Father John was a wonderful officiant. He kept in close communication with my fiance and me. He met with us beforehand and personalized the ceremony according to our wishes. He did all the necessary paperwork and was thorough and punctual. Father John is a lot of fun but also takes the sacrament of marriage seriously and with reverence. My new husband and I enjoyed having him for our officiant as did our guests. I'm certain you will too!
Have always loved this setting growing up, and it was absolutely magical on our wedding day. Having had an evening winter wedding, the rooms twinkled and the lighting was perfect. Food was absolutely delicious, and there was a lot of variety of appetizers as well as desserts. Barbara was great
to work with and although used to a certain way of doing things, allowed us to make some changes to better suit our vision. Staff made sure to get appetizers and drinks to the bridal party, and I felt very tended to. Awesome experience!
A place of dreams! From the unique eclectic atmosphere, to the remarkable food and the unprecedented service, my husband and I could not have been happier that we chose Loch Nairn for our special day. Even in the pouring rain and gusting winds, this place is magical. Carolyn was our wedding coordinator and she went above and beyond. We cannot wait to visit for our one year anniversary and for many anniversaries to come!
Loch Nairn was exactly what I wanted for my wedding. It was absolutely beautiful, the food was delicious, and the service was spectacular. Barbara was wonderful to work with and helped me plan everything along the way (she even found my band for me). I didn't have to worry about anything the day of because I knew that Barbara and the staff had everything under control. They were so accommodating and even took away one of the tables half way through the night to make the dance floor larger. I would highly recommend Loch Nairn to anyone that is looking for a beautiful venue.
We had our ceremony and reception at Loch Nairn. We chose this venue because it was beautiful and it wasn't a typical ballroom. From the beginning of the planning process, Barbara was wonderful making sure everything we wanted was done.
Our ceremony went off without a problem under their tree on the property. Our guest were then wisked to cocktail hour where they had tons of food and our signature drink. The staff placed the appetizers at our table for us to eat since we were taking pictures during cocktail hour.
Dinner was amazing and cooked perfectly. All the staff was perfect making sure we had everything we needed.
After the wedding, we have been told by many of our guest on the amazing time they had and how much they loved the venue.
My new husband and I were married on friday June 7th at Loch Nairn Golf Club. It was in the midst of our first named storm of the year, Andrea. Despite the pouring rain and wind, it was perfect. This was mostly due to Barbara Barnes, Eric, and the rest of the staff at Loch Nairn Golf Club.
From the moment I met Barbara and decided to have our whole wedding there, ceremony and reception.. I knew I was in good hands! Than came our food tasting and my husband and I were even more excited.
First off, we had to make a decision. Do we have the wedding outside underneath the beautiful tree (which is what we wanted), underneath the outside tented area (plan B), or inside? Barbara informed me the decision was mine (I was very happy about this) and I needed to make the decision by 2:30pm wedding day. Barbara called me that morning and informed me that the tented area looked as if it may flood (all I ever wanted was to be married outside though :(.. I told her I wanted to do the tent, and she made it work!! And, despite the rain beating down on the tent, it was amazing. All our guests agreed and told us that the rain had made it more intimate :)
Onto the reception, my new husband and I had a member of the wait staff hanging around us all evening. At no point did I have to seek out a glass of sangria or water. Our cocktail hour and dinner was delicious. We received many compliments on the steak and chicken that we picked. I highly recommend the "Chicken Madeira."
I really appreciated the fact that Barbara Barnes was there from the beginning of the day until the very end. I liked that she saw our wedding through from September 2012 when we booked, until the very end!
I also want to mention Eric, the head of the wait staff at Loch Nairn.. If you have your wedding there, you definitely want him in charge! He is just great and seems as if he really loves his job. The rest of staff also seem so happy and it's probably because of Eric.
Bottom line: if you're looking for a unique venue, with character, delicious food, beautiful scenery (even in the rain) and wonderful, friendly, happy staff.. Loch Nairn is the place!!
Wish I could do it all again :)
We had our ceremony and our reception at this lovely spot in Chester County. We fell in love with the architecture, the feel of the place, and the very large old tree planted by William Penn which our ceremony would be under. It felt different than your typical banquet hall, and that is what we wanted. Initially we dealt with a woman named Rebecca who was wonderful. My husband and I have a catering background and knew what we wanted pretty specifically, some of it out of the box for Loch Nairn. She was on board with us and was great throughout the planning process. The problem began when she told us she was leaving Loch Nairn about a month before our wedding. I was as organized and helpful as I could be to the woman taking her place for our big day, as ours would be about her first wedding to supervise. Not sure where things went wrong exactly, but in the end LN dropped the ball on some pretty important and some pretty basic details during our wedding day. Good first - the food was amazing, all of our guests truly ate well and agreed it was not typical boring wedding food. They all loved the place itself, and the fact that Mother Nature held off and gave us good weather so we could be married under the big tree. But, our ceremony started about 15-20 minutes late apparently due to LN not being ready which I was not at all happy about. My groom and myself did not get drinks or food during our cocktail/picture hour until I asked for it, no one brought us a bridal tray or was there to take care of the bridal party. That did not make me happy at all! We ended up missing out on one or two passed hors because they never made it to us. We had wine and drink pairings for our stationary hors table - the glasses and wine were out but by 2/3 the way through the cocktail hour not one staff member had opened the wine and poured it into the glasses for guests, again, not until I saw it and asked them to. Not happy again. The wine was very important to us, part of our theme and a big part of who we are so that wine and food pairing not going off well disturbed us. We had one room for cocktails and one for the main event - they both looked wonderful and were spacious enough for guests to move about easily which was important to us. Once we moved inside, our bridal party service did improve a bit. Our servers and busboy were very kind and helpful to our guests and ourselves, we just didn't have enough staff to begin with to cover everything that needed to get done to set up for our celebration - a fact I had expressed concern about often to LN before the big day. We did dance the night away and had an amazingly fun time at our party. But when we came to the end of it, I had a hard time leaving because LN was after us about settling our consumption bar bill and our final tab. We had to come back the next day to pick up items we had used at the wedding and planned our taking care of business then. They kind of hounded us a bit, even going so far as to go to my best man and ask him for payment when they knew quite well I was responsible for all finances. We missed our after party we had set up because we could not escape LN and were still waiting for our cars to be loaded up with items from the course of the night. In the end, our guests did not really notice too much that went astray but we sure did. I am not saying I would not recommend them, in the end I would. But if you are not a really typical bride be a little wary as I think that threw them
We fell in love with Loch Nairn the moment we drove up. It's a completely different, unique venue with a very cozy, rustic (but elegant) feel to it. Everyone who saw it as well as everyone who came to our reception loved it as well and I think it created a truly memorable night. The food is amazing (especially the salmon), the service was top notch, and Barbara was the perfect person to work with - she kept everything the day of on schedule and we didn't have to worry about any details the day of because we knew we were in good hands! We also held our ceremony there outside under the big tree, which turned out beautiful. You really don't need to bring in much decoration besides flowers, because LN has so much character as is. Do keep in mind that they won't close the attached tavern to regular guests, so if you want someplace where the venue is 100% yours then you might be disappointed, but we didn't mind and neither did our guests, as they enjoyed getting a drink in the tavern or catching up with friends in there if they didn't feel like dancing. Also keep in mind that ideally you don't want more than 180 guests if you're there - we had 155 and that felt like the perfect number. Everyone seemed to like the "cocktail service" that they do, where the servers bring guests drinks so the guests don't have to wait in line at the bar. Again, the food quality is great, and not your typical bland, overcooked, cold banquet food. The servers are so accommodating and very professional. Another thing I loved about LN is that they use long oval tables instead of the normal rounds - we had gone to a wedding where they had those, and it's great because you can talk to almost everyone at the table instead of just the person to your left and right, and it also gives a more intimate feel oerall. If you choose Loch Nairn you will not be disappointed!
Loch Nairn was the first venue we went to - we loved it so much we booked it weeks later. I had originally had Rebecca as my wedding coordinator, but she had left and Barbara became my new planner. Barbara was SO sweet the entire time. She really took care of me. The staff was so friendly and we got many compliments on the food. We got married on a Sunday during lunch time (cuts the cost in half!) and although we could not use the round room, we did not even notice people were there at all. Everything was perfect and beautiful and set up just the way we wanted. I wish I could do it again!
I love The Farmhouse. It was a beautiful place and setting. Very country and rustic; just my style. Food was delicious.
i used Loch Nairn as my ceremony and reception site. I loved the venue. the food was amazing and the place is beautiful. The wedding planner from teh venue was great, until the week ok. she was a totally different person. she kept trying to make me do things her way and change my ceremony because she said it wasn't normal (which it was.) My ceremony musician had brought a mic for the ceremony like i wanted and she refused to put it there. i thought he forgot until i talked to him later. (he is a friend of mine) one of my bride'd maids confirmed. she wanted me to do things like cut the cake as soon as i was done dinner and at first wasn't taking no for an answer. If you are a bride who knows what you want, she is not the person for you. i think she was flustered with the large wedding we had she wants it done her way, not the bride's way. everyone else there was phenominal. the wait staff was great but because of her, i will not give the service 5 stars. she brought it all down. when the night was over i asked if the top of my cake was with everything and she told me it was. the next day i found out it was not. i had to call her and only then did she look for it and find it was in a back freezer. luckily we waited a day to go on our honeymoon or we wouldn't have gotten the top of the cake to cut on our 1 year anniversary. i had to have my mother and sister go pick it up. the place is beautiful though and the food is amazing.
Loved Rebecca Brooks, our event planner from Loch Nairn. And the day was absolutely beautiful. The ceremony was perfect.
And the food was unreal.... so delicious!
Loch nairn was a perfect location for our wedding. It was an intimate and beautiful venue, with a nice folksy feel. The wedding coordinator was extremely helpful, and ensured that your day went as planned.
Loch Narin was a perfect place for our wedding reception. Everything was taken care of by the fabulous Rebecca and her staff, and I didn't have to worry about a thing! It is a gorgeous venue and we couldn't have been happier with the entire reception - from start to finish!
I worked with Rebecca at Loch Nairn and from the first message I left her, I could tell that she was going to be easy to work with. She is very laid back, calming and soothing when you feel frazzled. The only drawback is that sometimes she was too laid back and took an extraordinary amount of time to return phone calls AND emails. I am not claiming to be the most put together bride, but it almost became a case of who is working for who. Honestly though, the day of the wedding went perfectly because she was there. After the ceremony, she even brought us food and drink while we did pictures.
The reception was magnificent! Food was impeccable! We had 100 guests and did a buffet. It did take a verrrrry long time for every table to be served and as soon as the last table went through, they started packing stuff up. I wasn't too thrilled with that b/c the purpose of paying nearly as much per plate for a buffet was so more people could have seconds.
I will say, that the top #1 reason that I would recommend The Greathouse for a wedding would be because of the one server, Eric. He was such a pleasure to be around, and he really made me feel like he was honored to get me a glass of champagne, hold my plate, etc. I had to tell him that I'm not used to being waited on and that he had to stop so I wouldn't get too used to it! LOL. I heard great things about the other servers from a large number of my guests. I wasn't thrilled when I didn't get a drink for over an hour, but as soon as Eric saw me, he appeared by my side with a beverage. He was the greatest! It would definitely be in your best interest to request him.
Overall, there were a few things that could have gone smoother, so if you choose Loch Nairn (which you should!), just try to stay on top of everything. I had a great time working with them - Rebecca is a blast to be around and she really went above and beyond the day of the wedding to make sure we had a beautiful experience.
I could not have picked a better location. When I first walked in the room at the Greathouse at Loch Nairn on a cold night in February, I knew this room, warm in a way that defied the cold outdoors, was the perfect place for my July wedding. I protested my instincts and continued to look for other locations, but nothing measured up to that feeling, so i booked the room. I even changed my date so that I could have this wonderful location. From the very first meeting, the staff was warm and gracious, and the banquet manager (aka wedding coordinator extraordinaire) Barbara Barnes was there for me whenever I had a question, or needed a reccomendation for other support vendors. When I showed up months later to prepare for the big day, it was as I'd remembered it (OK, i'd stopped in to enjoy dinner several times, though I had never eaten there before!). Barbara and her team were great, including the chef, who prepared an off-the-menu request for us. All the reccomendations I got from Barbara were equally great, and my wedding day was as perfect as I could have hoped for. Even down to the perfect May weather (in JULY!!!) ont he day of the wedding, so the ceremony could occur in a room of wide open french doors, bringing the outside in! Thank you so much, to Barbara and the team at Loch Nairn
Everything. We had our main room a cocktail room (we had it all night as well) which had a wall full of doors that were left open for a nice breeze and a deck people could go out onto. The ambiance was PERFECT for our intimate wedding of 92 people - wooden floors white christmas lights exposed wooden beams in the cathedral ceiling (very rustic) but the best of all is their event coordinator Rebecca Brooks. Absolutely amazing! The food was superb.;The main room only seats at most about 120-130 people so if you had a larger group they would have to spill over into the cocktail room
