The Hawthorns Golf And Country Club

We had our wedding and reception at the Hawthorns. We used the natural site for the wedding and had our reception in their banquet hall. Both were beautifully decorated. They were very accommodating to our needs/wants. They were very good about communication and made the whole thing easy and worry free. Our guests are still talking about how great our food was...the brisket was to die for! I highly recommend the Hawthorns.

We were so lucky they had a cancellation and we were able to have our wedding here. We worked with Erin and Emily and they were very responsive and made sure everything was perfect. We had our wedding outside and reception inside. We had rain all the way until i walked down aisle. It looked beautiful There was a wedding before ours and everyone worked very hard to get set up in a short amount of time and when I walked in to ballroom it made me cry. It was gorgeous and it was like out of a magazine. The food was amazing and our guests are still talking about it. So thank you again for making our day fabulous!❤️

Amazing venue! Loved working with Emily and Erin here at the Hawthorns! They were so friendly and were there for whatever we needed, even some decorating help! Also, they bought from us all the decorations we didn’t want/need so I didn’t have to worry about reselling them on Facebook or some other way. Great location for either inside or outside wedding. We had ours outside and the reception inside; fabulous reception hall!!

We had our wedding ceremony and reception at Hawthorne’s Country Club! It was absolutely beautiful and everything we wished it could be! We had our ceremony outside on the terrace, the reception was tented on the greens! So many great photo spots to capture. Emily and Erin were so helpful with everything.

I would recommend this venue to everyone thinking about getting married! I only had my reception here and the new staff helped me through every detail! They were so catering to my every need and gave me great insight! The food was outstanding, too! I trusted the girls to put together all my decorations and I couldn't have been happier! It was everything I could've ever wanted! They were very organized and sent me multiple updated outlines throughout the process! Our big day was a dream!

Somehow my reviews continue to be deleted. So, I'm posting again in hopes that it saves another bride from potential disaster. This venue is pretty and has great food. That is exactly what sold me. But, that is truly all that this venue has to offer. Severe lack of communication. I went through 4 point of contacts in less than a year. No one communicates internally at all so a lot of follow up's and making sure that EVERYTHING was in writing. Little to NO attention to detail. My DOC quit just prior to my wedding day but The Hawthorns failed to tell me. My rehearsal was double booked and we were rushed out of the door. People were scrambling on the day of my wedding. The cake was put in the kitchen next to the ovens. It started to melt. Then the staff refused to physically move the cake over a few feet and made my bridal party do it. Decorations did not go as planned. One example is: After vacuuming, my aisle runner was left folded in half so my entire bridal party tripped during the bridal march. My guests were to be surprised at the end of the ceremony. Instead, the staff gave the items to the guests at the beginning of the ceremony and made them do it themselves. Guests were charged for drinks during the cocktail hour. Cocktail hour was included in the package that I paid for. They threw away or lost hundreds of dollars worth of items that were to be returned to me. The day after the wedding, my bridal party was left to clean up the bridal suite. No help was offered. These are just a few issues. If this is the venue of your choice, make sure you have at least 2/3 other people outside of yourself to handle every single aspect of your wedding. Ask around and look into other reviews on this venue. I'm not the only one that had a horrible experience. I just wish I would have listened to my gut feeling.

Beautiful venue and amazing people to work with

I got married at the Hawthorns October 15, 2016 and it was absolutely beautiful! They really made everything go smoothly the day of. We worked with Abby, who seemed a little spacey, but very friendly; she made sure we had everything we could want/need throughout the day. They do food and drinks onsite, so no need for a caterer! Everything was delicious! We had the ceremony on the patio outside and the reception inside. Everything was stunning, we have received so many compliments, even weeks later on how perfect everything was!

My husband and I just got married at Hawthorns. We absolutely loved the venue. The only thing we didn't like was that they changed coordinators on use during our planning process. We loved working with Kelly in the beginning. Caroline, the new coordinator was helpful just a little spacey. Overall we had an excellent wedding and would highly recommend having your wedding there.

Working with Kelly was an absolute blast! Everything that we wanted for our special day she made happen- even the hard to get microbrew beer that the Hawthorns staff ended up driving all over the state for! All of our guests are continuing to rave about the service and food, which is saying a lot since we had some east coast food critics there! Hats off to the chef! The overall cost of the wedding was very reasonably priced for the area, we got a lot more for the minimum requirement than we would have at the other places we looked. They also included fun extras that make your wedding unique such as a micro-brew package, late night snacks, or a dessert bar. If I had to do it all over again, I would definetly chose the Hawthorns over and over!

Do NOT get married at the Hawthorns! First, they fired the wedding coordinator 2 days before my wedding. I requested a meeting with the new coordinator two separate times and they ignored me. We were promised "unlimited access to the grounds" for pictures, we were only allowed to take pictures in 2 spots and both were in full sun which is terrible for pictures. (Thankfully, I had a great photographer who made it work.) We were not allowed to wear our shoes, which looks absolutely ridiculous because my husband is a full foot taller than me. I booked the venue and reception locations from 8am to midnight, at 5:30 the wedding party (of 50+ people) for the following day showed up to rehearse. The Hawthorns allowed these people to rehearse and trample my aisle runner that was out for my ceremony (which was at 6:30) and told my guests they were not allowed to enter until my ceremony time! Then, they had the nerve to not allow them inside the building to wait and forced them to stand in the parking lot because “they were not members!” Of course, during all of this the new wedding coordinator was nowhere to be found. We ordered (and paid for) the premium bar package and were given the basic package. I asked multiple times for the correct bar to be brought out and each time I was assured that it would be fixed immediately. Well, when I went to find the wedding coordinator at 9:30 to request for the 1000th time that it be fixed, I was informed that she had left for the evening. I never had a single drink the entire evening from the bar that I paid a small fortune for. I had asked that the bartenders not accept tips because I wanted to tip them myself at the end of the night and not bother my guests with it. The bartenders left with hundreds of dollars from my guests, mainly because they began charging them $20 each for access to shots! After all of this, the one thing that I was really looking forward to was my awesome wedding cake. I learned the following day that most of my guests did not receive cake because the venue thought “it was too hard to cut.” Probably the worst thing that they did was to call my parents while I was on my honeymoon to “settle.” My parents did not pay for my wedding and should have in no way been contacted to handle this for me and my husband who saved for 2 years to pay for this disastrous wedding. The Hawthorns believed that less than $900 was worth ruining my wedding day. Believe it or not, this is only the beginning of the problems that I had with the Hawthorns. Please please do yourself a favor and get married somewhere else. I am so embarrassed of the way I and my guests were treated.

When my parents and I first met with Stephanie, the wedding coordinator at the Hawthorns, we were a little bit nervous. We left not knowing if we'd made the right decision or not, because she didn't seem overly cheerful; however, and this is a BIG HOWEVER, she did an ABSOLUTELY SPECTACULAR job with our wedding. Our DJ called her a "bulldog", because she gets things done and does it right! Our reception went off without a hitch and I think that we owe that to her. The food was great-even better than our tasting that we had before. We had many guests comment that they'd never had good food at wedding reception before! The bartenders were very friendly and made some very strong drinks (which my guests loved-haha). Stephanie and our florist also did all of the decorating, so we labeled some boxes and dropped them off to her, and everything was exactly in place when we got there. I would highly recommend the Hawthorns to anyone that wants to have a beautiful party!

Let me start by saying that my wedding reception went flawlessly, and I know a lot of that was thanks to the people at Hawthorns, who have great relationships with the vendors and make everything so easy, like me being able to drop off favors the Tuesday before the wedding, them handling all of the table linens, and just all of the details you don't normally think about, they completely take care of it. The only not perfect thing was just a little confusion with the coordinator on getting together to discuss some details, so, and this is really something you should do regardless (and I failed to!), always send a follow-up email when you think you have an appointment to make sure that person is on the same page! Never fun to drive 45 mins to find that they aren't there! Other than that, the food was really, really good, as that was a huge sticking point for me, the venue is beautiful inside and out, and again, the day-of operations could not have been more perfect! My now-husband and I did a lot of research on sites in and around Indy, and for the value, we really couldn't find anything close! Definitely not cheap, but if you're looking for something more affordable, I highly recommend Hawthorns.

It is hard to find a place this beautiful for the cost. We had our ceremony on their patio and the reception in the ballroom. The food was good, and there were a lot of gorgeous places to take pictures. The only negative is that they only have one Catering Manager, who oversees the special events and weddings. She was nice, but obviously overwhelmed. I thought I was a pretty laid-back bride, but I grew increasingly annoyed by the lack of response. She seemed to never remember anything about us or our wedding (or that we had an appointment with her). If you have a wedding planner that can work with the Catering Manager on your behalf, I would definitely recommend this venue, but if you are doing it on your own I would find a place that is willing to be a little more attentive.

We held both our ceremony and reception at Hawthorns and couldn't of been happier with the turnout. The venue itself is beautiful, Stephanie (the catering manager) is incredible, and our special day was flawless. I'd highly recommend this location!!

We had our wedding here in late May and it was everything we had hoped for and more. The Hawthorns staff was so accomodating and helpful throughout the entire wedding planning process. Stephanie, the catering/sales manager is so knowledgeable and helped to coordinate anything we needed. Any questions or concerns we had were always addressed quickly and we ended up being worry free the day of the wedding. We had an outdoor ceremony with the reception immediately following inside the beautiful clubhouse. The room where the reception is held is amazing, from the high ceilings to the open windows to the outside balcony with a view of the golf course. The food was spectacular and the signature drink they made for us was talked about for days by some of our guests! It was a hit. My husband and I would highly recommend The Hawthorns for a wedding and reception. We could have not been happier with our experience!

I fell in love with the scenery,and the food! It was an amazing experience, and it couldn't have been so without the Hawthornes!!!!! We captured the best pictures I could've ever imagined.... I would recommend this venue to anyone wanting an elegant,amazing,beautiful wedding!!!

The event manager was very nice when we first met with her, but there on after she was distant, rude, and acted as if she was too busy to answer any questions I had. She blew off meetings, rolled her eyes, gave impatient sighs.... She basically threw a professional cry baby fit. Plain and simple, I never once felt special or confident in this venue because of the service (or lack there of...)
