We had our hearts set on getting married at The Griffin House for a long time, and somehow, our wedding day there still managed to surpass every expectation we had—and those expectations were sky-high.
The setting is nothing short of breathtaking. That Westcliff view? Impossible to beat. But as stunning as the venue is, the real magic is in everything beyond the view…
The team at The Griffin House made the entire experience seamless. Their professionalism, attention to detail, and genuine care were beyond anything we could have imagined. They went above and beyond at every turn, ensuring that our day wasn’t just special—it was flawless. And when we hit a major snag (totally unrelated to the venue), they didn’t hesitate. They stopped everything, helped us make calls, problem-solve, and get things back on track. We truly couldn’t have done it without them.
We knew getting married here would be incredible, but we had no idea just how magical it would feel. The Griffin House didn’t just meet our dream—it exceeded it in every way. If you’re considering getting married here, do it. I promise you’ll look back on your day with the happiest, most beautiful memories. Honestly, I tear up just thinking about ours.
To the entire team—thank you for making our dream a reality. We are forever grateful, and if we could do it all over again, we would in a heartbeat.
I had dreamed about getting married at The Griffin House for quite sometime. Our wedding day and experience at TGH exceeded all expectations, and let me tell you, those expectations were through the roof, HIGH.
The location is simply breathtaking, with the unparalleled view from Westcliff, it doesn’t get more beautiful than this! But the natural beauty of the venue is only the start of what makes it so special...
The team at The Griffin House made every moment feel effortless. Their professionalism, attention to detail, and genuine care were beyond anything we could have imagined. They went above and beyond to ensure that our wedding day was not just special, but absolutely perfect. When we hit a major roadblock (completely unrelated to the venue), the team didn’t hesitate for a second. They dropped everything to help us make calls, pick up the pieces, and get everything back on track. We honestly couldn't have done it without their support.
We knew our wedding here would be amazing, but we had no idea just how magical it would truly be. The Griffin House turned our dream day into a reality, and it exceeded all of our expectations. If you’re considering getting married here, do it. Guaranteed you will look back on your day with the happiest, fondest and most beautiful memories- I tear up just thinking about our wedding day at TGH.
Thank you so much to the entire team for making our dreams come true. We are forever grateful for everything you did to make our dream a reality. I wish we could do it again.
We had the most magical wedding day at The Griffin House this past October, and it was truly a dream come true! As a type-A bride (who so badly wants to claim that I’m not), I have to say everything about this venue made us feel supported, comfortable, and stress-free from start to finish.
The venue itself is absolutely breathtaking with views of the Columbia River Gorge that our family and friends are still raving about - even the ones who have lived their whole lives in the area. Over half of our guests traveled from the East Coast as first-timers to Oregon and this place made their visit even more unforgettable. I can’t say enough about how well laid out the natural space of this venue is. From the getting-ready areas in the house itself to the ceremony to cocktail hour and the reception tent, it is quite literally perfect.
One of the many, many reasons we went with The Griffin House was their open inventory they offer couples to style the grounds in their own unique way. We loved being able to add our personal touches to such a beautiful space and make the venue uniquely ours, while still showcasing its natural charm and beauty. No matter what vibe you’re going for with your wedding, they have such a great collection of pieces and will save you a fortune on generic rentals that you see at every other wedding. Even scrolling through their Instagram for ideas before our big day, I saw so many different styles showcased and not one wedding looked the same.
The entire TGH team were truly amazing throughout the entire planning process. Courtney, their venue coordinator, was always readily available to answer questions and worked seamlessly with all of our vendors to make the day perfect. This place thought of every little detail that a couple could want, which allowed us to relax and fully enjoy every moment of our wedding day.
The Griffin House exceeded all of our expectations and we’re forever grateful for the most incredible wedding day we had there. This place is a must for couples dreaming of an unforgettable celebration in one of the most stunning locations imaginable.
The Griffin House is pure magic. The team they have curated are the best in the business, from our initial calls, to site visit, communication with us, our planner, and vendors, their professionalism and expertise made the day of so smooth. The VIEWS (!!!) come on! But on top of that, the entire property is well maintained, they have an amazing furniture selection that made our day feel like a home away from home, the house for getting ready is perfectly luxurious and cozy, and their vendor list is AMAZING. It’s obvious they take great pride with every single part of a wedding day.
Everyone we encountered from TGH team blew us away, from our initial venue call with Amy who answered all of our questions and made sure to get to know us as a couple even just through the phone! They made sure to work with our crazy schedules for a site visit (I had actual tears seeing the venue for the first time in-person). Then Peyton, who worked seamlessly with our vendors, made sure the day went off without a hitch - she rocks. We are so thankful for TGH team.
Its hard to come up with the right words for this special place, but to put it plainly, there is no where like The Griffin House.
The Griffin House’s picturesque view offered us a dreamscape our guests are still ogling over!
Amy helped us from site visit through execution of our perfect day. Amy was attentive, responsive, & partner oriented. She worked hard to ensure our wedding day was everything we dreamed! We couldn’t have asked for a better partner to work with throughout the planning process. On the day of, her calming presence & expertise made the day even smoother to support our day-of coordinator.
After the wedding, she sent us the sweetest gift - which I won’t spoil for future couples!
We recommend the Griffin House venue & team 10x over!
We recently had the opportunity to film a wedding at the Griffin House and were blown away. We’d seen it all over social media and it was on our bucket list of venues to work at and it perfectly lived up to our expectations. Courtney was our main contact preceding the day and was on-site during the event, working with the planner to make sure everything was perfect for the couple. The flow of the whole day was seamless. The house itself is beautifully curated, which made getting ready photos/videos absolutely incredible. The views are unmatched and the overall feeling you get while being there is intimate, calm, and private. Hope to be back next season for more weddings.
The Griffin House was my dream wedding site for our small wedding. The views, the ceremony spot, the house...everything is gorgeous and well maintained. The staff are great to work with and everything went very smoothly. I would 1,000% recommend to anyone looking to get married!
We got married at the Griffin House on 9/7/2024. I fell in love with this venue as soon as we first looked at it. No other venue in the area was comparable to the Griffin House. Amy was also extremely helpful, from answering our questions to making sure the inventory we selected for our wedding looked good. She is kind and easy to work with. I highly recommend getting married here.
We got married at The Griffin House in May 2024, and it was the most gorgeous venue we could have imagined. We actually prolonged our engagement because the Griffin House was booked out, and it is one of the best decisions we made. I was impressed with their professionalism, efficiency, and quick ability to navigate issues that arose day of. The weather was blustery day of the wedding, which made for a dramatic and stunning ceremony and photos. Kate Cook was our point person throughout, and she was communicative and proactive from the very beginning. When it looked like it might be storming during the ceremony itself, she calmly discussed options with me and my wedding planner, and I had full faith in her. Another huge benefit of booking with the Griffin House is their list of trusted vendors, which made our lives so much easier in the initial stages of wedding planning.
The view is iconic and speaks for itself. We loved seeing our guests experience the Griffin House’s beauty, and now love looking back at all of our photos. It felt really special to get married at the Griffin House, and we would 1000% choose it again if we could!
Our wedding at The Griffin House was so perfect in every way! I grew up in Hood River, and my husband and I were so excited to show off the absolute magic of the area to our many family and friends who had never visited Hood River before. The Griffin House was everything we hoped for and more. The venue itself is so elevated, timeless, and intimate, while showcasing the stunning natural beauty of the Columbia Gorge - our guests are still raving about it. Each part of our wedding day flowed perfectly, from the special morning getting ready inside the beautiful house, to the stunning ceremony, to cocktail hour set against river views, to the reception inside the glowing, magical tent - we cherish the memories from every moment! Marlowe and the entire TGH team were so communicative, thoughtful, and accommodating at each stage of the process, and we absolutely loved working with Taniya as our venue coordinator, who helped us prepare for the wedding and made sure our day flowed seamlessly. We love The Griffin House and could not recommend it more highly!
We cannot stop obsessing over the Griffin House! We received incredible support leading up to the wedding and of course, on the day of! We were grateful to work with you Taniya and TGH team. The Griffin House is beyond stunning - our guests were amazed and we are still dreaming of our wedding day there.
The Griffin House is the most incredible venue. We waited extra to get this venue because it is so picturesque, the team is so supportive and helpful, the opportunity to bring in your own vendors is so unique and we loved it. Our wedding was the most magical day and it is all because of this spot and our vendors :)
We got married at The Griffin House in September and it was the most incredible experience. We are still getting sooooo many compliments on the venue from people who came and also people who just saw videos and photos. You seriously cannot beat the view. People thought we were in Italy lol! The whole process with TGH was very smooth. The staff is so wonderful, easy to work with and they have a great system down. We really wanted a venue that allowed us to be creative and bring in all the vendors we wanted and TGH was fully on board with all of our ideas. We loved getting ready in the house on the property, everywhere you turn is just filled with magic. If you're looking for an outdoor venue that's beautiful, timeless and will leave your guests speechless - BOOK THE GRIFFIN HOUSE!!!! I wish we could get married there over and over again.
We can't say enough good things about how lovely this venue is. We knew from the second we visited that this was where we wanted to get married. All of our wedding guests said it was the most stunning place they've ever been and couldn't stop gushing about it. The whole team was wonderful and so helpful from the very first call. We adored Taniya and felt very lucky to have her be our main contact from start to finish. All of the furniture is available through them and it's great quality. If you are thinking about getting married here, do it! It was perfect.
Hands down the best venue of all time. If you want a venue that will absolutely blow your guests away, this is it! So many of our guests said this was the most beautiful venue they've ever been to, including their own weddings! We've had wedding guests tell us this, at other people's very beautiful weddings!
Courtney and the team at The Griffin House are organized, professional, and so easy to work with.
If we could get married here over and over again, we would :)
The Griffin House is without question a breathtakingly beautiful venue, there are truly just no words that could do it justice. Yet, what really made getting married here so special was the incredibly supportive and knowledgeable team. From start to finish, they are unquestionably committed to helping you make your wedding feel like a dream come true; we could not be more grateful. Thank you, Marlowe, Courtney and the entire GH team!
Truly the most magical place! The Griffin House is absolutely breathtaking but it isn’t just about the views. We were taken well care of from start to finish and the entire planning process felt very smooth and organized! Amazing vendor recommendations, tons of amenities, and a member of their team to help you along the way. The Griffin House will always hold a special place in our hearts!
There are no words to describe how perfect our August wedding at the Griffin House was. We knew early on in our wedding planning that this was the dream venue for us. And from our initial phone consultation with the Griffin House team, through the booking process, the months of planning, the site visit, and the day itself, we were constantly more and more impressed. This team and this venue is so special. The location itself is jaw-droppingly beautiful, but the ease with which the team operates, partners with vendors, and encourages support of local Hood River businesses is a site to behold. Not once did we question a single thing when it came to the Griffin House and its team. We are so grateful for the most wonderful, dreamy wedding that we will cherish the memories of forever.
A dream spot to get married and a dream team to work with.
We cannot say enough good things about The Griffin House. The staff, the grounds, the accommodations, and so much more, surpassed our expectations in so many ways. Planning a destination wedding without visiting The Griffin House might be enough to send a newly engaged couple straight to counseling, however, Annie was a godsend and was exceptionally helpful in providing all of the detailed information we needed. The day of went without a hitch and was truly outstanding. Our guests were in awe of all that is The Griffin House experience. We could not be more grateful for our experience. The Griffin House and their staff will always have a special place in our hearts and memories.
We were very pleased by our wedding at The Griffin House. We knew this was the ideal venue for us the moment we saw the view – which is undeniably one of the best views of the Columbia River Gorge!
One of the biggest advantages of The Griffin House is their curated inventory supply of furniture and decorative pieces. This offered us a set up that really was pleasant and unique while also giving us less to worry with rentals. We truly felt like we paid for more than a venue: we got an entire wedding experience that wowed our guests.
Having the house for the entire day and getting ready and having breakfast with our families was a really nice touch to start the day. We nearly had complete control over choosing our vendors, as well as our execution and appreciated the flexibility.
We wanted to thank Angela who toured us, Taniya who really did an excellent job running through our first conversation and most importantly Courtney who was very thorough and responsive to our needs the day of the wedding. We had an incredibly flawless wedding day. Our only wish would have been to go later than the 10pm curfew they have, but obviously we understand. We just didn’t want the night to end! We couldn’t be happier with the outcome and still have guests raving months after so we won’t hesitate to give The Griffin House our fullest recommendation. We highly recommend you consider a September or early October wedding as the wind was nonexistent for us and our guests had a perfect weekend in Hood River.
I started looking at venues when we got engaged & knew immediately this was our venue without going to do any tours. We got married June 2022 & had the best experience. The view is absolutely stunning, it’s breathtaking in person. The staff is so accommodating, their furniture inventory is great & vendor recommendations. My only complaint has nothing to do with the venue, we were pretty disappointed in our photos & wish we could come back to take more!! Amazing venue & staff, highly recommend!!!
We had our wedding at The Griffin House in May 2022 and it was hands down the most incredible experience. Our guests are still talking about how beautiful our wedding venue was. The staff were so accommodating and helpful, the inventory that we were able to use was incredible and the views are simply unmatched. Truly something out of a fairytale. We can't recommend this venue enough!!
My husband and I got married at the Griffin House this past October and it was a dream! We were blessed with perfect weather, incredible views, and an amazing team of vendors to help pull off the perfect day! Pictures truly don’t do the Griffin House justice, it feels as if you’re in a fairytale! We had the house all day to get ready and an amazing team making sure we knew where everything was. The views were so incredible and we got to experience the most beautiful sunrise and sunset. The day was so perfect that my only complaint is that the wedding had to end at 10 pm. We were having such a great time, I wish it could’ve gone on all night! You won’t regret booking the Griffin House for your wedding. It is such a special place and I hope we can visit again soon!
Words can’t express the magic that this venue holds. From the moment we found it online we knew it was something special, but didn’t fully understand it till the big day.
We are from Ohio and booked this venue with just a video tour and couldn’t have been happier. The venue speaks for its self but then the staff, just tipped it over the top!
Taniya was like a part of the family even went out of her way to get FOG some meds from a store near by when he started to feel ill during the reception. Before the day she helped figure out where to put the inventory we had access to, answered any questions we came up with, she was overall a huge help leading up to the big day and all the way through!
If you’re thinking about booking..do it. You won’t regret it!
The most stunning venue ever! With an exceptional staff! We couldn't have asked for a better place to have our wedding. The Griffin House is incredibly picturesque while also feeling homey and intimate. Our goal was to have our wedding feel like an intimate party at our home - it was absolutely perfect for us. We didn't look at any other venues. There aren't words to do justice to the sunset views down the gorge from the property. Taniya was our venue coordinator and she was so sweet and accommodating. The venue also has an incredible inventory of furniture to use and they set it all up for you on your day! We didn't need to do much else decor because the venue itself, their furniture, and the setting are beautiful enough. Can't recommend The Griffin House enough!
We’re not sure how we stumbled upon the Griffin House as we live in Chicago and and never been to Oregon, but we happened to see a picture of the property and the view some time a while back and knew we wanted to remember to look into it when the time came. Once we finally started thinking about venues, we really fell in love with the Griffin House. We hadn’t seen it in person yet but going purely on pictures and reviews of numerous other weddings, conversations with the team, and a little of our own research about the area, we felt comfortable saying that this was our place. It is hard to believe that even with a year and a half of seeing the view, visualizing our day, and planning every little detail, our experience at the Griffin House still managed to exceed our expectations. For starters, the property itself is beyond perfect. The house for getting ready gives you a perfect space for the wedding party and family before the wedding, with separate but perfectly comfortable areas for both groups to keep apart until the ceremony or first look. The grounds of the venue are beautiful, with distinct separate areas for the arrival, ceremony, cocktail hour, and the reception, but all with the same incredible feel and view. The signature view from the cliff looking out over the gorge is indescribable, and pictures truly do not do it justice. We spent the week before driving all through the mountains and taking in some incredible scenery, yet arriving at the Griffin House on our wedding day, we immediately realized that this was easily the best view we’d seen all week. A ton of our guests (all having made the trip from Chicago and New York) mentioned that this was the best wedding venue they’d ever been to. Another incredible element that the Griffin House offers is access to a curated inventory of stunning furniture. The team helped our vision come to life through the styling of all of the unique couches, rugs, and small details. They helped us create several unique little lounge areas and other aesthetically nice arrangements for our cocktail hour and reception. Finally, the team at the Griffin House did an amazing job of helping us prepare for our wedding. From the owner of the venue Marlowe, to Annie who helped with the booking and initial details, to our day of venue manager Taniya, everyone was such a pleasure to work with and so helpful with our questions. Taniya in particular was such an awesome person to have involved in our special day. She really went out of her way to make sure that we were comfortable, organized and that we had everything we needed. She made sure we had access to the house for all of our personal items whenever we needed and was always willing to step in and lend a hand with things here and there when she had a moment. Most importantly, she was so personable and pleasant to work with all day, and we could tell that she truly cared about making our day as great as possible. We cannot recommend the Griffin House enough, it is truly the perfect wedding venue!
The Griffin House, WOW, what a special place.
Living on the east coast, in the middle of a pandemic, we booked TGH after only touring the venue via FaceTime. Any fears we had of booking a venue via FT immediately disappeared the moment we stepped on the grounds. The views of the Columbia River Gorge are truly breathtaking. Nothing comes close to comparing. The stunning views and natural beauty left our family & friends in complete awe.
Not only will the views leave you speechless, but TGH team is amazing. Marlowe & Angie truly cared about us and our special day. Their ability to manage my bridezilla moments with complete professionalism was so impressive. They are easy to work with, and just SO kind. Thank you, thank you, thank you to them.
If you want a venue that will leave a lasting impression and to work with an amazing team, The Griffin House is the venue for you.
Planning weddings has become more stressful than ever the past year and a half. My fiancé and I booked the Griffin House for our wedding and the pictures do not do the place justice. The views are phenomenal, we even saw an eagle soaring around while we toured the property with Marlowe. Unfortunately once Covid became more of a concern and safety mandates were strictly enforced on businesses, Marlowe explained to us the changes that would need to be made to make the event safer and compliant with state mandates and ultimately how this would effect our wedding day. We discussed with Marlowe that this was not how we originally envisioned our wedding day and she was very understanding. Though we did not end up having our wedding at the Griffin House due to covid related reasons, Marlowe was very helpful and cooperative and ensured we did not leave with a sour taste in our mouth. Overall a good experience, thanks again Marlowe!
This review has taken me some time to write due to the fact this experience has so much emotion attached to it.
Michael & I got engaged back in September of 2019. We knew from the start we wanted to start our life together in the beautiful Columbia River Gorge.
I scoped out venues sites & came across the Griffin House & was immediately intrigued.
I remember meeting Marlowe on a blistering January afternoon in 2020. The winter winds were insane. But through the fog & drizzle, my breath was taken away by the expansive view of the gorge. I couldn’t fathom the idyllic landscape, golden hour, & sunsets this venue beholds during the summer months. We couldn’t wait to book our wedding in 2021.
But that’s when life hit us. In May of 2020, Michael’s mother was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.
Michael & I were at our wits end. We did not know how much time we had left with Barbara, so we wanted to wed ASAP. We decided to reach out to Marlowe in hopes of a September date opening up since so many couples were postponing.
Marlowe replied quickly stating she had 9/19/20 available. Thus started our journey of planning a wedding in three months during a pandemic…
This was a whirlwind of an experience trying to navigate. Luckily, Marlowe guided us through the normal wedding process & researched the most up-to-date COVID regulations.
We were all set for our big day & over the moon with all our hard work. Well, life had another plan in motion. The PNW 2020 wildfires.
After a heart wrenching phone call, we were forced to cancel our wedding two days before our big day due to poor air quality conditions. Marlowe was so empathetic during this difficult time.
After having some time to grieve the loss of our “Plan B” wedding date, we decided it was time to start the process of our “Plan C”. To our great surprise, Marlowe searched out a weekend in May 2021 that was open for us to not only reschedule our wedding, but for us & our small wedding party to stay two nights at the Griffin House-completely complementary! This was beyond our expectations of a venue host.
We started planning again with Marlowe, & her newly formed team, a larger wedding for May 2021. They helped us with day-of coordination & setting layouts. It was so wonderful being able to utilize the Griffin House’s decoration & furniture inventory for our wedding. We were able to spend more of our budget on food & drink rather than worrying about renting tables, chairs, & large venue decorations. The thing about the Griffin House is that you are getting a million dollar view the moment you book this venue.
The day of the wedding was an absolute dream. Marlowe accomplished all her aspirations she set for herself back in 2020 & more. The Griffin House was completely remodeled to her liking (a natural light, neutral, boho aesthetic), her beautiful lawn staircase was lush & green, & her clear ceiling tent at the reception lawn was absolutely stunning.
This day was truly the best day for so many reasons. Despite all the misfortune we endured, we finally were able to tie the knot in the most perfect weather in front of the people we love the most. Most importantly, Michael’s mom, by the grace of God, was present with us.
I cannot thank Marlowe & her team enough from the joy & love you embraced us with. You were part of something so much bigger than Michael & I. You helped create & protect a moment in time we will hold dear to our hearts forever.
The Griffin House was AMAZING for our wedding this June! Words can't even describe how stunning the venue is. The staff were great to work with during the planning stage, especially since I was planning it myself from across the country. On the day of, Annie was a rockstar and made sure everything ran smoothly. Everyone at the wedding could not stop talking about how amazing everything was. My husband and I are so happy we chose the Griffin House for our wedding.
Having my original venue fall through 2 weeks before the wedding ended up being one of the best things that could’ve happened. Thanks to the amazing team at The Griffin House, they saved the wedding and made it ever better than I could’ve imagined. If this place is a bit over your price, let me tell you, it’s worth it. Obviously the view is stunning, but the entire property is something special. The different spots to get the view, take pictures, and enjoy drinks, the beautiful grass stairs that lead into the perfect field, and not to mention the house itself that makes the perfect place to get ready and spend a more intimate time with your wedding party.
They have a wide range of different couches, tables, and other great pieces that they allow you to style and use at no additional cost. They made our crazy last minute venue switch something manageable and worked so well with my planner and I to get things squared away fast and efficiently. The one thing I would note is that since you are at the top of the gorge and at the edge of a cliff, there can be some windy days. It kept everyone nice and cool in their wedding attire while dancing the night away, but it did cause for some crazy windblown hair in pictures. But to balance that out, there were some nice windblown hair pictures as well. They also made sure my wedding arch didn’t get blown over!
Since it took me so long to get around to writing my review, I can say that as my 1 year anniversary comes up next month, I still hear about how awesome of a location it was and how beautiful all our pictures turned out. If I could go back and do it again, I’d do it all the same. Thanks Marlowe and The Griffin House for caring to and sharing their beautiful venue!

My husband and I eloped here in August of 2020. It was not the big wedding we originally envisioned when we first got engaged, but it was BETTER! in light of the pandemic we pivoted plans and decided to do something very private to exchange vows --- and this was even better than we could have imagined!! Everything at the Griffin House is just perfect. The beautiful grounds, sweeping views of the gorge , thoughtfully decorated house. Everything. Just beyond our dreams and expectations. Marlowe was so helpful and hospitable in sharing her property, and we are so grateful that we were selected to be recipients of the elopement giveaway they were doing at the time. We have the best memories from that day, and hope to return for an anniversary trip one day!!
As many couples experienced in 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic had a huge impact on our wedding plans. With only two months remaining before our big day, we were forced to find a new venue and greatly reduce our guest list. Thankfully we found The Griffin House. Marlowe and her team came to the table with so much grace and heart during one of the most stressful times we’ve ever experienced. They helped plan and facilitate the wedding I’d always dreamed of. If you’re hoping for a wedding off the beaten path, hosted by a team of people who genuinely care to see you happy, then look no further. My husband and I absolutely cannot recommend The Griffin House enough.
After changing wedding plans 3+ times due to COVID, my husband and I feel so lucky to have eloped at The Griffin House on New Year's Eve! This is the most incredible venue in the Columbia River Gorge - hands down. Not only are Marlowe and her team a joy to work with, but they also made our decision to pivot wedding plans enjoyable (crazy, right?!) The house is so cozy and the views are spectacular. Can't recommend this venue enough.
The Griffin House turned out to be the most beautiful venue for our mini-wedding/elopement! This was originally my dream venue for the BIG wedding...but then 2020 and long story short Marlowe and her team were wonderful in helping us plan a small ceremony in less than a month! They were extremely flexible with vendors, the views were so jaw-dropping we really didn't need to do more with decor, and the home itself held a light-filled bridal suite and a fun den for the groom (and our wedding parties if we had them). I think we had less than 20 guests and our late afternoon ceremony felt so relaxed and just right. Thank you Griffin House!!
My husband and I were lucky enough to elope at The Griffin House this summer, after our original wedding plans were cancelled due to COVID. We LOVED it. Probably the best view of the Columbia River in the Gorge. Marlowe and her team were so easy to work with. Would highly recommend!
We got Married! My now husband and I fell in love with The Griffin House the moment we stepped onsite and knew it was our venue. Marlowe and her team were simply outstanding. We toured, scheduled, and planned our mirco-wedding in under 8 weeks. Our dreamy wedding of under 20 people, on the Columbia River Gorge was more than we could have hoped for. This even included last minute changes to secure a weather protective spot, which reflected the intimacy of our special day. Marlowe was wonderful to work with and was willing to customize a package which included an overnight stay and space for our two dogs-of-honor. Despite the PNW downpour, mud, and wind, we wouldn't have had our day any other way. Thank you, TGH for making memories that will last a lifetime.🥰
My husband and I got married here in July amidst the chaos of the pandemic. Rolling with the punches, we rearranged the entire wedding just 2 weeks beforehand to create an intimate and completely outdoors experience. The Griffin House was a wonderful place to do this. The venue was not only the "iconic northwest wedding" my husband wanted, but it was within our budget due to the pandemic discount (thank you team Griffin!). Additionally, Marlowe Griffin helped to organize the vendors in our time crunch and coordinated with them on the wedding day; she even went above and beyond and helped to pick up/drop off some extra items needed the day of. We are incredibly thankful for the opportunity to have come together with our closest family and friends here. And everyone agreed it was an epic view.
The only two things I would caution for wedding planning are: have a back up plan for the elements (our day happened to be particularly windy, but fortunately we didn't have to battle the Oregon rain) and the bees when the food came out...didn't see that one coming. :)
I would whole heartedly recommend getting married here, and hope to someday come back and do an anniversary gathering.
I can't recommend the Griffin House enough! My husband and I were struggling to figure out how to make our wedding day special when covid-19 complicated our initial plans, and The Griffin House really helped us find a silver lining in all the mess. The property itself is beautiful, the view of the Columbia Gorge is (of course) breath-taking, and the house was cozy and perfect for us to get ready in.
Marlowe & the rest of the team were fantastic- they were professional, responsive, and gave us the space we needed on our special day.
While our wedding was necessarily intimate, I can imagine that this venue would be perfect for much larger parties, as well.
The Griffin House is an absolutely amazing place to get married! After three venue changes, we were fortunate enough to book the Griffin House about two and half weeks out from our wedding date (third times a charm)! Marlowe and team are GREAT to work with. I had my own wedding coordinator. With the the Griffin House team and our coordinator we worked with, we had like 4 people managing the day and how it flowed. I am a planner. During the whirlwind before our wedding, Marlowe helped plan such an amazing day. She writes everything down and makes sure it happens! She was always a text away and responsive with anything that came up during the planning process. She even coordinated with our photographer the week before so they could tour the venue to find all the great photo spots.
If you and your partner to be are only considering venues with a view of Mt. Hood in the background, seriously reconsider and just go tour the Griffin House right before golden hour. You get an amazing view all evening long and all of our guest were blown away. Our day flowed around the property from cocktail hour, to the ceremony, then to dinner, and rounding out the evening with more mingling and games.
Additionally, they put every effort they possibly could to make sure all of our guests were safe. During these times the actions they took to make sure everything was consistently cleaned and spaced provided such a peace of mind. All day, I could finally focus on my husband, myself, and our relationship.
I cannot express enough in words how amazing our experience was.
The Griffin House is truly the venue where dreams come true! Our original wedding venue cancelled on us after an already postponed date due to covid, Marlowe and The Griffin House came to the rescue and we were able to plan a wedding within a month! They were the most understanding, easy to work with, prepared and organized team. Not to mention the location is absolutely beautiful. Angie and Marlowe made the day of completely stress free, even with wild fires on the horizon and were willing to go above and beyond to work with our wedding vendors and coordinate everything from rental arrivals to day of setup. Our day was truly amazing and we are still in disbelief in how beautiful everything turned out!
We just got married at the griffin house a few days ago and I couldn’t be more happy with how the day turned out! Marlowe was so great to work with, she was so kind and genuine. She made wonderful suggestions that really tied everything together in such a nice way and helped me steer clear of things shes seen not work well in the past. She walked me though the whole process and answered my million questions along the way. She was incredibly flexible and easy to work with. Her and her team set up an absolutely beautiful reception and made sure everything was where it should be. They accommodated everything we wanted and more. I highly recommend checking them out!
Marlowe & team,
Thank you so much for making our day better than we could have imagined đź’ś
My now Husband and I are forever grateful for The Griffin House and their staff. The moment you pull into the venue, you are in a stylish Oasis. Not only is the house and grounds breathtaking, Marlowe and her team paved the way for us to make our day more magical than we could have ever dreamed.
Due to Covid-19, like countless other events, our wedding plans had changed. The best choice we ever made was contacting The Griffin House for elopement/very small wedding options. From then on, The Griffin House crew took us under their wing, and helped us plan a last minute ceremony/reception with 14 of our closest family members. They even offered us a complimentary stay! As newly weds we got to wake up on our first day as husband and wife to the gorgeous views of the Columbia Gorge and it’s peaks; a few of which we’ve climbed together.
We can’t say enough on how professional, flexible, and welcoming the staff was to work with. The Griffin House took such good care of us and our families! We’ll always hold that day so close to our hearts.
We had our wedding here on June 14, 2020 on the most beautiful, dreamy day. As a bride who toured half a dozen venues throughout the Hood River/Mt Hood area, I can tell you with certainty that you won't find another reasonably-priced, beautiful, go-with-the-flow venue. Marlowe managed to ensure we had a perfect, stress-free day in the midst of a global pandemic. Though smaller than we anticipated, our wedding was seamless and everything we dreamed of.
The second best part to the wedding day -- staying at the house the night before! My bridal party had SO much fun in this old, homey venue. After decorating the house with balloons and champagne, we baked pizza, sat around the fireplace to a spectacular view and played games. At night, we each had our own incredibly soft bed to sleep in before the big day. I want to go back already!
All that to say, The Griffin House is wonderful and I would highly recommend having your wedding here. You won't regret it!
Our daughter was married on June 14, 2020 at The Griffin House. She was originally supposed to be married there in April, but COVID forced her to reschedule. Marlowe from The Griffin House was so incredibly understanding and sympathetic through all of that process and worked to help our daughter be able to make her wedding still happen in June. Sadly, regulations from COVID required us to only have about 25 people total present, including the wedding party. Marlowe went above and beyond trying to help us still make our event amazing. She helped us to live stream the wedding on Zoom so that all of our family and friends could still share in the experience from the safety of their homes. She acted as a wedding coordinator to help us all get down the aisle and worked with the caterers for a smooth reception. She even allowed the bridal party a special perk of staying in the house the night before since the wedding ended up being on a Sunday. The bridal party loved that! Now let me tell you the best part...THE VIEW! The scenery from The Griffin House is so gorgeous! What a breath taking view from the spot where our daughter and son in law said “I do!” The photographs were amazing. We could not have been any happier with this venue. From the excellent customer service from Marlowe and her staff to the amazing views...I highly recommend The Griffin House. Thank you Marlowe for helping our daughter have her dream wedding! It ended up being such an intimate affair ❤️
The Griffin House was the perfect venue to show off the Gorge in a unique, breathtaking, expansive yet intimate setting. It is unlike any other venue in the area with its charm and versatility. Marlowe and The Griffin House team stepped in when our previous rehearsal dinner venue pulled out just over 2 weeks before our event. Marlowe made the entire process smooth, easy, and delightful, even in an expedited timeframe — guiding virtual tours, provided incredible local vendor recommendations, and being the on-site expert to make the best use of the space and guide other vendors before and on the day. Her team went above and beyond to solve every potential problem and we’re so grateful for their compassion and attention to detail. Our family and friends were STUNNED by the beauty of the space -- DO NOT miss out on this gorgeous gem of a property and unique event space for your next Birthday, Rehearsal Dinner, or any celebration, covid style or otherwise.
My now husband and I went and looked at The Griffin House a month before our wedding day (we got engaged and married all within one month). After meeting Marlowe, seeing that view and the house (it has this sweet little light drenched sun room) we knew it was our venue. We fell absolutely in love with it. The view couldn't get any better, the best in the Gorge! The river, the mountains, and how they warmly join together, the vineyard, and the railroad all magically framed with the coolest tree in the world! The Griffin House is just spectacular. In every way. Marlowe, Brandon and Claire are amazing, warm, helpful & generous and were exactly what I needed on my big day. I couldn't have asked for more. They exceeded my expectations on every level. We absolutely LOVE The Griffin house & couldn't be happier or more pleased with our decision!
The Griffin House was the perfect venue for my son's wedding.
The grounds and views are absolutely stunning; the owner was thoughtful, kind and accommodating and the location is easy to find and convenient. Can't say enough good things about The Griffin House and our experience there...It was magical and enchanting.
We married this past August and The Griffin House was magically beautiful. I wish I could post a picture with this review! They have a beautiful house that is big enough for both the bride's and groom's parties to ready themselves, and the wedding is held outside on their surrounding landscape, full of gorgeous wind-swept rocks, cliff-sides, green lawn, and trees framing the view of the river below. Truly amazing!
The hosts were easy to work with and very responsive. I would marry there again (kidding!), and have a date next week with my engaged friend, at which I'll be recommending The Griffin House.
The Griffin House was a beautiful setting on the Columbia Gorge, for our wedding “Celebration” party. The owners went above and beyond... the extra mile, if you will to make this event special and perfect for not only us, but also our guests.
We could have improved on anything, nor on any aspect of this venue.
Both the building and the grounds were immaculate, well maintained, clean and a beautiful place to view and breathe in the natural beauty of the Columbia Gorge.
We are looking forward to another reason to host a party at The Griffin House.
I officiated a wedding at The Griffin House a few weeks ago, and the Griffin family could not have provided a more generous, welcoming, and fun experience.
What I loved about the house:
- Well-decorated, unique architecture, and spacious
- Had plenty of common areas and private spaces (perfect for the large wedding party with lots of family & friends)
- Kitchen/living room - nice and big, open plan - nice to have on wedding day while getting ready
- Lovely light - huge windows all over the first floor
What I loved about the grounds:
- THE VIEW - you really have to see it to understand how beautiful it is
- There is a little stone patio/hearth where I married the couple that was perfect for the ceremony - at the head of the plush green lawn and overlooking the gorge - photos are great
- Parking - plenty of space
- Fun stuff - there's a seesaw, rope swing, and a cadillac partially submerged into the ground - fun to look around
- Large space for a tent - the couple rented a big tent and there was plenty of space for the tent + food setup
What I loved about the Griffins: Claire (mom) and Brendan + Marlowe (kids) love the space so much and want to share that with everyone who gets married there. They are warm, creative, and thoughtful in every interaction, and the wedding was amazing because of the work they put in. I love that this is a locally- and family-owned business
What I didn't like: NOTHING!! this was an amazing wedding, so glad The Griffin House exists so that it could facilitate an amazing night for my friends.
Your search for the perfect, most picturesque wedding venue in the Portland area ends here.
I had the privilege of attending a family wedding at The Griffin House in September 2019. The stunning natural landscape overlooking the Columbia River Gorge was matched only by the warmth that exuded from Claire and Marlowe, the venue proprietors and mother/daughter behind-the-scenes team.
The layout of the ceremony space is an Instagram dream, except that photos cannot do it justice. We watched my cousin and his bride make their wedding vows on a cliff overlooking the bluest water, with mountains as far as the eye could see. It took my breath away. The reception space was set up and waiting for us, on the outdoor level below. The night had this fairy-tale, dreamlike quality to it. Every corner I turned, there was another secret to discover - from the rope swing on a tree, to the hidden back area made complete with a bonfire and all the accoutrements for s’mores, to the fire dancer(!!) performance Claire booked especially for the occasion. Claire and Marlowe know Hood River inside and out, and their vendor selection is to be trusted. The lighting, the trees, the gorgeous little statues throughout the property – everything felt curated in such a way that you’re swept away for the night from whatever reality you arrived here from. Even the sunset was perfectly timed. I wouldn’t have put it past Marlowe and Claire to have choreographed that, too.
This was my first trip to Portland and to Hood River, and The Griffin House left a lasting impression. I would return here in a heartbeat, to explore the venue’s other offerings – their concerts and other special events. This place is a true hidden gem.
This is one of the most picturesque venues in the entire Pacific Northwest. Their staff's organization and hospitality are unmatched. This venue could double their prices and would still be worth it.
The Griffin House truly is the most incredible wedding venue, and I feel so lucky to have gotten married there last Saturday! I had been to The Griffin House several times before for their summer concerts, and knew even before I was engaged that I wanted to get married there. It was even better than I could have imagined! The Griffin House team - Marlowe, Brendan, and Claire – were very responsive to all my questions and were genuinely excited to help make it the perfect day. I chose to forgo having a full wedding planner (although a day-of-coordinator was super helpful), and they gave me great suggestions for rentals, catering, transportation, etc. to help me create my unique vision. They communicated regularly with my rental company to answer all the little questions about the property I didn’t know, which I really appreciated. I also loved that we could get ready at the house! The bridal party had so much fun getting ready on the main floor, while I know the men were having a blast downstairs. Throughout the wedding day Marlowe and Brendan did a great job helping my day-of-coordinator navigate all the little details and they both checked in on me to see if I needed anything! Everything went smoothly day of and I never once felt stressed, and at the end of the night, multiple guests came up to me saying it was the best wedding they had ever been to!
We had our ceremony and reception at the Griffin House this September and the whole evening was really magical, all thanks to Marlowe, Brendan, Coby, and their team. Professional, responsive, and so helpful filling in the little details that we never would have thought of.
The venue has arguably the best view in the entire gorge, it's nestled on a cliff that you wouldn't otherwise be able to get to, it's a unique view that instagram or the many wonderful hikes in the area just doesn't get to see. It feels like you are thousands of miles away from everything, yet only 40 minutes from PDX airport. Seeing all our guests drop their jaws after seeing the view was a real joy for us.
We didn’t have too many bells and whistles for our wedding, but the planning process was made incredibly easy thanks to their team, who was extremely responsive to all of our (many many) questions, which I truly appreciated since I don't live in Hood River, and this was my first (and last) wedding. If you’re looking for a classic space with stunning views and a seamless experience, I would highly recommend the Griffin House for your wedding or event! My friends and family said it was the best wedding they had ever been to, I know yours will say the same thing.
"My wife and I had our wedding here on June 28th 2019 and it was the most amazing experience ever. First off, the venue is incredible and has the most spectacular views of the Gorge. Secondly, clients are treated as friends here. My family and I felt like we really got to know Claire and Brendan who were extremely attentive and kind. It was clear that they wanted us to have the best experience possible and made sure we were comfortable. Last but not least, everything went very smoothly (from a business perspective) from start to finish. They are very professional and communicate clearly what they expect from their client. My wife and I are super excited to go back some time soon to rent it as an Air bnb. I would highly recommend the Griffin House to anyone looking to have an wedding in Hood River! Thank you GH!"
The Griffin House has the most breathtaking view looking down the gorge that I've ever seen. Claire, Brendan and Marlowe (the venue managers) were delightful to work with. They were very responsive, professional, and genuinely cared about making our day special for us. I am so grateful to them for their hospitality and sharing the beautiful Griffin House with us!
I had the pleasure of shooting a wedding at The Griffin House last week and I couldn't be more blown away. All I could think about was how I wish I knew about this place when I was planning my wedding! First off, the scenery is like none other and all the guests and vendors were in awe. This venue worked perfectly for the couples' wants and needs for a casual, outdoor summer wedding without a strict structured timeline and freedom for guests to roam and take in the sites. I hope to have the privilege of shooting at The Griffin House in the future!
This review is long overdue, however I also felt compelled to write and share my own very positive wedding experience with The Griffin House.
It was simply stunning to say our vows outside with the Columbia River Gorge as our backdrop. The property is spacious--it rambles--there is room for kids to play, for croquet, for tables to be set up, for catering to do their work, for the band to play and for your friends to dance. There is ample parking and the venue is especially convenient for folks traveling from Portland and arriving via I-84.
The house itself was a wonderful retreat for us, the wedding couple, and our immediate family. It's quirkily elegant, the kitchen is large and well-equipped and the bedrooms and bathrooms spacious and bright.
Loved the owner--she had helpful advice on how best to set up for the wedding followed by partying and dancing.
Highly recommend this place for an unforgettable wedding in The Gorge.
