We recently had our wedding at the Harold Pratt House and it was absolutely beautiful. The space was stunning with the perfect backdrop for photos, cocktail hour, dinner and dancing. Our guests loved the elegant, classic New York vibe and everybody was very excited walking through the different rooms. The venue was exactly what we were looking for and we were so happy to work with Erica and the team at the Harold Pratt House.
Big thank you to Erica and her team who were so attentive, organized, and responsive in regards to all of our inquiries. It was truly a pleasure working with such an amazing team.
If you’re looking for a beautiful space in NYC with historical speak-easy vibes, this was a dream location. Everything about this venue, from the entrance, to the ceremony room exudes classic NY. It was truly the perfect space to accommodate our party of 105 people. This was an excellent location in NY for an amazing value. We were so happy and fortunate to have our wedding here and would highly recommend this stunning venue!
We hosted our wedding at The Harold Pratt House and the entire experience was amazing. The staff is incredibly helpful and the venue is beautiful. I highly recommend holding an event there.
Given that the choice of venue was one of the most important decisions for us in planning our wedding we did extensive research including visiting five venues in person and looking at several more venues online. In the end we could not have done better than in selecting the Harold Pratt House (HPH) which is a beautiful mansion build in 1919, located on Park Avenue and East 68th street.
Pros:
1. Understated Elegance And Class: This is somewhat subjective but we immediately fell in love with the styling, layout and grandeur of this venue. It combined elements from the Great Gatsby era of the 1920s along with an understated warmth and elegance. Importantly, the HPH is beautifully maintained and thus one gets to experience an air of old world charm while also enjoying a perfectly renovated and maintained space.
2. Layout: For our wedding this venue had the perfect layout consisting of six different rooms, three each on the first and second floor. This helped create various different sub-events throughout the evening. This layout helped the venue feel like a grand home into which guests were invited to enjoy a special evening.
3. Contact At Venue: Our point of contact at the venue was April who we also hired as our day of coordinator. She was an excellent guide and mentor to us throughout our wedding planning process. We literally had hundreds of questions for her over a five month period, which she very patiently answered. April was both fun to work with and highly competent and having her on our team greatly improved our entire wedding experience from start to finish.
4. Cost: The HPH was the lowest cost of the five venues we looked at in person. Our budget allowed us to pick any of the five venues we saw and thus it is rare to find what in our opinion is the best option at the lowest price. This is even more so given that the HPH throws in a ton of furniture for free which at the other venue we would have spend several thousand dollars in renting. This includes a large number of chairs, tables and couches which can be used both for the ceremony and reception.
5. Extra Features: The venue had two large and private rooms, one each for the bride and groom to get ready in which we appreciated.
Cons:
1. Size: This venue works best for a guest count of 150 people or less. If you have a larger wedding than this may not work as well for you.
2. Vendor Options: Given how beautiful the space at the HPH is, it is understandable that the venue has a short list of around 12 approved caterers who can work here. Caterers not on the list can get approved but we stuck to the list and were very happy with the outcome. For other vendors, they do not need to be on an approved list though they each need to have adequate liability insurance.
Any questions?
We selected Harold Pratt House & Peterson Hall for its immense charm and old world elegance. There is very little like the Harold Pratt House in New York City. The buildings interior and exterior are flawlessly maintained. For us, major perks include being able to select your own vendors (catering, floral designer, lighting etc) and not having to vacate the building at an exact time (the base rental is for 6 hours but you can extend). Being able to move through the buildings as if it were a private home created a flow to our wedding which kept the energy and excitement up all night. The venue's event staff is the proverbial icing on the cake. We worked very closely with April S. throughout the planning process. She is responsive, wildly helpful, and thoughtful. We could not have been happier to discover Harold Pratt House.
After checking out many wedding venues in the Tri-State Area, my fiance (now husband) and I knew from the moment that we walked into The Harold Pratt House that it was the venue of our dreams! In fact, we loved the Pratt House so much that we planned our entire wedding, which was on September 29, 2018, around the availability of the Pratt House. We were in trustworthy and professional hands with April from the day of our tour throughout the wedding planning process to the day of our wedding. April was always just a phone call or email away to answer our questions and reassure us when we became stressed. April and the rest of the team at the Pratt House truly went above and beyond to make our wedding day a special, memorable, and unique day for ourselves and our guests.
On the day of our wedding, the Pratt House looked stunning and our guests couldn't stop raving about our choice of venue. I was particularly blown away, as were our guests, of the Pratt House library as a cocktail hour space (which I highly recommend). Working with the Pratt House staff and our vendors (many of whom were recommended by the Pratt House), we were able to personalize the space to fit our travel themed wedding by adding unique floral arrangements and centerpieces and add sentimental touches to the space.
We were blown away by the Pratt House, as were our guests. I cannot recommend The Harold Pratt House highly enough if you are looking for a wedding venue with personality and class, where you and your guests will feel at home.
We knew this was the place the minute we saw it. It's located on a gorgeous tree lined street of brownstones between Park Avenue and Central Park. The interior is stunning and requires very little outside decor. We brought almost nothing in but some candles and greenery for centerpieces. They provide tables and chairs for the reception and ceremony, no need of outside lighting because they are all on dimmers. I also liked their choice of catering, lots of choices in a range of prices. April Sherwin was the person I communicated with during the process and also my day of coordinator. She is excellent. On top of everything and always quick with a an answer. I don't think there is a better place to have a chic very New York wedding in a pretty affordable venue (for New York).
We had our wedding at Harold Pratt House in Oct 2017 and it was absolutely perfect. We had the ceremony, reception and our family/bridal party photo shoot all on-site. The venue is stunning and the flow for the evening was exactly what we had hoped for - the entire night felt like a 1920s Manhattan dinner party complete with drinks in the library, dinner in the ballroom and dancing the night away.
And when it comes to wedding coordination, April is one of the best. We were so lucky to have worked with her both as our venue point-of-contact and as our day-of wedding coordinator. She was an absolute pleasure to work with in the planning stages - responsive, knowledgeable, organized and friendly. And when it came time for the day of, she remained poised and on schedule, taking the reins of our well planned day and executing it flawlessly. Additionally, she worked amazingly well with all of our other partners, especially our caterer and DJ, and she made everyone feel like one team, including the bridal party and our family. We can’t compliment April enough - she was a huge part of making our day perfect and we highly recommend you work with her if given the chance!!!

Such a beautiful, romantic, intimate and special venue! We had the most fun, beautiful and crazy wedding. April was very helpful in organizing and helping us with anything we needed. I loved the library room as well as all the other rooms and decor. You barely need to decorate the space because it’s already so full of character
One of the best decisions we made for our wedding was to hold it at Pratt House. April and her team there were awesome. They had everything in hand and were very responsive and helpful throughout the planning process. The space had exactly the classic New York vibe we wanted, and looks gorgeous in all of our photos. I was worried about a progressive event where people had to move from one room to the other for ceremony > cocktails > dinner > dancing, and what that would mean for our timeline, but we stayed totally on schedule. And I think it was a little fun for guests to have a change of scenery and experience rooms being flipped etc. I can't recommend Pratt House enough!
The Harold Pratt House is a gorgeous historical multi-room mansion on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. It has old world New York charm and beautifully decorated rooms. Not only is the venue fairly priced, it also comes with a fair bit of furniture so you don't have to spend extra to rent chairs for the reception and ceremony if you choose to have both on the premise. They also provide uplighting and AV services as add-ons. My husband and I worked with April Sherwin, who was always super responsive and helpful. All our guests were exclaiming what a wonderful and beautiful space HPH was and photographed beautifully!
We had the best time at the Harold Pratt House for our wedding in June. April was a dream to work with -- incredibly responsive and kind from day one. We didn't interact with many others, but the coordination team we hired and all of our vendors seemed to slip seamlessly into the Pratt House operations. The spaces are so well maintained, incredibly beautiful, and were the perfect setting for our wedding. There truly isn't a better place for a classic New York city affair with old world elegance and architectural drama. We loved the progressive style of the party -- moving from room to room as the night progressed. It was really special and made for a different sort of wedding, while allowing the flexibility to have traditional elements alongside the not-so-traditional. We are so grateful to April and her team for their help in creating a magical celebration for us. Would recommend this venue wholeheartedly.
Our wedding was at the Harold Pratt House, and we couldn’t have imagined a better location! We didn’t want a ballroom, and we wanted to have a more intimate wedding. The Harold Pratt House was the perfect location. We loved that we got to use multiple rooms in a historic mansion. Our guests commented on how beautiful and sophisticated every room is. Our day-of-coordinator April was excellent as well. She went above and beyond before and during the wedding to ensure that our event was perfect. I sent her dozens of emails and she always responded within 24 hours or less. She also provided great advice, and was invaluable during our planning process. We highly recommend the Harold Pratt House and the coordinating services they offer!
We had our wedding at Harold Pratt and Peterson Hall May 13th, 2017. We worked with April throughout our planning process and had a wonderful experience! We had a short engagement (5 1/2 months) and April was on top of things every step of the way. She allowed us to come by the venue multiple times and with various family members throughout the planning process. We wanted to bring the grandparents by so they knew the general flow of the evening since we utilized every room in the house.
We had our ceremony in the smaller ballroom upstairs, cocktail hour downstairs, a seated dinner in Peterson Hall, and then went back upstairs to the smaller ballroom for dancing. The library was utilized as a space for our older guests to relax and we also served plated desserts and coffee/tea. I was worried about having a large guest count in the space (170), but the space definitely accommodated everyone! We even had a jazz trio in the center room for cocktail hour which was so elegant and got the party started earlier.
Our guests commented mostly on the elegance of the event and the unique format. The food was also incredible and was a recommendation from April. She really knows what works well in the space and which vendors do a great job. I was stress-free the entire day and we were all able to really enjoy the day. The mansion is beautiful and I would have my wedding there all over again if I could! High recommend this space if you're looking for an elegant, unique city wedding experience.
This venue is absolutely stunning, and April on their staff is one of the most responsive and helpful people we worked with throughout our entire wedding planning process. She offered advice about all aspects of the event, responded often within the hour to our questions, and led multiple walk throughs, and a rehearsal for us. I can't imagine the whole experience without her.
The space is incredible, you will have different rooms for each part of the event to break everything up, and it's in a dream location. The only thing I would warn about is that there are some hidden costs-adding an extra hour to your event, (which you might need since you are only allowed in the building at 3pm the day of), lighting, a security fee etc...so while it is worth it, the price is more than it seems up front.
We are really glad we had our wedding here overall, and our guests all commented about the beauty and splendor of the space.
We hosted our daughter's wedding with 145 guests on April 9, 2016 at the Harold Pratt House. The ceremony was held in the ballroom, cocktails downstairs in the drawing room, dinner in Peterson Hall and then dancing and dessert back in the ballroom and the library. It was perfect. While there appeared to be many "rules" to use the facility, April was very helpful navigating the "requirements" and our very professional vendors had no problem providing the necessary credentials. We used one of the Preferred Caterers who has navigated many times this unique venue and therefore recognized the challenges and opportunities, helping us to make good decisions along the way. While all weddings are "special" this unique venue made it memorable for all in attendance. The weather was not cooperative and knowing that the venue was so special and different assured us that the pictures would be beautiful even without outside shots.
We absolutely loved this space for our recent wedding. We didn't have that long between when we got engaged and married, and we're living on the West Coast and knew we wanted to get married on the East Coast where most of my family is, so my mom saw a few venues for us (once we'd narrowed it down to three through emailing and searching through websites), and Facetimed me to show me the venues. This was certainly on the more expensive side (considering once you bring in all the outside vendors), but it is a phenomenal space. April was my contact from the first email I sent, and she was always extremely responsive and professional to deal with.
After my mom toured the three venues, we knew we didn't want a traditional large wedding hall/hotel site. The Pratt House had so much class and character and was located in a beautiful location on the Upper East Side (also ended up being great for outside of Pratt House wedding photos). The nice thing about the venue (especially for us coming from the West Coast), is that we didn't need to plan a lot of other decorations other than flowers, as Pratt House is already beautiful in its own right. With Pratt House, it's a progressive venue - so ceremony is in one room, cocktails flow out of that room, dinner is served upstairs in the ballroom and we used the library adjacent to the ballroom for our buffet. Dessert and dancing were back in the downstairs rooms. The staircase is gorgeous, but there are also functioning elevators if need be. I would say, Pratt House says you can have a max of 130 guests - we had 112 and it felt very tight. I can't imagine how they would have fit 130. Not a knock against them, as we knew the layout going into it, but as our event was running a bit behind, dancing got a very limited amount of time. If the dance floor were in the middle of the dining tables, as it is at many wedding venues, this wouldn't have been an issue, as we could have started some dancing during the buffet. Again, that's not against them, but something to think of when planning your event and working with your caterer on timing.
When you book at the Pratt House, they give you a file with a list of recommended vendors who know their space. While these vendors are not all the cheapest in the city, it's nice to go with them, as they know the space and what they are and aren't allowed to do in it. They also understand the "upstairs/downstairs" dynamic the event has. I'd highly recommend using their vendors.
Overall, I'd definitely use the space again. It's in the heart of Manhattan and few places I've been to have more charm and elegance.
My partner & I just got married at The Harold Pratt House on March 26th, Saturday, and it was so PERFECT & BEAUTIFUL. We had our ceremony in the Altschul Rm, cocktails in the upstairs library, dinner in the Rockefeller Dining Rm, back downstairs for the cake cutting in the Hauser Sitting Rm, lounge in the Greenberg Rm, and DJ/Dancing back in the Altschul Rm. Everyone loved the grandeur of this magnificent Art Deco home! We had a decadent Gatsbyesque vibe with colors of gold candelabras, vases, picture frames, and white flowers throughout the 2 floor mansion. Our 80 guests said it was the wedding of the century!
I can't recommend this place enough and I'd have to give big props to April Sherwin who was our event manager from the venue. She was PERFECT from start to finish! She was VERY quick with email responses, details on what works best, super organized, professional & well put together. One of my vendors even commented during a walk through on how she was the most on the ball event mgr he'd ever dealt with. Anyone would be lucky to have her work with them! I can't thank her enough for making my dream wedding come true!
If you are looking for the PERFECT venue, this place is it!
Thanks to the team of Valerie and Beth, my wedding at the end of May at the Harold Pratt house came off as a complete success. As a surgical resident, I worried about having enough time to properly plan a wedding. With Valerie and Beth helping out, all my fears were put to rest. They were well organized and meticulous about details- each client had a binder made up and my (now) husband and I would receive timely email updates. They were able to refer us to great vendors that they had used in the past. It's five months later and we are STILL getting compliments about the drinks, the food, the band, the cake... basically it was flawless. Beth was able to be present the day of and helped coordinate the arrival of my hair and makeup team for myself and my bridesmaids. Also we had a great party bus to transport the bridal party and parents to Central Park for photos after the church ceremony. Additionally, I would like to mention that Beth went above and beyond to help out with our wedding. My sister is convinced that her maid of honor speech went so well because Beth gave her a pep talk just before. Thank you for giving us such a special day and making it stress free.
