I recently had the pleasure of having my wedding ceremony and reception at Graylyn Estate, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. From the very beginning, the communication with the event planning team was outstanding. They were always prompt and attentive, making the planning process smooth and stress-free.
The grounds are beautifully kept, providing a stunning backdrop that truly enhances the experience. Our guests were in awe of the venue's charm and elegance, remarking on how it felt like a hidden gem in Winston-Salem.
The exceptional team at Graylyn Estate went above and beyond to ensure everything ran seamlessly. Their collaboration with my wedding planner and other vendors was impressive, allowing us to enjoy the day without any worries.
Overall, Graylyn Estate is a remarkable venue that I wholeheartedly recommend for anyone looking to host a memorable event!
My husband and I had the most beautiful fall wedding at Graylyn! It turned out better than we had even hoped.
The beauty of the surroundings was a source of constant comment and exhilaration from our guests. Small details that we were initially somewhat concerned about in terms of the flow of our schedule worked out beautifully. The different rooms and outdoor spaces created a sense of anticipation, wonder, and surprise at each stage of the wedding celebration.
The Graylyn staff was attentive, warm, and professional. We were so impressed by them. Cindy and Chandler in particular were extremely accommodating and helpful in bringing our vision to light, and worked closely with us to plan everything throughout the course of a year.
The food was delicious and the bartenders were great. The getting-ready rooms for the bridesmaids and groomsmen were perfect spaces. Finally, many of our guests stayed at Graylyn which was really fun and special, as people had traveled from all over. Our guests loved exploring Winston. We would do it all over again in a heartbeat!
Working with Graylyn for our October 2023 wedding as absolutely incredible. Every wish was accommodated, responsiveness from Graylyn coordinators was always timely and helpful, especially when working with Cindy. I cannot express enough how wonderful my wedding experience at Graylyn was. Graylyn was a stretch for our budget and not only would I pay for it over and over again, but the staff understanding of our budgetary limits truly made the experience so comfortable. The venue itself is irreplaceably beautiful, the food was INCREDIBLE we got so many compliments on this), and bartenders and waitstaff were so friendly. Graylyn provides an unforgettable experience. I cannot stress enough how magical our day was and I am so thankful we picked Graylyn.
Any questions?
We had a rehearsal dinner at The Graylyn Estate in late September. It really was the perfect venue for us. Dinner was held in the Atlantis Room and the after party was held right outside in the White Garden. The staff made planning a breeze; many options for food and drink and they offered several useful suggestions for how the evening would unfold. All the food was excellent, in particular the lamb. We could not have imagined a better place - a cool fall evening affair at a stone mansion, beautiful landscaping, great food and drink, lovely attentive staff, and time with family and friends (with a full moon to boot)!
We organized my daughter's wedding from a distance (Europe; 6 hours time difference). All worked out like a charm and will be vivid memories to us and to all our guests forever... This has been a fantastic event and all was extremely well prepared and worked out like a charm. I do not have words to say how great Cindy, the chef, Chandler and Kathy have been in fixing respectively the overall event, the cooking (the chef accepted and implemented with great success a few comments on a couple plates), the initial steps and the admin. Many, many thanks to all, and everyone, of you !
We had a wonderful time and Cindy was awesome. She made sure everything was in order and was a champ. She was there all weekend for multiple weddings from the very start to the end for each one. The venue itself is beautiful and really doesn't need much to decorate with and the food was just as great. we had a few no shows and they were happy to give a few guests those plates that wanted to try a different choice we offered as well as provide my husband and I a plate in our room at the end of the night. We received many compliments and everyone enjoyed their time. Every person we spoke with that works for Graylyn was so nice and helpful. thank y'all so much for making our day great. We look forward to our one year anniversary, as we plan to stay there again.
We had our wedding day at Graylyn and are so happy with how everything turned out. The team was easy to work with when discussing details and listened to what we wanted in order to make the day happen how we envisioned. The photos of Graylyn are pretty but the estate is even more beautiful in person. On the day of our wedding, all the staff was so nice and helpful, our guests could not say enough good things about how taken care of they felt. We are so happy we had our wedding at Graylyn and will cherish our memories from our wedding day forever!
On the day of the wedding the staff and wedding was wonderful. Had a great experience and wedding. Highly recommend.
I attended a wedding here and was unfortunately disappointed with the venue. Importantly, the venue itself is very beautiful and the ceremony location was stunning.
Unfortunately, upon arriving to the venue, guests were not instructed where to go or where the ceremony is (the venue is quite large.) During the reception, dinner service started abruptly and some of us did not realize what was happening until dinner was almost done. During dinner, they ran out of silverware, plates, and bread frequently. I asked the staff logistical questions (where is the dessert, where are extra plates) and did not get clear answers. While it is a beautiful venue, the event seemed disorganized and future couples should address this before booking.
Fairytale wedding dreams come true!
After having to reschedule my dream wedding in Italy due to Covid I had no idea I could find something as beautiful so close to home in Winston Salem NC! From the very beginning , from setting foot into Graylyn I knew it was the place. So beautiful and romantic and reminiscent of a European castle. Chandler and Julia were amazing and guided me every step
Of the way. They are true professionals and felt like family right away. The grounds and buildings on the property are equally as beautiful and the perfect backdrop for
Our wedding photos. All my guests statyed in the Mews and were all speechless on how beautiful the property was. The staff are all so wonderful and friendly. Seriously make you feel like you’ve rented the entire place to yourself. If I could do my wedding all
Over again I would at Graylyn 1000 times. The food is delicious. We had the private tasting with the chef and it was so special. They really treat you like a princess from
The very beginning. If you are looking for the most romantic picturesque that your guests will be talking about for years book at Graylyn! Also a special thanks to Green Bee Florals, local to Winston, for the most amazing flowers I’ve ever seen! It’s been 2 weeks since my wedding and I’m still on a high. Thank you Graylyn and Julia for everything!
I don’t recommend this venue at ALL. They have an extremely shady bait and switch approach to selling their venue. During the tour we were shown the White Garden for our ceremony, the Dining Wing for our dinner and the Atlantis Room for our reception.
We signed the contract in Oct 20 for our wedding in Oct 21. I told them I wanted a year to plan. We understood that with the unpredictability of Covid, our guest count might change a little, but at this point vaccine rollout plans were being made so we weren't too worried about anything beyond a guest cap and masks.
In Oct they said that an event coordinator for the venue would be reaching out to introduce herself shortly. This hadn't happened by Dec, so I reached out and received a greeting. She said since our wedding was so far out she was in "no hurry to nail down details" and told us we could start planning "in the spring." I went ahead and asked about using lights in the Atlantis Room. She said yes.
Mid-March we got updated Covid guidelines for the venue saying no dancing, no more than 25 people, seated dinners, and this applies to weddings through Dec 21. They said they would be reaching out to couples in the coming weeks. We decided we didn't want to have a wedding like this. I noticed then that the contract didn’t include dancing and our reception was listed as the Dining Wing, not the Atlantis Room, despite having been told that's what we would have BEFORE we signed, and the acknowledging of our intent to use it in December AFTER.
We had to be the ones to reach out again and ask about these guidelines in mid-April where they said our contract would work "as written", they would split our guests up to opposite sides of the building to get around their own capacity cap. This was an even worse option for us so we asked if we could schedule a call to discuss maybe some other options and received a date and time a week out. 15 minutes before our call, she asks to reschedule but the soonest she could reschedule to would be a week later. We felt brushed off, so we just emailed back that we would like to cancel the wedding.
A week later, someone emails us and says we are within 180 days from our wedding at the date of our cancellation request that according to our contract we owe 50% of the listed contract estimate. We asked why since nothing has been planned outside the date, and we were TOLD we couldn’t begin planning until the spring despite us having previously asked (In Dec). After a week of no reply we sent a second email stating that we understand the deposit is gone, but we're unsure why we are expected to pay 50% of the contract when nothing else has been done on their part, and we only ended up within 180 days because we had been told to wait to begin planning.
After another week, we finally get a reply telling us we have three options: Keep the date (4 months to plan now), Reschedule for a year out(not an option for us), or pay to cancel.
I feel they intentionally delayed the planning of our wedding because they sold us verbally on all the beautiful details that we didn't notice never made it into the contract. They delayed our planning as long as they could so that when we DID find out THEIR plans for our wedding we owed them money legally despite NO planning having been done AT ALL outside of holding the date. I cannot recommend people avoid this venue enough and I will absolutely be steering every engaged person I know of AWAY from this trap of a venue.

Thank you for sharing feedback regarding your experience at Graylyn. Graylyn has been working diligently to adhere to all state mandates regarding COVID-19 for the last year and a half, which has been an unpredictable and ever changing situatio...
n for all parties involved. There seems to have been miscommunication that has caused your experience to not match your expectations which is important to us, for example the Atlantis Room was included in your contract as it is part of our Living Room Wing of the Manor House. Our goal is for every bride and groom to experience the wedding/event of their dreams so we appreciate your feedback as it will assist us in ways to improve our communication processes moving forward. We wish you and your family the best moving forward.
Graylyn was an absolute dream!! I have grown up going there with my family and to have been married there was just so special. The staff are beyond!!! Everyone is so kind and helpful. You feel like a true queen. I cannot thank everyone there enough. We are so grateful from the bottom of our hearts. 12/10 recommend. Not only is the staff amazing but it is just the most beautiful place.
Beautiful Venue. Great Food (and catering service was phenomenal). Terrible communication. I understand that I was planning a wedding during a pandemic, but they refused to give me a proper tour of the place. When it came to the wedding day, the floor plan was half done and had never been discussed in detail with me despite my multiple efforts to iron out the details. We discussed a tent option in case of rain, but I made it clear that I did not want a tent unless it was needed. When there was a 50% chance of rain on my wedding day, I reached out the day before to discuss options (like delaying the ceremony time). She refused to talk to me or my dad over the phone (my dad was paying and wanted a proper phone call) and she basically said the only option was to pay for the $3000 tent that I had already clearly declined and then she forwarded me to the billing department, and I didn't hear from her after that. Not only was it rude, it completely ruined the night before my wedding as I was going back and forth with my family about how to pay for this ridiculous tent that I didn't want. The morning of the wedding, it was steadily raining, and my family was working their butts off to make sure that the tent that we were being forced to use (and pay for) looked pretty. My cousin asked the coordinator if we could get the table cloths that we were promised, and she said that they would get them when my family "got out of the way". I ended up having the ceremony and reception under the tent - and guess what - it stopped raining right before I started walking down the aisle. If we had delayed it like I asked, it would have been exactly like I wanted. My advice: have your baby shower, wedding shower, business luncheon, wedding photos, etc. here - just don't get married here. If you must (it really IS SO beautiful!), hire a wedding planner to deal with the staff for you and wait until ALL of the covid restrictions are lifted. They won't compromise with you.
My daughter had planned her entire life for her most important day to be held at the Graylyn estate. 3 months away from June 6 2020, our year long plans changed dramatically. The team at Graylyn could not have been more accommodating to us and our entire family ! After tears and regrouping her beautiful wedding became reality in late July. It may have been smaller and intimate than we could have imagined but the beauty of that day will never be forgotten. It was everything and more than we could have imagined minus 275 people. Let the wedding team at Graylyn assist you with your plans big or small. You will be so glad you did !

Lori, we know that COVID unexpectedly altered your daughter's plans last summer. We are so thankful that she was still able to have a gorgeous wedding ceremony at the Graylyn Estate! Thank you for choosing us to be a part of your daughter's spe...
cial day!
Excellent venue to host a wedding or any other special day.
The venue supported all our request and due to COVID kept me well informed on what we could / could not do based on NC Governors guidance.
Additionally, staying at Graylyn made the experience that much more special and took a lot of stress out of that special day.
Chandler: She did an amazing job walking us around the property, showing us the layout of the manor including hotel rooms available (pet friendly), wedding ceremony, reception, cocktail hour set up, etc. Furthermore, due to COVID, we had to change the date which was a non-issue for Graylyn to include reduction of guest allow from initial contract to final contract.
Susan: She was amazing! As my daughters "Wedding Coordinator", Susan was easy to work with and facilitated the experience. Furthermore, she was very receptive to all my questions/concerns. Additionally, she was accepting of my tent layout to what I wanted, spreadsheet with table seating, meal selection, special request, and under 21 numbers. Susan and her team had the tent set up when we needed to facilitate our wedding items that we brought, managed the staff during the dinner, and even repacked our wedding items after the event, Overall - Susan handled everything and anything I requested, changed, updated, or had questions. Excellent coordinator, could have not ask for a better coordinator.
Jennifer (x2) Reservations: Both Jennifer's assisted me when it came to room reservations. Additionally, with COVID, had room cancelations, then rebooking at least 3 times and they both worked with me to insure we had the number of rooms that I needed. Additionally, they ensured we had "pet friendly" rooms.
Kathy: She was great when dealing with payment(s) and keeping track of all the transactions that I did. She was very helpful if/when I had questions and everything was kept up to date with additions and subtractions from the event.
Overall, great experience with Graylyn but based on asking my daughter if she was happy and satisfied which is all that matters.

Mr. Lambert, it was a pleasure working with you and your family. From all of us at Graylyn, thank you for your kind words. We wish you and your family the best and are so thankful that you chose the Graylyn Estate to host your daughter and new ...
son-in-law's wedding!
Look elsewhere. I am very displeased the way the Graylyn treated my daughter. She had to cancel her venue ...My daughters FairyTale wedding became a nightmare! They are keeping her deposit after they changed every detail of the original contract...wanted here to have a tent wedding outside...totally unacceptable. They should get out to the wedding venue business and just be a hotel for now until they get it together

Thank you for sharing feedback regarding your experience at Graylyn. We regret that your experience did not match your expectations. Graylyn is working diligently to adhere to all state and university guidelines regarding COVID-19. Our goal is ...
for every bride to be able to have the wedding/event of their dreams. We wish you and your family the best moving forward.
There aren't enough words to express how wonderful our experience with The Graylyn was. From the day we first walked on property until the day we said "i do", everything was wonderful. Susan guided us through every step of the process and we couldn't have done it without her. She kept us sane in the midst of unavoidable changes in this crazy year, and we are so thankful for her!! Wish we could do it all again! Highly recommend considering Graylyn for your wedding day.

Thank you so much for your kind words Ellie! We are so happy for you and Tyler and wish you the absolute best. Thank you for choosing us to be a part of your special day!
-Your wedding team at Graylyn
We had a fantastic wedding at Graylyn. Like many during 2020, the original 300 person wedding (at a different venue) was postponed and we downsized to a small, intimate wedding at Graylyn. Susan and her staff were amazing to work with and very accommodating. Breath taking atmosphere, delicious food and great staff and service. I highly recommend Graylyn for your wedding!
Response from the Vendor on 11/24/2020
Thank you so much Tracy! We were honored to host your daughter's intimate wedding at Graylyn and hope you will consider us for future events.
-Your wedding team at Graylyn
We got married at the Graylyn estate in March this year. The day turned out perfect - the wedding in the white garden was beautiful, the food was great and the staff was incredible and very efficient and welcoming.
Courtney helped coordinate with us and did a fantastic job of helping us navigate the details of the venue and answering our many many questions throughout the 6 months of planning. She also helped coordinate with the staff on the day and worked closely with our day-of coordinator. Everything worked like clockwork (or we didn't notice otherwise!).
Graylyn was gorgeous and we loved having our wedding there! If we had to do it again, we'd pick Graylyn in a heartbeat.
We absolutely loved having our wedding and reception at Graylyn! Laurie was great to work with when we initially booked and she always took the time to answer our questions. From there, we worked with Courtney to coordinate all the details of the day and she was WONDERFUL! She took the time to answer all of our questions throughout the planning process and really listened to our ideas for how we wanted our wedding day to go. She was so responsive, thorough, and detail oriented! Throughout our whole wedding weekend we were so impressed by all of the Graylyn staff as well. Everyone we interacted with was so friendly and welcoming! We could not have imagined a more perfect venue!
Overall, I had a great experience having my wedding at Graylyn. It's a gorgeous venue, and the staff is committed to making sure everything is just as you want it for the day. The only hiccups I experienced along the way were with the planning. There were multiple staff changes from when we signed on for the wedding to the day, so by the end of it I had been working with 3 separate event coordinators and some things could have fallen through the cracks (e.g. our menu choices were not entered correctly into the event document) if I had not been paying close attention. Julia was ultimately our coordinator for the day, and she was excellent! Otherwise, Chef Rollins was amazing, and my wedding turned out even more beautiful than I planned. Aside from the added planning stress of staff changes and feeling like I had to verify every detail of my wedding to make sure they were correct after some things weren't, I have nothing but positive things to say about Graylyn.
I am very happy to say that I got married at the Graylyn Estate! It is such a beautiful estate inside and out with lots of history. The White Garden with the gazebo was absolutely beautiful for my spring wedding and the Atlantis Room was the perfect place for my reception. I do not believe that there could have been a more perfect place to have my wedding. Laurie Connolly and Julia Campbell were so helpful and responsive. The staff went above and beyond our expectations and our wedding would not have been the same without them. Also, I was very happy with the pricing they offer for a Sunday day wedding.
Graylyn is gorgeous, and my husband and I could not have had a better day for our wedding. If you choose Graylyn, be prepared that there does seem to be a high turnover rate in the event coordinator/planning department. We ended up with Courtney as our final even planner, and she was spectacular. She was readily available, and quick to respond to email/phone calls. She was incredibly organized. I do highly recommend having your own day-off coordinator as the event coordinator at Graylyn is specifically focused on managing the team at Graylyn and is not able to help with timing, etc. I thoroughly enjoyed my wedding at Graylyn, and thought it was absolutely beautiful. I know I will have gorgeous pictures from the venue, and the food was amazing.
It was a dream come true. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. They made a fairy tale come true, and it was so beautiful, I saved on decorations. None needed for this gorgeous venue. Affordable too!
As the mother of the bride and a wedding planner, I will always cherish the decision we made to have Chelsea's wedding at Graylyn Estate. The venue is absolutely stunning and the feel was that of a fairy tale. Beautiful, romantic, and amazing was the grounds and manor house, The coordinator, Farah Scruggs was a gem to work with. She went out of her way so many times, I cannot even count. I would not hesitate having your dream wedding here, Thank you Graylyn. The wedding was one we will never forget!
Beautiful venue, and our wedding ended up being perfect. There were some miscommunications between the sales team when we toured and the event coordinator which resulted in some extra stress and expense but in the end it all worked out.
This venue is full of history and elegance. You won't need much decor as the manor and estate grounds speak for themselves. From beginning to end, each person we made contact with was extremely helpful and eager to make our day perfect.
Krissy, the account manager, wrote up our estimate based on what we knew we were interested in doing--a Sunday brunch wedding--and tweaked details as we changed our minds.
Farah acts as the onsite wedding coordinator and she does a beautiful job of providing a vast well of information about Graylyn and what they are willing and able to do to make your wedding exactly what you want. She is honest and shows true interest in your ideas. Thanks to her, we found amazing vendors to help with hair, make-up, etc. Definitely use her vast well of knowledge, she won't steer you in the wrong direction.
The day of our wedding, the staff members were more than kind and did all they could to make sure we and our guests were comfortable and fed!
The brunch menu is amazing. The bacon, quiche and coffee are out of this world! Our guests raved about each detail the manor house and butlers/employees provided on our day.
The only thing I will warn you about is that a non-alcoholic beverage package is $12.50 pp++. They won't tell you this until you get your invoice. SURPRISE! But it's worth it for their peach lemonade & coffee. Trust me.
I have to say the venue is gorgeous. I am getting married here on 10/18/14, and the process has been stressful when dealing with Graylyn. When my fiance and I toured the place Krissy was great, and was helpful in what was included. We were told that we would not need a coordinator since Graylyn had a event coordinator already who is Paula. In the beginning Paula was helpful, but that only lasted for about a month. It is extremely difficult to get a hold of her or to hear any response at all. I have even delayed sending invitations because I have no idea how the selection of menu process goes (which I need to place selections on my RSVP since we are having a seated dinner). This is frustrating since 100% of my guests are out of town. What is even more aggravating is Paula said we would need to hire a day of coordinator when we were told we would not have to on the day of tour. I am hoping our day is smooth, and thanks to Bliss by Sam Weddings who will be coordinating our wedding I feel a bit more confident. I also would not recommend blocking rooms with Graylyn unless you are 100% certain who is wanting to stay there. They charge you for all the extra rooms that did not get booked. Even before the cut-off date you tell them you will not be needing that extra room they will still charge you.
My wedding at Graylyn was an absolute dream. There isn't one thing I would change about my wedding day. The service was incredible, the location was beautiful, and everything went seamlessly. I loved the property and all of my family and friends being able to stay right there. The morning of the wedding it was so fun to go up to breakfast and see everyone all spending time together.
The difficult part about this venue was the planning. We had extreme issues with the overnight accommodation reservations, we were even told when we went to check in that they did not have a reservation for the Bride/Groom- I was horrified! It ended up being a mistake. We asked for a list of room availability to try and assist our guests with reserving rooms near other family members/guests since the property is so large, we never got the list. Numerous family members told us the reservation desk was horrible to deal with.
I also struggled a bit with Paula. I felt as though she was pushing me towards certain vendors and choices for my wedding. She was a bit condescending about the choices I did make that were not part of their approved vendor list. I was resistant to call her to ask questions, because I felt like I got a bit of an attitude when I did. I have to admit though, the week before she walked me through my wedding weekend step by step, which alleviated a major part of my nerves to know everything was taken care. Also- the day of the wedding she was superb.
Graylyn was absolutely beautiful. Everyone was so kind and accommodating - our guests felt true Southern hospitality here.
From the beginning, the staff and crew at Graylyn could NOT have been nicer. Everytime I visited the estate, the butlers and front desk went out of their way to make me feel welcome. The venus is so amazing that it needs very little decorating. Paula is wonderful and very helpful - she will definitely steer you in the right direction. They gave me the wedding I always wanted. You have to use their caterers, but that's okay, becuase the food is superb!
We had a wonderful time! The ceremony took place at my family church but our guests all stayed at Graylyn and we had our reception in the Grey Dining Room. The staff was wonderful and the setting was vintage and classic. I love the historic nature of the property.
My only qualm was that when trying to secure certain details they seemed a bit unorganized. We worked with 3 different people and kept getting mixed information.
Once the event began they were on their game but up until the day we arrived we weren't 100% sure if all was prepared accordingly.
All in all- it was a dream wedding for royalty and the Graylyn Estate made me feel like a princess.
The estate is beautiful, the house magnificent, wonderful for priceless photos. However I would have to review Paula, the wedding and events coordinator, poorly. Paula was somewhat demeaning, and tried to talk us out of some of the things we really wanted. She insisted that she knew what was best because of her experience at Graylyn. There were also some things that were supposed to happen that she didn't deliver. I have wonderful memories of my wedding day, but not of planning it and working with Paula.
The friendly staff and the wedding coordinator, Paula, are such a delight to work with and will do anything for you! It was hard for me to plan a wedding being in Ohio, but Paula was there every step of the way! Also, they all work their butts off the day of the wedding and if anything (like rain) were to be thrown in the mix, they do everything they can to make things perfect! My wedding was amazing and I owe it all to them!
venue is great. However a little spread out, with a large guest count everyone is in a different room. You miss things that way. Atmosphere is very elegant. But ,the bad news is the wedding event planner you have to work with at Graylyn is very hard. She has a way she does weddings and it is hard to get anything you want. She will promise you the world, and the week of your wedding she is calling all YOUR vendors and making decisions for you! I was fighting with her THE DAY OF about things she had changed that I DID NOT WANT! I had to call and tell my vendors that I WAS PAYING THE BILL, and not to let her mess MY WEDDING up!!!!!!! Be careful!! But if you like what she likes, I am sure things would go much more smooth, just no unique ideas.
Our wedding was absolutely perfect at Graylyn. I would highly recommend this venue to any other bride. Their service was phenominal and they accomodated every request we had. It was also a great value based on comparisons with other venues i was interested in.
Graylyn is magnificent. The garden is charming, the estate amazing, and the house stunning. It was the perfect venue for my wedding ceremony and reception. The staff provided impeccable service and truly gourmet food. THE place for weddings in the triad.
