The Hotel at Kirkwood Center

Everything about having our wedding at the hotel was amazing. The wedding coordinator, Ande, made everything so easy and stress free for us. She walked us through every step in the planning process to ensure everything would go just how we wanted it to. The food and dessert was AMAZING and people couldn't stop talking about it. We could not have asked for a more perfect wedding and we have the The Hotel at Kirkwood Center, Ande, and all the staff to thank for that!

My husband and I absolutely LOVED having our wedding at Hotel Kirkwood! We wanted a venue where most things were included so we did not have to work with a bunch of different people. Working with our wedding coordinator, Mary, was amazing. She helped answer all of our questions and helped us create the wedding of our dreams. We wanted to have our reception at a hotel since so much of our family was coming from out of state. The Hotel at Kirkwood Center proved to be more than just an ordinary hotel. Had a wonderful wedding at an amazing venue!

Venue, wedding coordinator, and caterer, all in one! Experienced and incredibly helpful to work with. Mary and her team at the Hotel at Kirkwood Center were excellent to work with for our wedding reception. She is very experienced and really helped us plan out our wedding, including many things we wouldn't have otherwise thought about. The hotel is also an excellent venue with everything from tables to decoration. Additionally, the food was amazing and we received so many complements from our guests for the food, especially the pork ribeye, which was delicious! Due to the pandemic, we had to change our date 2-3 times and Mary and her team were consistently helpful and flexible with this pivot. Something we're very appreciative of.

Hotel at Kirkwood was an excellent venue for our wedding. It's beautiful, modern, and welcoming. There are so many different rooms for events. The staff are professional, and our guests loved staying there. The food is delicious, and they had a very helpful tasting and tour event to help us prepare. We knew we were in good hands with our coordinator, Mary. She anticipated questions that we didn't know to ask. Thank you so much!!

We were very happy to be able to host our wedding at the Hotel Kirkwood. Mary Houghton was so gracious throughout the entire planning process and the wedding itself. She advised us every step of the way and went out of her way to help us achieve our vision for our wedding. We’ve now been married 2 1/2 months and our family and friends are still talking about what a beautiful venue and how yummy the food was especially the appetizer meatballs and the steak. The servers were very fast, courteous, and helpful at every level. And I’ve had calls wanting to know where we got our wedding cake, which of course was Hotel Kirkwood. Hotel Kirkwood will always be a special place for us with such wonderful memories of a perfect wedding.

Our wedding at the hotel at Kirkwood Center was phenomenal. Mary was our event manager who helped us with planning from the beginning until the end of the wedding and she was amazing. Our guests were very impressed with how amazing everything looked, how smoothly everything went, and how amazing the food tasted. Even with our large wedding guest list of 300 people, everything still went as smoothly as it could have. We thought planning a wedding from the East Coast and having it in Iowa was going to be a nightmare, but everything worked out perfect. All of our requests for granted by Mary and made every little thing perfect. We are pleased to say that not a single thing went wrong from start to end and we are beyond grateful for such an amazing team at The Hotel at Kirkwood Center!

We would highly recommend The Hotel at Kirkwood for anyone that's looking to get the "all in one" experience to help simplify things. They were able to host the rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and reception, and then provided a place to stay for all of our guests. Mary was very thorough with the planning leading up to the day of which then allowed her and her staff to handle everything and make it easy on us. An all-around great experience.

Honestly the best decision we made for our wedding! Mary and team did amazing. From the atmosphere, to the food, to the staff it was amazing. We still have people talking about it! They did all the heavy lifting on their end which allowed my husband and I to really enjoy the day. We cannot say enough good things! Oh and students of the college are involved which is great learning opportunities for them and their future which we loved and they did amazing! Also, they took the extra extra step to put two plates of food, cake and some chocolate covered strawberries in our hotel room at the end of the night for us to eat. How amazing! Well done Hotel Kirkwood, well done!

I was first introduced to The Hotel at Kirkwood Center by attending a friend’s wedding. As a string musician, I have played in my fair share of weddings and seen plenty of venues, good and bad. The Hotel at Kirkwood Center was the first time I was impressed - from the food, the venue, and the accommodations. My husband and I chose the Kirkwood Hotel because of this and the convenience for our guests. We got to work with the Hotel not once, but twice! Due to COVID-19, our original wedding date on June 13th, 2020, was limited to 25 people, for our immediate family, and our vendors. Regardless of the situation, the Hotel went above and beyond to make our day extremely special. My husband and I decided to have a Sunday Brunch in 2021 to celebrate with our friends and family that couldn’t join us in 2020. It was an absolute joy to work with Mary VanHouten. She was extremely professional and timely. Any ideas I brought to her, she told me there would be a way to make it happen. On the day of our brunch, Mary not only makes sure everything was in order with the decorations, food, and setup, but she even made time to check in on me several times throughout the day. I never had to worry about a thing! I would highly recommend having your special day at the Kirkwood Hotel. Support the local business, the students, and the wonderful staff!

We were extremely pleased with our wedding at the Kirkwood Hotel! Mary and her team were very accommodating, made great suggestions for us, and everything ran very smoothly. We were very thankful that the hotel took care of all of the setup, food, etc as this made it very easy on us and stress free. Everyone we spoke with had a great time and was very impressed as well. We highly recommend the Kirkwood Hotel if you are looking for your wedding venue.

Oh my gosh, you have to have your wedding here! Mary is a gift from JESUS! She literally saved our wedding. Our backdrop we ordered was scheduled on the wrong date, and she did the impossible and took care of it. They didn’t even have all of the fabric in but she managed to make it looks perfect. She’s magic. I can’t thank her enough for all of her hard work and how great she was at her job. She takes the stress off of you and cares about you as a person. It made the wedding so much more special. The hotel is beautiful and the staff is amazing. The cake looked exactly like the picture I gave them. I recommend going all out and getting the chandelier and draping and doing your ceremony in the atrium because it makes all the difference in the world. Wish the photographer got a picture of the room without our cake smash pics but want to show you how beautiful everything was. Don’t hesitate. Schedule your wedding here ASAP.

Mary at the Kirkwood is a dream for anyone planning a wedding. She made our daughters wedding day - the perfect day. She took all the stress out of having a wedding by taking care of everything. I cannot say enough good things about the staff at the Kirkwood. They were the example of how things should be run. The Kirkwood offers a package that includes the rental of the ballroom, and the catering and bakery. The food and cake were out of this world. All of the guest were raving about the food and cake. Mary met with us several times over the year planning period (even during the pandemic) and asked us all of those little details that we did not even think of. The Hotel offers an airport shuttle service but they even let us use the shuttle to take the bridal party downtown for the rehearsal dinner the night before (what a fun surprise) The out of town guests complimented the shuttle service as one of the nicest experiences (Midwest nice!) The Hotel bridal suite was huge and allowed the bridesmaids plenty of room to get ready in the AM. Mary has many years of experience and a network of vendor relationships which helped us in planning our wedding vendors. Those relationships helped everything run smoothly so that there were no last minute surprises. I would highly recommend anyone planning a wedding to check out the Kirkwood. We had the wedding in the atrium and the reception in the ballroom which allowed us to have two separate spaces which was important for the bride and groom. The outdoor space at the Kirkwood was beautiful and allowed us to have outdoor pictures as well. Mary and the Kirkwood allowed us to enjoy the wedding day instead of worrying about setup/tear down, did the vendors show up, is the food replenished, how are we doing on the alcohol... All of those were just magically taken care of. We wish we could give the Kirkwood more than 5 stars.

Our wedding was PERFECT! I honestly don’t have anything bad to say about the Kirkwood hotel. Mary and the hotel staff were super easy to work with and very accommodating. I originally didn’t have my wedding reception booked here, but thanks to COVID I had to find a new place 4 months before my date. They really took the stress out of planning and preparing for the big day. P.S. The food was phenomenal!

Mary and her team are the absolute best! Our wedding ran very smoothly and they handled everything. Food was AMAZING and received rave reviews from our guests. They were also extremely accommodating for special diets. Would highly recommend to any future bride.

The staff at Kirkwood did a tremendous job of helping plan, then holding our family’s wedding. We chose Kirkwood because of the thorough process they described when we were looking at venues and the capabilities they offer. We considered event centers and other hotels, but Kirkwood stood out. The wedding had to be postponed because of Covid and they were in communication with us throughout the time giving us options. It was one of the first events held after they reopened. They helped us adapt to the protocol’s that had to be followed. Many of our guests commented about how well the event was managed and what a “safe” atmosphere it was. The food and service were excellent with numerous positive comments received from the guests. Reflecting on the entire process we can say they fulfilled and exceeded all our expectations. I have attended weddings all over the CR-IC corridor area and can safely say Kirkwood is the BEST!

We are SO pleased with how everything turned out for our wedding reception at the H@K, despite many things outside of our control! Every detail was beautiful and we received so many comments on the excellent service, food, cake, rooms, and more! The ballroom also looked absolutely stunning. We are so glad we chose Kirkwood for our wedding!

The Hotel Kirkwood did an amazing job with our reception. They worked with us and all of the changes during this pandemic. We received so many compliments on the venue, it was truly great. Mary from Kirkwood worked with us and made sure everything was exactly how we wanted it and I could not have asked for a better night! I highly recommend using this venue! Mary with Hotel Kirkwood made my wedding dreams come true. She listened to every idea I had and made it come alive. One of the main things that sold us on HK (besides the GORGEOUS) venue, was that they set up and tore down everything for us. I was stress free knowing everything was in Mary's hands. The day before the wedding we brought her all of our decorations, some in which we had no idea where it would look best or would even work. I remember on the wedding night looking around and my eyes catching those little items that she made look even more perfect than I could have ever imagined. The food was amazing, the service was prompt, and the night was one I will never forget thanks to Hotel Kirkwood.

We had the best experience at The Hotel Kirkwood. Both our wedding ceremony and reception were done there. Our wedding coordinator, Holly and her team took care of everything the day of so we could enjoy our big day with our families and friends. They helped make our day perfect!

We had our wedding reception at Kirkwood and they really are top notch. The hospitality was unlike anything I have ever experienced-it felt like a five star hotel. The staff was accommodating to our needs as well as all of our guest. Holly was absolutely wonderful to work with and was very professional through the whole process making it easier to plan a wedding. The food was phenomenal and so was the cake which was all prepared by their culinary staff. We are so happy with the way everything turned and would recommend Kirkwood to anyone either for their wedding our just to stay the night!

My husband and I got engaged mid-July and found out a couple weeks later that we were expecting our first child. We decided at the end of October that we were going to do an intimate wedding ceremony and reception for just family. The staff at The Hotel at Kirkwood Center helped make our 6 week planning period fairly easy and stress-free. Our wedding day went smoothly and everyone keeps talking about how nice the staff and space we had was. We were able to drop off all of our decorations 3 days before the wedding and were given our own storage room. We picked up our decorations the day after the wedding from the same storage room. The staff did an amazing job of setting up the decorations and I was able to check the set up before the start time to make any last minute changes (which there were very few things since I particular). We didn't do a tasting, because of timing, but the food came out really good and the service was AMAZING! We brought in the desserts from a licensed bakery and there were no issues with them being displayed, stored, and served.

Holly Webster and the staff at the Kirkwood Hotel were absolutely the best to work with!!! We were expertly guided through all the planning details, and throughout the wedding day itself. It was such a worry free/hassle free experience, as all details were taken care of and we could just enjoy the day! We didn’t have to stress about setting up or tearing down, unlike so many other venues. We were also told by numerous guests that the food served was the best wedding food they had ever had! Without hesitation, I highly recommend the Kirkwood Hotel for your wedding! We are so thankful for their expertise and efficiency. If you choose them, I know you will feel the same!

Hotel Kirkwood is amazing! Holly and her staff were wonderful to work with. She was very attentive and always willing to help out with whatever we needed. The food, decor, and people there were all wonderful! The guest rooms are also very comfortable and clean. We would highly recommend The Hotel at Kirkwood!

They make sure everything is taken care of and nothing is forgotten. They communicated with all of my other vendors and made sure everything went smoothly. Working with them took a lot off my plate!

If you highly regard quality service, this is truly your place! What drew us to Hotel Kirkwood, outside of the beautiful venue itself, was the care of the staff. The Hotel gives you a wedding coordinator to help arrange all the details for your day, and ensure that everything goes smoothly. Holly was such a joy to work with and is a big reason our day went so well. With that, the entire staff at HK is incredibly thoughtful and professional, they do such fantastic work. There are certainly other venues around the area that appear to be more affordable, but I cannot express how much we value all the service everyone at HK provided so that we could relax and enjoy the weekend Thank you Holly and everyone at Hotel Kirkwood!

I could easily write a novel from our wedding on 11/3/18, as to why Holly + the Hotel at Kirkwood team made our special day, and all the planning up to it, a dream come true! This team TRULY has world class service and excellence. From the very first meeting, we were warmly welcomed, listened to attentively, and immediately we fell in love with the beautiful, modern space. We wanted elegance and comfort for our guests all in one, and Kirkwood truly exceeded all our expectations! Holly, Mourad, Mike, the chefs, assistants and team are SO incredible to work with; as a bride, I was THRILLED to have so many options for creating a space for our guests, and to cater to our family and friends, and they immediately answered every question and met every need. I’m tearing up, as they truly feel like family now! The planning process was also fantastic, as Holly was flexible and so available to meet; we loved sharing a DELICIOUS meal and dreaming up the best day EVER! She also clarified budget questions and helped me create a fairytale within our budget scope. Last, she always made me feel like a priority, and made my experience as a bride so special. Kirkwood has SO many amenities included in their packages; the decor, uplights, linens, SET UP AND TEAR DOWN, huge variety of food choices, and more! I trusted their team to transform our ballroom and atrium, and the reveal was one of my favorite parts of the day. My husband, family and friends raved about our food, incredible service, gorgeous suites and rooms, attention to small details, our late night meals and champagne and strawberries; and the list goes on. If you are on the fence or have previous experiences in a ballroom or hotel wedding setting, Kirkwood is the absolute BEST of them all, and transformed our wedding into a beautiful, perfect day! Holly and her staff were amazing! When decorating alI I had to do was ask once and the task was done, almost before I finished asking. They went above and beyond my expectations and I can’t say enough good things about them. Oh also the food was awesome, had many guest say was best pork they’d ever had; and I know few of them were pork farmers (chicken was also yummy)! Highly recommend using The Hotel at Kirkwood for any event but especially for your BIG day-wedding. They will do anything to help make your dreams come true.

Holly was our event coordinator. She was great to work with from the beginning. She checked in to make sure I was on schedule or ensuring everything was perfect for my husband and I’s day. On the night of our wedding she took us in to see the ballroom before it opened to guests, made sure my head table and I had everything we needed, and ensured everything ran smoothly. I can’t even begin to say everything they gave to my husband, myself, parents, in-laws, wedding party and guests! They made planning easy, stress free, and perfect. The Hotel at Kirkwood is an absolute dream to get married at. It was so convenient to have the ceremony, reception and guest rooms all in one location and each of these exceeded my expectations. I didn't have to use a lot of décor because the location itself was so beautiful. The staff are friendly, helpful and professional. The food is the reason we booked at Hotel Kirkwood and we were not disappointed. The portions were perfect and everything tasted fantastic. Holly was my wedding coordinator and I have nothing but great things to say about her. She did everything for me, always there to answer my questions and made sure I was never stressed. On the day of the wedding, she was constantly checking to make sure I was ok and see if I needed anything. I had the best day, no stress and so much fun because she was there to take care of all the little details. I cannot recommend the Hotel at Kirkwood more to any future brides!

I can't say enough great things about our fabulous wedding experience at The Hotel at Kirkwood Center. Everyone was talking about how great the food was and how impressed they were with Kirkwood's ability to serve nearly 350 people a hot and great tasting meal – the food was outstanding. The people at Kirkwood are truly wonderful, notably Holly, Maurad, Chris, Kevin and Beth…..and many more. Every server was extremely polite, called us by name and did everything they could to make our event run smoothly. Kirkwood should be known as providing world-class customer service….and being a perfect place for wedding receptions. The people at Kirkwood checked on every facet of the reception from the air temperature, food, our comfort, etc. It was so fun to be treated like royalty!! We were very proud of the event and we have all of you at Kirkwood to thank.

Our daughters wedding was this past weekend (06/30/18) at the Kirkwood Hotel. We had a year to plan and visited a handful of venues, but at the point we walked into the Kirkwood Hotel and was greeted by Holly and Murad we were sold! We didn’t have an appointment yet we were given their full attention. Originally the plan was for the ceremony to be outside but as we approached their big day, the forecast was not cooperating, 100 degree heat index. Holly didn’t hesitate to put a plan together to move the ceremony into the atrium. She turned what could have been a very stressful situation into an exciting change in plans! Our family would highly recommend The Hotel at Kirkwood Center for your special event and ask for Holly Webster and Murad by name! They were nothing less than amazing!

We had the most amazing weekend celebrating our marriage at The Hotel at Kirkwood. Everything was absolutely perfect. We worked with Mary, and she ensured every detail was executed flawlessly. The convenience of being able to have our ceremony, reception, and a hotel for guests to stay at all in the same location played a large role in why we chose The Hotel at Kirkwood Center for our wedding. Mary V. was fantastic to work with from our first tour all the way to after our wedding ended. She made it easy to communicate and made sure that everything was in place for the day of. She helped contact all of our vendors and set up delivery and pick-up times for our decor, florals, DJ, etc. It was such a relief to have someone who has done this multiple times help out with all of that. She also helped us determine the best flow of events (e.g. when to do the cake cutting, dances, etc). I honestly couldn't have imagined having our wedding anywhere else now that it's all said and done. It was everything we dreamed of and the facilities are incredible. We are still receiving compliments on the food (people said it was the best they've ever had!) I would 100% recommend using Kirkwood for your wedding venue. Thanks again to the whole staff and Mary for making our day extra special!

We had both our ceremony and reception at The Hotel at Kirkwood Center and are so glad that we did. We worked with Mary VanHouten who was amazing to work with and did awesome job coordinating everything for our wedding day. She really took all the stress off of us. Everything was taken care of by the hotel and we didn’t have to worry about anything. We could really just sit back and enjoy the day. We received so many compliments from our guest about the venue and would highly recommend that you have your wedding there.

Five stars is not enough to express how much we loved the Kirkwood hotel. Mary is the best out there & the whole staff far exceeded our expectations!! Our guests loved the food, drinks, service & the venue is breathtaking. We’re so grateful for how perfect our day was because of the way we were cared for at Kirkwood.

The staff at The Hotel at Kirkwood Center was phenomenal! They were able to pull off everything we asked for without hesitation. Mary VanHouten kept in close touch with us throughout the whole planning process. We were treated like royalty during every moment we spent at The Hotel. The food was all catered by The Hotel and was exactly what we asked for and more! It was the most delicious meal, and they even had plates of food in our room for a late night snack! We are so thrilled to have had our wedding reception at The Hotel at Kirkwood Center and would recommend it to anyone in a heartbeat!!

I cannot say enough positive things about Holly and the rest of the staff at the Hotel at Kirkwood. When we visited for our initial visit, I had a few things on my list checked off already - one being the cake. Holly informed me that the Bakery on site would be doing that instead. I was turned off until I walked into the bakery and the cake baker shared her ideas with me and blew me away with it all! From there on I knew we picked the right venue as well as Hotel to stay for our guests. When we showed up for the wedding, Holly had all the details laid out and was ready to make the weekend the best ever for us! My favorite story from one of my guests was about the staff and the ways they went above and beyond. As my cousin and family were leaving on the Sunday after our wedding, they were met by an employee on the elevator. He immediately grabbed their bags and carried them all the way down to their car. That was just one example of the great lengths that the staff go through to help you. I also LOVED when I walked through the reception hall on Friday night and it wasn't even a little pulled together, I had a mini panic moment. The Reception Manager grabbed me and said, "Just wait until we 'WOW' you tomorrow! We will for sure be doing that!" And a wow they sure did! It was so amazing!! Thank you so much for all of your hard work!

Having or wedding reception at THK was the best decision we could’ve made for a venue! Such a beautiful space. We worked with Holly Webster and The whole Kirkwood team to pull together a memorable celebration of our love. They made it easy to relax on our special day and not have to worry about the ‘how’ things were getting done. We loved it. Our guests loved it, and we would recommend THK to anyone. I got married a few weeks ago at The Hotel at Kirkwood Center and everything went great! It was awesome working with Holly Webster and the whole Kirkwood Team. Everyone was very attentive to details and highly focused on providing great customer service. The team went above and beyond. The space is beautiful on its own, but I overlooked how valuable having a Coordinator (Holly) was. This team made everything stress-free. Highly recommend The Hotel at Kirkwood Center and paying attention to the team you will be working with when considering venues!

The Hotel at Kirkwood Center was the perfect venue for our wedding reception! First, the staff was incredibly professional, welcoming, and organized. Holly, our wedding coordinator, provided us with her expertise and advice throughout the entire process. We felt like we could reach out to her with any questions, and she was always willing to meet with us face-to-face. She checked in with us multiple times throughout the wedding night, too, to make sure everything was running smoothly and that we were satisfied. When we went up to our suite that night, the staff had placed chocolate-covered strawberries, champagne, and a sweet note for my husband and I to enjoy together. They thought of every little detail, including an additional dinner in our refrigerator since we had little time to eat in the midst of greeting guests. :) Second, the Hotel at Kirkwood Center is extremely beautiful. We took ample pictures within the hotel, and the cocktail hour and reception space were picturesque. Third, the food was incredible! We had many guests compliment on the savory Iowa Chops. The food tasting was also very helpful to us in deciding what food we wanted at the reception. And fourth, we loved the location, in general. The Kirkwood is set apart from other venues in its beautiful countryside location. We used the yard space for tailgating games, and guests were able to enjoy the cocktail hour indoors and outdoors. The space was beautiful. I would recommend the Hotel at Kirkwood Center for any bride and groom who are wanting to be treated as friends throughout their wedding planning process, instead of simply another couple getting married; the Hotel exceeded all our expectations.

We were so please with our daughter and son-in-law's wedding reception at the Hotel at Kirkwood Center this past September. The entire hotel staff were so professional and accommodating, and the service for the reception was outstanding! Everyone we met with at the Hotel, throughout the planning process, expressed genuine interest to help make our event all that we desired. We are so glad that we chose this venue over others in the area, and have received so many wonderful compliments about our special occasion. A big thank you to all at the Hotel at Kirkwood Center!

The Kirkwood hotel did a wonderful job! As they set up and take down all decorator! They do a wonderful job making sure everyone is very well taken care of. I give them a 4 star because as the night got late and both managers were gone some of the staff didn't really know what was going on. Other wise all went well.

The Hotel Kirkwood could not have done a better job. I had the pleasure of working with Holly and she knew exactly what she was doing and made the planning processes for our wedding so much easier (I had the reception at the hotel). The hotel does all of the set up and take down of décor and gives you a room to bring it all in so that you don't have to worry about it on the big day. The food, let me tell you, the food is amazing. Another perk is that your guest have somewhere to stay without having to drive, and the rooms/hotel is very nice. If anyone ever asks me where to have an event I would tell them Hotel Kirkwood. I did not have one worry on the day of my wedding and was waited on hand and foot by the Hotel Kirkwood.

Simply amazing. I would book my reception here again and again. The Hotel at Kirkwood took care of EVERY detail and were helpful throughout the entire process. They were able to accommodate everything that we wanted with ease. They checked in on every detail and made sure that there were no surprises the day of. The complimentary room was amazing! The staff left us two full meals, my favorite wine, some cake and a super sweet note! The room was beautiful and was such an amazing way to end a fun day. Everything went off without a hitch. AMAZING place.

The service this venue provided for our wedding was way beyond expectations. The coordination between all of the vendors went through the hotel and took so much potential stress away from the planning. The food they provided was by far the best catering I have ever had. They even setup and take down the couples decorations. The best thing, however, about this venue was the friendliness and level of service provided by every single staff member. The phrase "World class hospitality starts at The Hotel at Kirkwood," stated every time they pick up a phone call is 100% true. 10/10 would highly recommend to any couple looking for a wedding ceremony and/or reception venue.

The Hotel at Kirkwood was such a beautiful venue for our wedding reception! Every time we visited the facility the staff was warm, welcoming, and accommodating. The ballroom was large enough to fit our 330 guests comfortably and everyone loved the cocktail hour in the atrium- talk about a beautiful space! The food was excellent and the cake & cupcakes were beautiful, exactly what we wanted. I really enjoyed being able to do a free food tasting so my husband and our family members were able to sample a variety of options before deciding on our meal for the evening. Our wedding coordinator was Mary VanHouten and she was always very energetic when working with us. We met with her three times before the wedding to review our plans for the day of and to make sure the wedding went smoothly. Mary always had good things for us to think about that we hadn’t thought to plan which was super helpful for an inexperienced event planning bride! The only hiccups when working with The Hotel at Kirkwood was when a second event was almost booked the morning of our wedding day, however Mary called me to see my thought on the decision and it was decided that would not work out for our event in the evening (we were doing all our own decorating and needed time to set up the ballrooms). The only other thing I would change would be trying to get plastic cups at the reception once the dance floor starts to fill up- not a big deal for non-wedding events here, but something I would recommend other brides having a wedding here to push for as a safety precaution for guests dancing. Other than that, the day went so smooth. The Hotel at Kirkwood was so thoughtful in doing extra little things that really just pushed our stay over the top and made us really feel like they cared about us having the best experience with them. The space is also handicap accessible and has two bathrooms right next to the ballrooms so you don’t have to walk through the hotel to reach them. There is also a huge parking lot for guests to park in for those not staying at the hotel so parking was never a concern for us. Small things that make a huge difference when accommodating family members for a wedding! We would definitely recommend this space to anyone looking to have a hotel wedding reception, it’s a hidden gem on the outside of Cedar Rapids that your wedding guests will love!

Everyone and everything went smoothly from start to finish. Everyone was helpful, kind, easy to work with from the catering manager to the front desk staff. Mary and all the staff go above and beyond to make everything special and free from stress. The venue is beautiful and the food is delicious. We are still getting compliments on everything! I highly recommend HK for your wedding and/or event.

We had our reception at the Kirkwood Hotel and it was amazing! Their staff was so supportive and easy to work with. One of my favorite parts was that I did not have to lift a finger for set up or tear down! When comparing costs with other vendors and the number of guests we had the price was pretty comparable as well.

We cannot thank the staff of The Hotel at Kirkwood enough for everything they did for our wedding reception. All of our guests were impressed by the how well organized the evening was and beautiful the venue and decorations were. It was the beautiful day we always dreamed of and really was the best day of our lives. Our friends and family members are still commenting on how great everything was - from reservations, check in, guest rooms, Class Act/Maikka food, drinks, and service, to the reception décor, food, and service. Even the next day the help from the Hotel staff couldn’t be beat; we would have spent all day loading up everything without them. Holly at Kirkwood was a Rockstar for us! She made sure we were always well taken care of, and managed all of the little details so we could enjoy the celebration. We had nothing but positive feedback from our guests!

If we had the opportunity to re-do our wedding day, we would choose Hotel at Kirkwood a million times over. I cannot imagine planning the wedding without the help of Mary VanHouten - she had EVERY detail thought out, down to asking our officiant which kind of microphone he preferred! My husband and I were so blown away by how hospitable all of the staff were - from being greeted at the front door, checking in, turn down service, and of course everyone who helped us out on our big day (special shout out to Mourad!). We received countless compliments regarding the food and how gorgeous the venue was (even though we had very little of our own decorations brought in). The best part is the staff & students handle EVERYTHING - from set up to tear down and will change or move anything you don't love. I had many people ask me if I was nervous about students playing such a big part in the wedding day, but honestly we found the students worked SO much harder! We are SO happy we chose the Hotel at Kirkwood, and already talk about future visits to celebrate our anniversaries.

Absolutely the best decision we made while planning our wedding was choosing Hotel Kirkwood for our wedding venue. The staff were over the top friendly, professional, accommodating, and easy to work with. Holly was fantastic as our event coordinator and took so much stress off of the planning process. She is experienced in wedding planning and was able to help us with a lot of the questions about when, where, how, etc. that just comes with knowing and doing weddings. We could not have asked for a better, venue, food, atmosphere, or staff to work with. We would chose Hotel Kirkwood again in a heartbeat!

Our daughter and son-in-law were engaged on November 1 and wanted a winter wedding. We immediately booked at Kirkwood for many reasons, but the original reason was the hotel at their venue to avoid travel after the reception. Little did we know the many other reasons that I would recommend Kirkwood. Their hotel manage,net program, along with their culinary and pastry school, are fantastic and the students are well trained. Our wedding coordinator, Mary, was fantastic and I knew everything would be taken care of so we could just enjoy the day. My brother- in - law tried to see what kind of mattress and bidding was in the room, he liked it so well. The beautiful atrium was a beautiful setting with full glass wall to the outside before moving into the ballroom for dinner and dancing. ********** 5 star is not enough!

The Kirkwood Hotel was the perfect choice for our wedding reception! We planned our wedding long distance, and they accommodated our needs every step of the way. The staff working our event was very professional, food was great, ballroom was set-up beautifully, and everything was run flawlessly. We would recommend this venue to anyone looking for the perfect location for their special day.

I absolutely LOVED Hotel At Kirkwood for our wedding! The hotel is gorgeous, the rooms are beautiful, it is all very impressive! Everything was perfect, Holly made sure everyone was comfortable and had they everything they needed throughout the day. She also made sure everything ran on time, she took care of any issues that arose (without me even knowing), and made sure the day was perfect!

We had everything here: the rehearsal, ceremony, reception, and Sunday brunch. The hotel is fantastic! Our guests loved the hotel and everyone complimented the food. Renting the venue was actually cheaper than some other options in CR, but the food is expensive. However, the food you get is superb and they offer many choices. You can even customize what you would like (we changed the side on an entrée). On the day of, they did mix up which side went with which entrée and their cheese fountain didn't work, but they refunded us a little for that. The staff is great to work with and very friendly. At our request, they offered a shuttle for our guests to the farmers market downtown for a small fee. The only complaint I have is that the communication was lacking until about a week before our wedding. The staff set everything up for our wedding and did a great job (I didn't tell them exactly where to put all the décor). On the Wed before our wedding, we were able to bring all of our décor to the hotel. After the reception, they cleaned the entire room and put our décor into a smaller room until we could get it out on Sun. Their coordination really helped me be stress-free on our actual wedding day. The hotel ended up saving our day. Our dj wasn't able to play music on his system. Without having to ask, the hotel played all the music during the cocktail hour and reception and did a nice job. Our guests didn't even notice that it wasn't the dj playing music. I am definitely glad that I made the decision to use this hotel and would recommend it for others!

Overall, we had a wonderful experience with the Hotel at Kirkwood. We received tons of compliments about the venue and the food. We had a blast and loved that our guests had the opportunity to stay at the hotel the night of the wedding. Only thing I would have changed would be improved communication in the weeks leading up to the wedding but all focus seemed to turn to us and our wedding the week of, which was very helpful!

The hotel space for weddings is absolutely beautiful! The food was excellent and our guests are still talking about the entire reception today. Yes, you do spend a little extra for the space and food than you normally would at other hotels in the area, but if you are looking for a little bit extra to push your reception above the rest, I would recommend The Hotel Kirkwood.

Kirkwood was a great place to have our wedding reception at. Jennifer went out of her way to make sure all of our requests were met, and I could place complete trust in their ability to get all of the little details right. All of our guests couldn't believe how beautiful the room was, and we got so many compliments on the hotel rooms and the whole set up (we used their drapery/chandelier, and our DJ's uplighting).
