internal alignment when passing off clients because we had to repeat information and questions on multiple occasions, and often received different information from different people. It made the correspondence unnecessarily difficult.
During the event, the Bride and Groom’s room was the only room that couldn’t check in early despite us requesting it several times. We understand that this is due to availability but it seems like there could be better planning on the staff’s part to make this possible. And despite having a hotel block, our guests were scattered throughout the hotel and we got noise complaints from other guests on the evening of our wedding. Again, this seems like something the hotel could have easily avoided for several parties with better planning. I also requested that we had housekeeping come to our room to spruce it up before our photographers arrived but my request was not cared for until nearly 2 hours after the time I asked for making things more difficult for our photos. And finally, there was only 1 working elevator through the main lobby causing lines and crowds in the space.
After the event, we received an unexpected charge for Porterage Gratuity which we were never told about before or during the event. Our group tipped the bellmen and were never made aware by the bellmen or staff that there would be a charge for this service. This feels like an unjust ploy to get us to pay more than we already have.
I would recommend staying far, far away from The Bellevue as you consider a venue for your wedding.
My family and I began engaging with Bellevue over two months ago and were quoted an initial price for a wedding with outside catering and no alcohol as my fiancé and I are Muslim and wanted to cater Pakistani food. Over the course of these two months, as a result of multiple mistakes made by their team, the price increased *twice* and was nearly double than what we were quoted initially. We passed on venues over the course of two months given Bellevue had confirmed a more competitive rate (in writing), only for them to pull the rug from under us multiple times and state that their initial quotes were a mistake.
If you are planning a non-traditional wedding, especially a South Asian wedding that deviates from a typical American wedding, this team does *not* know how to handle these requests. We are back to square one now as a result of the unprofessionalism of this team and have had venues slip away from our fingertips because of their multiple mistakes.
I highly recommend the Bellevue, not only for how stunning the building is, but also for the amazing staff. I worked directly with Maggie Cummings throughout the planning process and she made sure everything went smoothly and helped answer my millions of questions along the way. She was very helpful, responsive, and made the wedding planning process as easy as it can be. The day of the wedding I had both Maggie and David by my side and they were amazing. They calmed my nerves and handled any tasks that came up. Thanks to the Bellevue team, my wedding was perfect!
There are not enough words to effectively articulate how please we were with The Bellevue team. We booked our date with them back in December of 2020. From our initial email conversations, to planning and coordinating details, to the tasting, and the actual wedding weekend/day of - this team made sure every detail was perfect, and coordinated everything so seamlessly. We initially worked with Kelsey, then got to know Pam, and, finally, Sade joined our planning team. All 3 ladies were amazing, responsive, and professional. They made sure our questions were answered, and our voices were heard. They went above and beyond throughout this entire process. When looking for venues, The Bellevue stood out to us because of its obvious beauty, but the staff is really what sold us. They were flexible and willing to accommodate us, and made our guests feel so welcomed. We HIGHLY recommend this venue - you will absolutely not regret it!!
Our Bellevue team was the best. Lisa McGraw, our Senior Event Sales Manager, radiated a calm and positive energy throughout the entire process. She was extremely attentive, accomodating, and helped us navigate through all the details in planning our wedding.
David, our Maitre d' was so hands on and everywhere we needed him to be the day of the wedding. To be able to step into such a large event with so many moving parts and know that every single detail was falling into place is a gift that knows no bounds.
These two individuals make up a great team and we were very fortunate to work with them on our daughter's special day.
Hats off to the chef as well for creating such a wonderful meal.
This is the most amazing venue! The staff here especially Lisa McGraw are not only the utmost professionals but they are also genuine kind people. We had to postpone our original date because my fiance Rob was in a accident and to be hopitalized for some time. The way they handled this was amazing and I will forever be grateful to them. They were so gracious and kind to my family and to me and Rob, even sending us flowers when he was in the hospital and constantly checking in on his well being. They made a horrible situation better and I will never be able to thank them enough for this. Lisa want above and beyond to handle every detail for me so all I had to worry about was making sure Rob was better. She called vendors and rescheduled things without even having to ask her to do anything, she is the absolute best at her job and a kind beautiful soul as well. They provided us new dates immediately and rescheduled it all to our new date on February 22nd. The day was absolutely perfect and one of the best days of my life thanks to all of their staff. When you go through something like we did you can only hope that people act the way the people at the Bellevue did, they are all amazing people and I will never be able to thank them enough for being a part of such a special day in my life. Thank you!
My daughter and her then fiancé wanted a small, simple wedding, which is exactly what she got, and more this past week. We held both the ceremony and reception in the hotel's Clivedon Room, and because this particular room has a wall of windows, the sunset served as a backdrop to the couple standing under the chupah.
We brought in a kosher caterer due to our dietary restrictions, and I must say the staff at the Bellevue blended seamlessly with the caterer's.
Ashley Bellevue, event manager, made sure this intimate affair was done elegantly and tastefully as she worked with our outside venders. She truly understood and executed my daughter's vision. Despite the fact we had fewer than 40 guests, she gave attention to detail as if it were on a grand scale.
Communication between the Bellevue and us was prompt and thorough, thanks to Ashley and her assistant Tenekia. My questions and requests were taken care of faster and more complete than expected, both pre-wedding and on the day-of.
Many of our guests stayed at the hotel as well, and were all happy and comfortable. I would not hesitate to recommend the Bellevue in Philadelphia for a romantic, elegant and memorable wedding, whether small and intimate, or large and grand!
There are truly no words to express how much I absolutely adore Ashley Flenard and her entire team!!!! Her and her team are the real gems that made my wedding planning experience shine!!!! I had my wedding in The Pearl Room, which is beautiful in and of itself. I didn’t have a wedding planner and it was as if I had one in Ashley! Every time we met to discuss any plans or ideas she never ceased to amaze me! She handled every request and offered her wonderful expertise whenever I had no clue what to do. She covered every detail, even the ones I hadn’t thought of. She made it easy for me to handle everything without feeling overwhelmed. She handled everything that she said she would and she did it quickly, I trusted her which was a big deal to me. And on my actual wedding day, she was the cool and calm that I needed amidst the controlled chaos that comes with a wedding. She kept me stress free. Her team took care of me above and beyond what I ever expected to receive! They made sure to take care of me and my husband to ensure that we felt extremely special and pampered. The food was sooooo good!! I mean really good!!! Everyone raved about how good the food and the service was. They made sure that they took care of our every request. I had not one worry or care to stress over. They made sure to give us a beautiful bridal suite and made sure we had a wonderful breakfast the next day! I will forever have a special place in my heart for Ashley and her team! And I will always remember the superior standard that the Bellevue upheld to make my wedding unforgettable. I can say with a 1000% certainty that no matter what your event, you will be thrilled with the end results! I’m still gushing over mines!
We used the Bellevue Hotel for hotel blocks for our wedding at the Kimmel Center. While the hotel was very nice, we had some issues with our wedding gift bags that were very disappointing to us and our guests. Many of our guests did not receive gift bags upon check-in. My husband saw the bags behind the front desk, so it was not a situation where the bags were unavailable. It was disappointing that we had to remind the staff to give them to our guests – especially because they had vouchers in them for brunch the morning after our wedding. Several of our guests came to that brunch only because our family members told them about it; otherwise, they would have had no idea about it because they hadn't received their bags.
This may seem like a small thing, but it actually made the morning of our wedding very stressful because these things were not taken care of for us when we were assured that they would be. It was disappointing – and to make matters worse, when we had already spent a lot of money with the Bellevue, my parents were told that they could not be granted a 1-hour extension on check out to help make sure our guests (particularly our older relatives who needed extra assistance) were all set and ready to go. That, combined with the gift bag issue, just left a bad taste in all of our mouths – would not recommend them when there are so many other high quality hotels in this beautiful city.
There isn't enough room to express how thrilled we were with our June 4th wedding at XIX! Our coordinator, Jamie, was FABULOUS! Professional, helpful, responsive, cost conscious, etc. We were overwhelmed with nothing but positive feedback from our guests whose compliments extended from the Bell persons,, to housekeeping, to bartenders, wait staff, and chef. The Hyatt had also just completed a room renovation right before our wedding which really made things perfect. XIX was a gorgeous location for a wedding and the space itself (historic, elegant, just the right amount of opulence) required very little additional decoration which made things super easy and budget friendly. The food was phenomenal and abundant--its always tough finding time to eat as the bride and groom but they made it a point to know our favorites and make sure to bring us plates piled with our favorites. I'm writing this review 7 months later and everyone is still talking about how awesome our wedding reception was and how much they enjoyed the Hyatt. The value we received for the price was superb. One more cool thing about getting married in XIX is that you can go back for dinner and re-live some of that wedding magic just about any time you want! Thank you Jamie and the Hyatt team, we'll see you on our first year anniversary:-)
My husband and I recently had our wedding in the Grand Ballroom at the Bellevue. There are not enough positive words to say about our experience from start to finish –it was superb. Lisa was our event coordinator whom is fantastic, her level of professionalism, thoughtfulness and dedication are unsurpassed. The entire planning process is top notch, making us feel extremely special ie: your tasting is exclusive and held in their wine room with your own personal staff- it was as if you are royalty. The attention to detail continues all the way up to the day of our wedding. Our actual day was dream come true and perfect! The food is amazing and plentiful, the staff is top notch (many of our guests are still raving about the amazing service) and the ballroom looked radiant and not stuffy with almost 300 guests. The day could not have gone any better and we know it is driven by Lisa and her team at the Bellevue. We highly recommend having your wedding at the Bellevue if you want the best you can get!
My husband & I were recently married in July 2015 at the Hyatt at the Bellevue. We could not be happier that we decided to use the Bellevue as our wedding venue. With a lot of out-of-town guests, the Bellevue was extremely accommodating and easy to work with. Lisa was our wedding coordinator, and she was absolutely amazing. I never worried or was stressed once about the venue or the events of the day. She knows what she is doing! She was there in the morning while we were getting ready, saw us off on our trolley and was there to greet us when we returned from Mass. Everything ran smoothly, largely because of her. We had around 340 guests (many from outside of the country) and held our reception in the Grand Ballroom. It was so beautiful, I cried when Lisa brought my husband and I in before cocktail hour for a sneak-peek. It was the definition of classy and elegant, literally everything I ever dreamed of. We have gotten so many compliments on the impeccable staff, food and service. I would HIGHLY recommend the Bellevue!
We held our wedding Columbus Day weekend at the Hyatt at the Bellevue and, in a word, it was "spectacular". We held our ceremony in the Conservatory, our cocktail hour in the XIX bar and our reception in the XIX restaurant. We were a smallish wedding of about 70 people, so these rooms completely fit the bill. And if anyone has ever seen XIX, you will understand how elegant and truly unique a space it is. Everything was flawless - the ambiance, the food and the service beyond expectations. So many of our guests "ooed" and "ahhhed" at the spaces. And, as foodies, we were thrilled that everyone loved the menu selections. We were equally impressed with the delicious food. I have not been to a wedding in a very long time where people (including me) thought the food stood out as excellent. XIX delivered on all cylinders.
As I mentioned, the staff really made the event. Everyone was so courteous, professional and genuinely happy for us on our special day.
Our wedding at the Bellevue exceeded our (very high) expectations and we cannot recommend it enough. Thank you!
Everything was fine and everyone had a room so nothing catastrophic happened. However, when we started planning we met with Lydia who would be taking care of us and my contact for our room block. For a wedding of 200 we blocked 70 rooms and ended up filling 76 including some upgraded suites. Lydia was amazing and showed us all the spots we were able to take pictures and every little detail and perk of having your wedding block there. Also, everything I would enjoy since I was staying there Friday and Saturday night. To make a long story short of course fabulous Lydia got promoted and moved to Florida. (She totally deserved it, she was wonderful.) After that the costumer service went downhill. I don't know if they just became crazy with the impending POPEageddan, but it was a little discouraging. When it came time for the wedding not everyone got a welcome bag, and when we were looking for someone to show us where we can take pictures we were showed to this balcony. Not one of the beautiful spaces that Lydia had originally showed us were made available. I understand these were little things and it's not the end of the world, however I put so much time and effort into this and it was a little upsetting. The one thing I would like to say is that the staff at the Bellevue, the front desk, the bell hops, parking crew, and room services were amazing and friendly.
The grand ballroom at the Bellevue cannot be beat. The chandeliers are Lalique and still gleam. The room is impressive, but the food and service are even better. Every detail is thought of and you are in very good hands. The room is just magical when all lit up. It provided the perfect amount of dancing room for 230 guests. It was a truly amazing reception from start to finish.
I had my wedding at the Hyatt at the Bellevue on June 1st. We picked this location because of the beautiful ballroom, the convenient location and our wonderful manager Lisa McGraw. Lisa truly helped to make our event so wonderful and took the stress of the day out if her hands. She was the most responsive of any vendor we worked with and was always happy to advise on any detail of the wedding. The wedding itself could not have been more perfect. The staff, from hotel check-in to the reception staff, were so warm and just generally happy for us. They went out of their way to accommodate every need of ours. I would highly recommend this hotel!
Hyatt at the Bellevue is a gorgeous hotel. I looked at MANY venues in the area and The Bellevue was by far my favorite, in fact I canceled every other appointment I had after my visit. Everything was perfect. Pamela Bower is so sweet and wonderful. She did everything to make my day special and it truly was. I wouldn't change a thing. The Rose Garden Ballroom was the perfect size and absolutely beautiful. The food was OUTSTANDING... As I heard from many guests it was the best wedding food they had ever had. Creating the menu with Pamela was a lot of fun, the tasting was very elegant in itself.
Perfect day. Highly recommend. Can't wait to celebrate our 1 year at the Bellevue!!!!
The Hyatt at the Bellevue was the perfect place for our wedding. The Grand Ballroom speaks for itself, but the decor is unbelievable.
During our planning process the entire staff was wonderful, from room blocks for our guests to menu changes they were amazing!!! Lisa Mcgraw who was our coordinator was so great to work with, she was so organized and her experience shined through with her impeccable execution of our event.
Upon check in, my now Husband and I had wine and cookies waiting, then after our wedding chocolate covered strawberries and champagne in our bridal suite to celebrate the end of a perfect wedding!
During the wedding, the staff was so attentive to us and made sure that everything went off without a hitch.
The food at the wedding was amazing! Something guests don't typically comment on but ours are still raving about it. From the cocktail reception to the duet entrees everything was perfect.
They are centrally located in downtown philly so it made for a great location for all of guests local and out of towners.
After the reception XIX restaurant/bar was the location for our after party and we closed the place down! The next day we hosted a brunch in XIX restaurant on the top floor, it's a beautiful room with strands of pearls hanging, many of our guests asked if we brought them!
We looked at almost every venue in Philadelphia during our process and I can say that I am so happy we choose the Hyatt at the Bellevue. It was the perfect wedding weekend, one that we will never forget!!!
I have always loved the Belleuve hotel but they really exceeded my expectations when I booked a block of rooms there for our wedding weekend. Tom Peters, the reservations manager was one of the most responsive and helpful vendors I had. He was great to work with and the entire staff of the hotel throughout our wedding weekend were SO helpful! The hotel has recently been renovated so the rooms are all clean and beautiful. I can't wait to stay here again. Thank you!
The Hyatt at the Bellevue was a great venue for our wedding, the food was wonderful, the service very good, and it was very central for our guests. Pamela Bower, our point of contact, was exceptional. She was able to find a great menu that suited all of our tastes, magically found safety pins for my dress when my husband stepped on it during our grand entrance, ran out to buy him a cummerbund when he couldn't find his an hour before he had to leave for the church, and all on her birthday!
Much thanks to XIX and the Hyatt at the Bellevue for making our November 5th, 2011 wedding so memorable. Every step of the way, the staff was helpful, responsive and supportive. We worked with Pam Bower who coordinated our event. She was a complete delight and totally "got" our vision. Also, she was so patient with all my emails and phone calls and handled everything with a smile and a "can-do" attitude. All the staff that we dealt with were so attentive and went out of their way to make sure our wedding was a night of pure and utter enjoyment. Thank you all!
An Old School charming hotel with first class style and service. The evening went off without any glitches, the food was amazing and tasted like it was prepared for everyone individually. Many guests said it was the best wedding they had ever been too. The general manager, catering manager, and sales team are top notch professionals. We were treated like kinds, no detail was missed.
There aren't enough words to express how the staff who worked on my wedding went above and beyond my expectations. Caryll Tighe and the entire catering/banquet staff were there at every step to make sure the day went perfectly..and it did. The professionalism, attention to detail, and patience they had while working with us was amazing. And I can't forget the hotel itself! Where do you begin describing the classic elegance that is the Bellevue? When deciding between all of the great hotels in this city, you can not leave this one out. Just go in, walk around, talk to the staff and have a cocktail at their lounge on the nineteenth floor...you will be convinced there is no other place you would rather be a queen for the day!
There are no words to describe how the entire staff here made our wedding wonderful and magical. We had a beautiful reception in the State Drawing Room, and each and every person enjoyed themselves, loved the food, and felt that they were treated nicely by the staff. Both coordinators (one transferred, but the transition was seamless) were so kind and attentive. THE BEST place for a reception by far. Our wedding was classy, simple and elegant.
